Great food brilliant staff.

Staying at the hotel for 1 night. The rates are very diverse online are below £80 for a standard double. We paid £109 which includes breakfast.
Let's talk about how tired the room is very disappointed for the price we will be paying like it hasn't been cleaned hair in the bed. Toilet needs maintenance. Cups for tea and coffee. Thin towels.
Dreading the breakfast after reading the mixed reviews on Google. Com.
The bar was empty. To top off our stay the FIRE ALARM wakes us up at 06:27! Leaving us shaken. Nothing heard from reception, called them to say it was a 'test'.
Very disappointed, definitely need to update there pictures on there website more like a 1*/2* not 4*.

Must admit I was sceptical after being told in the pub over the road that food was not amazing… Well… how wrong could they be, ham hock terrine was amazing, salmon starter was amazing… then the steaks came out… not many places in the UK can cook a perfect sirloin steak, well we had 2 of them. Amazing food, 1st class staff, the only thing that let's this place down is the slightly tired rooms. This place should be a 4 star hotel if done properly not a 3 star tired place. You have the staff to be 4 or 5 star. Sort the rooms out! Management are letting their amazing staff down!

Arrived at hotel part of a coach group, well I’m the driver. Greeted by a lovely polite Romania 🇷🇴 girl, very pleasant and helpful, fantastic first nights dinner.

The staff are so friendly and accommodating nothing to small for them to help you eith.

"double bed" was two beds held together by some sort of joint. The nightpoter who checked us in wasn't very welcoming, arrogant and absolutely rude. out of the whole staff only 3 were decent and made our stay more comfortable
avoid at all costs.

Nice old hotel, friendly staff and food was also good. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are a bit old and could be better cleaned. For two nights it was good and cheap.

Absolutely lovely stay here for 5 nights. Just arrived back yesterday. Convenient for London, Windsor and Hampton Court. Beautiful gardens at Wisley. Food incredible with lots to choose from, and the staff were so welcoming. Room was more than adequate for our stay, clean with fresh bedding/towels every day. I am surprised some people haven’t given a better review because this hotel is worth a visit. We shall definitely stay here again on our next trip South. Particularly thanks to the lovely Charlie who was so bright and breezy! You really made the evening meal a wonderful experience. Thanks Thatchers staff for an excellent holiday.

I fail to see how this hotel has good reviews, it is dated, shabby and in need of a refurbishment. I wanted to checkin before 2pm as I was attending a function but was told I would need to pay an extra £20… This I have never heard before. If I check out early do I get a refund? The only plus point to this hotel were the staff, who seem to be trying to help everyone have a good stay with the shabby product they have to sell.

I requested a 'newer' room. That was still not great. Upon arrival there was a lady arguing with the receptionist about her terrible stay. The bar service was pretty good with decent food. They didn't release the charge on my card until I emailed them and chased them. At which point they said it had already been done, strange that as it was suddenly in my account the next day after waiting a week.

Lovely hotel! Staff very attentive. Food some of the best meals I've had anywhere. Would certainly stay here again.

Have been coming to this hotel for business on and off for the last month. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Had a family wedding at the hotel, the staff were very helpful and the day was very enjoyable. But the breakfast was absolutely terrible we arrived down at 9am and there was no seating and no food. When we asked if any more food was coming out we were told no but the waitress so we paid £17 for nothing. They even run out of tea bags, cutlery and orange juice.

Very nice hotel. Receptionist (older lady, sorry) was lovely and assisted in cutting blue tac out of my son's hair.

We enjoyed a delicious after tea which was bought for us as a gift. The hotel, grounds and restaurant were spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming as was Andrew the general manager. The tea itself was delicious, with any dietary requirements catered for without fuss, and everything tasted freshly made — the scones were particularly good! We will definitely be going back for another visit and look forward to seeing the refurbishment once it's completed. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone in the future. Thank you Andrew and you team for a lovely experience.

We had a lovely stay at Thatcher's hotel. Big comfortable bed, big spacious room and a lovely shower with massage jets. Huge TV which made a nice chance from the tiny ones you normalt get in hotels. Room also had ironing board, hair drier and tea/coffee making facilities. We had room 412 on the ground floor and it was nice and quiet. We would highly recommend as we got a great offer for only £41.65 through ebookers.

Extremely dirty. From the plates to eat breakfast with to the actual property. Windowsills are filthy. The menu is blend. They can't pull the things on their menu. Nothing good about them. The worst hotel ever in the whole entire world.

Booked for Mothers day tea… Not what was advertised at all. Dirty plates dirty cutlery. Warm water. All 4 toilets were not flushed with poo & wee left in them. The whole place was Dirty & Old. Rubbish service. Food wasn't great either. Sandwiches old & dry. Cakes were halved with fingerprints on chocolate!

The batteries of the TVs should be checked regularly for their functionality and replaced if necessary.
It is not enough if you can only switch on the device with the TV switch but cannot select a program because of the empty batteries.

Very quiet area with a lovely county side feeling area. Depending on the room you could either have an amazing experience or an OK one. I recommend getting a room in their newer wing. The restaurant is delicious and the staff are helpful an nice to chat too while it's quiet. Breakfast is varied and all tasty.

Have stayed here three times now. Rooms warm, quite even when functions going on, easy access to large car park. Comfy bar and breakfast /restaurant area. Location great for m25 and A3. Petrol station next door so can get those little extras and more small shops about 10mins walk away. Gastro pub adjacent to petrol station. Breakfast good and reasonable value.

Had a really great New Year's party, thanks to Steve and all his team Thatchers they were all exceptional. They we're all brilliant in very trying circumstances, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Thanks again, and we will definitely be coming back.

We had afternoon tea here, and it won't happen again. 1: The table we were shown to had chairs that had obviously been stolen from a building site, they were falling apart and covered in stains. 2: The sandwiches and cakes were fine, but the scones were stale, and one of them had been cut open, so they'd obviously been served up and not eaten before. This is not nice. 3: The staff were very pleasant but pretty clueless, and I'd much rather not listen to them arguing with each other while I'm trying to enjoy afternoon tea, thankyou. Don't ask for a bowl of sugar… I'm disappointed, to be frank. The whole place has a feeling of being run down. The staff were pretty poor, the afternoon tea was pretty poor, and the dinjng room was just disgusting. I cannot recommend the place.

Brilliant staff. Comfortable bed. Warm room. Good breakfast. Good selection of soft drinks and alcoholic drink at bar. Restaurant is nice, they changed my food for IBS. Garden of hotel very pretty, even in November. Noisy doors in corridors.

A very pleasant hotel, rooms were clean and staff friendly. Only received one towel for 2 guests annoyingly. Food is excellent and I highly recommend the chocolate brownie desert. It was incredible. The food is a bit more on the pricier side but I would say worth it.

Very standard fare really for a private mid-range country hotel. Handy location, pretty around about. Function rooms of useful size. Adequate parking.

Subsequent visit has changed my perception of this hotel, I would not recommend it. Staff are not helpful, prepare to be ignored when you're at reception and staff instead dealing with people that clearly came after you. Make sure you take you hotel reservation to breakfast as they won't believe you had breakfast included and make you go back to reception anyway. RE breakfast — eat quick as staff will take you plate literally from in front of you while you're still eating. If the TV in your room doesn't work get over it they will do nothing. RE restaurent — be prepared to wait a long time even when its not busy also the kitchen doesn't appear to be able to cook steak properly (rare came back looking well done twice). I've stayed hear twice now and would not recommend it they need to make serious changes and put guests experience first.

Rooms were a nice quality, felt warm and modern. All standard Room accessories provided (e. G. Iron, toiletries). Workmen were outside my room on the first night which was a bit strange… Otherwise lovely stay.

Lovely hotel in great surroundings. Breakfast was fantastic and the hotel staff friendly. The restaurant and bar area are very presentable. Room was prob due a refurb and simarly the hallway/ landing carpets but for an overnight stay was fine. Decent shower and comfortable beds. Would stay here again.

Lovely room and facilities with great friendly service. Food was delicious. Only negatives were the room got too hot during the night and couldn't find any air conditioning and the room wasn't well soundproofed. We were aware of the music from the disco and everyone who went passed our room often very thoughtlessly until gone 3am.

Room was good, afternoon tea was delightful and diner was fantastic. Breakfast was also good and the staff great throughout. I really did think that this was going to be a mediocre overnight stay but the kitchen team turned the experience into a truly 5 star stay for us. It was surprisingly quiet for our midweek stay and we did not have to book for dinner, but don't let this fool you the staff really deliver.

The first room we went to had a bathroom full of mould! We were moved to another room which was better but still had mouldy windows and generally in below average repair! Places had been poly filled and just left?!? In a hotel?!? Overall this could be a fantastic place if they focused on up keeping the property better! Breakfast was again average, scrambled eggs sitting for too long and not being stirred with everything else being the same and Luke warm : — (

Rooms were clean and bright. Staff friendly _____________________ Used Bedsheets, Towels, and Crockery left cluttering passageways for long periods. No late bar as such, Had to find a staff member to get bar service. Breakfast was basic, not much of a selection.

Food of high quality and good value for money (cheaper than the pub down the road. ) Rooms are comfortable and clean with good housekeeping that replenishes regularly. Beds are very comfortable and there are lovely gardens. Staff are very helpful and friendly and deal with any issues immediately and with good humour. Very reasonable priced rooms. I would visit again.

Better than I expected and signs of refurbishment taking place. A better than average, modern block grafted onto the back of a traditional building. Staff very helpful.

Stayed here last night. Room was clean but bed was very uncomfortable, woke up with back ache! The room had good tea/coffee facilities and an ironing board and hairdryer. The bar staff and reception were very friendly and served us well. The food was tasty and was displayed well. I'm afraid there was only one person/waiter in the restaurant on the night we were there but am assuming because it was because it was in between Xmas and new year. He seemed very shy and didn't have very good people skills and we could hardly understand what he was saying as he mumbled. Our plates were cleared in between each course but our glasses mounted up on our table and weren't cleared the whole time we were sitting there. It's a shame because the food was lovely. The restaurant itself was nice but very cold unless you were right next to a radiator, shame as they had a fireplace but that wasn't lit. The breakfast was nice but would prefer to have had a poached or fried egg rather than the scrambled egg which was dry. Lovely quiet area.

Clean and pleasent surroundings little shabby in places food was an overpriced joke
had tomato and monzarella salad with basil pesto and balsamic dressing this was basicly half a thinly sliced tomato next to a large pile of rocket salad leaves a little monzarella and tiny dribble of dressing to follow I opted for the fish & chips and for the "kids sized portion" I was served left me angry at the price also the bar took ages to get round to serving me … nice place eat somewhere else though.

Surly reception staff, dated room, no plug in sink, overly soft bed (so aching back in morning). Reception kept me waiting and dallied over the payment arrangements — humourless, appeared bored and had little idea of customer service. The bar staff were OK — but I will not stay again.

Afternoon tea was a disappointment all round. The table was set in the middle of the bar area. Staff were attentive on our arrival then disappeared once tea was brought out. My Neice waited a long time for glass of water. No description of what was on offer with sandwiches. Scones not homemade or tasty, jam was bland. Disappointed as usually enjoy afternoon tea and can be done so well.

Massive rooms with everything you need in it! Big beds that are soooo comfy and breakfast was spot on! Would recommend 100%

No one answers the phone! Very frustrating.

We booked and paid for two nights bed breakfast and evening meal with free bottle of wine in the room and 15% discount voucher for next stay. On arrival the hotel looks great but the reception staff were very surly and there was no wine in the room but we were told, eventually, we could have the wine with our dinner. We were asked if we wanted newspapers but even though ordered on the check in form none arrived so I had to get dressed and walk next door to the petrol station and get my own. Dinner on the first night was good and so we thought we had better make a reservation for the second night even though you would think it not necessary for a prepaid meal. When we attended at the booked time the waitress told us she could not accommodate us as the restaurant was fully booked by a group. When we asked to see a manager a young lad came back and said we could eat in the bar but half the menu was unavailable as they did not have the necessary ingredients. Now the good news Reece the waiter was very helpful and made us feel like valued customers. I could go on with this list of bad news but I am not going to just the buildings and room were good the organisation was rubbish and even the final bill had three items we knew nothing about and the to finish off when we came home and tried to fill in the legacy feedback form online it does not work so we were unable to mention our problems privately as I would have prefered it is most unlikely that we will book with this chain again.
