Party of six today for a meal which we all enjoyed We were looked after so well by the waitress, sorry forgot to ask your name. Excellent service nothing was too much bother. Will definitely go again.

A beautiful building. Kim was very welcoming. Lovely food in the on site restaurant. Would recommend and looking forward to returning.

Fantastic stay thanks to Steve and the staff could not ask for anything better. The room was spotless, we ate in the restaurant for lunch and dinner, the breakfasts are freshly cooked all food a very high standard even though it was busy we never had to wait long before it was served to us. Thank you for a marvellous stay we will most certainly be back.

Wonderful 2 night stay. Idyllic location within striking distance of Rye. Lovely, spotless bedrooms, excellent breakfast and surprisingly well-stocked bar. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Highly recommended all round.

Lovely quirky building that fits perfectly into the Rye surroundings. The double room was very clean and had some lovely touches to it. The room and building had great character to it, just what we was looking for. The food was good and the full English breakfast was a full variety and cooked to perfection! The lady owner was lovely, such a delight, she was friendly and made us fill so welcome. I would highly recommended this place and I would hopefully return again soon.

A lovely find. Unique, intimate atmosphere with an historical background. Traditional food with a variety of additional specials. Generous portions. Recommend if you are in the area of Rye.

Had a great time, we chose the Playden Oasts Inn as we wanted to experience an English pub. They delivered in every way possible, even allowing me to pour a pint.

Its a great place'kim was superb. Food fantastic'serrvice fantastic. Very pet friendly. Gave lola our dog'her own breakfast. Every meal was superb. Beer was superb. Well looked after. Locals very friendly. All in all a great place. And will be returning.

Having stayed here for 2 nights I would highly recommend the accommodation. Breakfast is plentiful and leaves you full for the day and the evening food has a great choice and again amazing quality. Staff are very friendly and just an all round wonderful place to spend a few days away from reality.

We have just spent a thoroughly enjoyable 3 nights in this little gem of a place. We really can not fault it at all. Kim and her staff are all delightful and nothing is too much trouble. The food is fantastic. My rib eye steak was one of the best I’ve ever had and all of the food was delicious, including breakfast. We had a round oast room which we loved; quirky and unusual, very different from the bland run of the mill modern box! The beer was good so him indoors was pleased. One of the reasons for choosing this hotel was the proper bar and we were delighted at the warm welcome from the locals as well as staff and other guests. A truly wonderful atmosphere and I’m sure we’ll be back again. In such a lovely part of the country too with so much to see and do.

Had lunch in the actual Oast house itself although the food was OK. We found the interior extremely dated with sticky tables, desperately in need of updating. The service was fine.

Surrounding around this hotel is magical. Pet friendly. Inside the hotel, we've found it to be very dirty. Our room was literary covered with spiders: various sizes and various kinds. I did complain to the owner, as I couldn't sleep throughout the night thinking it may land all those creatures on me. The ownder made sure going further rooms have been cleaned to better standards, but still not worth the price we've booked the room for, later the owner have reduced our final bill. They have bar and restaurant downstairs, it has lovely almost historic interior but after experiencing standards of the room I couldn't eat or drink there. Would never stay there again, sorry.

Comfortable hotel, clean and well maintained but obviously old fashioned, staff very nice and friendly. Breakfast and dinner good with an interesting menu prepared by a good chef. Really nice atmosphere in the evening in the original oast house converted into restaurant and bar amongst friendly locals. Lovely country side location a few miles from beautiful Rye.

Went here for dinner last night. Really good food, well presented with good service and reasonable prices.

Have been here for years as a customer buying goods drinks at the bar. But September 2017 I was a guest that stayed in one of the rooms. We had a full English breakfast which was cooked on demand and we was allowed to help ourselves to fruit cereals yoghurts and juice. Will stay again.

We spent 4 days at Christmas here. Had a lovely time. Kim Raymond was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The meals were very good. All the staff were efficient and helpful. Enjoyed range of local beers in the bar. Would definitely recommend. Michael Jenny and Poppy.

Great pub, what I'd call good honest pub food, excellent value and fast service.

A fairly last minute booking for my wife and I, and it looked nice enough online. However, upon arrival, it started to deteriorate. We were shown to our room by the owner, Kim Raymond, which was reasonable, but apparently was constructed and decorated somewhat on the cheap judging by the faux wooden beams nailed to the ceiling and the plastic fixtures. Already the charge of £100 per night was looking notably overpriced for what you get. We then walked back to the bar area for a drink to find Kim sat at the front of the bar being affectionately petted by a male punter of unknown relationship status. There was no apology or welcoming given and the drinks were poured very hastily given the impression that it was a burden to serve us and that she wanted to get back to some touchy-feely. This awkwardness and lack of interest continued throughout the two-day stay. We decided to eat in Rye that evening. The breakfasts were reasonable but the kitchen area looked pretty basic and not becoming of the portrayed standard and aesthetic of the hotel. The two younger serving staff at the bar later on the Saturday evening were more pleasant and welcoming which was a refreshing change. Upon departure the one of the breakfast serving staff just asked my wife if we had paid for our stay, my wife replied "yes" and that was the end of the conversation. No thought was expressed of did we enjoy our stay or any form of thanks for our custom.

The bar staff were inept and the steak was inedible. A "medium" sirloin came up absolutely blue, yet despite being next to raw, it was so tough that the "steak knife" wouldn't go through it. I quote "steak knife" as it was so blunt that I couldn't even cut my wrists with it, which is what I'd rather do than try to plough through their steak. When confronted, the chef said "that's my fault, I like mine blue". Didn't mean we didn't have to pay though! Won't be going back.

A wonderful place where we stopped for lunch on our way to Rye. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was really lovely. Highly recommend this place.

A nice place for a Sunday roast. On our wedding anniversary, my wife and I were out for a drive and looking for a nice meal somewhere that we had not been before when we stumbled across this lovely place not for our from Rye. The service was very good and felt relaxed rather than stuffy as some places can be. The food was very good too. I recommend the Tiger Prawns for starters. There are a couple of local beers which were nice so over all I recommend a visit.

A really lovely stay at the Playden Oast between Xmas and new year. First the positives; great food, both a great English breakfast and evening menu; good location a 3 minute drive to central Rye; and super lovely staff. I have to be honest that the room we had was basic and the mattress saggy but it was clean and suited us for 2 nights. As long as you aren't looking for glamorous trimmings you'll have a lovely stay.

Came for the restauraunt as was staying nearby. Interesting building, lovely helpful service, my dog welcome, generous portions and tasty food.

Fantastic!. The owner 'Bob' is a legend! I could sit and listen to him talk forever!. The food is good, the local beer is good, the charm and decor of the place is very inviting. What's not to like.

I hate to do this, but I must criticise this place in the strongest possible terms, they seriously need to address some hygiene issues. Serving curdled milk and coffee containing a fly is not good business.
