My partner and I stayed at The Bell for my partners birthday. We had an amazing stay and the staff were so friendly and professional. I am a very fussy eater but Patrick our waiter was so understanding and accommodating to my fussiness. I had the Arancini starter made In to a main meal and it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning and would recommend to friends and family. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a great meal at The Bell on Tuesday evening this week while having a few days break in Ticehurst. The bar and restaurant are nicely laid out with quirky understated decor. Service is great. The staff are welcoming and knowledgable and we would mention in particular the very friendly bar and restaurant manager who arranged an additional vegetarian menu option for us on the night. All in all it was super and we would certainly return if we are in the area again.

Just had a great meal and drinks here at The Bell. Such a funky outdoor eating area, music was fun, staff were excellent, very welcoming and friendly, and the food was delicious. The outdoor kitchen smelt awesome and landscaping was so creative. Really didn’t feel like we were minutes from home. Thank you, will definitely return here again.

First family lunch out since lockdown for my pending birthday, wonderful garden setting and the smell of the BBQ was amazing!
My Giant prawn was lovely and cooked perfectly on the BBQ. My husband enjoyed his burger and my daughter her dipping bread and salad, so delicious we will certainly be back, hopefully to stay in one of your wonderful rooms. Thank you.

Sadly we’d not been able to get a room, as had been just missed out in time so stayed at a hotel just up the road
Opted for the main menu rather than the valentines special menu which on paper didn’t shout out to me however when we saw it arriving at the table next to us and the chefs describing the dishes we were very impressed
Excellent menu with lots to chose from, we only managed a starter and main each, the steaks were the most amazing steaks we have ever eaten.
Great food, great pub, and very good service and we will be back in the summer and will stay over.

We went in there last night and can honestly say Iv never experienced such awful attitudes and disgraceful customer service, when we brought this to the attention of one of the manager’s he himself didn’t really seem that bothered and I can’t imagine how the other manager is actually a manager as his credentials totally lacked people skills amongst other things, what I would say is that they really should get some training or in fact don’t work with in the public sector because it’s people like you who give places a bad name and in turn people will not go now I know my complaint is minutiae to the amount of customers you get, but I will not recommend the bell to anyone, I will indeed speak the truth so that will have a knock on effect
at some point.

My wife and I stopped here for a bite to eat after visiting ‘Batemans’, the home of Rudyard Kipling. A lovely place. Very attentive staff and lovely food. Nothing seemed to be any trouble.

Food, service and wine list are outstanding. Add to that, a unique decor and ambience, it's the village pub with so much to offer. Wholly recommended.

Had an absolutely delicious meal last night at The Bell. I had the veggie option on the menu.
The only reason I didn't give the extra star, was that the menu was so pretentious in its wording that we had no idea what we were getting!
Luckily the surprise was a good one. The rice dish was amazing.

Stayed this week as we were working close by for 4 days, not all positives nut nevertheless, staff were brilliant, warmly feel, good pint, nice rooms and the food was to die for "fantastic" The one negative was our rooms were at the front and the main road was quite loud. I would go back but would request a backroom.

We came here for Sunday lunch. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. We all really had a wonderful time. The pub its self had a large range of beers and ipa along with a good wine list. The decor is very quirky too. All in all a fabulous place to spend some time at alone or with friends.

Lovely place to stay with great food and quirky accommodation. We have stayed in all of the lodges and enjoyed our stays each time. Staff so helpful too.

Honestly one of the best meals I've had. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the decor was lovely. And its surprisingly cheap for the quality you get. Also, there's a funny surprise in the men's toilets. :) If you're in Ticehusrt or passing through, make sure you visit this restaurant! We'll definitely be coming back again.

This was our third time staying here and every time we've loved it. This time we stayed in the "Hush Of The Trees" room and from our point of view the rooms in the main building seem to nicer than the Lodges, but that maybe just our preference. The details of the rooms are quirky but there are no gimmicks, the bed was amazing and as my wife commented: she felt like a princess when in this room. The bathroom was amazing and not a single one of the decorated tiles were the same. The food as we have come to expect was amazing and the Harvey's Beer Battered fish was so crispy and light. Akin to many excellent country pubs the food is locally sourced and still reasonably priced. It is one of those places you don't want to tell people about because it's a gem you want to keep for yourself — but that would be just selfish. The cinema and comedy nights suggest that this is a community pub and not just for travellers, and seem like a great deal if food is ordered in advance. We will be back, there's something magical about The Bell!

Passed by this place and went in for food, it was a very welcome surprise. The place is lovely and quirky, food was so nice. The back garden was a very warm and pretty place to sit. Highly recommend a visit.

Lovely and quirkily restored pub in the busy village of Ticehurst. Love our room that is rather ironically called "Hush… " The decor is wonderful but there is little protection from the noise of regular traffic outside. Ear plugs required. Breakfast is excellent and we certainly enjoyed the dinner. Staff are helpful and friendly. Particularly enjoyed the welcoming crew on at breakfast. Book a stay, but ask for a rear room.

Delicious quality food, well prepared and presented with style and gusto. Recommend to all to visit and eat! Cheeky chappie at the bar made us feel most welcome and has "front of house" skills required to make a great evening very special! Thank you to all the staff, (We were the two old codgers from Richmond, loud and smiley, but big tippers! ) Will see you soon if our house hunting has been successful!

My favourite pub in the UK (and I've been to a lot of pubs). Ticks every box… Beautiful food, lovely garden, great beer selection, friendly staff, quirky decor (including the urinal trumpets) and some local events. Atmosphere is great, well worth the drive and you can even stay the night in what looks like some stunning rooms.

Stated in a very nice room, got a good deal through Secret Escapes. Dinner wasn't bad, but the combined cost of dinner and the room was as much as a good hotel — The Pig for example, so I felt it was expensive for the level of service. Music in the pub was terrible 90s tunes, didn't work at all for the atmosphere. It felt like the manager either had the night off, or wasn't on the ball. I didn't dislike it, but I felt there was under delivery.

When you enter The Bell, pause for a moment and let the ambience wrap itself around you like a warm blanket. Then cast your eyes slowly around and take in your surroundings. You'll be met with something quirky and original wherever you look, from the top hat light shades to the column of books and do make sure you read the front of the bar.
The staff are warm and welcoming, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit.
Make sure you visit on an empty stomach if you plan to eat here as otherwise you will roll out of the door having finished your meal. The food is second to none and the chips, well, they are to die for.
If you happen to find yourself in this establishment, you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend you stop by even if just for a quick bevvy just to partake in The Bell experience.

I love this pub, fantastic staff, friendly, helpful and genuinely nice. I have to say the fish and chips are world class. The garden is so beautiful in the summer and the inside is warm and inviting in the winter. All round worth a visit.

We travelled to Ticehurst twice, once to buy a car from the local family dealer and again, a week later, to collect it. We were recommended The Bell as somewhere we could get a meal. On the first occasion, we were told that they had just stopped serving food, as this was quite late in the afternoon, we didn't think this entirely unreasonable and they recommended another local establishment to us. The following week, we wanted to have lunch there and arrived just before two in the afternoon to be told that their kitchen had just been closed to their customers to cater for a wedding. On both occasions we left and went to The Bull Inn nearby where we were made to feel most welcome and had lovely meals. So unfortunately, our experience of The Bell at Ticehurst wasn't very positive, although I must say that they had a real fire burning and it looked a nice country pub. On our first visit the bartender was very apologetic and helpful in sending us to a competitor where we could get fed.

We had a smashing stay here Saturday 17th Feb. Loved our room and the roll top bath and exposed beams. The food was excellent, both breakfast and evening meal. (Try the steak for two with fat chips — yum) Have to say they have a very young staff on board — all of whom were delightful and very attentive. We brought along our Whippet, Ruby, and she was made to feel very welcome. We will certainly be back — and have recommended you to all our friends. Thanks for a great stay.

We had the beef for 2 people with chips for lunch. I've got to admit it was probably one of the best steaks I have ever had. Very flavoursome and cooked perfectly. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat.

Well what a wonderful place! As everyone has previously posted, it’s quirky, beamed and beautiful. I’m here for a wedding and the facilities are great for both the wedding and the reception too. We have booked a double room, and it is fantastic! Everything is from s bygone era and kept in keeping with the age of the property, if a little eclectic and kitch. The quirky large floor boards that slant to one side adds to the ambience and overall feel. The massive bed with its super soft mattress aided sleep, the natural creaking of the building getting ready for the night was evident but comforting in its own way. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious to start the day. A bonus I would say is that all the staff from the function room, bar to breakfast all seemed to enjoy their work which meant a relaxing enjoyable visit and stay. Talking of the bar, a Late afternoon gin was blended with idol chat with locals, guests and some travelling through, the bar is accessible and dogs are welcome. There is free parking to the side and rear too. Cost: those may say it is expensive but £150 for the whole experience and the perfect location to visit local sites, my one night feels like a holiday. Adding to the ease of booking, Tessa and her colleagues were amazing with contact over email, telephone and even providing a welcome letter on arrival. I can’t wait to return in the summer to see the difference in the feel of the place and to explore the local area further.

Smashing pub with good food and great quirky but comfortable rooms. The shower over the bath was a real faff, but not so much as to put me off the overall experience of staying here. Would love to host a big dinner in their private dining room!

I recently stayed in one of The Bell's lodges and it was absolutely perfect. The room was large, well equipped and the furnishing was well themed and beautiful. The staff were friendly and always looking after us, you couldn't ask for better people. The food was also excellent whether it was the breakfast or dinner. We ate at the Bell for 3 nights running because we always wanted to try something else on the menu! I can not recommend staying here more.

Not as good as it thinks. Pleasant Monday night meal but suspect management have high aspirations which they didn't quite meet. Selection of appetisers very good, fish and chips very good — burgers average at best, overcooked solid meat, even more solid designer bread. Kedgeree — well, it just isn't kedgeree nor particularly pleasant whatever rather pushy male gent wanted us to believe. Charming young ladies serving us. Would I return — I don't think so.

A clean and quirky place set in an idyllic village location. The staff provided an excellent service. A word of warning though, bar prices for drinks were on a par with London West End prices and the food, although good, was not cheap.

Well, where do I begin, this is, hands down, the nicest pub I have ever been to. It looks like a reasonable old building from the outside, in a nice country village. On the inside it is a quirky design with different styles in each room. You can be social and sit in the main bar or go to a separate room and just stay in your group. The garden is beautiful with lodges that can be rented. The food is also excellent with the best fish and chips I have had at a pub. The urinals are also pretty cool. Highly recommended, and worthy of the award, and worth a journey. I will be returning!

The Bell seems like your ordinary pub from the outside. But inside it is lovely. It's so quirky, in a very well-done, tasteful manner. Paintings and artefacts fill, but don't overcrowd the pub/restaurant. The staff are very warm and welcoming. The food is lovely, the portions a little small for my appetite, but it's not so outlandishly priced that a couple of sides couldn't be added. We stayed in one of the lodges. There has clearly been money spent on these, with good attention to detail. We didn't get the nicest lodge, but the one we stayed in was still lovely. The bathroom is high-spec. A little private patio with a fireplace set into the wall is a lovely touch, and the ceiling above the bed is decorated with hundreds of artificial roses which adds a lovely romantic touch. The attention to detail is reflected throughout the whole Bell Inn experience. I know there's lots more to see that I hadn't spotted. The lodges are encircling a communal fire pit, so groups would have a lovely time together if all four were hired on an occasion. All in all we've had a lovely time and would definitely consider visiting again.

This place is a must! It was for my birthday and we booked the love nest for one night. My parter secretly arranged for flowers and champagne that they didn't stock, Zoe went out of her way to get a bottle and also arranged for the flowers to be waiting in the room.
The room… was amazing! So clean, no bad points at all it was just breathtaking. The rooftop terrace was huge!
The food… we ordered 6 starters! we skipped mains and had desert instead. It was reasonably priced and we were stuffed! The breakfast was lovely, plenty to eat.
The staff were all really polite, easy parking on site and the gardens were lovely too.
They also said our dog was welcome to stay and eat with us which is a nice touch.
You must stay here, two of my friends are already booking for their birthdays!

I attended a wedding and the staff were very well coordinated and professional and everything went like clockwork. The setting was lovely and had some very nice decor and the rooms were also very nice and we'll equipped. It's a little more expensive then a lot of pubs around but there was a great selection on offer and the lagers and ales were well kept. The food supplied for the event was very nice, well presented, and hot which was impressive for the volume of people being served and is a good sign of what to expect from the restaurant which I will visit at some point. Overall I can't fault my experience and the pub should be proud of what they offer and are able to achieve.

Cute, cosy, romantic, quirky and really friendly …. Do it! We have just spent a wonderful overnight stay at The Bell Inn It was a surprise for my wife’s birthday – and we received the fantastic and unexpected treat of being given the ‘Pour L’Amour’ Lodge and a glass of bubby each on arrival. The Lodge is truly lovely. A high class build, with all mod-cons and pretty bathroom … but in a romantic and quirky way to match the rest of the Inn. Roses cascade above the bed, as we listened to music through the built in stereo – and later (after dinner), even braved the outside fireplace for a night cap. Lovely Lovely, but slightly scatty day time (lunch & breakfast) service…it seems you need to be quite relaxed about what you get and when…. But it caused us no issues (but we saw a few ‘incidents’ around us) – all somehow added to the charm, but could be a problem. In the evening it was all ‘youngsters’ front of house – but all well turned out, spoken and helpful. The Inn itself as expected (and hoped) is cute, cosy, quirky, and pretty. We enjoyed drinks and three meals (a simple lunch, dinner, and included breakfast) – all of which we enjoyed. We found it difficult to drag ourselves away the next day – lounging by the fire in the snug until we really had to make a move. The only regret, was that we couldn’t stay longer Thanks to The Bell Inn for the surprise and hospitality — we will recommend to friends, and hope to be back ourselves. Pip & Neil.

Well, that was an experience. Truth be told, the food, when it arrived wasn't bad at all but one needs more than that to have a good evening. Let's ignore the stale bread as they had some lovely fresh stuff to replace it with. The key problem was the service and one feels bad to say so as the staff were obviously trying very hard. The trouble was that they didn't have a clue! Inordinate delays for everything from mustard to water even though it was a Tuesday, never the busiest day on the catering calendar. Clearing the table when one person was still eating, adding extra drinks on to the bill (naughty) and serving espresso at somewhere between 5 and 10ml a portion, the latter being an wildly generous estimate were just some of the shortcomings. Two burgers, fish 'n chips and a fish pie plus starters and drinks for over £130 is certainly gastro-pub prices but in reality it was pub grub with delusions of grandeur. The Bell at TIcehurst has been redesigned with flair and taste. It lies close to where Flora Poste lived with Aunt Ada Doom and the Starkadders. Unfortunately they have matched London prices with Cold Comfort Farm service. For tonight at least, there must have been something nasty in the woodshed…

This is now, officially, an Hotel, not a Pub with rooms, as they have added the most amazing, quirky, 'pods' in the grounds. These are in fact individual rooms with bathrooms and are wonderful! Each one from the outside looks like a very smart, wooden cladded cabin, but inside is like the Tardis, much bigger than you could possibly imagine. I stayed in 'Pour L'Amour' and there are roses cascading down from the ceiling over the huge, and immensely comfortable, king size bed. The bathroom is all tiled and reminiscent of Victoriana, but with ALL the mod cons — it is actually a wet room, so no problem with showering, with underfloor heated tiles, good lighting and fabulous 'goodies'. There are Tea/Coffee making facilities, (the flower painted, ceramic kettle is enough to make you want to take it home) and a Cream Tea, with two scones and jam and Clotted Cream under a glass bell — what more could a girl want? White wine in the fridge, red in the cupboard with two glasses, they have really thought of everything. I had Dinner in the Restaurant which is away from the bar area, and it was truly delicious. Breakfast is brilliant, with home made Marmalade, full cooked English, croissant and a toaster ready for you to make your own colour toast, with bread from their own, local bakery.!
