We have a fab stay at Hotel & spa day last Week. Spa was fabulous, lovely staff and treatment. Unfortunately I slipped by the door leading from the pool into changing room. My husband was there to help me up and also a lovely chap also came to my aid, who spoke to my husband’s and said he is a regular at the pool and has seen others slip in same area. At the time I was winded and just hurt my bottom. However Since coming home and the pain increased, I discovered I have a small fracture in my coccyx and a bruised right Hip. PLEASE can you put some non slip mats down by the door, steam room / sauna area. Anyone older than me could possibly have suffered worse injuries. We would love to return to the hotel & spa on our next anniversary as this visit was a treat to celebrate. But I’d rather know I’d be safe doing so. Your staff are very attentive I will add. At the time I didn’t need medical attention, but that didn’t stop them asking.

Everything about this place made our stay special tonight. Staff is super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Rooms are spacious and bathroom very clean and modern. Lovely views from room. Restaurant staff 5 stars! The waitress named Babina was absolutely amazing! greeting us withbig smile, very friendly day and professional:) Highly recommend this place!

Myself and 2 friends visited the spa and had afternoon tea. The spa was lovely, the relaxation room was perfect, the massage was one of the best I've had and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Unfortunately this is where the positives end. Despite the spa ringing me to confirm our treatments and paying for afternoon tea the day before on the phone, when we went into the bar area for afternoon tea a gentleman named Stuart simply said in an extremely rude manner "you haven't confirmed so we cancelled it" I assured him we had confirmed and pre paid for the afternoon tea which prompted him to throw his clipboard onto the bar and storm off to the lady in the spa reception area. I followed so I could help to sort it and was shook with how rude and unhelpful he was. The lady was lovely and very apologetic for his manner. We did receive our afternoon tea however unfortunately it was one of the worst we have had. It felt like they didn't have enough for us so just threw something together. There was no clotted cream with the scones, just normal cream, the sandwich fillings were very plain eg plain cheese, plain tuna. It just didn't seem like any care was put into making it. We did explain that if they couldn't make us an afternoon tea we were happy to order from the normal bar menu as we didn't want to be a burden. Stuart made us feel like we were a burden to him. We werent asked if we wanted more drinks etc.

Tidy rooms, happy and friendly staff, lovely breakfast! All round happy and satisfied with my stay.

Awful staff, the decor was dated. Cracked shower and sink. Treated poorly by staff, rude and unwelcoming. Seriously disappointed.

The bed has got to be the worst I have ever tried to sleep in, rooms were quite dated and furnishings in restaurant were stained and tired looking. Bar staff were really good as were the concierge but restaurant staff need to be a bit more attentive.

Too much chlorine in jacuzzi and pool eyes were stinging the club sandwich meal was standard bacon too fatty the treatments facial etc excellent.

Went for spa day — treatment was amazing, food was nice but late after them cancel treatment s same to to one offer another — steam room was grotty toe nails and hairs on seats! Pool was full of white bits Jacuzzi was so full of chemicals burned your eyes Wouldn’t go back again! Treatment staff was amazing receptionist was miserable as sin! Not helpful when tried to complain.

Fabulous value for money, clean and friendly staff who kept smiling despite being skeleton staff and under pressure. Great food and beautiful rooms.

Despite looking a bit tardy from the outside inside lovely and large bedroom. Mattress not the best but shower strength was epic.

Lovely room, however, the attitude and rudeness of the receptionists is shocking. The reception desk never has someone manning it at all times, meaning that you will be standing around waiting to be seen to for a while. Such a shame as the hotel itself is lovely so you would think that staff would make more of an effort when considering professionalism and customer satisfaction.

Very disappointed a double room should be a double not two singles pushed together. Food in restaurant was over cooked and the fish undercooked couldnt eat our meal.

Fantastic hotel really lovely my only complaint is the windows were pretty dirty on the top floor so our view wasn’t too great but with the recent pandemic can understand how details can be missed but other than that would highly recommend.

Great hotel, very local for the centre, great staff, good food and prices, need more staff on at peak times ut nothing more than a slight annoyance… gym is good and pool area, steam etc good. Would recommend.

The spa area is lovely, reception staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the therapists need some extra training. My treatments were definatly not spa quality.

Staff were friendly and helpful, our room was large and clean with a great view of the city. Had everything we wanted in the room, perecct for a couples break. Spa facilities were clean but sauna was out of use which was a shame.

Lovely hotel great atmosphere staff are very friendly, stayed here for valentines day with my girlfriend got upgraded for free and because the room TV did not have a USB port was given a free bottle of precco absoult lovely thank you would highly recommend.

Enjoyed our stay, booked as had a meeting there and went out later on with work colleagues in the evening, room was ok, clean bathroom just the carpet was stained and a bit old fashioned, bed was lovely and spacious, fully enjoyed the facilities in the morning, pool steam and jacuzzi, sauna un available as maintenance due, overall was a great break.

I’ve just spent the day in the spa with a friend, we had a great time, the massage was lovley, the relax room really was relaxing and complimentary drinks was a lovely touch. Staff were very friendly, it was clean, a perfect little getaway!

Wonderful spa facilities, great therapists… so friendly. Felt completely at ease at this establishment and would absolutely recommend and will re visit asap. Bar staff chatty and accommodating. Excellent spa experience. 5* for me ❤

Disabled access to the spa is rubbish and humiliating. Same sex disabled changing room so I couldn't get my partner ready. Staff expected her friend to get her into her swimming gear. Now not being funny would you want your friends getting you naked and dress you and shower you cos I wouldnt cross a line there see. So had to change her in the lobby disabled toilets and shower her next to the pool. Also no host into the pool so had to lift her in and out of pool. Again not very safe way to do things is it. You would think in this day in age you would have these in place. So in short if your disabled and need assistance of some one that's not the same sex then you or if you can't walk don't go here.

Brilliant hotel this is my second visit here. Staff here are really friendly and the spas amazing.

When we came we go on que, and then u had to wait for 45 mins because they said they cleaning the room and being set up, and then you had to que again to get a card key to them, when we walk to there hallway after entering our room, we saw a towel on the floor in front of our room, bin bag on the side, so disgusting, when we enter the room the toilet is dirty, haven’t been flashed, towels smell like damp, bath tub is dirty, shower room door is so dirty, really bad quality of service there, receptionist is rude, we will never suggest to our friend to go there.

A/C was not making the room warmer even on 30 but constant cold air. Told staff but nothing was done. Only stayed a night but out most of the evening. Turned the A/C off so room did not become cold. Large dark stain on the floor of the room. Apart from that, breakfast was good. Oh yes, I would be grateful that you inform guests if their room is located right next to the elevator. Makes a hell of a noise.

I never review hotels because it's always a standard affair but this place is just incredible! One of my most memorable hotel experiences and so glad I chose this over another chain with a similar deal! The privilege room is just stunning! Will never forget my stay here!

Good clean hotel. Generally. Our stay was good but our room was approximately ready 1 hour late. Parking is £12 per day but the lack of spaces means parking at NCP at a cost of £23 per night. Breakfast was good and plenty of choice for all.

Doesn't look the best from the outside, but once you step inside it's a whole new world! It's so modern and relaxing. Staff are so nice and the facilities are amazing. I had a massage treatment and it was heaven! Very clean. Food is amazing! Best pizza I have ever had. The only fault are the lockers. I had to ask someone for help many times. They are not safe as my friend thought hers was locked but it wasn't! Even the staff are frustrated that they have to leave the desk to help customers use the lockers. It really shouldn't be so hard. I went to relax and that was ever so stressful, to think that you belongings may not be secure.

Had an absolute amazing time. We booked for a superior king room and had a free upgrade to a suite! It was incredible! Would highly recommend. The pool is gorgeous. The staff are so helpful, even with our kind of silly and obvious questions. Slept really well, bed was super comfy and with the air con too! Breakfast was OK, I think if we weren't so pressed for time or already full from our feast the night before, we would have enjoyed it more. But we weren't that hungry so just had small portion. The mocha from the coffee machine was gross also. Loved that they had pain au chocolate but I really would have wanted to eat more to make it worth the ten pounds.

Stayed there for a works party, we had a dinner in the main hall it was very nice. Food was fantastic. Rented a room for the night, the room was very big nice and soft beds. Room was very clean, had a view of Cardiff. Service was excellent staff where all friendly.

Reception is 4 * and my facial was 4* but I must say how disappointed in the spa facilities. It felt to me like the whole place needed a good clean, the jacuzzi worked when it felt like it, the steam room wasn’t very clean, and by 4 o’clock it felt like everything was being turned off. When I went upstairs for my treatment the tables were full of used cups and glasses. No water available before treatments. Also I think when people have a spa day it’s to relax but instead we had kids jumping-screaming & diving into the pool! Maybe management need to look at certain times for spa days as I understand if they have family passes but it’s certainly not what someone wants to hear while on a relaxing spa day
I do think they need to look into updating and cleaning the facilities!

Where do we begin, selected bottle of wine waited 5 mins apologies we don’t have that one, select another, 5 mins sorry we don’t have that one either. Choose our food, guess what starter sold out. Today off to the Spa low and behold no towels. Never mind chilled for a couple of hours, upto restaurant bottle of champagne and I select cheese board we can offer you crackers if you don’t like oat cakes, lovely we will have half and half, 10 minutes later apologies no crackers. Manager comes out and apologises I joke treatments tomorrow hope they don’t run out of oils, thought I would just check, good job I did they have the oils but no therapist, so sorry we were going to contact you, I checked in last night why have you not called me. Wait and see what happens next, we are still smiling.

Special thanks to Matthew in the bar who gave a smashing service, also Calvin was very kind. Also spa staff are very over worked but do an exceptional job. We ate breakfast and dinner both nights and it was delicious!

On arrival there is space at the front of the Hotel to drive up and get your cases into the reception area which is good, thing because if you cannot get into there underground Car Park the next available Car Park is a 5 to 10 minute walk away at the NCP. The car park is £12 or £12.50 can't remember off the top of my head and is quite tight and is on a first come first served basis, I think it's silly that you can not book a spot in advance. Booking in was quiet long winded as they had that afternoon had to reboot the computer system and this was causing difficulties in accessing your rooms with the keys, it took 3 attempts to get a key that would operate the door, due to the time this was taking we ended up waiting in the bar and having a drink. The first room we were given we turned down as it was dirty and not very well presented. The bathroom had clearly not been cleaned, with unmentionables in the toilet. We were upgraded to a bigger room which was at least clean. Both rooms were chilly, the second one I can accept, but the first one I can't, I think when the rooms are cleaned and prepared for the new guests it would make sense to put the heating on prior to the guests arrival, but as the room had clearly not been cleaned properly if at all this was not done. We had both dinner and breakfast in the hotel which was nice and presented well, I feel the restaurant menu was quiet small and needed more options, and sadly a little expensive.

Nice hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. We stayed in a Privilege room which was nothing special except for the fact that it was on the corner of the building with windows on 2 sides so we had a fab view from the 12th floor. The bath was really deep and wide but had no handles to assist getting in and out. Food was very nice.

We had a Privilege room which was nothing special except for the fact it was on the corner on level 12 so we had 2 big windows with long ranging views. 5 minutes walk from the centre and Queen St. Station.

Very good location close to major transport links. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was good and had a diverse menue for everyone.

Convenient location, with parking on site which I needed, staff are super friendly, bar and restaurant very nice, I only had a light lunch but it was very nice. Room was spacious, very clean, comfy bed, no noise from other rooms. Check — in was ever so slow, they seemed to be having technical problems, and only one person on the desk. Two other staff came, as there was a queu of guests waiting to check in, and they were very apologetic about the delay, gave me a drinks voucher to make up for the wait, which was a nice touch. Tried the pool and steam room/sauna, very nice, though the pool was dark! Very odd. Didn't have time for spa treatments, but it was perfect for a short one-night stay. I will be returning.

Slightly disappointed. The place was "grubby". Communal areas, toilets: no soap in dispensers, no locks on cubicle doors, just no very pleasant. Breakfast luke warm. I would have thought they could stretch to some decent quality bread for the money they charge. Pre sliced out of a packet! Asked veggie sausages on arrival at restaurant didn't appear had to ask again then turned up when my wife had finished eating. Not a good relaxing evening enjoyable experience at all. Had better experiences at B&B's for half the price. Typical chain hotel really.

Great room view stunning if windows were clean. TV needs an upgrade. Overall a very nice room though.

I could not be more in love with this hotel. The room I was in is about the same size as my London flat (which is a little bit depressing come to think of it) so I would easily have been comfortable for a longer stay. The pool and gym facilities are excellent and the selection at breakfast is out of this world. I was very impressed. Oh, and the bath tub would make Meredith Grey proud (knees and boobs fit in at the same time! )

Nice hotel in a good location. Good gym. Food is slow to arrive but worth the wait. The risotto I had was excellent.

Lovely hotel with a few luxury details. Very friendly staff, especially in restaurant. Had lovely spa treatments and enjoyed the relaxation room after. Pool and jacuzzi could be hotter. Food facilities in room, some features could be modernised. Delicious 3 course meal in restaurant and good variety at breakfast.

Great stay with good service. The hotel is very modern and chic. The restaurant was excellent but by far the best aspects were the room and spa — The room was very spacious with a shower and bath and the pool/spa were very well designed. Would certainly recommend.

Excellent room, excellent service, helpful staff but the dust on surfaces in the dining area showed a serious lack of quality control (was able to write "dust" with my finger on plinth between a table and the breakfast buffet)

This is basically a Travellodge with a spa, not the 4 star hotel we were expecting. We had stayed in the St David the day before and despite the pricing being similar, the hotel itself, the food and the service are incomparable. The bedroom
We stayed in room 217. We had 2 single beds pushed together vs a double bed, without anything to keep the beds from parting, so myself and my partner had to quite literally sleep separately. The duvets were thin and the beds hard and uncomfortable. The room was fairly spacious and the bath was nice. Breakfast
It wasn’t good. The hot water for the tea was luke warm at best, though when requested the urn was topped up with hot water. Both myself and my partner are gluten free. Sadly they use sausages, hash browns and baked beans that contain gluten. I’ve never ever known baked beans to contain gluten, but the chef said they did, so that was breakfast out of the question. I’m guessing they’ve opted to buy bargain basement brands and charge a premium price. We settled for fruit, the most expensive bowl of fruit we’ve ever paid for. But at least it was fresh. Overall I’d not stay here again. Perhaps if I’d paid £60 and this was indeed a travellodge, I’d not be feeling quite so negatively about my experience, as I’d have got exactly what is expected. But at the prices they charge, it’s definitely not worth it. St David’s in comparison was excellent. The food was exceptional.

Room lovely and clean, reception amazing. All that glitters Christmas event terrible. Food was the worst I have had served to me in a very long time, bar staff too limited and they ran out of wine, our group could not use all our drinks vouchers that we had paid for due to bad lager or no wine,
want a refund, would never recommend this evening, hotel I would recommend though.

I decided to treat my daughter to a weekend away in a four star spa hotel, and paid over £300 for the two nights. The room had not been vacuumed, there were hairs on the toilet seat and the toilet was stained, the mattresses were the most uncomfortable I have ever encountered in a hotel and the mattress sheet on one of the beds had not been changed from the previous night. There were no mattress covers. Mismatched cups the didn't fit the saucers and only one teaspoon. I talked to reception and 2 very overworked housekeeping staff very hurriedly put duvets on the mattresses to make them comfier, and vacuumed. Was moved the next night to a privilege room. Beds still uncomfortable. Floor still dirty, dust and marks on the furniture and mirrors. Altogether not a four star experience.

Excellent Hotel and helpful friendly staff. The stay could have been made easier by providing written information on the facilities of the hotel and their whereabouts. A welcome brochure was not available giving the whereabouts of the bar, restaurant, swimming pool etc. This information was readily available by asking the helpful staff but I would have liked to have been able to browse this information for myself. I know that hotels now normally charge for parking but really? Put the charge on the room and no one would mind. The impression is one of money grabbing. To be honest the room is quite expensive enough so be bold and stop charging!

This was our 4th year in a row visiting The Mercure in Cardiff. We always experience fantastic customer service, the hotel itself is always clean, modern and welcoming. The views from our room are just spectacular. Staff are always going out of there way to help. We also had spa treatments and the deep tissue massage was one of the best I have ever had! We love this place so much we return every anniversary and this year my partner asked me to be his wife! Mercure Cardiff will always have very special place in our hearts.

I stayed at the hotel in order to settle my daughter at the university. The location was perfect for this. The staff on duty at the reception, at the restaurant for breakfast and at the fitness centre were all very polite and helpful. My room was comfortable and clean. I would have liked to be able to reserve a parking space in advance. I could only find a space on one of my night's stay. I will certainly stay again and will get organised enough to book into a treatment at the health spa. The gym was well equipped and the swimming pool clean. I would have liked the sauna and steam room to have been hotter.

Convenient parking, stylish spacious modern surroundings and helpful hotel staff. Excellent restaurant (my steak was one of the best I have eaten in recent months). My stay was slightly spoiled by my Spa experience. Upon arrival, the Spa was heavily booked and could offer very little from its menu, but little effort was expended to seek anything. The massage I finally chose was then changed at the last minute, and a less distant masseur could have enhanced the experience. However, I will stay at the hotel again, booking the Spa well in advance and to try it again.

Great location. Great staff. I had a superior corner room on the 14th floor that was very spacious. The gym was outfitted very well. And the pool with Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna was just what was needed after a day of much walking around Cardiff. The next time I visit Cardiff I won't even look for another hotel. This is a one for me.

Great place. Really good modern Rooms were brilliant very spacious and comfortable. Bathroom excellent. Bulk standard Buffet breakfast. Did not use gym/pool but looked excellent. Convenient for city center. Parking available but chargeable. Excellent breakfast. After a long drive from London we arrived in hotel around 19:30 Check in was carried out quickly but Only downside was that the lady at reception was extremely unfriendly. The initial reception was unwelcoming, unfortunately the same lady was on checkout.

Easily one of the best hotel experiences I have had the pleasure of staying in, The staff were exceptionally pleasant and I mean every single member from the reception, bar, restaurant, gym and everyone had a smile on their faces and were always willing to help better our experience. The breakfast was great quality and what a city Cardiff is! I have never encountered a wave of genuinely nice and very happy people especially definitely not in England! Thanks for the hospitality.

I stayed just for one night as a stop over with work and booked last minute. Was blown away with how nice hotel is and how much it offers! Lovely staff, always on hand and happy to help. Location is great, 5 min walk from town centre. Had an evening meal and went to thank chef after as fantastic, all three courses. Breakfast was brilliant, amazing choices and all really fresh. Will recommend to my friends and hope to stay again myself one day, will be my first call.

This hotel is extremely well situated, less than five minute walk from the city centre. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed and the shower was powerful. Breakfast was buffet style but with a good choice of hot and cold items. Tea/coffee was brought to the table and refilled on request by friendly and attentive staff.

The hotel was stylish and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The conference rooms were clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The food was spectacular and offered a good range of options. The only down side was that the conference rooms were too close together. The people attending both conferences had to share the break out area which could have been slightly awkward. Especially if you are not sure who the people are from your course or you are there for completely different reasons.

Loved staying here. Rooms are very big with service being excellent. Main staff are very kind and polite and sorted out any issues I had. GYm is reasonably sized and so is the pool. Bar and restaurant is very good, with great selection and food.

The rooms were big, with plenty of room, although not particularly well stocked as there weren't enough tea bags after thusly first night. Location was very useful for the city, although parking was tricky initially as the hotel car park was too busy. A good stay, with some areas that could be improved.

Came here for a hen weekend and the reception staff Paul was amazing and so helpful. The room was lovely too. Unfortunately the jacuzzi wasnt working while we were there but lovely hotel all round.

Nice on the inside but the outside is dirty and in need of a clean — windows on the 15th floor are filthy. Bedding and towels are OK but could be better. Room clean and tidy.

Stayed last weekend 1st 2nd April for my daughter's Hen party. There were 14 of us I booked the presidential suite and some rooms. Presidential suite was totally amazing much more than we expected. Other rooms were all lovely spotlessly clean modern and comfortable. Breakfast fantastic so much choice. Staff lovely so polite friendly and helpful. Hotel a stone throw away from town centre. Would definatly book again.

Thoroughly and emphatically poor. To get to the spa, you walk across the concrete car park — what a load of tat that is. I could set up a shack opposite the local David Lloyd here in Leicester and start charging mugs for some sort of pre-access fee. I'll whack in the added feature that Leicester car parks are known to have famous royals buried under them so can embellish that parking fee (ridiculous at £39 for three nights! ). The pool is dire. It's small and can get overcrowded by people. Or can become overcrowded just by extending your arms to try anything other than a doggy paddle. Beware if you have an arm span longer than a chihuahua. My Saturday morning shower resembled the tepid trickle of septuagenarian with an enlarged prostrate. Awful. Not enough hot water in the hotel apparently. 4 STARS PEOPLE! 4 blinkin' stars it ain't. The final parting kick to the kidneys comes via a hefty parking fee of £13/night. Adding £40-odd quid to an already over-priced 3 night stay takes the biscuit. We're never going back except maybe to revenge vomit on the car park after a boozed up night in what is a great city — don't worry though, if we sick up the hotel back wall, it'll be a sizeable distance from the spa.

We waited aprox 1 hour to check in as they couldn't find our booking had been paid in full. Christmas party free bar couldn't get served because we hadn't been issued the wrist bands that took about 15 minutes to track them down, some free bar it was only wine and selected beers. Seating in function room was dirty from the previous party that had been in the room. The only good thing to say about the experience was the rooms were very clean and comfortable and lots of space.

Had a lovely overnight stay here. Room was spacious and very clean. We had a package deal which inc a spa treatment, use of spa facilities, 3 course evening meal and breakfast the next morning. I couldn't fault anything.

Not a bad hotel. Recently refurbished bar area which is nice and classy. Bedrooms are large with large beds. Only problem was the double I slept in was two singles pushed together! Parking is free below the hotel and secure. Easy walking distance into the main busy areas of town for bars, restaurants and shops etc… Breakfast is buffet style and pretty good selection and quality.

Lovely hotel & food BUT no Welsh wine on the wine list! A big hotel in the centre of the capital city of Wales & not a drop of wine from a Welsh vineyard! There are over 50 vineyards in Wales producing lovely wine. The Mercure should be ashamed of itself!

Very cramped rooms, noisy guests.

They gave us a free upgrade to a high floor huge corner executive room with magnificent views of Cardiff City. The room has a very comfy king bed, a large bath with a shower/separate tub, and all the amenities we need. We had good night sleep during our stay since the room was really quiet. Free in room Wi-Fi that was A+ and signal was reliable during our stay. The location of the hotel is pretty good walking distance from the train station and all the Cardiff’s attractions. We used the hotel’s indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi and enjoyed it very much that was highly recommended if you happen to bring the swimming suits with you. We really like this good quality contemporary hotel and would definitely recommend it as a great base touring this Charming Cardiff City, the Capital of the Wales. Really enjoyed overnight stay. All expectations and needs met. Would definitely recommend.

A very good hotel with friendly staff, however it is very irritating to be served half a cup of coffee at breakfast and then have to try and catch the eye of a staff member to get a refill. I can be trusted with my own coffee, as the lack of attention in a busy dining room is too irritating for words.

If you bring a car to this place, check their car park B level first, and proceed if there are some spaces left. If not, forget it. Go to nearest car park and park there instead. This hotel is not friendly for car users at all.

Great hotel lovely staff nothing is to much trouble. Lovely views. Clean rooms what more can I say.

I love this place! we've stayed at loads of hotels in cardiff and this is the best by a long chalk! views are amazing, rooms are brilliant, large, light and very clean. I would definitely recommend it.

Stay here with work sometimes. The hotel has some nice rooms overlooking Cardiff. Nice cental location too. Noisy open plan bar can be a bit much. Rooms are clean and beds are super king size which suit me just fine. Service is satisfactory for a hotel of this type. Good is too. Overall, not to bad.
