Great hotel, brilliant service.

Celebrated my 60th birthday with my children and grandchildren, the staff were very helpful, friendly, the food was excellent therefore compliments to the chef and all working in the kitchen. My family and I will be coming again and also telling other members of my family and friends xxxx.

What a beautiful hotel and potential venue! Visited to discuss a forthcoming wedding and nothing was too much trouble for the incredible staff! Just had to have a taster session of the delicious food — all to die for and the presentation was a work of art! And of course the bride to be had to have a glass of the sparkly stuff! So recommended! We had such an amazing welcome and cannot wait to visit again soon! Thank you ALL so much x.

They went above and beyond for my daughter’s wedding.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The main function room looked amazing for both the ceremony and reception.
I cannot praise the staff enough, they were friendly, helpful and courteous. Totally professional.

Simply the best wedding venue within the area! Amazing staff and great food!

Just home from a lovely 2 night break bought for us by our daughter for our 45th wedding anniversary even though we only live a valley away we did'nt realise what a little gem the Ty Newydd is. Lovely friendly staff, lovely reasonably priced food (although real chips would have been nice, chef take note). A cream tea on Friday which would rival a Devon cream tea any day, we could'nt finish it all so the staff provided a Tupperware container so we could take what was left to our room for supper. Half the hotel has been renovated it is having more done in the early new year. Owners take note don't spoil it's character but a swimming pool, a few spa/ beauty treatments you could give the Nant Ddu a run for their money, set in those beautiful grounds.

Just got back from this lovely hotel after staying for 2 nights. It was a very relaxing weekend the hotel grounds are beautiful so quiet and tranquil our room had a lovely view. And the bed was comfortable we also made the most of the jaquzzi Bath. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was also good and there was a plenty of choice we also had an evening meal included in our stay from the set menu which was also very nice. Oh and nearly forgot we had cream tea in our room Would definitely stay again.

Held our wedding here 12.09.19 and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. We went had afternoon tea and we’ve had some amazing feedback on this, it was so fresh and the cakes were beautiful. The day went so smoothly and was well organised. Little touches on the day from the venue and staff made the difference for us on the day.

Had an amazing Hen Afternoon Tea with family, the staff are so attentive and everything tasted superb, would highly recommend — с Marie Price и ещё 2.

Went for a wedding stayed 2 nights.
We booked the pen-y-fan suite which I huge. Bed not so comfy but the room and windows lovely.
We did have bottles and cans left in the wardrobe from previous guests. The heating is always on as water and heating are joined we were told. Breakfast may have been the one thing I would not have again.
First morning was quite so ok not too much cooked so I waited for fresh but never came so ended up with toast which was a let down.
Second morning after wedding wasn’t much better even though I did mention the day before (lots of guests tomorrow your gonna need to cook more) that never happened very poor. Wedding venue was amazing as was meal, staff and evening. Hotel very old and run down but the back of hotel modern for wedding. Lovely location but not sure I’d return. I have said I’d recommend for functions,

Step back into 1980's, bath is disgusting, unclean with mold in silicone and tile grout, carpets arw 30 years old and worn, the property is very worn, unclean and crying out for refurbishment an investment. The grounds could be beautiful if some general maintenance was applied, the window cleaner must have visited 25 years ago.

Lovely restaurant… excellent choice of menu… food superb… staff so friendly and go out of their way to make you welcome… highly recommend a visit here to anyone… we will deffo be coming back again …

Stayed in room 27 (which is a disabled room) it was disgusting see photos. Hair in sink, toilet flush not working and quite obviously hasn’t been working for a while looking at how old the sign is and appears no intent to repair either. Shower full of limescale, bedroom carpet grubby and stained, curtains had holes in them and were also stained. The Mirrors also dirty. Restaurant seating also dirty food not great and very over priced.

Food very good … fabulous room, clean, super deluxe … staff extremely friendly and helpful… and most importantly they enjoyed a laugh… a good way to spend our 52 nd wedding anniversary … Would I go back? Yes …

Got married here last week, such a beautiful setting and friendly and helpful staff that can't do enough for you, including the newly acquired wedding team Jemma and Mark. Fee l felt so welcome and put at ease throughout the last year of planning and the day itself, a little hidden gem with a mixture of old and new features and surroundings xx.

5 stars Beautiful afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings what more could we want! staff were more than curtious and selection of food was great, all freshly made and even catered to my needs individually as I can't eat certain foods, we had so much that we took some home too, great value for money too, can't wait to return to a lovely welcome and well run restuarant again. Can't recommend afternoon tea enough.

Held my wedding at the Ty Newydd on 30.11.18. What a fantastic day. A massive thank you to Charlene the manager, Susan the chef and all the other staff who worked hard to make our day as special as it was. The food was absolutely amazing, and I can’t thank them enough. We will be back soon to stay over and have a meal.

The hotel is in a great location, it has a restaurant that serves edible food, and overall it is not as bad as we were fearing given that it was one of the very few that had some space for a last minute booking of a very busy bank holiday week end. Having said that, I found quite annoying that when we arrived (at around 2pm) we were told matter-of-factly that rooms wouldn't be ready until 4pm, given that check out is (IIRC) at 10am. Our room was reasonably big, but quite in need of renovation, particularly for the damp and vaguely stinky carpet and the ancient bathroom with only a dim light. A happy bunch of wedding guests had lots of fun in the parking in front of our room until about 1am as well, although I guess that's not the hotel's fault.

Great hotel, very quirky and historic. Would be better with a few more staff as sometimes there is a wait for anything as there's nobody there, however its not a massive wait so im not marking it down for this. The area around the hotel is simply stunning and really does promote relaxation.

Very polite staff. Afternoon tea very disappointing. Very little savoury (a few finger sandwiches) and the rest all sweet. Poor value for money, Would not recommend this 'high tea' to friends or family.

I can only rate on what I did. I joined some friends for a drink. I ordered the local ale. It showed the staff aren't that switched on with regards to real beer. They tried serving me a very cloudy beer, which had a strong smell of vinegar. I had to change it. The venue was really nice. It seemed busy with residents so it can't be bad as a hotel.

Lovely country hotel with great food. Our room was basic, but I suspect the other rooms with a view were nice. Excellent food and friendly staff.

The staff at this hotel are outstanding, as good as it gets in my opinion. The hotel is in a lovely quiet location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Food was plentiful, well cooked and tasty. All good, but, there's always a but. The hotel infrastructure needs updating although we found it comfy it is a bit tired as if the owners are making everything they can out of the place and not putting any investment into the property. Having said that we shall return that's for sure, if it's still there.

Went there for evening reception of wedding, lovely place.

Lovely venue, lovely gardens, lovely food, lovely drinks. Just loses a star for being out of the way and kind of a secret amongst those who know.

What a treasure we had a wonderful stay all the staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble. Hotel is a bit tired and needs a revamp.

Fantastic night celebrating a quiet meal for my 60th birthday with family last night waitress was very friendly making our night extra special two of us were gluten free and chef went out of his way to accommodate us food was amazing then to top it off we were served a birthday dessert treat and the really nice waitress even sang happy birthday to me getting other customers joining in your staff are a credit to you would highly recommend this hotel restaurant we will definately be back thank you for making my evening even more special.

A great little country hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The views around are amazing and the whole place just looks fantastic. We had our wedding there and it was better than we could ever have dreamed. The whole day went without a single issue. Everything was extremely well organised and once we had told them what we wanted we didn't have to do anything else as they made sure it was all tended to. We return there from time to time for a meal as the food there is excellent.

Only used the reaustraunt for lunch. The food is lovely, fresh and reasonable priced. The staff are brilliant. Food portions are not too big — depends what you prefer. Dessert portions were small for the price. Menu is a little limited but at least you know it's good quality. It's easy to find just off main road. I look forward to trying the evening menu.

This hotel has not had enough money spent on it in recent years and it shows. It's very tired and needs a lot of investment. The room was OK, but non-essential things were covered in dust e. G. Light fittings and pipework. Furniture was tired. The mattress was old and had a topper on top to try and make up for this. I slept ok though. Shower was excellent, very powerful and hot. Heating was not easy to control, but room was warm enough. The staff were welcoming. The restaurant was very over-priced (£18 for 2 courses) for meals that resembled school dinners. The menu was the same all week, which is rubbish for vegetarians! Coffee at breakfast was a sachet of basic Nescafe! Really poor. I would not stay again, given a choice.

Lovely building, friendly staff and excellent food. Its a 3 star due to the near threadbare carpets, room furniture on its last legs, tile grout is black with mould and so on, you get the picture. I had the superior room at that. I have to say that it was clean despite all the poor furnishings.

Awful venue and I feel it has gone downhill over the years. The food was poor and we were told to start the food before all guests arroved as another function was in later. The music was just either too loud or too low and when we arrived we were. Told to wait in a room, not decorated and given a of orange juice. It was just terrible!

Had a really good night, it was one of the Christmas festival nights, e. G. Join a party, good atmosphere and good food, not as full as expected but still good.

One star is actually too generous. I'd like to give a zero. Booked in for a Christmas fair. The weather was atrocious with roads dangerous and even closed. Tried to make contact by 8am with the venue to be told that it was not great around the hotel and probably shouldn't bother. I couldn't anyway, without putting myself at risk.
Has been no contact with hotel since, apparently they are refusing refunds. I called the tynewedd at 1:30pm on day of fair to to be told there were only 2 stalls and not to bother coming. I didn't tell them I was a stall holder, made out I was a member of the public. Even if I could have got there, a £60 event. I don't think so!

Nice n cosy welcoming atmosphere, staff were excellent even with getting partially snowed in.

Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, if it wasn't so far back home, I wouldn't have been sleeping in the room. Only got 1 star as Google won't let me post with 0! I can forgive the dated decor, but I can't forgive the lack of cleanliness, cobwebs everywhere, mould around the windows and the bathroom, plus a sofa in the room that is dirtier than a stag do in Amsterdam. The mattress is less firm than a poorly made trifle and the pillows are like kerb stones. Looking at the cracks on the walls and ceiling, I'd have serious concerns about the structural stability of the building. Ate a 3 course meal in the restaurant last night, that has unfortunately led me to find out the toilet flush is completely pointless, and believe me, it's been tested on several occasions. Breakfast was equally poor. Thought I'd have a nice relaxing shower to start my day off, turns out there's no hot water either. If I was running this place, I'd be embarrassed to be taking people's money. Book somewhere else, book anywhere else!

Was here for a wedding on Saturday which I must say was lovely. The exterior, wedding ceremony and food were lovely couldn't fault it. (Except for the coffee — Yuk) We checked in to our room with a key that had the room number on a bit of an old receipt, which kept falling out of its holder. The room we had was awful, smelt like a smoking shed when we walked in (I don't smoke myself so was quite bad even for my husband who is a smoker). The room was very dated, marks all over the furniture, dirty patch on the ceiling where there had been a leak, a leak outside our door on the landing where a bucket has been placed and some of the ceiling/coving to wall had come down. One cup between 4 people, no milk or enough condiments. Had to ask for this at reception, to find our cups were left at reception for us and not taken to our room even after me advising that there was someone in there. Then they still forgot the milk which came in a small jug that I had to ask for again and pick up from reception. Oh and the beds… serious upgrade required! If you like sleeping on a wonky mattress with springs in your back and no mattress protector then carry on. Awful… was shocked to say the least for the money we paid. I have stayed in a number of hotels in my time and this is the worst for the rooms. I appreciate its only to put your head down for the night but come on… a premier inn or travelodge would beat that room hands down.

We had our wedding here last Saturday and all I can say is they were amazing, Charlene was so helpful along with all the other staff (Angharad, and Sian to name but a few) nothing was to much trouble for anyone! The whole wedding breakfast through to the night went so smoothly and everything we asked for, and this was down to the fantastic staff! Everyone also commented on how lovely the food and day was. We would like to thank you for making our day so special and being part of it x.

Nice place with good food, close to some waterfall the waterfalls walk. It's not in a town so you will have to travel to get somewhere but that means it's peaceful there.

Normally a really great place to go for a family dinner. Last visit the food was just as fab as usual but the service was awful. Not one single person knew what they were doing… orders took too long to take and time between courses was ridiculous. We only had 2 course one being the carvery and we were sat for 3 hours! Coffees were just as comical… 8 of us ordered and 12 coffees brought… some of the coffees were a mix if tea and coffee, quite an unusual taste and 25mins waiting for sugar and milk resulted in us having to self serve from behind the bar. So disappointed would certainly reconsider any future family gathering being held here.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Do not go here. Dirty rooms. Old broken fittings in bedroom and bathroom. Rude staff. Expensive.

Both myself and my Partner stayed here the weekend and found this place very welcoming and tranquil. Just what we both need. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff at wedding were helpful and kind. Food was amazing and the weather made the day perfect. The photos do not do it justice.

Really great place to stay if you are visiting the Beacons. Staff are excellent and food is very good. Rooms are spacious and light and the cooked breakfast cannot be faulted. You won't find a better location or welcome in the Beacons.

Great staff! all very friendly and are more than happy to help. I came with a group of 7 for a work team building activity rooms were nice but slightly old. Location is great can find some good walks around the brecon beacons nearby.

Has some great things and some bad things. The good: staff are friendly, downstairs and the restaurant are very nicely decorated and the bar area has a nice atmosphere. The food was very nice. The bad: the room we were in felt very tired and the bathroom was not very clean, with black mould/scum around the bath, shower head support had broken, so you had to hold the head while showering. All the lights had dust on the top of them. Service in the restaurant on the first night was great, but on the second night was very slow. I think with a bit more attention to detail upstairs, this hotel can be fantastic.

Great meal at the restaurant, gardens are lovely and staff really welcoming. Attended with around 30 of us for a carvery meal and the staff met our every need, thanks all.

Could not fault the service the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and fresh. Breakfast was help your self and there was plenty of it, (cereals, fruit, cousants and a full cooked. ) The hotel is Situated close to brecon beacon so great Base for walkers and for sight seeing.

Staff all very polite and good size room. Bathroom door didn't have a lock but that was off no consequence as it wouldn't actually close anyway! We were also greeted by a 'short and curly' hair, sitting proudly on the edge of the bath and a toilet that really needed a better clean. We ate in the restaurant which has a nice ambience and the food was good. 50 mins between starter and main isn't really acceptable though, especially when they were clearly not busy. I NEVER usually write reviews but there were a few things that really did annoy me.

My wife and I had s fantastic afternoon tea at at The Ty Newydd Country Hotel. Sarah who was serving was great, she was helpful, friendly and the service was excellent. The afternoon tea was superb and very good value, well worth booking an afternoon tea. Hope to do it again soon.

I had a lovely 2 course lunch after visiting the Penderyn Whisky Distillery on my honeymoon. The food was fantastic, service was fast and friendly. The wife and I have been back since for a drink in the evening. It's well worth the 40 mile drive from the small lodge we're staying in.

A perfect venue for your our wedding. The staff were fantastic and made sure all our and our guests needs were met. Nothing was too much trouble. The day was excellent. Lots of photo opportunities inside and outside, places for people to wait and relax. The food was delicious, The rooms are great and comfortable. I can't praise the venue and staff highly enough.

Gorgeous new restaurant with gorgeous food. The modern take on a black forest gateaux is superb as is the lemon parfait with toasted meringue. My mouth is watering as I think of them. Excellent service. Comfortable night in a four poster in a very large room. A very good breakfast and again friendly service. Would be happy to stay again — for longer.

Stayed midweek June 4th and 5th with husband. Large room, very comfortable bed. Think this was the best sleep I've every had in a hotel. Food was excellent and mouthwatering. Three course meal in the evening and a huge Welsh breakfast in the morning. Restaurant has been updated recently. The staff were very friendly and helped us find a route to Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower as it did not come up on the satnav. Very good hidden location off the main road and plenty of parking space. Even the Welsh weather was good — sunny on both days. Will definitely come back.

I have visited several times, for lunch, coffee, we also held our wedding reception here. Each time I have experienced good service, and good food and drink. The building itself and surroundings are lovely, the atmosphere is perfect for a country hotel/restaurant, open fires and comfy furniture. I think some reviewers are rude for the sake of it.

Avoid it even if you are starving for you own good.

Nice enough room sort of shabby sheek if the furniture had been better quality ie. None of the draws worked/had runners (who uses draws why are they there they just looked really wonky, funny) massive hole in the divan with no valance, mdf toilet seat the chips looked like poo. It was tho really comfy and clean. (last room on right/back). Had booked it on groupon so was an ok price would be annoyed at anywhere near full cost. We got a deal with a cream tea, booked in at 3, went for it at 4 were told we were too late, twisted her arm and got it (why offer it free then refuse it just makes people feel cheated) really this place just needs a good handyman and some attentive staff, it looked as though there were plenty of poor people in the local town who might want work.
