Review of Knock Castle Hotel & Spa 4*

I booked this hotel as birthday gift for my daughter checked out the reviews and website it looked to be exactly what we were looking for, we arrived and to be honest were a wee bit underwhelmed on first impressions, we were taken to our room in the annex of the building it was so disappointing the bed looked like someone had been sleeping in it before we arrived crumpled bed covers tiny room gorgeous bathroom but let's face it we would not be spending much time in the bathroom, I was so annoyed I had a vision of a lovely castle room and had been given a very down market budget room, looking round and the place is like two separate hotels. I requested to be moved which was not a problem to the girl at reception who took us to see an alternative room which was what I had been under the impression we would be getting in the first place, we had a lovely stay the hotel was very quiet hardly any guests which was fantastic as we had the pool and spa area to ourselves comfy bed and lovely breakfast. On checking out this morning I mentioned to the chap a reception it was a real shame we had the terrible first impression on arrival, he seeming totally disinterested and replied 'you will be glad you got moved then ' I would have understood if the hotel was busy and they had no alternative but to use the annex why oh why not try to give the best first impression always especially to first time guests surely then the guests will return and also spread the good word bad customer service from whoever manages room allocations.
