We spent our first week of holiday in the Cairngorms at the Auld Alliance in Kingussie and found a cozy house with character and charm. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, Lydie. Our room on the ground floor was spacious enough for a stay of several days and the décor tastefully reflected the character of the house in a fusion of old and modern. Opportunities to hang clothes were sufficient, but few opportunities to put on clothes, which didn't bother us any further. In addition to the usual equipment in Scotland, the room also had a small carafe with whisky and water bottles. These were replenished and replaced daily. Also in the bathroom you could find everything you needed. However, there was no power outlet there. A little disturbing was the loud ventilation, which could not be switched separately from the light. At night we took a flashlight. The breakfast with a view of the mountains was fantastic and consisted of several courses, which you could choose a la carte. Everything was imaginative and freshly prepared. One evening we took part in the 4-course dinner. This one, too, was excellent and worth every penny. We would go back there at any time.
