Very impressive appearance already from the outside that continues inside. Very nice salons and great bar. Very nice and large rooms that were clean, including the bathroom.
The food in the very nice and cozy bistro was excellent and price-acceptable.
We can fully recommend this hotel.

Came here for a wedding. Brilliant staff everything was perfect and not as expensive as I expected.

We were there for a wedding. Absolutely lovely. First class service and the food was great as well. Couldn't ask for more.

Outstanding food for groups or parties. We had a work retirement gathering with over 30 people present. The food was served promptly and the quality was excellent. The service staff were quick, polite and very helpful. The decor is well maintained and the prices are very reasonable.

Bit tatty around the edges. Room was small for the price we paid. Surroundings are beautiful.

Another lovely visit to special hotel, standards high as usual.

First time at Balbirnie brasserie, food was excellent, service as becomes a 4* and under £10 for two courses. This will be a regular occurrence me thinks.

Went to orengery for dinner been on lots of occasions but tonight the service was very disappointing young girls trying there best but all lack in experience as a buisness owner I purchase vouchers for various reasons but will be thinking very carefully in future.

Only a £5 taxi from the local train station. Good selection of drinks and food.

The reception staff were very attentive and friendly, the rooms were clean and had modern appliances that didn't take any charm away from the older style of the hotel. The downstairs restaurant had fantastic food albeit the service downstairs was slightly less than that upstairs (I would understand if it was manic busy, but it was fairly quiet)

We were here to celebrate our daughters 30th Birthday staff were absolutely brilliant put up all the decorations for us room looked wonderful when they had finished our meal was excellent staff very attentive throughout will use this venue again.

We visited for a family wedding, spent two days and nights. The House and grounds are in a lovely setting with plenty of open space and parking over a few car parks, lots of places to walk about. The access is generally good with provision for disabled and pushchair access in and around the building. Our rooms were very spacious and we could control the temperature, though the building in public areas could get a little too warm at times. The food was very good and the hosts all polite and welcoming and the rooms were kept clean. We did wait too long for lunch one day, but apart from that everything was timely and the standard was very good.

I was only in the house for a couple of hours, but what I saw of it was pure splendour, beautiful decor and immaculately clean.

Hotel is beautiful but unfortunately service is terrible. First night I arrived after kitchen was closed but still offered some food, a waitress brought the menu but after one hour no one came to check what I wanted. Second day for breakfast they asked what I wanted for my cooked breakfast. Despite being the only guest in the restaurant after 15 minutes a couple of fried eggs and some baked beans didn’t make my table and I have to leave. Disappointed.

Stayed overnight. The food at dinner was terrible. Breakfast was a buffet that wasn't edible. The sausages are the worst I've tasted in a long time. The room wasn't worth £145. It was old and dated. Needs upgraded and brought up to date. Also had a horrible shower curtain on the bath that needs replaced with a shower screen. The bed wasn't comfortable. The only positive was the grounds are nice and there's a nice bar area that has been recently refurbished. Although the bar prices are the same as London prices. I won't be back.

Just been to a wedding and the staff are brilliant and venue fabulous. Meal was excellent and I honestly have no minuses. Great!

The best wedding venue in Scotland with the most caring and understanding staff. There are reasons why it wins so many awards.

I have only attended this venue for family events. Catering is peerless. Lovely setting in a extensive parkland with golf course. Plan to spend more time on a break in the future.

Really nice venue, easy to get to with plenty of free parking. For a wedding it's ideal as everything can be done in the one location. Food and service was good and efficient.

Had lunch in their bistro which is in the basement. I found it a little too small and dark. It certainly doesn't fit in with the grandeur of the rest of the building. I felt I was missing the sunny weather and beautiful rooms above. The food was very tasty and enjoyable. The portions were lunch sized (no surprise there) but the prices were more like mains. Most dishes were served on pretentious wooden boards. Not ideal if you have whole boiled potatoes. Overall, the food was enjoyable and I would have gladly paid the premium if I wasn't eating in a dungeon.

Lovly place, drinks prices can be a bit expensive though.

As a Family that have held a Wedding at Balbirnie House I was shocked and saddened to see that Balbirnie House has endorsed SNP Candidate for the Scottish Parliamentary Elections in May 2016, so please be aware of this Hotel's political views when deciding if you wish to give it your Custom. You may also want to ask Balbirnie House if it endorses the SNP's Named Person Policy too?

Due to reading some very disturbing comments from this Hotels social media site of its claims of politicising itself and promoting the Scottish nationalist party. I found most disturbing of all the MD Balbernie house making claims that his 115 staff all want Scottish independence, I'm not quite sure how you employ staff that disclose such a claim or how a manager or human resources department would legally gather such information. Under Scottish and EU laws of employment employees are entitled to equal rights and diversity in their work place, this undoubtably puts into question how this hotel is operating within these laws. When I cordially debated such requesting the purpose of these claims, I was told you're flying the Union Flag, my comments after some discussion were removed and I was blocked from further comments. I can only imagine the reference to the United Kingdom flag mentioned was one of a racist remark considering there is nothing visual on my profile, and my questions were opposed to his political referencing. I can honestly I would not or recommend this hotel in its current management.

Balbirnie House is beautiful! I would recommend to anyone looking to discover bonnie Scotland. Staff were friendly and professional. Thank you.

Spent a great day and night at a wedding at Balbirnie on Easter Sunday. Beautiful building and decent service. Only gripe is that the drink prices are expensive and they also took away the evening buffet food pretty sharpish. It could have been left to nibble on.

Welcoming and attentive staff. Lovely room with large comfy bed. Food was the highlight. We enjoyed the 4-course dinner and it was superb. Very high quality of cooking that we couldn't fault. Breakfast also good. Public rooms also very nice and plenty of space to find a comfy space to relax. Grounds also good for a walk. All in all, v difficult to fault — my only complaint was the piped 'musak' in the dining room!

We attended a wedding at Balbirnie House and we're throughly impressed. The place is absolutely beautiful both inside and out.

Lovely hotel set in quite country park beautiful location, a quite ambiance with great food and within easy reach of Edinburgh and St. Andrews.

Hi slim hope you had a fab holiday and didn't have to use the love spoon to often. Had a great time at the wedding tell the girls that you all looked lovely speak soon love and hugs the twa auld farts cxxx.

Beautiful and great value for money! I would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was amazing too, a great taste of Scotland :).

Stay fairly regularly its a bit faulty towers but a beautiful old building and the food is very good.

Ordered red wine and Kir — got white wine and sparkling wine, sent back, got red wine as ordered but Kir was made with warm white wine. Put in new glass with ice. Ordered meal. Starter was arbroath smokie with a moose and creme fresh, was ok but moose and creme fresh mixed together. Took empty starter plates away and within 2 minutes our main courses arrived. I could not eat mine as the pork belly was dry and tough, the mustard mash was soooo salty I was nearly sick. Complained. We didn't pay for that course and had a cheese and a brandy free of charge. Spoiled the night and would never go back.
