We found this by chance. It is a hidden gem. Had a lovely meal. They offer a separate salad bar, well set out and lots of choice. Friendly waiter. Bottle of chilled water provided without having to be asked for. Very reasonably priced. Noticed that they offered a gluten free pud. Great view over the River Forth. Definitely recommend this place.

Chambre impeccable, restaurant très bon, petit-déjeuner correct, service sympathique. Dans la chambre on apprécie le tapis anti-dérapant dans la baignoire, le sèche-cheveux, la planche à repasser, la douceur des draps et le confort du matelas. L'hôtel et ses extérieurs sont charmants notamment avec la vue sur la rivière. Parking pour la clientèle.

Old style hotel but comfortable. Very dated rooms and bathrooms but adequate, good showers and comfy beds. Dinner was bland but all service from arrival to checkout was efficient and friendly. Our breakfast was very good. I would return if in the area.

2nd time I have been here for a wedding nice and cozy and they accept chip and pin @ the bar. Good for the night out not for the bank ballance.

Me and my fiancè recently stayed here as we had recently got engaged and wanted time away, the staff were fantastic and very attentive and our room was nice enough for a standard room however could have done with a paint job, the food was a big let down as the dinner was served very quickly and there was clearly no effort put into making it and quite over priced for the qualty, the manager was rude at times and didn't make eye contact when talking to us, dinner service was a bit slow as only one member of staff was on and the boss didn't have any intention of helping, don't think we will be returning here any time in the future.

Very quiet and tranquil beautiful views and would be a nice romantic break it also has a wedding room and reception rooms and a quaint little bar. Just lovely.

The Elgin Hotel is a bit oldy worldy bit that's not necessarily a bad thing. The rooms are old fashioned but clean and well appointed. Breakfast was fab and staff are lovely. I would stay again.

Nice place good food friendly staff. Good place to go if you want a quite break away from the rat race that is city life.

My wife and I were guests at a recent wedding. We were present at the hotel for the ceremony which was held at the hotel chapel, the meal and the reception. Overall we has a good experience. The chapel is fairly small but was perfect for the amount of guests present, around 40. The meal was served quickly, maybe too quickly between courses to be honest. The food was good and so was the service. The dinning area was quickly rearranged to cater for the evening reception. The quests had to move to the lounge seating areas to alow staff to move tables and chairs away. This was fine as that didn't take long and the lounge area was comfortable enough. We stayed overnight in one of the hotels 16 rooms. The room was basic and the bed linen although clean was a little tired. The whole room was clean but again a little dated, could do with a refurbishment. Pleasent enough for our one night stay, although a little pricey for the standard received. I would stay there again though as overall we had a good night.

Food is okay, bit over priced though. Drinks are also expensive. Place is dated but clean. Staff are lovely and service was great.

2nd time here recently, great views-fantastic breakfast, lovely rooms little bit disappointed with evening meal on this occasion but certainly will be back.

I was there to visit as the hotel will be used for a wedding, so it was to check the place out. It looks beautiful and the staff was friendly.

Lovely little hotel in the even lovelier village of Charlestown. Highly recommended. Beautiful gardens and plenty of parking. Make sure to walk around the village as there are some beautiful cottages and gardens. Great home baking available in the post office too!

Was at my stepdaughter's wedding yesterday at the Elgin and it was just perfect. Everything went like clockwork, thanks to the staff, and I can't recommend this place highly enough. Well done Rob and your staff.

Was here for a wedding recently and it was lovely. Beautiful archway in the gardens and a beautiful view over the forth. Bar staff were friendly and helpful and the drinks weren't too expensive either! Great evening.

Nice lunch menu at a very reasonable price. Great salad bar. Fantastic location with spectacular views over the firth of Forth.

It was crap never even got breakfast terrible hotel.

What a lovely place food was really good and plenty of it. They gave us the honeymoon suite because of my wife turning 2x 30 room was beautiful with views over the forth xxx.

So we do the big Hotel Chains because its convenient! but never again! what a brilliant experience staying at a character Hotel with personality and values of service and a fantastic setting! our room had a dual aspect of the Forth and the village green! the staff at the Elgin are second to none and cater for your every need! good hot wholesome food at breakfast lunch and dinner made it for us! we will certainly be back! a huge thank you to Tina and staff for treating us like friends!

We stayed at begining of march for 2 days, the staff and manager were wonderful and couldn't do enough for you, the room was lovely and warm and there were lots of towels and hot water+ tea and coffee making facilities and there was a lovely view over the forth. We had a meal in the restaurant which was lovely and hot, there was loads to chose from at breakfast from cereals, fruit juices a cooked breakfast and toast. Will stay here again it was brill.

My wife and I along with another couple (our friends) spent two nights at the Elgin in the middle of May. The Hotel is well appointed with very good facilities and in an excellent location. Food in the evening was very good and the breakfast substantial. The staff were friendly and helpful and the owner very knowledgeable and informative about the local area especially about the Forth Bridges and the local shipbuilding activity. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be pleased to recommend the hotel to others.

Service was not good. Waited 45minutes for a meal. Then had too send back as it was as tough as old boots.

Brilliant Place! The food is first class, all home cooked. Their 'High Tea' on a Sunday afternoon (served from 4pm to 6pm) is top notch traditional fayre and at under a tenner is amongst the best value I've come across! The staff are attentive and — like the food — top notch! The view from the restaurant is tremendous. The rooms are extremely comfortable. The only downside is the price for drink which is 'slightly' more expensive than I would have thought.

I had a fantastic stay at The Elgin Hotel where the attentive and friendly staff made sure that I wanted for nothing. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
