A lovely meal with fast, friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. Very enjoyable.

Had a lovely time at the waterfront. We sat outside with our dog as the weather was lovely. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was great. We will definitely be back. ♥️

Accommodated 6 of us no problem, staff friendly and attentive, reasonably priced, perfect sized portions, nice crispy batter for the fish, and a very smokey flavoursome Smoked Fish Lasagne, homemade onion rings were amazing too.

Just had a wonderful meal at the Waterfront Anstruther, staff really helpful and friendly and the food is excellent in a really nice atmosphere. I would really recommend this restaurant, very good.

Just stopped for a coffee but staff were friendly and helpful. I got a complimentary shortbread biscuits with my coffee. This is a lovely sitooterie on a sunny day, great for people watching.

An excellent restaurant and a great place to stay. Never been disappointed. Staff friendly and first class.

Went there at lunchtime today. Food was okay but the service was a disgrace. We were offered the dessert menu but despite waiting at least 15 mins for someone to come back to take our order nobody appeared. Tried to attract the attention of the staff several times to no avail so gave up, and paid as we left. Won’t be back and won’t recommend.

Had a meal here tonight. Perfect! Staff so welcoming on arrival. Food delicious. Staff very attentive but not intrusive. Would definitely return. Had a lovely night.

We stayed one night in an old Granary room. It was spotlessly clean comfortable moderne& spacious. The kind of room you could actually unpack your bag & stay for a week

Love the Waterfront, food was just great but in these times and weather, it would of been so nice, if the radiator at the window seats was on, eating food with jackets and coats was really not comfortable, it was freezing. We did ask for it to be switched on. But no.

Lovely place. Fish and chips were delicious and homemade tartar sauce was amazing. Malbec wine was equally as good. Enjoyed it so much.

Hard a lovely dinner last night! Mussels chicken with haggis and creme brûlée! Staff lovely, attentive polite and helpful! Great breakfast this morning, filling and tasty! We are staying again tonight and wish restaurant was open again as food was extremely good! Realise staff need a well earned break as 1st January! Glad to be returning in February! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The apartments are lovely with a homely feel to them. The Waterfront restaurant is fantastic with excellent service… I would highly recommend both.

Staff were nice and welcoming, lovely and clean/modern inside with lovely views. We had the high tea option and I had mac and cheese, my companion had a bacon and cheese burger. Food was really lovely and the scones/cakes were to die for. The price was unbelievable, would have happily paid the same for the tea or main course by itself. Highly recommend :)

Lovely wee place and very friendly staff only point to make is. I had a hot chocalate but wasn’t very chocolate more milky so was very good.

Stayed for 4 nights. Accommodation ok. Beds hard, noise from the kitchen right outside our bedroom window. Slamming doors as people went in and out of their rooms. TV easily heard from next door. Squeaky floor boards from room above. Staff friendly and very helpful. Food ok. Would we stay again probably not.

Have used this venue for meals and regular morning coffee since it opened and service and food has always been second to none. Staff attentive and polite and lots of space between tables which is a welcome change if u want a bit of privacy to chat.

Very nice clean and welcoming. Staff very polite and helpful. Meal and prices very fair. Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream yum. Only one bad point tiny bit of bone in fish. But it was small.

We visited The Waterhouse for a family birthday celebration. As it was before 7pm, we had the high tea menu which included a main meal, toast/bread, cakes, scones and tea or coffee. Food was delicious and service was good. I would definitely recommend it.

Clean and cool restaurant that is directly across from harbour in Anstruther. Given the summer we are having, the air con was a blessing. Food was decent and reasonably priced. Waiting staff were quite young and lacked a bit of a personal touch but didn't detract from the overall experience. Scottish breakfast was good and food well presented.

We had dinner at the restaurant with some more than generous rations. Good quality of raw material and a standard price. The best is definitely the size of the ration. As for the accommodation a very good large room and with an extra large bed. Insigne.

We had just been out for a sail to the Isle of May and were in serious need of food when we got back ashore. We had seen this restaurant on a previous visit to Anstruther last year so decided to head straight here for dinner. We both ordered the seafood platter. Fantastic! They were even kind enough to box up the leftovers for later. A busy place, but with an excellent menu and friendly staff. Will definitely eat there again.

Quality can vary a little but generally good. This time the Cullen Skink was a little watery, the normally sizzling fajita dish looked a little lifeless and the high tea cakes slightly sad. It's been great previously though so we will persevere.

Fabulous breakfast. Eggs Benedict were just right. Haddock & Scottish Full breakfast all first class.

High tea a Scottish quirk served at waterfront was a bit disappointing. Offered more tea to discover they had added more water but no more tea translucent not a good taste. Then the haddock lasagne… Tiny portion couldn't tell fish from lasagne sheet. Then the cream scone not sure what recipe they are using but this was soft sponge like just out of the microwave. Huge pity as I have been before and it was lush hope it gets its act together… Not going back for a while.

Really nice wee restaurant, right on the front in Anstruther. Lovely staff, good atmosphere. Have been here for a breakfast in the past — absolutely fab! Fresh cooked on the premises, served with a smile which is always nice in the morning :-) Dinner service is also good. Came here on the off chance of getting a table after finding the famous chip shop 2 mins along the road was queued right out the door with massive waiting times for table. We were able to get a table at the Waterfront no problem — maybe we were just lucky and it's probably best to book in high season? The food was delicious — battered smoked haddock with chips and peas etc — Beautiful, fresh, well cooked food. Again — although really busy — atmosphere was great, staff helpful and pleasant. A good mixture of clientele as well — from families like ours to couples on cosy wee dates to older folks, enjoying the grub. A fab wee restaurant!

Had a lovely lunch here. Their chicken soup was delicious as well as their fish and chips. Very helpful and attentive staff.

Table for three! Super menu, lovely food, attentive but not obtrusive service. Very happy to change meal components to better suit our tastes. Very reasonable prices. We would recommend it.

We visited today! Myself and two daughters. We had a lovely meal really did enjoy the food. I had sea bass which looked fabulous and tasted as good as it looked, my girls had Haddock and a burger. Haddock was lovely, the batter was just right which could be a deal breaker and the burger was really well done and from being off the children’s menu it was a really good burger. So well done to the team
behind the scenes.
The chap that waited on us was very attentive also. My only complaint was that the girl behind the bar proceeded to polish cutlery in the bar … you may think really what’s the issue… well it crated on every nerve we have! The constant crashing of cutlery onto the tray really needs to be done back of house. We were the only customers in the restaurant so was very quiet, so the constant bang of cutlery was not so appealing. Remember please noice travels.

Good high tea but 3 of 5 scones hadn't been fully baked.

Had an amazing family meal, travelled over an hour and it was definatley worth it, value for money is amazing! The food is incredible! The staff are lovely and friendly! We will 100% be back here!

We paid £100 for Room 1 — a ‘double’ room which turned out to be two singles clipped together. Fine if you want to have around 3 feet between you and your loved one otherwise someone is sleeping on the joint between the mattresses. I had hoped for something quirky and in keeping with the fabulous area but the whole place was painted wholesale in magnolia. Add that to bland furniture and I could have been in a premier Inn anywhere in the country. Although my room had the added bonus of a smell of old wet linen, the source of which eluded us. Tv reception is very poor and I found it impossible to watch any channel without the picture breaking up. Someone mentioned in another post that the Wi-Fi is poor. It is. Unless you are in the restaurant. Staff are friendly enough and the breakfast is ok. If you can get a b&b deal at £45 — £60 it’s worth it (though not room 1). Otherwise I’d try one of the many other B&B’s in the area. You’d also not have to go outside for your breakfast. I’ve just read the response from the Waterfront. They are right that there place is not for me — at that price point. They do not address the bad smell. The Wi-Fi must have been upgraded on Easter Sunday as I left on the Saturday and it was very poor then. They do not advertise on their website that their double is two singles stuck together. A great place to stay and the food is very good. The staff are very helpful had a most enjoyable stay.

Following a lovely previous stay for myself and my husband, my parents and in laws were due to arrive today for a 2 night break using up a Christmas present. My mother in law phoned to change the date because of the severe weather conditions and was told that they would incur a £60 PER COUPLE surcharge to change the date to another off peak date even though police Scotland have advised against travelling unless completely necessary! Totally disgusted. I commented on a post from them and they have now deleted my comment and blocked me, that looks great for you waterfront hotel! NANCY CALLAGHAN REVIEW: Shame on you The Waterfront… disappointing action The Waterfront are taking in this instance… well said Elaine Callaghan / Paul Callaghan. Both couples very reluctantly followed the advice issued by Police Scotland not to travel as they were really looking forward to staying at the hotel this weekend as a well earned break was needed. And quite frankly Waterfront your recent post at an attempt of an apology is also poor. To take the action to block my niece Elaine Callaghan is really unprofessional! People are entitled to their views and have a right to express them… hence REVIEW! I agree too with Cathleen McCarthys review that the best form of advertising is word of mouth… particuarly in this situation. Therefore I am happy to share this post.

One of our favourite places when we visit anstruther. Delicious food.

There for my mum's special 70th birthday meal. They may have been busy but it's absolutely no excuse for tiny tiny scallops… re-heated dry and hard chicken fajitas that weren't even sizzling on arrival and swimming in oil… over cooked dry fish in dark brown crispy batter!
Won't be back. A shame really as came highly recommended.

Booked via Itison for 2 night break incl breakfast and 40 voucher for dinner. Wow fabulous deal, very kind staff, great rooms, warm, clean, brilliant breakfast, great evening meal, book you will not regret it. .

It is a great place to stay and the breakfast is fab, super complete and with lots of options. They were very flexible and accommodate ALL our requests. 100% Recommended!

Just back home after a most enjoyable two day break. The room was spacious an freshly decorated. Also well supplied with bottled water and tea, coffee, and shortbread. The bathroom was well appointed and also spacious. One criticism, there well no hand holds for use when showering in the bath and it is was not easy for us (older) people to get in and out. The restaurant was welcoming with very attentive staff. The food, heavily biased towards fish, was first class. Finally the prices were modest and I can highly recommend a stay or restaurant meal at the Waterfront.

Very nice accommodations. Good food and very good service in the restaurant and housekeeping. Breakfast included, and we chose to eat alot of our lunch and dinner at the Waterfront also. Views from the Waterfront are beautiful, right on main street.

Nice hotel with restaurant. The rooms are large enough but the bed was a bit small. Large bathroom. The dinner at the attached restaurant was of medium quality.

Really nice vibe, waitress was great. She even got our dog (Mylo) a drink. Tea and scones were lovely and I hear the coffee was also great.

Great location and nice menu selection. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. Could be doing with a better selection of beers but other than that no complaints at all. Staff were all helpful and friendly too.

This restaurant is in a great location (on the high street overlooking the harbour) and is always busy (reservations required for a guaranteed seat during sunny days and bank holiday weekends). The waiting staff are friendly, however, the food left a lot to be desired. 4 of us dined here and only 1 enjoyed their meal. I personally found it tasteless. Pricewise it is as expected, the average starter is £5, main course £12 and dessert £5.

This is a lovely B&B right across from the water front. Our room was in the back through an alley way and up some stairs. Booking at the last minute we got a huge room with bunk bed, double bed, seating area. The town if Anstruther is small and quaint. We went for a nice walk before dinner. We would definitely stay here again.

The trouble with Anstruther is that too many places sell excellent fish and chips. My little brain malfunctions in these situations. They are all good but the Waterfront chippie owned by the same hotel of that name were the best fish and chips l have ever tasted. I stayed in the Waterfront hotel and its sister the Bank Hotel and the rooms, service and value for money are astounding. The breakfasts are served fresh and are delicious with really good ingredients. All establishments highly recommended.

From the welcome, to the prompt & courteous service of the best presented fish and chips I have ever had my disappointment at not getting into the nearby award winning chipper was allayed. Having just missed a squeeze in our first choice I wholeheartedly recommend this gem of a dining experience. Finally its closer to the amble along the pier to see where the day's catch is landed.

The silence when eating our fresh haddock and chips said it all! Very good quality fish and chips. The batter was light, crisp and well drained. The fish which was haddock was as thick as it can be these days, fresh and tasty. The chips were soft in the middle, with some crispy and some just well cooked. Its really worth passing though Anstruther just for the fish and chips from the Waterfront.

The Waterfront makes a decent go of fish and chips against some pretty stiff competition. Work is needed on the service (which is s. L. O. W. ) and the layout… avoid the table where you have to eat one-handed due to being jammed up against a pillar. Middling, I would say.

Just AWESOME perfect large fish, great chips. Miles better than the over hyped Anstruther fish bar (over priced crap) this place just great. A+++++++.
