Friendly staff, friendly atmosphere and good food and reasonable priced definitely recommend.

Love this hotel, normally visit in February so nice to be there in the summer, grounds look lovely. Renovations are beautiful and food was excellent. Everyone is so friendly, can’t recommend enough.

Fabulous stay, highly recommended. Grounds are stunning, hotel is immaculate, diner & breakfast was exceptional. Menu at dinner was lovely, so many great dishes to choose from. Service was to the point. What I noticed was the cleanliness, window ledges, skirtings, radiators etc were all immaculate, not that I went looking it was more because of how sheer white & clean they all were. No scuffed walls or torn carpets, all absolutely perfect. Bedroom was very spacious, bed was super comfortable & the bathroom was gorgeous especially loving the heated mirror. Owners & staff super friendly & helpful. Definitely 5 stars from me. Would love to come back at Xmas & see that beautiful drive way all lit up & a huge Xmas tree outside, simply stunning.

Nice food went for a birthday meal safe social distancing.

Great stop over especially if you have a doggie. Very accommodating. Oh the beds aren’t too bad either!

Family run hotel, very welcoming and friendly staff. The food was very tasty, good choices on the menu, breakfast was filling and a great start to your day. The rooms were quiet and very clean and tidy.

Rude staff and horrible food
The standards of the hotel have really dropped since the last time I visited maybe something to do with the lack of staff after a mass walk out, but the customer experience can not be effect by staff levels in order to provide a success Customer experience.

Absolutely ridiculous! the amount of money we payed to have our prom here and the bar shuts at 9! me talking as an 18+ is a joke DO NOT RECOMMEND. The food is average and is not up to scratch the manager is cheeky and feels like getting up close and shouting at an 18 year old girl is acceptable.

We booked a table of 19 for Hogmanay along with several rooms. The hotel could not have been more helpful from start to finish. The rooms were first class, as was the food, staff and entertainment. Thank you to everyone at the Woodland House Hotel for a fantastic evening.

Great place for food would recommend woodlands to anyone been a few times with family.

Hotel has slow Wi-Fi, only provides toiletries to premier guests, staff leave extras you request for on the floor outside of your door, an unprofessional manner, rather than put it in your room like other 21st century hotel. Finally, breakfast was mediocre and choice was limited. The only positive is its view.

A lovely welcoming dog friendly hotel. Very clean. Tea coffee etc in you room. You have your own very large bathroom with full size bath and shower plus double sinks. You have TV with free Wi-Fi. There is work going on building more to the hotel but it's all well fence of and doesn't mess with your hoilday. Work is done in close season. This was our 2nd visit and we will be useing again. All staff were so friendly as well.

I booked two nights for myself and my cockapoo. When I arrived there was a wedding taking place, and had pretty much taken over all the public rooms.
At reception, I was handed my key and told to return it on departure! Then asked what time I was having breakfast, I had been there all of five minutes, told your room is down the corridor!
No help with bags or shown to my room, I couldn't drive to the main entrance because of the wedding party. So told to use the staff carpark as it was nearer our room!
Four trips back and forth to unload my car, with Benjiboo in tow!

Dog friendly I think not!
Not so much as a water bowl in the bar!
When I ventured into the bar later, staff came over and said, no dogs allowed in her after 5.30 pm, omitting to say till 9pm!
Nowhere to go but our room, where we stayed hungry and fed up till the next day.
I have no idea what the extra £10 a night for my dog friendly room and stay covered, it was far from that.
Unfriendly staff, unhelpful, mediocre breakfast, only cooked available. Continental goodies? None.
Checked out after one night.

On behalf of myself and my husband we would like to thank the Woodlands for making our wedding day on the 10th March amazing. We would like to give a special mention to Peter, who went above and beyond both on the lead up to the day and on the day itself to make sure things ran smoothly and genuinely being a pleasure to deal with. We can't thank you enough. All the food that was served was amazing, from the hotel breakfast to the wedding meal to the evening buffet, it was all… delicious and we received alot of compliments from our guests. The staff were just brilliant. They were all so friendly and accomodating and are a credit to the hotel. Thank you again for the amazing service and making our day so special.

Grand old building set in beautiful surroundings. Only stayed overnight whilst attending a function in Dumfries. Very comfortable bedroom well presented and an excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Helpful friendly staff. Late night bar with obliging barmen when we returned from function. Looking at bit dated in places. Hotel appearance spoilt by steel structure on the side. Would recommend it though.

Location set in lovely grounds. The gables were set up beautifully fpr our meal for 25 family members. Food lovely. Some complained portion size was too small but for me they were perfect. Swrvice was excellent. Vety quick. Can't commeent on the rooms as I never stayed but I would definitely recomenet this hotel.

Lovely staff, great service, cosey rooms — my only criticism is the lack of healthy foods (salads etc) on the dinner menu.

Keith and I would like to thank all staff for the top notch hospitality and making our wedding day so special. Nothing we asked of was too much trouble. It was a magnificent day at a beautiful setting.

Went to visit family who were staying. Rooms looked fantastic, staff very welcoming to all of us. Stayed for a lovely meal, well looked after so went back for breakfast next day. 1 missed order on a group of 10 but quickly sorted!

Good service and nice food.

We stayed here for the 2 day Hogmanay Package and it was great. The Hogmanay party was fab and the 2nd nights dinner and breakfasts in the hotel/Bar were very good with pleasant helpful staff. The bedroom was large with a great modern bathroom and very clean.

Avoid! If you are looking for a place where you can be insulted and spoken to like an idiot, then this is ideal. The owner is arrogant, rude and capable of looking at everyone down his nose. There are better places to goto in Dumfries.

This is a great hotel with fantastic rooms. Ignore the building work the important parts are all done. The rooms are excellent and the food good too. Expect a super friendly Scottish welcome, nice bar area and first class breakfasts. I used this place for work and it's great value for money. It's quirky, unusual but I love it.

I have attended a few meetings and found the hotel very welcoming and the food is good. George has booked function room for the Solway Fair so have a great day.
