After waiting half an hour, the owner gave the first free table to someone he knew who was 14th in the queue. I've just received a nasty message from him too after pointing out how unacceptable this was. 13 people were annoyed at your behaviour.

Food was delicious! staff are all very friendly… the views are STUNNING!

Always very welcoming and accommodating. Delicious menu which I’ve worked my way thru and none disappointed. Great service and portion size. Lovely ambience and always feels like holiday. Great views that inspire post walks.

Food was absolutely delicious. Location and decor beautiful as well and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our only criticism was the fact that there was only 1 toilet available for the whole cafe.

I was here on Saturday and I had the breakfast salad it was delicious and very good service.

The best breakfast bap I have ever tasted 😋 black pudding was to die for. Lovely staff, very friendly and quick service. Will definitely be returning to try other menu items.

I recommend all their menu, soup always delicious with sourdough. A guacamole to die for and eggs always soft-cooked to perfection. I've never had a bad meal and we have had their takeaways to celebrate all our lockdown birthdays.

We had take out coffee and a portion of large chunky chips today. I just can’t tell you how amazingly tasty those chips were. I actually think they should be named something else, ‘chips’ is just too basic a term for those extra tasty, extra chunky yummy, yummy chips. We are in our ‘elder’ yearsand have eaten, nay also cooked, many a chip in our lifetime but I tell you the Starfish chunky chips are beyond compare.

Hello, The first time we stayed at Cairn Bay Lodge was so good we have revisited four times. The welcome at this wonderful house and the meals, never fails to please and together with the ambience, the view across Ballyholme Bay is always pleasing at all times of year. So yes, we will return, and take a tip, this little gem often booked in advance! Michael Clark.

Lovely, different, good food, great value. So impressive, so welcoming visited with family was lucky enough to dine outside, but looking forward to cosy winter visits as well. I will be taking family and friends to visit this place with its great menu and super staff. Opps hope I can still get a table.

Without a doubt, this place is my faveourite spot for breakfast. Everything I have had off the menu is gorgeous. I am yet to hear of someone who has been and not enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and accommodating even though they are rushed off their feet all day. You get free refills of gorgeous coffee and everything is reasonably priced. Top tip — go early for a window seat with a view over the beautiful water. The cafe is not open on Sundays or Mondays. Holiday hours are posted on their Facebook page.

My parents stayed here and had the most amazing time. The staff took such good care of them, when they come back go visit they won't stay anywhere else!

Cairn Bay Lodge does fabulous breakfasts! However our bed, although perfectly clean, needed to be renewed.

Can be slow and a bit fussy. Sometimes i'm just hungry and need food without the small talk. Delightful ambience, location and surroundings.

Lovely friendly family atmosphere and very child friendly. Great for chatting over coffee or having a meal. Right beside the sea and open spaces. Well worth stopping here.

Beautiful. We went for Breakfast and booked in for 1 night B. B. So good friendly clean comfortable and Unique. Rooms are very different in such a good way. Gr8 views and parking. A real Find. Enjoy like We did. Graham Henry.

Went to the Starfish for breakfast this morning having been there for lunch on Wednesday. Food excellent and service always fast and friendly. Favourite place to eat in Bangor.

Breakfast, brunch and lunch All lovely some interesting dishes and the food is very tasty and freshly prepared. The owner and his staff are very friendly and welcoming. Some comfy seating with great views at the front of Ballyholme Bay.

Great place to stay and even better breakfast loved it will be back.

Thoroughly impressed! I came to Bangor with my partner to visit relatives, so we needed somewhere to stay for one night. The Cairn Bay was a great choice. It is a great find at a good price. Slightly quirky (in a nice way). Great breakfast menu — none of the standard cheap, over cooked and greasy B&B fare here! There are always niggles with any place, but at this price we really couldn’t complain at the service, cleanliness or the food. We’ll be back!

Stunning beachside location, we went for morning coffee where we received great service and coffee.

A small treasure right by the sea 10 min walk by the sea to the city lovingly furnished rooms good breakfast.

Feels like you're walking into someone's front room, but the welcome is warm and the food great.

Booked 2 nights, but left after one. Room was shabby with bric a brac furniture, no proper En suite, 9 mirrors including one opposite the bed that was the full height and width of the wall, view of fire escape, broken toilet. Owner visited room at 10pm after we had retired. We did escape without paying for the second night but with bad grace, saying I had booked the wrong room, the Snug. Room was allocated by the owner however and for the price I expected a proper B&B En suite room.

I had heard great reviews of The Starfish at Cairn bay Lodge from friends and I finally got round to going on Saturday and I wasn't disappointed. Great food, lovely menu and wonderful friendly staff. I will definitely be back!

Review for Starfish restaurant /cafe: Beautiful location overlooking the bay. Note the one way system to drive there along the sea from Bangor. Great coffee prepared by a trained barista. Amazing food with fresh, local ingredients with imaginative combinations of ingredients and regular specials. Interesting interior with a retro feel and various rooms and alcoves in which to sit. The back has comfy sofas and large group table by the window. By the front entrance there is a slight alcove by the window. Well worth a trip to Bangor for this alone.

Visited for breakfast with my parents and three kids. The food was delicious and there is a great childrens menu. Relaxed atmosphere, very family friendly and the staff are helpful and friendly. Great location with beautiful views. A must visit if you are in Bangor.

Went for brunch, food, service, location, everything was faultless. Imaginative menu, local fresh produce, the special was Crab Benedict, beautiful. Lovely house, family stay here every time the visit and love that all the rooms are unique. Great views out over the bay. Will definitely be back.

I have stayed here many times but not worked in Ireland for a while but on my return! Place is kept to the same exacting standards and a warm welcome.

Outstanding, peaceful and ovrrall excellent! A warm welcome which only got better over our short stay. Great breakfasts from a wide selection of continental and cooked set us up for the day. Room was superb as described and the views to the bay were a bonus. So glad to have met john, joy, bonnie and clyde! Would definitely urge folks to try this place.
