I stayed two nights at this hotel in July. The room was ok but the window closure was broken (misses two screws out of four) so you can go back in from the outside!
The meals taken were plentiful and varied. The big problem is the restaurant staff: rude, arrogant and not smiling.
Result: I advise against attending this establishment.
For the manager, it's time to clean up your team!

Nice hotel friendly helpful staff highly recommend it. Restaurant is good too nice set of options food as always well cooked and presented.

Average food, slow service, rooms are noisy and old, beds are on wheels, not much around locally, big 24 super market nearby, not a lot of additional facilities and services, solid free internet.

Beautiful hotel, wide bed with wide ceiling. Beautiful lobby as well as a good whisky offer. The Dalmore 12 years was delicious, one more day longer and the bottle would have been empty. Buffet dinner very good.

Rooms are spotless, most of the staff are lovely.

The hotel is good, the food is very good, the service a disaster. In the rooms the noisy wooden floor is adventurous.

Pretty old. Area is not desirable.

I was very disappointed. With this hotel I ask for a shower only and was told when I arrive it would cost me another £20 per room as I was staying 1night I decided. Not to do it I ask what happens. For the disabled. And was told it was a lower bath how does wheelchair. Managed. To get into a lower bath this is the first Mercure hotel I had bothered. With and I used. Them all the time will not be back to this one.

Was only in briefly for a funeral tea but the staff were friendly, helpful and well dressed. Hotel looks nice from what I saw and the food provided was excellent.

Absolutely wonderful stay, gorgeous cosy hotel, room was very comfortable and absolutely spotless, excellent housekeeping. Bar was fab and the food was top class at dinner. Pool was lovely and warm sauna and steam room perfect, towels huge and soft. Breakfast was fantastic, serve yourself which is good cos no wait. Five minute walk to the shops Was here for my husband's 40th and the deal was excellent value for money. Planning on returning with our kids very soon Great staff too, cannot recommend this enough. Going home very happy! Thank you!

Classic and away from the city center, in terms of services and rooms correct.

A night of horror. And you don't have customer service if there's a wedding. The client. It adapts to the needs of the hotel. And he needs urgent reform. Seedy.

Room was a bit dated and cold. Very clean and comfy though. Towels were changed everyday of my stay, which was nice but unnecessary, not very environmentally friendly. Nice gesture folding the toilet paper everyday!

Clean and country-typical furnished rooms. Comfortable bed. The bathroom also without recognizable defects. Breakfast buffet extension capable, a bit of British/Scottish might be. Despite being in Scotland, no haggis, no Bloodpudding, O. Etc. Luggage must be carried up to a maximum of one floor. No lift. Large car park right in front of the hotel. About 5 minutes walk is a large supermarket/shopping centre. The location is very good.

Friendly Hotel with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The hotel itself is small, the rooms are correct as well as the equipment.

Nice but basic hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable but indeed of a refurb. The staff are nice and the restaurant serves great food, the red Thai curry was amazing!

A very nice hotel with some great and friendly staff. A nice place to stay whether passing through or spending a bit longer in the area. The hotel is in need of some refurbishment but overall it’s a pleasant atmosphere and good layout. Plenty of outdoor space nearby and a spacious restaurant/bar area to relax in. There’s a massive shopping center 10 minutes away, with pretty much every shop under the sun. The Livingston Designer Outlet is just on the opposite side too so again easy access after a walk.

Open and well lit hotel with friendly, welcoming staff. Bar prices are reasonable. Pool is a little small but overall a very nice place.

We held our Annual Golf Trophy Presentation dinner and dance here. The attention we received on the build up was really quite good, tailoring to our setup needs as requested. Although the meal choice was very limited for a party it was of excellent quality. The only downside and negative feedback we received from our members was the bar prices, they were really quite expensive compared to other venues in the area.

The hotel very clean, warm, modern, comfortable beds. Fire alarm went off Fire engines came, No roll call done before entering back into the building. Meals good, however for the number of people problems with tea and coffee machine, needed to keep a check on topping it up more. Not enough seating in bar area for number of people, drinks expensive. Sunday breakfast ran out of mushrooms altogether, people had to wait for bread for toast. Staff all in all helpful and pleasant, two young members of staff still training which made it difficult for experienced staff.

No major issues, just a little tired. Good staff and really nice breakfast.

Excellent staff and location. 20 mins out of central Edinburgh. Rooms need a bit of updating but very comfortable and clean.

Excellent rooms, great food either from a set menu (£22) or a large carte. Accessible to Livingston and not far from Edinburgh.

Yes ate well and rooms well soundproof.

The rooms are very nice and reasonable for the price range. However, the food at the restaurant is mostly sub-par, with some meals being completely tasteless. It would be wise to find somewhere else to east of a night. The breakfast was a much bigger improvement, and the price should be included in the price of the room as well, which is an extra bonus. The Swimming pool & gym are very small and usually quite quiet, especially of a morning. Overall, a decent hotel at a decent price.

The location was quite far our from Edinburgh but it had a shopping centre right next door which was useful. The room was nice but a little bit dated. You could open the window all the way which was nice because I got far too hot however if you have kids this might be a safety issue.

Fairly decent hotel. Staff are friendly and rooms are clean if a little dated. Food is good however perhaps lacking in variety. Location is next to a large asda which is handy but generally is a little out of the way — seems to be first port of call for people working in the area.

Conference rooms are large, comfortable and well attended to. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Perfectly reasonable hotel. Nothing special. My only complaint was having the furthest room away from reception. Also, no plugs next to the bed which is just inconvenient.

Comfortable and clean. Great location, perfect for shopping. Restaurant is a little overpriced to be honest. Wi-Fi was an acceptable speed.

Tired, unloved, functional and in need of a kick of paint! It isn't bad but it could be so much better with a bit of investment.

The Livingston Mecure a has a new Wi-Fi setup, which did not accept registrations during my stay. Frustrating when you are there on business. Apart from that, everything else was good.

Ok hotel but food is pretty good.

Old building in the middle of nowhere. If you desperately need a hotel in Livingston then I guess your options are limited. It's a room, a bed and a shower. Don't expect much else.

Acceptable bed. The floor creaked more than a church door for some reason however and my attempt to use gym was like homers odesy! I walked all the way down stairs to find gym and a member of staff sent me on a wild goose chase until I asked someone else. I then found the gym but the door was locked, ok I find staff again they tell me I need to use door pass so I walk all the way back to room and get my room door pass. I walk all the way back and try pass it won't work. I ask girl on front desk and she tells me I need a different pass! I swap my pass for a secret pass then eventually get in the door. At this point im tired from walking up and down stairs but give it a go. Ceiling is dirty and water stained. Floor dirty. Skirting boards broken and damaged. Gym is humid as its linked to pool so its like working out in a jungle.

Decent hotel. Some of the gym equipment doesn't work properly though and one week later it still isn't fixed.

I was fortunate enough to visit Livingston again last month and have to say its probably become my favourite Livingston Hotel.
