Absolutely not recommended. Arrived to no champagne and chocolates in our room which was booked months in advance. Then was turned away from restaurant as it was fully booked. We had not been informed to book in advance. After complaining, an additional table was placed in the corner of the restaurant and we were told that we must finish our food within 1hr 15. Ordered drinks in restaurant which didn't arrive, so had to complain after we finished our starters. Then wrong drinks arrived. Never known such poor service in our lives. Totally upset 😡

Just home from a afternoon tea with my family and it was terrible! Food was a disgrace and the service was even worse. Definitely not worth the travel or money.

The hotel itself is amazing, couldn't really fault anything! The food in the bar above the pool didn't really match the rest of the hotel, BUT the cocktail bar more than made up for this! George in the cocktail bar is simply amazing! His customer service, attention to detail and absolute passion for his job just make spending time in this bar a pure delight! The way he took time to speak to each and every guest brilliant, whilst running an unbelievably busy bar, he gave each and every customer 100% A+ treatment, whilst serving top class cocktails and perfectly poured pints! Recognition for going above and beyond is definitely required! The spa is clean, tidy and the rooms them same. Looking forward to coming back 👍👌

One of the most difficult hotels to navigate I've ever experienced in my 20+ yrs of international travel! Total disregard for customer care and convenience from the very point of arriva.

We stayed here this weekend and the hotel itself is absolutely stunning. The only fault I would say is the evening meal was very poor. The starter was salmon that was enough for one bite, the chicken for the main was quite dry and the only saving grace was the brownie dessert. I was still starving after 3 courses. The staff also seem to be very young and when we asked for a double vodka… we got 2 singles, asked for a small wine and was given a large. Had a great sleep and everything else was great. Maybe just book dinner elsewhere 🙄

The Dalmahoy was a great place to stay, the rooms are beautiful, staff are friendly and I would highly recommend it.

We were in for Christmas afternoon tea on the 28th December. Very disappointed with the service and the quality. We had to ask for tea and Coffee also clean plates and knives, the sandwiches were dry and inferior the cake selection very poor looked like they had been purchased from a discount supermarket and unfortunately the scones were dry and heavy. This was a long awaited get together and a special day out for all. I was so upset for my cousin who organized and paid for the day. First time visiting and definitely the last.

Only just arrived staff are very pleasant and hotel is what we wanted a chilled couple of days so defo recommended 😃👍 also received a free upgrade to a luxury king for wife’s birthday so well happy 😃😜

Just home from yet another overnight and we weren’t disappointed, food was great and staff are so friendly. The weather topped it off nicely especially sipping on a cocktail taking in the views! We make this a yearly get away with friends and we are all looking forward to booking up again for next year! Highly recommend to everyone!

The reservations team were totally unhelpful and just worked to a script when plans were disrupted due to Covid19. They clearly are happy to take your cash and do nothing for it. Very poor customer service. Utter disgrace!

Unfortunately most items on the menu included a supplement.
Enjoyed the fillet Steak… the real Star was the breakfast tho.

It is a little way out of town so be prepared to travel a bit to go sightseeing or meals unless you want to eat at the hotel which has 2 restaurants with great meals.

Hotel was good. The staff are friendly. But waiting 30 mins after seated to get asked for drinks and starter.
the food was nice but for size of plate there was not much.
then the cocktail bar. My god stood for 30 mins waiting to be served. Then a girl comes from other side and she can't pull a pint, so the guy stops our order to go and do hers so a 40 to 50 min wait? come on.?

The buffet was amazing! We stayed in the old part of the house and had the most amazing views of the golf course and we could even see the castle in the far distance! The property is totally breathtaking in every way! My husband wanted to only play a 9 round of golf because he was by himself and they would not allow that. That was so disappointing for him, going all the way to Scotland and could not even play golf! I would recommending renting a car, we took the bus everywhere, which is fine, we just walked a lot!

My favorite hotel, it's looking like a castle. Rooms are very cozy. It's not far from the airport and city as well. Great breakfast in the great dining room. You gonna feel the spirit of past ages.

It's a grand entry to what I thought woukd be a high end hotel. When in Edinburgh there is only one hotel that has the wow factor and high end service and thats The Grand Sheraton. However it was fully booked. It's a bit rough round the edges with the reception planters over grown and the gardens needing a good overall as the floodlights are either rusty or smashed and in some cases not even there. Reception is small and it's at first entry to this grand old building y…ou realise it's a museum. The decor is seriously dated and has that nursing home look. However the staff were super friendly and efficient. Quickly dealt with and allocated a room. For £190 per night room only I was gutted at the rooms. Small and quite honestly so out of touch. The TV was an impressive for a room however Mini bar was empty. Room decor was again as mentioned seriously dated and nursing home spec. Bathrooms again seriously old fashioned however the water was hot and pressures good. But for £190 I felt ripped off as a premiere inn at £80 Is modern and tastefully decorated. The leisure club and gym were ok and I mean bannantynes standard. Steam room wasn't working. Sauna was good and pool were good. But at this price compared to the grand Sheraton it's like comparing a Ford fiesta to a Bentley. There is no wow factor. Certainly does not warrant that price tag. We decided to dine out with the hotel as the restaurants again did not have that wow factor.

Wonderful service from all the staff. We stayed for a week during the Fringe. Unfortunately the hotel is looking very tired. We stayed here about 10 years ago with our children and it was brilliant. Good Base for golfers.

My family had started meeting for afternoon tea every couple of months. The first time we went to the Dalmahoy we very much enjoyed it, apart from we had requested a vegan option which we were told would not be an issue and when we turned up were told that they could not provide a vegan alternative, and something would have to be ordered from the menu. This was slightly annoying but the day turned out to be a success so we rebooked for the next time. When we turned up the ha…d no record of our booking. We were asked to sit and wait whilst they got a table ready for us, we waited 40 minutes and at no point did staff approach us to offer us a drink or check anything was ok. Eventually we were shown to a table in a dark corner of the restaurant and left with no service again, eventually we got the attention of one of the members of staff and were told we would have to wait another 20minutes. At this point we were left with no option but to walk out. The staff were standing around and made no effort to correct anything. On our way out we spoke with the general manager who could not be more apologetic and issued us with a voucher to come back and dine for nothing. My aunt is celebrating a big birthday this week and we thought it would be a great to try the Dalmahoy again on Saturday for the occasion. The day started well, we handed out voucher and were served our tea, and food with no issues.

Based on authentic historic castle, the hotel has been extended in a labyrinth of new buildings to offer a large capacity for groups. If you are golfing, the place is a must. For the others good gym and nice indoor pool to relax on rainy days. 30’ away from city center (cab or bus). Food is good, bar with wide choice of whiskies and various meeting rooms.

Very nice hotel and country club with good restaurants. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Large golf course on property as well. As a bonus it is located in an 18th century mansion, which looks very interesting.

The experience has been wonderful. Truly enjoyable. The cocktail bar got a little crowded so we took our drinks to our suite to enjoy in peace. The fish and chips had several bones in it so it took more care to eat than normal. As for the room, the only (very minor) complaint would be that the TV remote did not seem to respond well to button presses.

Great place to stay. Good size twin rooms. Lots to do whilst there, pool, golf, walks, beauty treatments and not too far a drive to Edinburgh. Would love to go there again.

Was put up here after our flight was cancelled. The grounds were beautiful. We ate two meals at the Brasserie — the food wasn't very good and the person who appeared to be the supervisor was quite rude.

We stayed in an upgraded suite, it was an unusually hot weekend but no air conditioning and a very loud noise that sounded like we were in an apartment next to a train station was less than expected from a very very expensive hotel. Breakfast was okay both days fairly bland and the omlette station was never actually open. The staff was very friendly and accommodating which is the only reason it is getting 3 stars.

Staying in the traditional suite. Plush bed and very large bathroom. Extremely comfortable. We came during a hot spell and there's not air con which is the downside but also out of the norm. Also, our suite has a large rumbling noise the kicks in. Almost like the furnace or something underneath the room. We had the offer to change but it didn't bother us enough. 5 stars and we'll definitely visit again.

Visited for a staff conference and lunch. Very nice venue and looked after well by the team. Buffet lunch was excellent and I would now go back as a customer myself.

Nice grounds. Golf course did not look to be in prime condition but it has only just become spring. Lots of stairs up and then down again to get to our room. If you have heavy luggage or a pram then make sure you ask for assistance with your bags. Room was a twin room (2 double beds) and very clean and comfortable. Good heating. Reasonable mattress but a bit soft and a little bit lumpy for my personal preference. Good size ensuite with a shower over the bath that was perfect for the kids. Big TV with reasonable selection of free view channels. Breakfast was included in our room. There was a long wait to be seated and breakfast had to be extended until 12pm to accommodate the guests in the moderate size restaurant. The buffet breakfast was excellent however, and worth the wait. We ate our evening meal in the Brasserie but the service was very slow, again there was many people waiting in a queue for a table but we were lucky to be seated straight away as we arrived early. The waiter forgot our drinks order altogether and then had to be reminded 3 times before they eventually arrived in the middle of the main course! Although the food in the Brasserie was okay, it was certainly over priced for what you got and I would recommend trying instead one of the many other restaurants a few minutes drive away for better value for money. The gym and swimming pool was excellent with high quality changing facilities and free towels provided.

Very tired and decor from the late 90s staff are friendly, very good at preparing corporate events, but far to quick to take away refreshments. They give an impression of 5 star, maybe it was 20 years ago, but I would expect something allot more for the cost.

Everything was perfect! The reception, the room was available at 1pm for my arrival. Large room with bathroom. Perfect. A stay booked for my daughter's birthday. 2 glasses of champagne and cocktails offered in the bar by the fireside for the occasion and small ovens with written Happy Birthday for dessert. The hotel is classy and family with golf. Large swimming pool, hot tub, hammam, sauna and spa. Very attentive and very nice staff. Ten minutes from the airport by taxi. I recommend.

We stayed for two nights this week. Beautiful location and close to the main city yet outside from the city. Car park, gym and swimming all part and parcel of the duration of stay without hidden charges. Lovely restaurants too. Enjoyed the breakfast. Hannah and Nassim were wonderful and so was everyone else. Thanks.

Just stayed at the Dalmahoy for a mini break and had a lovely time. All staff are friendly and polite. Rooms clean and spacious and lots to do, we walked the nature trail although not long its a lovely touch for those who have their children with them. Cocktail bar was my favourite and had a lovely relaxed environment. My only recommendation would be is to ask those who have booked in for afternoon tea if they have any allergies or dislikes as we didn't get a menu to show us what was included so I had to ask and the waitress wasn't sure either of the fillings on the sandwiches so had to just tell the kitchen I couldn't eat fish which they accommodated. Will definitely return with our son.

Lovely hotel. Was there for a party night. Very nice starter and main but lousy dessert. Staff were lovely but overstretched it seemed. I heard one comment two didn't show for the breakfast service and they were very stressed. Very expensive for drinks but to be expected. Wouldn't hesitate to return on a non party night event.

We had our wedding here on 18th November 2017 and had possibly the best day ever. From start to finish the staff at The Dalmahoy did everything possible to ensure our day ran smoothly. Emma, Caroline and Shona along with their team are a huge credit to The Dalmahoy and we want to thank them for everything they have done for us. Can't wait to visit again soon. Mr & Mrs Nichol x.

The rooms in the house are very nice. As a guest you've got access to a lot of different leisure facilities. If you like traditional Scottish food the restaurant has some good options. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's certainly not walking distance to the town centre, take that as a plus or minus point depending on what your wanting.

Had a fantastic time here for my birthday celebration with friends. The room was fantastic, we stayed in the turret suit which was huge, the seating area was so comfy and the beds were so comfy and a great size. The hotel is like a maze however I can not fault it. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were huge, far too much to eat. We decided to have a spa day, the full body massage was great and definitely was just what I needed. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were so helpful and went out there way to ensure that we were enjoying our stay. The grounds to the hotel was fantastic and it was great to sit in the bar and watch people play golf.

The two golf courses are on the other hand excellent quality with very difficult greens on which the ball does not pitch absolutely.

Attended for a wedding. Main building looks impressive but most rooms located in more modern extension. Rooms were nice enough though a firmer pillow would be good and some complimentary bottled water would be appreciated. Useful facilities such as shoe buffer and the Corby trouser press are quite handy. Can't comment on bar prices as most drinks were part of the package but food was good — nice cut of meat and generally tasty. Function room was pretty standard — for my taste a room with windows is nice on a summer's day. Breakfast was pretty good — cooked buffet (little lukewarm), fruit salad, waffles, yoghurt, cereal, toast, etc. Staff all fairly friendly. No real complaints. Might go back if in the area or a golfing enthusiast.

It was an expensive Holiday inn with a pretty face. The guest service was rude and unhelpful. If you play golf it might be enjoyable to you because the greens were very beautiful along with the outside of the castle. The inside was cheap and tacky though the beds were so bad I wanted to sleep in the car. The room that was advertised to us was not what we got. It didn't have a. C. But they do let you have a very poor table fan. For the price I couldn't recommend it to anyone just looking for a hotel. The Grand in London was a way better hotel with better staff for for about the same price. By far the worst part of my two week European trip.

Quiet Location, not far from the centre of Edinburgh (easily accessible by bus which stops outside the hotel). Luxurious atmosphere also thanks to the Golf club, room with two beds to a square and a half, ultra modern TV with Internet access. Great dinner in the informal brasserie of the hotel, friendly and professional staff.

Good hotel with good food. The pool is not Olympic, and a tad dirty, but the Steam Room and the fantastic cleanliness of the changing rooms makes up for that. The staff were a bit stand-offish, but polite. Overall a nice stay.

After trying many city centre hotels I decided to give the Dalmahoy a go. I'll definitely be back! The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff very friendly. There's no aircon but the room had fans and windows which opened. The breakfast was great, plenty of food and all very good quality. It's a short trip out of the city (£15 in a taxi) but worth it for the peace and tranquility.

The hotel is about a £23 taxi ride from Edinburgh Waverley, and £20 from the airport. So a little isolated and very nice area. The property is pretty open for guests, you can swim, golf, use the club facilities at you're leisure. The rooms are nice, and simple. The service is perfect and the staff helpful with whatever you need.

This luxurious hotel offers its guests spacious and well-equipped rooms. The furniture is very snug, the bedding is comfortable. Cleanliness is impeccable, as is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
The restaurant offers a small card but the dishes are succulent.
A golf course is located on the grounds, notice to the amateurs ^^

This hotel is a beautiful site and has great potential. It is unfortunately on its way down. Service is mediocre. Some carpets in public areas are getting worn. High traffic areas are needing repainting. Access from lobby to rooms is a maze. My understanding is that Marriott is dropping this property. My rec: go somewhere else, there are plenty to choose from in the area.

Very elegant conversion of an old House. The hotel is situated adjacent to a Golf Course. It lacks proper signage and can be confusing to get to the rooms. Also, the windows could do with getting upgraded to being Double Glazed.

Wifi was terribly expensive, got lost on many occasions, was rudely woken up by the VERY loud window washing crew around 9-10am, and the toilet was disconnected when we arrived and we had to fix it ourselves. Not worth the money paid to stay here.

Used the gym and swimming pool. Best sauna I know of, very relaxing.

Pleasant surroundings, friendly efficient staff but it's a crazy warren of corridors and passages. Wifi is very spotty while mobile coverage is poor pretty much everywhere except outside. Staff are very willing to help though.

We have been for lunch on a number of occasions at the Zest club room and are normally fairly satisfied with the food and service, however on this occasion we were extremely disappointed at the quality and presentation of the so called club sandwich. The sandwich came with, amongst other disappointing fillings, overcooked, hard, disgusting fatty bacon which we can only believe was heated up in a microwave from the mornings leftovers. I called on the Manager and presented him with the sandwich stating our surprise and disappointment at the obvious lack of care an attention, this meal was not fit as pig food and should have never found its way on to a plate. I demanded that this be refunded, which it was with an apology, however in my position I would have also not charged for the coffees and offered a voucher assuring our return, suffice to say we wont be back.

Good place to stay and play golf.

I am a businessman who has stayed in a number of hotels in many different countries and it really saddens me to have to write this review about this hotel. I want to start by saying the hotel staff were lovely friendly and easy to get along with but I must say that not much can be said for the leisure side as I got talking to who I can only presume was some sort of boss or manager as he had an office he was very rude and quite disrespectful as I mentioned the following things to him. I could tell the pool was not busy as there was a layer of scum on top of the water which indicated that the pumps must not be working correctly but was assured that it had undergone maintenance recently and everything was fine. As I went to hang my towel up I noticed that the hooks for it were corroded I then noticed that the tiles on the floor were uneven despite being told it had recently been done up and the pillars that support the place have a horrible yellow stain on them that look like they get painted each week to cover it up. I would also avoid the sauna and steam room looks like it could do with a good deep clean. I am really disappointed with the level of how clean the pool was and the level of building quality on pool side other than that the pool was wet and good enough to swim in.

Was wrongly charged £404 to my debit card. Phoned the Hotel reception on numerous occasions to explain the problem and was told "I need to contact my Supervisor let me call you back". Nobody called me back at first, had to keep chasing,. Eventually got to speak to a Supervisor who told me my money would be refunded the next day as I had explained I have been left with £30 in my account (this was 6 days from when I realised the money had been taken out). 4 days later I see that the money STILL hasn't been refunded to my account. Once again I call back and explained the issue once again, I was then told the payment would take 10 working days to go in to my account, I pleaded asking if there was any other way such as an emergency payment but they wouldn't budge. This Hotel left me with £30 in my bank account for 3 weeks. I had to borrow money from family and friends because of their error. Absolutely disgusted. AVOID if you like your money to be safe.

Beautiful facility. Very much enjoyed our stay. Of note, we left an Ipad and some jewelry in a drawer and the staff found them and returned them to us. Wow. Highly recommend. Thank you.

The staff were great. Food was fantastic. Facilities eg swimming pool gym top class. Will certainly be back.
