Great option for The Fringe. Reasonably priced but near the airport so can be noisy. Friendly staff.

We stayed 9 nights as a family this year in our own tent. Really enjoyed the vibe in the teepee — great entertainers every night, and good food also. Rarely a queue for the showers, which were hot and clean. Staff were amazing, especially dealing with the rain — lovely friendly team.

Very lovely place first time here glamping in bell tent, the silence and peacefullness is amazing. They ninja team couldnt help enough everyone so helpfull and friendly. Will definitely be back.

So. I don't do camping. At all. I haven't been since I was 11. But when my eldest said for her birthday she wanted to go camping in Scotland, inside I was dying. So after an extentive search we came across this camp site. The main thing that stood out to us was we could hire a tent, yes it's a little bit more money. But the separate bedrooms and the blow up mattresses were worth every penny. When we got there we were slightly (2 hours) early. And although they were so apolo…getic that we couldn't check in early they said we could go to their on site bar, but also gave us bus times on how to get into Edinburgh centre. What actual life savers. We ended up spending 5 hours down there before trekking back and it was as easy as their leaflet said! The facilities were amazing. Inside the tipi/bar it had board games — my children now actually love playing games, hot drinks, cold drinks and food. Everything is so reasonably priced and sooooo nice. The food is amazing. The staff were incredible. Always so friendly and helpful and it seemed like nothing you asked/said was too much for them. They were absolutely brilliant. The girls now want to come here next year. And we're seriously considering it! One thing that I was a but ahhhh about is the fact the airport is in very close proximity. However. Even though I'm the lightest sleeper ever. I didn't get woken up at all by the planes.

Greeted by a friendly welcome, given a free beer and really helpful staff ensuring you get the most out of the fringe.
Clean site with hot showers. Bus stop into Edinburgh 3 minutes walk away and the night bus stops about 20 minutes walk away so you can stay out late and soak up the atmosphere.
I’d definitely recommend.

This is a perfect base for the festival and fringe. Very clean facilities, loads of convenient options for camping. Staff are friendly and helpful. The tipi tent is lovely. The only downside is the Proximity to the airport with lots of take offs and landings.

I love this campsite! It's a big campsite with clean showers and toilets. There is a tent where you can eat breakfast, get coffee, tee, toasties, panini and sometimes in the evening fresh baked pizza! Its also the fringe venue 403 so there is always music in tbe evenings or a comedian or something, always a lovely atmosphere! The stuff is super friendly and I even got a welcome beer ;) There is a Bus and a tram which brings you in about 30min in the city centre. I would always choose to come here I like it a lot, many young people, families about any age groups :) You can bring you own tent or you can book a tent which is already popped up!

First time at this venue, really enjoyed it, toilets and showers lovely and clean, it all felt very safe, staff extremely attentive just one thing I would say is that don't put four young lads next to two middle aged women lol. (we decided to move in the end they were doing nothing wrong we just thought it was going to be noisy after having no one next door for five days). Great food (though not on every night), the atmostphere in the tee pee was great, relaxed and friendly. Will definately stay there again when my daughter performs in The Fringe!

This place is cheap, has clean showers and toilets. An awesome bar in the Nomad tent that is also a fringe venue The bar serves sandwiches, bags of chips and cheap prices on beer, liquor and wine. The bar also doubles as a practice facility for performers and the campers also do kareoke here! The volunteer staff are wonderful. A lot of the campers are performers and crew, then there's people from all over Europe. O and there's a kitchen tent with pots and pans also. It's really quite brilliant, I totally recommend this place for camping during the fringe. There's a convenient bus stop a short walk away and it's close to the airport. Well right next to it… The planes take off from 5am to midnight. But I sleep through it. Cheers and enjoy the festivals!

An excellent campsite with great facilities. Hot showers and decent toilets. A large campsite with friendly staff and a venue in itself during the Fringe. Be aware you will be camping parallel with the airport so expect noise! Ear plugs and you’ll be happy. Top marks.

It is what it is. Pretty basic facilities, but with reasonbly good public transport links into the city centre. Probably the cheapest way to stay in the local area for the Edinburgh Fringe festival though. The site is situated pretty much at the bottom of Runway 24 for Edinburgh Airport. To be fair, while there are a lot of flights during the day, there were only a few at night and they didn't keep us awake at all. I'd be happy to stay there again, but I think we'll try another site next time we go to the Festival for comparison.

The two stars are one for the nice flat roomy pitch and the other for the friendly staff. There are only unisex toilets which normally ok for me but not on a campsite where it also means washing oneself. The showers are male/female byt only 3 showers in each block. They are Portakabin ones without drains so the floor is soaking wet. It's a 30 minute bus ride and the buses are few and unreliable after 6pm. It's bang next to the airport. There is no campsite shop for essentials like milk or bread so you have to waste hours organising that given the sketchy bus services. There is no cafe apart from basic breakfast so if you dont eat in town and havent done the shopping you will be hungry. I expected better.

Great weekend, well maintained festival site looking forward to next year already.

I am hoping to be in Edinburgh again this year. I will be staying at the same place I went to after leaving this place. They had room as did others in mid August. Have a good look around there are many places to stay. The fringe is a fantastic event don't allow poor accomodation to spoil it for you. Take my word for it. Your on line response shows a level of unprofessional on line behaviour. This matches the standard on site. For a customer service department to actually enter in to,,, " on line mud slinging " Says it all. There is nothing else to say about it AVOID AVOID AVOID. Awful place run idiots who haven't a clue what they are doing. No hot water for 3 days filthy showers and toilets. Site is angle deep in mud moterhome toilet waste removal next to dish washing facility, filthy sinks no plugs. Campers resorting to to using sinks in toilets to wash up. Appling Booked for 14 nights had items stolen and told I had lost my pitch while off site. Demanded a refund for remaing nights they tried to decive me out of £75. I will be looking into taking action against ninja camping for a truly awful experience. Keep you eyes on judge rinder! Roomer has it adele my be making an appearance.

Great campsite and facilities. Fun friendly and helpful staff. Good access to the city, and even has its own evening venue! Coming again for my third year in 2018.

A great value way to see the festival. Pricey for a campsite but I guess this is the Edinburgh festival. We've stayed here in our camper the past couple of years. It does the job. There is an official fringe venue / bar on the campsite but you'll probably spend most of your time in Edinburgh. Toilet facilities are good but more showers would be an improvement. Good / cheap bus links to the city.

Excellent way to visit the festival. It was a bit pricey, but what isn't in Edinburgh during the fringe? For two of us, however, it was not much more than many other camp sites. The facilities were good — nice showers and on site coffee and breakfast facilities. The washing up facilities left a little bit to be desired — the water wasn't hot enough and probably not enough sinks. However, a nice site, good ground, plenty of space and easy to get to and from the fringe — the buses run into the small hours. I expect to use it again next year.

Great relaxed site with good amenities. Tipi to hang out in and get food and drink good additions too. I'd have liked to know in advance it had planes taking off right beside it from 6am to midnight. And a lot of road noise. Ear plugs essential. Not enough showers… 5 for whole site.

Very far from the city centre with a longer walk than advertised from the tram and night bus stops (around half an hour). The campsite itself isn't very flat, but nice enough and you can find side for your tent easily (camping spaces are not allocated). The showers do not have a private changing area, just a shared bench and coat hooks outside the wet individual shower cubicles. The showers did have soap in them which could be handy if you are caught short though. It is close to the airport and so can be very noisy in the day. Staff were friendly and gave us free beer on arrival, and if you are traveling into town to often find other campers headed in with you.

We had a great time here. Camping was the only way we could afford to stay as a family during festival month. We brought our own tent & the camping area was nice. We got a good, flat pitch but there were some areas of the field that were quite boggy. The facilities were ok if you're used to camping like we are; definitely better than music festival camping, hot showers & hot water for washing up, but could have been cleaner. The Fringe venue tipi tent at the campsite is fab & a real highlight for us; a brilliant multicultural vibe & friendly staff. Getting to-from the city centre was fine & the info on the campsite website re: transport links is spot on. The campsite is right next to the airport runway so bring earplugs. Oh, and they greeted us with a free beer on arrival, which got a big thumbs up from us. Overall, we'd recommend it.

Great campsite with good facilities — clean toilets and hot showers! Breakfast options are basic but very reasonable and there is also the chance to charge your phone in the cafe tent. It's very close to Edinburgh airport which might disturb some people up but we slept right through planes taking off! It's about a 10 minute walk to the nearest bus stop and maybe 20 minutes walk to a tram stop so the transport links aren't too bad. Would stay here again.

We stayed in a bell tent for a weekend during the fringe. The bell tent itself was lovely and it was really nice to have fairy lights, air beds and duvets to relax with after a long day at the fringe! The breakfast was also great as was the perk of helping ourselves to tea and coffee whenever we wanted. The site is a little way into the fringe but we found the buses really easy to use during our stay! I think the main issue with the site was not having the facilities that were advertised to glampers such as a pampering pod or shop — neither existed! Also, lack of signage meant it took us ages to find the campsite from the airport. But when we did call for directions the staff were really helpful and we had a great welcome from the security guy when we arrived, despite it being early hours of the morning! They were also all really helpful with advice and pumping up our air beds in the evening when they had deflated. I would recommend the site for a cheap and cheerful stay whilst visiting the fringe!

Friendly and accommodating staff. Good pitch locations, nice affordable breakfast options. By end of the weekend though, some of the toilets weren't being stocked up properly. Also, expect noise from airplanes from (very) nearby airport. This doesn't continue very late though.

A good and cheap place to stay during the festival. Plenty of space for pitching. Good amenities including showers, nice toilets, a space for cooking and a late night teepee area for chatting and charging! Good and friendly volunteers too. Negatives include a lengthy drive into the city (about twenty minutes) and airport noise (planes late and night and early in the morning! ).

There are 2 taps and 4 sinks for the whole campsite! = queues. There is 1 tap to fill water containers. This tap is above the toilet waste dump and shared by campers washing out their cassette toilets. Yuk. Friendly, helpful staff. Pretty and well kept site with great atmosphere. Plus you get to watch the airliners take off from the adjacent airport. Only a 20 min brisk walk to the superb tram into Edinburgh. 25 min tram ride to Princes Street.

We stayed here as a family last weekend; with our own tent. Yes — there was rain. Yes — there was some mud. Yes — it is seems a temporary site set up for the Festival. Yes — it is a bus ride into town (£8.20 family return) and a bit confusing to find the bus stop initially. Yes — it is very near the airport runway (my kids loved it). Yes — it was quite tough to find the site initially, as Truck Fest was on, and the access road through the Events Ground was closed. However, we all took it for what it is, and had a great time.
The on-site tipi bar was a lovely way to spend the evening. All our family had free tarot readings by Phil, and had a lovely chat with him. We found staff to be friendly.
The showers not de-luxe, but warm and sufficient.
There are lots of pre-set tents, on mostly flat ground. We brought our own tent, and imagine that finding a flat pitch could be tough if really busy, although we did find a good flat, not soggy pitch.
Having to unload and park the car off site is a slight pain, if you've planned to "camp out of the vehicle", but not insurmountable with some planning.
All in all, a great weekend. It made the Festival affordable for us. We would not hesitate to come again next year. Well done all at Festival Camping.

Thanks to all the staff at Edinburgh Festival Camping! I've just returned from a lovely 2 week stay to enjoy the Fringe Festival. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. I booked last year and then changed my booking to a pre-pitched tent the week before I arrived and nothing was too much trouble. If you had any queries there was always someone around to help. I would recommend this site and definitely return in the future. I was a little bit worried as I came to the festival alone, but needn't have worried as everyone was very friendly onsite. And yes the hot showers are amazing! Also well done to the talented Cuddington Youth drama group on their fantastic performance of Fiddler on the roof! Cheers! Louise ;-)

I was part of a group of 4 staying at the campsite for 3 1/2 weeks, for the entire period of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe ("Operation Perfect Teaset" was our show) and Camping Ninja was brilliant! We were very lucky weather-wise, (not much rain), and they really looked after us during our stay, starting with our welcome beers on arrival, ending with a free bacon sandwich before we left (they were using the last of the bacon anyway, I think, but we were very pleased)! As none of us were regular campers, our tent putting-up skills were interesting. We knew we'd put them up incorrectly, but we thought 'that'd do' and a few days into our stay we came back to the campsite to Kind David (he was very kind) saying "you'll be the death of me", revealing that the tents were collapsing under heavy winds, so they'd put the tents up as they should be (ie with the correct poles in the correct places), as well as hammering down our wind break etc. As performers, we also had loads of opportunity to perform/rehearse any material we wanted in the marquee (we did two shows in the end) and the whole place had such a friendly atmosphere, we ended up much preferring performing there than in our own venue in the city centre. We started calling it 'home', as it was for almost a month, and felt like we were all part of one big family. For instance, you feel like you can happily wander around the entire time in your dressing gown and no one will bat an eyelid.

These guys are just brilliant. Friendliest of welcomes, amazing staff, great loos (clean) and lovely hot showers, free ice block freezing and phone charging, and a monster breakfast (including bacon roll) for £3.50. Bit of a bus ride into town and the airport is… well, nearby, but that really didn't bother us. Quiet site full of nice people, plenty of room for our 4-man tent and no extra charge for our gazebo. I just can't rate Camping Ninja highly enough — in this rip-off age they're refreshingly non-exploitative. And did I mention how friendly they are?! Oh, and a free beer on arrival!

This was a great facility. Last year it was impossible to get a place to stay at a price you could afford. The facilities were excellent and the people, both Ninja staff and the campers were really friendly and helpful.

The Edinburgh Festival Camping site lies directly inbetween the A8 dual carriageway, Edinburgh Airport and Ratho train station. The roar of the traffic is perpetual, interrupted every five minutes by the sound of a passenger aircraft taking off directly overhead. Occasionally a train pulls into Ratho. There is no respite from vehicle noise. The most invasive earplugs prove useless. The site itself is scenic and the staff friendly if disorganised. A chilled-out vibe lends the site a comfortable, communal air. People chat in the queue for coffee and bacon rolls, or at the increasingly invaluable phone-charging stations. Facilities are well maintained and the site is tidy. Connections to the city centre are difficult. While the site is a twenty minute bus ride away, buses are infrequent, the timetables unreliable. A typical journey may take 45 minutes to an hour. Were Edinburgh Festival Camping located more peacefully, it would have been a minor idyll on the fringes of Edinburgh. As it is the non-stop machine noise makes it unbearable. We fled our tent a night early, sleep-starved to a city hotel, disappointed at the place itself, the staff's unapologetic response as we left, and whatever decision established the site there.

Fantastic… absolutely loved the campsite and the people. Camping Ninja crew really friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble AND you got a beer or soft drink on arrival. Breakfast great, ace portions and a decent price too. Site clean and tidy. Showers hot etc. Etc. Etc. Basically everything you want from a campsite… and more — being an official Edinburgh Fringe venue. Cannot rate these guys highly enough, would definitely go back to Camping Ninja again and recommend them to everyone … GO NINJA!
