Incredible place with amazing flow.

Great breakfast meal. Very good value and the food came quickly. Service with a smile.

Alright I suppose. Seen better, seen worse. Maybe it was the company that dragged it down.

Very tradionally styled New Town bar. Decent range of craft ales and lagers on tap and in bottle. Good range of malts but the spirit speciality is gins.

Got a tip about this place from the hotel guy. Inexpensive filling breakfast. Pretty good selection for a small shop. Mostly take away. One 4 seat table. Breakfast deal with coffee for under £4. Great for the price! Long list of sandwiches if you're not looking for breakfast. Very casual.

Good prices and the food is also good. Breakfast rolls are amazing, but the baked potatos at lunch time can be hit or miss. Sometimes a bit too hard.

Arriving during daylight hours at Haymarket Station, I was pleased to realise that the Thistle Hotel is just a short 5-10 minute walks distance away. The entrance to the hotel is quaintly lovely. A large early 19th Century original Georgian townhouse, this hotel has many original Antique Georgian features which set it well above other hotels of this rating. I was greeted by a very polite and helpful young man, Reece, who gave me all the relevant information I needed regarding full Wi-Fi internet access (in bedroom also), continental breakfast times (and quality freshly prepared full Scottish breakfast on request), with bar times and courtesy Christmas mulled wine and mince pie invitation to suit my needs. I was directed to the first floor (ideal due to my limited mobility as there are no lifts in this property). My room was the stunning Manor Suite, which has a beautiful large antique grand window bay with an original large Georgian library desk with leather chair — a perfect room facility for those who are bringing laptop work or study along with them. The room has a traditional high Georgian period-style ceiling with a lovely new-modern chic chandelier as well as a selection of subtle standard lamps around the room. The grand-mirrored fireplace with floral decorations is particularly lovely to view from the large sofa and casual seating area (with gorgeous soft blanket provided for extra warmth whilst relaxing watching television).

Stayed for 3 nights in July 09, room clean and comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful. Not far to walk from Hay market rail station or into the city center, would certainly stay again.

A soup a baguette a piece of fruit and a packet of crisps for £3.20. You can't beat that. Plus there is the added value of the daily stare at the blonde server's impressive cleavage during the summer months.

The staff and owners were very helpful and friendly. The hotel and rooms were neat and comfortable, however, do not be deceived. Cleanliness was not a strong point. The bathrooms could do with a good scrub. The breakfast dishes and utensils were rinsed under a running tap, wiped off with a paper towel and placed back on the tables for the next guest. The location was great, very quiet but close to everything you need. All in all, it was a pleasant stay.
