Excellent staff and price more than acceptable. Obviously it is not a 5 star hotel or remotely, it is rather pension type, but the location, transportation that you offer and the views and proximity to the beach and Cramond make it an excellent place to all.

The view is stunning, but the rooms are less then basic, not clean and the furniture quivered at the touch. There where smells of sick and bleach in my room and it was warmer outside then inside though the heating was running on high. In the end I did not stay the night.

Unfortunately I had to stay this place for the last-night and totally disappointed by receptions behave. I am definitely going to report this place to the British Hospitality Association as well as Trading Standards. I strongly advise to do same action for the people having horrible experiences with in this place. Accommodation on the outskirts of Edinburgh, good sea views and nice walk from the hotel. Improved in cleanliness.

The employees are very nice and it is on the seashore but it is far from the city centre so you need to take the bus.

Good value for money, if it is the first time you come to Scotland no biased matches.

Not a luxurious place, however it was the cheapest accommodation available on the day. It was way cheaper than anything and for just a night, we couldn't complain. Staff are wonderful, as for the rooms you do get what you should expect for the low price.

Well. If you book a budget hotel you can't expect 6 star luxury. We found the staff extremely helpful and anything we asked for we were furnished with. I am disabled and use an electric wheelchair to get about, which the reception staff were only to pleased to charge every day for me. They even came to the car to get it out for me. The room was basic but clean and the bed very comfortable. There was tea and coffee facilities. The water was very hot and shower was great. I would recommend this hotel and we will be back.

Really nice front of house ladies. Very accommodating. Rooms not great but okay for a tradesman. Shower was poor. Bath taps unusable. Beautiful views though.

The location is OK to spend a night and take advantage for a walk and take pictures as it is just a few steps from the sea. Away from the center. Old facilities but very clean.

The Almond Lodge is clean and has a good situation by the sea however, it is obviously being run on a shoestring. The bar is locked and permanently closed Wi-Fi is just in the lobby and the rooms are very bare and the bathroom has low water pressure. I stayed for 2 nights and my towels weren't folded up after the first night. Breakfast is 8-10 and there is no booking an early pick up; I wasn't too upset because it is less than inspiring but functional and continental only. I would have liked to have been offered a cooked breakfast but sadly this was not on offer This hotel is hostel standard and if you are happy to accept somewhere that is functional and clean go for it.

To make night. The area is quiet but far from downtown Edinburgh.

Rooms are bare, walls could do with a new lick of paint, marks everywhere and dried drips of something on the bathroom wall. About half the lights worked in the room, the others were dead. The shower is just to small, think of trying to shower with as much water as you get out of the hose. The whole place could do with a clean. Don't be fooled by the images on Google.

Our stay here was not restful at all. There is absolutely no soundproofing, so you can hear anyone who's walking down the hallway, exactly what they're saying, as well as their door opening. The floors are very squeaky so if there's anyone above you it sounds like they're stomping around when the really probably walking rather lightly. We could hear the woman in the room next to us coughing all night. And people coming in from the pubs until two or three am. This, combined with the god awful lights they have on the outside of the building — which shine right through the curtains — make for a terrible night's sleep. Then there are the beds. You can feel every spring in them, there's almost no padding. Also, the description says there is Wi-Fi, but it goes on and out and only works on the common area on the first floor. We did not sleep well here, but it has to be said that the receptionists are wonderful.

Let's say that you want a beautiful view of the Scottish ocean, with very friendly and helpful staff who will bend over backwards to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This is the place for you. Now let's say that you want a quiet room with floors that do not creek, consistent water temperature, Wi-Fi that works in your room, and the option to not have a super bright light leaking in to your room from outside. You may want to try another place. All in all. The Almond house is beautiful, and it is worth a look, it just wasn't comfortable enough for me.

Hotel near the airport and in a beautiful setting.
Recommended if you have car as the distance to Edinburgh is a bit large. It has free parking and large.
The rooms need to be updated, the old and dusty bedside tables and poor lighting especially in the bathroom.
Wi-Fi only in the hall, the rooms did not arrive. Continental breakfast very simple but just (no hot dishes).
I spent three nights and only cleaned the room one day.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The best for me, the environment.

Only suitable for overnight stay, not for a holiday, not very large rooms, rather small beds, and little soundproof. The positive thing that is close to the airport.

The beach just behind it was an amazing get away spot. Wonderful scenery! Large whole shells can be found when the tide is low.

Awful smelly place. Room ok, alarm woke us up at 1.30am for no reason, creaking floor every time some one upstairs breathed it kept me awake, water shore view turned out to be a roof top with vodka bottles and syringes laying right out side our window. Told staff at desk not happy, just shrugged and said oh well sorry.

Cheap accommodation with a sufficiently Central location for visits of Edinburgh. Nice staff, but pretty run-down rooms and poor cleanliness. But only to sleep and for a couple of nights in order.

This place needs a lot of improvement so it could be described as basic! Wifi isn't available in the rooms. Heating wasn't working and they told me that they can't do anything until the morning, staff at the breakfast don't speak English at all, they don't have full English breakfast, only continental, the left was out of service, and the cherry of the cake was when I came back in the night, three families where shouting in the reception cause their bookings were lost and they couldn't fit them in. The location is nice though, near the seaside and very calm area. If you insist on going there take a shampoo with you as they don't provide such luxury. Suitable for people who like to have exotic experiences, no need to go to underdeveloped countries, you can experience it here at the heart of Scotland all that for £76.

Good things first. Staff is friendly and helpful. Curtains don't really help, Sun shines in and will wake you up at 5am. Door of room 201 is not closing properly, damages are visible. The take-off route of the aircrafts is exactely over the hotel. You will hear every single airplane departing from the airport. Gipsies with lots of barking dogs have set up their mobile homes just in front of the hotel at the shore. Worst hotel experience in m'y lifetime.

Way too far from everything, unless you have a car, or rent a car. So if you cannot have one, just forget it. Lots of parking space, and as you will have some money left from your budget, specially if you stay more nights, also the car rental is around 100-150 per week, while the other ways of transport is also not very cheap. The rooms are bigger then the more expensive budget hotels do, and you have your own bathroom not like in a same prize hostels. The workers just started to fit new stuff in the hotel so slowly slowly they improve on everything, hopefully in the same prize. We have spent 21 days here and not as a holiday, but sill if you like to walk or jogging near to the nature is the best place for it. There is the Cramond Island and the River Almond I can highly recommend for a walk. This hotel is cheap, so you should except that you receive what you pay for. The beds are not very comfy, but the cleanliness is fair, specially if you give some tips for the cleaners. We have had only one key for our room and sometimes was not working, but the staff was always helpful. You have coffee, tea in your room. It would be nice to have some biscuit as well, but you can buy some hot/cold drink and some snack from the vending machine. We did not have a breakfast, because you can have a proper for a few more quid in the city. All in all it was a good stay with mixture feelings, but if you have low budget this hotel is the best option for you.

For the price it's brilliant. Clean, great view of the river/sea. Good parking facilities. Wi-Fi isn't great, can't get it in the rooms, and the advertised bar isn't open due to a lack of staff.

I rate this place a negative 3 stars. There was blood all over the bathroom and the shower was ripped off the wall. There was a frog in the sink along with no hot water. They didn't even serve almonds.

This total rip-off bunch of incompetent immigrants that run this hell hole. Full of drunks looking for a cheap s**t hole to do what they like in They put my family in the room 200 above the main door and front desk. From 10pm till 10am we heard everything go on. Slamming doors. Drunk people right outside my door. Domestics. Shouting. … there are nooo carpet so just foot steps are very very noisy. I went to the front desk and asked for a change of room for my family they said they where full and they can't do anything So we where awake all nite. No sleep for us and my son is six. The next morning we talked to the manager who said we could have a choice of 3 rooms slid me the card keys and said there not nice rooms but there quite go and have a look I was gob smacked. She dropped him in it. There where other rooms after all. Why would he not move us? I asked for my money back. Gooood god! They would not give me my money back for the nite we had just spent only the over nite we paid for upfront They said they did a refund. Then get this they took more money off my card. So by now for this total piss take of a nite they now have £225 of my money And trying to get any sense out of them because they can't speak good English. And they pass the book and say it's the other manager u need to speak to But he's not answering because it's Saturday. WHAT!

It's a little ways outside of the city (about £13 taxi to the city). Book a shuttle to city center instead & it's £3 per person. Good place. Big rooms & quiet location. Free Wi-Fi is only in the lobby, not in the rooms. Not a deal breaker, but wish I had known beforehand. Breakfast is a little expensive. I skipped out on it & just ate in the city everyday. There was no water pressure in the shower & the temperature of the water fluctuates like crazy. Not a fun way to start the day. Not a horrible thing, just a little annoying. For the price, it's a nice place. Next time I would probably pick somewhere else just because the commute to & from the city was exhausting.
