We were the last week of July. Very spacious and clean rooms. The staff very attentive, only speak English but have patience to understand each other. Breakfast from 7:30 in the morning, there is the fault because all the excursions start between 7:20 I 7:40 and we lost all the breakfasts except one day we were served pastas that could not be cut with the knife of how dry they were. I recommend taking without breakfast. There's a Starbucks relatively close.

Nice hotel, close to the city centre, but still in a quiet road. It was interesting to see that four adjacent homes were used to create the hotel. Our room was large and comfortable. Staff was nice. Breakfast was good.

The rooms are spacious, the bathroom is big with both a shower and a bathtub. The room we had a big walking closet. The staff of the hotel is very nice. Very close to downtown so it is very convenient to walk everywhere. However, there is no A/C in the room, and there is no free parking and the car park of the hotel appears to be full most of the time I asked.

Took the overnight room for families. Large, spacious rooms, comfortably furnished. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, good value breakfast — and only a ten minutes walk from where we wanted to be in Edinburgh.

The superspacious rooms. We have been in a room with five beds, three singles and one of marriage. The spacious bathroom with a fantastic bathtub. It has a small breakfast service that saves your life if you arrive late or leave very early. However the carpet cleaning, curtains, cushions. Let it be desired. Close to downtown and quiet. In Spain it would be a three star. By the way, not worth the breakfast: expensive and very scarce.

Good location, very kind and gentle service, ready to help you for whatever you need. The problems are if you are taller than 1.75 m, because the blankets, not only the bed, are too short and they are all of the same size and the sink is very little and low. The breakfast is a buffet and it's very tasty, plenty of different dishes (try out the brioches and the salmon). The hotel is quiet.

It is a nice clean, characteristic hotel in the city center. Location is great, walking distance every important points. But I am disappointed at some points, our room was really cold. We have stayed 2 nights and woke up stiff each morning. Room heating wasn't enough at all in such a city. Outside is already very cold and couldn't feel comfy and warm in the room at all. Old building so no double glazed, but no any isolation or etc. When window is closed you feel all cold weather and wind outside from inside! Also 1st night heating was off night time. Management is not professional at all, when I called for extra duvet they said don't have more and heating was enough. They brought one but gone against me on the phone. Be aware; we have booked breakfast included but its only buffet breakfast (despite no information on website) if you want you need to pay extra for the hot one.

Good location in Edinburgh! 5 minute walk away from great restaurants, a 10 minute walk from Waverly or the Playhouse. 20 minute walk to the Old Town (uphill). We stayed for two nights and got a lovely welcome from friendly and helpful staff. The 24-hour reception meant we could access any extras or advice if needed at any time. We had a lower ground floor room which didn't allow for a great view, but for the booking price and our plans to go out and explore the city, it was fine. We would love to stay again as it was a nice quiet boutique hotel where we hardly knew there were any other guests but ourselves staying.

We're here. Super Nice… The location is perfect near all tran. Bus. And shops and bars. The room was comfortable. Clean.

Helpful and professional staff. Comfortable, clean, warm rooms. The staff carried my sister's heavy suitcase up and down the stairs. The hotel Wi-Fi is slow and intermittent. The room desks are not matched with the chairs so that there is insufficient room for one's thighs to fit under the desk when sitting. The staff thoughtfully allowed me to use the tables and chairs in the otherwise unused bar so I could type on my portable computer. Thank you!

My partner and I are not long back from this hotel. On arrival we were greeted by a very nice & professional girl working at reception. She couldn't help us enough. When we got to the room we couldn't believe how beautiful it was. It was a very big en-suite. The bathroom had heated flooring, the bath was huge and it was very clean. The bed was also large and was extremely comfortable. Nicest room we have ever checked into. The hotel also had a great automosphere and was very homely, this made it so easy to relax. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Don't book anything else, this is the place to go! We will definitely will be returning.

Hotel that kept an old fashioned. Maybe 4 stars is a somewhat high rating, but it was definitely a time. The bathroom is recently invoice and the rooms come clean every day. The walls are not too soundproof, so every now and then you hear a little bit of the piano noises above. For the remainder anyway satisfied with the housing.

It will be because we were in a room in the floors "below ground" but the Wi-Fi went the first 60 minutes of the holiday then enough. For the rest great spaces, clean, classic décor.

We booked this hotel in order to be near to The Edinburgh Playhouse, which is a five min walk from hotel. Impressed by ease of check in. Room lovely, very boutique like decor. Clean and comfortable bed with extra lounge chairs and sofa. No view, however, only stayed for one night so happy with room given. Parking is outside hotel and we were lucky to grab a space. Would defo recommend this hotel.

Large rooms. Comfortable beds. Free Wi-Fi. Some of the taps and pipes are old with banging noises, otherwise everything else is fine Close to the bus station and 5-10 minute walk to the main strip, yet quiet and just outside the main strip.

A one night stay at this hotel. Very nice, with some luxury touches. Well positioned for access to central Edinburgh. Parking may be a problem however.

We chose this hotel after reading recommendations. We weren't disappointed, but not thrilled either. We stayed for three nights and it was an OK place to get some rest between all the shopping and sightseeing. We got a big room with a nice bathroom. It was a little bit cold and you could hear noises from all over the hotel. It had an easy access from the main bus station, only a 10 minute walk. Very close to everything, and that was a big plus.

Great location. Big rooms with nice decor. Continental breakfast consisted of more variety and choices than expected. Limited parking but possible for £12/day.

Ballantrae Albany Hotel — Kudos to your excellent staffs and efficient service. My wife and I stayed here on 2-3 September 2014. After we left for London the following day. I realized that I left my hand phone in the room. I called the hotel reception. They checked with housekeeping and arrange for my phone to be couriered to me in London within 48 hours. Thank you so much — it's the staffs politeness and efficiency in handling things that speaks volume of the hotel and made our stay so pleasant. God Bless. All of you.

Nice. But strange to sleep right next to the front door. A bar/restaurant that is completely empty of everything. Including staff.

I recently had the misfortune to stay at this place (July 2012). Noisy, dirty, shabby expensive and unhelpful staff. If you like trying to sleep with endless traffic noise and enjoy places with threadbare worn carpets, chipped and peeling paintwork, stains on the soft furnishings, damp patches in the celing then you'll love this place. It's everything a hotel shouldn't be and does not merit 4 stars by a long way. Probably one of the worst hotels I have ever had the misfortune to stay at in Europe.
