Lovely friendly welcome, and they couldn't do enough for us. Great hotel and the food we had was really tasty.

Cannot recommend this place high enough. Friendly helpful staff, nice choice of food and the quality of the food. Mmmmm tasty, well presented, good portion size and very good value for money. If I am in the area again I will definitely be going back.

Great atmosphere and fantastic staff at the lion, good selection of drinks and plenty going on throughout the year. Had a great time at Gingo Bingo and will be coming again!

Reasonably priced but no beer garden, friendly landlord and clean rooms.

One beer off, Swan Ale. American IPA recommended. Peanuts were expensive and 6 months out of date — needed extra beer to get rid of taste. Good telly, ok atmosphere.

We're frequent travellers staying in Welsh hotels for an overnighter every three weeks. Our experiences are usually positive but on this occasion we made a bad choice. The beautiful front door masks the awful experience which lies behind … a rabbit warren of bland corridors, the large poorly fitted suite we had and miserable staff. (Mind you if I worked in this place I would indeed be miserable too. ) On booking by phone I specifically asked the owner if the restaurant would be open for dinner and he said yes it is but shortly after arrival the bar man told us the owner had asked him to inform us that he had decided not to serve dinner that evening. Some hotel! A huge amount of capital has been invested in parts of this hotel but it seems to have been mis spent. Look at the photos I've included of the wardrobe… a series of coat hangers! An extension lead connects to the bedside lamp. Just how bland and uncomfortable is the seating area in the photo. Breakfast was a penny pinching affair… I was served, on a large plate, one slice of bacon and one sausage with one slice of toast. Wish I had taken a photo of this beauty. In other hotels if for example you opt not to have baked beans they add an extra egg or slice of bacon or tomato but not so at The Lion. Tables were not set either and there were no side plates. Eating toast and marmalade on a greasy plate was a new experience.

Massive bed 7 foot wide great room. Friendly service — loads of great restaurants in town.

Way above average hotel. Great clean rooms recently upgraded. Good choice of breakfasts starting from 0730 so ideal for walkers wanting an early start. Pleasant helpful staff. Great location.
