Terrible customer service. Myself and friend went for spa day and did have a lovely time, however I was asked to remove my gold necklace for full body massage. I placed in robe pocket. Upon leaving I placed used tobe and towels in towel dump. Upon arriving home 40mins later I realised I had left necklace in robe. I called spa straight away asked staff to retrieve it for me and I would collect it same evening or next day. I was advised the spa was now closed as it was after 6pm (i called 6.11pm) and the message would be passed on and someone would call me back the next morn. I waited all morning no call came so I called myself only to find out the message had not been passed on and that the laundry had left the building and also that they had never had any luck retrieving lost property from the laundry firm! I was advised they would check with staff and someone would call me back. I am still waiting for a return call and have called back several times to be told everytime someone will get back to me no call has ever came. Shocking customer service, my issue could have been so easily resolved had staff member retrieved my necklace when I 1st called. Disgusted doesnt even cover it. Will never return nor recommend. Defo not 4 star customer service here.

Just home from a fab overnight here with my sister, we had a spa package and it was amazing from start to finish. All the staff are so friendly and accomodating. Our spa treatments were amazing and the spa facilities were brilliant. Beautiful place with beautiful decor. We had afternoon tea and dinner at night and both were delicious. Can't fault the place. Will be returning for sure. Thanks again.

Can totally recommend going for a massage and facial treatment, the ladies are very professional and take excellent care of you to ensure that you've had a great experience. The pool, hydro pool, sauna rooms are all great extra facilities. Afternoon Tea was delicious.

The best part of my stay last night was the lovely staff, Angela from the spa in my opinion is an asset to your hotel! She was friendly, helpful & very kind! The meal we had in the plumpy duck restaurant was brilliant! Really enjoyed it! I did however find the beds very uncomfortable as were the pillows! Not a great sleep unfortunately 😞

So we had our special vow renewal yesterday. What a fantastic service we received. Not a complaint, from the planning with kirsten and elisha to our 2 night stay … it was amazing… the full event was 100% perfect. Bar staff were very professional and also very fun, getting involved in the singing and dancing with my guests at the bar they were all raving about them. The reception staff were so welcoming and patient, even with the very noisy children that attended. Food was second to none… I had very fussy guests who all raved about the food. Thank you guys again xx.

We attended a wedding at the Bowfield this weekend. Great gym and swimming pool. Kids soft play area for the little people. Food was AMAZING. All the staff were lovely, and special thank you to Diane for taking such good care of us. All in all, a wonderful long weekend, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We attended a wedding here yesterday, stunning venue, so romantic, great food & drink, friendly service, beautiful spacious rooms, excellent breakfast this morning, could not fault it, well done Bowfield, highly recommend.

100% recommend this hotel & Spa! I came today with friends and there was 6 of us and everyone of us loved it! the facilities at the hotel are fantastic and so clean! the spa was absolutely fantastic and linda was an amazing host and so attentive, nothing was a bother at all! I had a full body aromatherapy massage with Eva today and she was so nice! made me feel at ease and very informative about the treatment too! you could tell she hands down enjoyed her job so much as it shone in her massage skills! 1st I've had this treatment and I would get again! the relaxation rooms, hot tubs, pool, saunas, steam room and treatment rooms are so modern and very nice and relaxing! we upgraded our lunch from afternoon tea to a 2 course and the restaurant was lovely, food was so nice and very big portions, only downside I would say if the restaurant seemed a little slower but this could be as a wedding was on and staff doing that too! all in all I know we will be back again! thanks so much to everyone of the staff for the best relaxing experience!

I have just visited the Aura Spa today with my 3 friends, mum and sister. Aura spa is hands down beautiful. From the stunning scenery to 5 star staff service. Everything was so clean and very Modern you get a real luxurious feel from the whole place. I had a 55 minute aromatherapy massage by Laura who was absolutely fabulous one of the best massages I had ever had. Our whole group agree’d their treatments also were wonderful the service and venue was completely outstanding we had a fabulous day our only disappointment was that we had to come home! Linda from the spa was so attentive and made our day feel extra special. We had lunch in the restaurant and the food was so delicious and the portion sizes were so filling, everything was cooked perfect. Everyone was so friendly and I will most definitely be returning again for an overnight stay and a spa trip next time and recommending to my other family and friends. Thank you so much for a wonderful day.

This is my second visit and I cannot fault the place. The decor is lovely, rooms have been upgraded and are really modern with a spacious bed. Afternoon tea and dinner is delicious and a nice wee bar area to relax afterwards. However my main reason for this review is my massage I had with Cynthia! The massage I received from Cynthia was the best I’ve ever had, she completely tailored it to me and focused on the areas I told her I was having pain (which my knee pain has now gone) she is also the loviest woman you will ever meet and has such a beautiful aura. She really is a massive asset to your company and I will request her every time come from now on. The only down side was it seemed like the facilities had been overbooked as the pool, sauna etc were packed. Couldn’t get even a seat by the pool and had to go back hours later and check again, also never got in the hydrotherapy pool as it was full every time we checked also. Other than that it was perfect and will definitely be coming back even for the massage alone!

I booked a spa package for my mum and I as an early Mother's Day treat and I honestly couldn't fault this place from making my booking until we left! 🥰 The staff were on the ball, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Linda at the Aura spa was very helpful and the therapists who done our treatments were lovely 😊 the indoor swimming pool area is just beautiful & relaxing, the changing areas are so clean and have heated flooring 👌 the hydro pool outdoors was perfect and you could even have drinks delivered outside to enjoy while you are in it! 😍 I upgraded our package which was originally an afternoon tea to the 2 course lunch with prosecco which was only an extra £5pp and absolutely worth it. Lovely food, good portions and the waiter that served us knew exactly what package we had and was expecting us at our pre-booked time with our table all ready for us. The best spa experience I have had and hope to be back soon — I would highly recommend, all this and it only cost £148 for the whole thing (that's not even a special deal! )

Inadvertently left an item in room on departure which I tried to reclaim, management refused to acknowledge and repeatedly ignored my follow up phone calls. Final response was…its my word against theirs. Restaurant service was bleak to say the least, inattentive & adult meals were served before children’s.

We popped in for a lovely family lunch today. Absolutely fantastic! Delicious food, friendly attentive staff and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend. Perfect for families or couples alike.

My friend and I had a wonderful spa day yesterday. The staff were all fantastic and made the day that little bit special, a truly wonderful experience. I have to add a huge thank you to Cynthia, who gave me the best massage I have ever experienced and was just a total joy. The entire day @ Bowfield was fabulous, from start to finish. Facilities were exactly what we were looking for and every member of staff, from the spa through to the Plumpy Duck restaurant, treated us so well. Nothing was too much trouble and I hope to visit again very soon. Thank you for making our day together so special xx.

Aura spa day was excellent. Linda on spa reception was very friendly & welcoming. I love the outdoor hydro pool even when it’s cold outside😍 Nicola & Cynthia were excellent therapists. Both of the full body massages my friend and I received from them were amazing for different reasons. So caring in their approaches to each individual. We had a fun, relaxed day finished off with afternoon tea in the restaurant. Thank you Aura staff you were fabulous, nothing was too much bother even if we were slightly troublesome x.

The Aura health Spa was luxurious and incredibly relaxing. My massage was out of this world. All the staff are very friendly and extremely professional.

We were booked for the night with an afternoon tea included and it was lovely: The scones and sandwiches were so tasty and the staff were lovely.
We had dinner and it was also beautiful. Definitely recommend the chicken fajitas if you like some spice. And my partner had the chicken burger which he said was one of the best he has ever had. Our wee girl had the Mac and Cheese and loved it. Sadly later on in the evening our little girl fell ill and we had to take her home and check out. The staff were so helpful and Barbara even phoned to find out how she was which is above and beyond what she needed to do! Can’t thank her enough.
So glad this is our wedding venue and after 2 postponed dates cannot wait to say I do in 2024!

We've visited the Bowfield a few times now as this is our wedding venue booked for March 2022 and every time we've been up the service has been impeccable. Kirsty is so lovely and has sat down and answered my million questions about our upcoming day and sat and talked through everything with me and my partner relieving all my anxiety about the upcoming day. Then our visit to the restaurant was also incredible. The food was great however the SERVICE we received from Ryan is better than I've had anywhere else! He checked in many times and our 9 month old girl absolutely adored him nothing but smiles for him. I really hope he's still around for our wedding day as he's amazing. My only complaint is there didn't appear to be any baby changing room? Or maybe I couldn't find it but I ended up changing her on the seating in the pool changing room which isn't ideal but 🤷‍♀️ 9.5/10 for the Bowfield 💖

Beautiful hotel and staff are very approachable especially Alisha who showed us around the wedding rooms etc.
Restaurant was beautiful too and looking forward to returning.

Lovely staff, great service & fabulous place. Had 2 spa treatments 25 mins each, massage & facial, both really good. Just a shame the leisure facilities were still under lockdown. Definitely return again.

Can I start by saying I don't understand the previous reviews. We have had two days away for our anniversary. Cannot fault the staff or the food. Glitches happen I have travelled the world in all manner of hotels and yes glitches happened but nothing was too much trouble and sorted easily. From the moment of check on we switched off. We will be back cannot recommend highly enough this hotel. From the manager right through to all front of house and kitchen. Thank you xx.

Had a lovely day out here yesterday for my
Birthday with use of the spa facilities and dinner. The facilities are fabulous and spotless, staff very friendly and welcoming. Dinner was absolutely gorgeous and the service impeccable — with even a “happy birthday” plate of small cakes given to me which was lovely. Have been here a few times and will continue to visit as it is always a brilliant day! Definitely one of our favourite places.

Came for a half day spa on Saturday it was great, staff were lovely and massage was great until the afternoon tea which they never had booked on the system although I had the confirmation email, they accommodated us but we waited over an hour for afternoon tea when folk who came in after us were served right away and it wasn't busy either.

Really nice place, food was OK,
asked 4 2 we'll done steaks and got 1 med and hubby's steak had blood run from it plus peppercorn sauce was really watery could have been a lot thicker
(not a fan of returning food or would have)

Such a homely, warm, hotel. Makes you feel safe and at home. Staff are amazing and all happy to be there. It's such an inviting hotel, you don't feel like your in a hotel, you feel comfortable enough to go to breakfast in your pajamas, which is a 10/10 for me. Just what you want from a hotel. An escape from reality but the comfort of home.

Amazing! So relaxing, so helpful, so friendly, can’t say enough good point about Bowfield, only down point was a VERY bad and upsetting experience at the spa.

We were welcomed on arrival by a lovely friendly receptionist called Barbara who along with the rest of the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time.

Visited the Aura Spa today and can’t fault the experience or service. Unfortunately they were a therapist down but they still catered for us to meet our needs and we had a fantastic time. Thank you to Cara at the spa for providing excellent customer service, you couldn’t have done more for us. Hollie was our therapist and delivered a relaxing facial. The afternoon tea was also delicious. My sister — in-law and I can’t wait to come back next month.

Just home from a lovely family overnight. Everything about this place is fantastic! Great if you have kids, soft play and pool are both great! We will definitely be back!

Staff couldn’t be more welcoming, so friendly. Rooms are beautiful, food is lovely and the atmosphere perfect! Even got drinks on the house as was celebrating a birthday! The spa is amazing — totally fell in love with the hydrotherapy pool and views! A little disappointed the spa facilities were closed on arrival I’d suggest attending before check in to get full use during your stay! Otherwise can not wait to come back! My new favourite place.

I decided to treat my wife for a 50 minute spa treatment. Back neck and shoulder massage including facial… she said it was great and very professional but however very adamant The massage was for 15 minutes and the facial 10 minutes at most (max). There was a lot of time wasted in-between filling out forms and talking about things that shouldn’t be included in the time advertised for the massage (50mins, correct me if I’m wrong). I questioned this and they refunded myself with £20.00 immediately and I explained I would have preferred my wife received the full experience. Food was good but When your treating your wife to something special you expect too receive what it says in the tin. If you pay for a 50 minute treatment you expect to receive 50 minutes not 25minutes.

I have stayed here several times now and each occasion has been better than the last! The hotel has had a wonderful refurbishment over the last few years. The rooms are fresh and modern and the restaurant is brand new, offering a wide selection of fare. They cater very well for vegetarians too! If I had one concern from our stays over the years is the prices of the drinks served at the bar. I feel that they are very expensive. Overall though, I have always had a great visit and look forward to my next visit.

I can’t wait to book another wee get away. The place is just amazing but it the staff were even better. From the lady on the reception, to the spa team & the bar staff. It was like they had known us for ages, so interested in us and made sure we had a fab time. We didn’t set our alarm for breakfast by mistake and they let us go through as still have a breakfast without any fuss at all. The cocktails were out this world and the food was to die for. I really can’t wait to come back! Thanks again xxx.

Thank you so much to all the staff for making my hen weekend such a wonderful event. Everyone worked so hard to make it the perfect evening. I won’t remember everyone’s names but my salt and oil scrub in the spa was lovely. Our lunch in the bar delicious. My complimentary prosecco. The room for our private dining was better than I imagined. Our own bar staff. David who ran the cocktail masterclass was amazing and kept 25 rowdy women engaged and entertained. The lovely Fraser who kept things running smoothly and even turned up our music just a tad louder when our favourite song came on. The meal was beautiful and everyone commented on it. Cannot thank you enough it was a night to remember and I couldn’t be happier. Totally recommend you start doing hen packages! Xxx.

My friend and I dropped in for a coffee and were greeted by reception as if we were dirt on her shoe! Directed to the bar… for coffee… where it was dark and dingy. They didn't have any cakes and no spare scones — a funeral had them all. We left! We won't be back.

Not one for writing reviews, but felt the need to as I absolutely love this wee hidden gem of a place!
Arrived on Sat for some dinner/drinks,
Food was delish, — Prawn and Cod Chowder a must try
Espresso Martini cocktail was made to perfection (and im pretty fussy on this one)
Whilst sitting enjoying a few drinks a gentleman named Fraser came over and introduced himself, pretty much sure he mentioned he was a director in the Bowfield, after a quick hello and light chat he then went onto collecting some glasses from tables — his work ethnic is second to none, really refreshing to see this! Team work regardless of your position in work is something you rarely see! All the staff appear happy, relaxed, and really cant help you enough
Lastly — creche for kids if your a member. Absolutely fantastic! Girls couldnt work hard enough to keep kids entertained.
Overall… excellent, and would highly reccomend!

Good all round facilities, well fitted rooms had Netflix which was a nice touch. A reasonable sized pool for swimming and good changing room and a well kitted out gym. The bar area was pleasant and welcoming. Unfortunately the food was only average at best otherwise a pleasant stay.

Spent an overnight stay there for my upcoming 60th birthday and was overall impressed with our room the facilities and the food was served by pleasant staff. Brogan was a credit to the hotel. Would highly recommend the Bowfield.

What a stunning place. Good breakfast. Comfy bed. We even made use of the swimming pool and steam room. Helpful staff very attentive. Perfect for a much needed rest.

Lovely Hotel rooms first class and pool warm and relaxing and great value for money we paid. My wife ordered peppermint tea at breakfast to be told there would be an extra charge. No yogurt or blueberries that was on the breakfast menu. We had a lovely stay and will return but found breakfast disappointing. Thank You Alan.

Spa day and afternoon tea. Staff were very helpful with my dietary requirements, however the quality of the food served was average at best. Glass of “fizz” was more akin to fizzy grape juice. Pool, sauna and steam room were uncomfortably busy. There is a gorgeous sauna in the spa but it wasn’t clear we could use that until we discovered it on our way out. We opted to pay extra for treatments (25min) however hadn’t chosen our treatment as thought this would be discussed before the treatment. Of the 25 min “treatment time “ we both probably got 10-15 minutes by the time a plethora of questions were asked. It would have been good if this was done out with the treatment time we were paying for. All in all a little disappointed!

Spa with lunch was fantastic today staff so attentive and professional, I left my bathing costume in shower room when I left the hotel I phoned tonight 11/01/18 at 6.20 through to leisure facilities the lovely receptionist took my details and found my bathing costume thank you so much for your quick reply and your help I forgot to ask your name… Thanks again xx.

When we arrived and checked in we were asked if we would like to book a table for dinner as they stop cooking at 8pm so we said a table for 4 at 6pm, when we went for dinner and ordered drinks the girl gave us menus for a fixed meal that was not what we wanted. So we asked for the other menu the same as the 1 in our room they said they couldn’t do that menu but could do us a burger. I said that we would now have to go out for food so the drink was a waste of time, spoke to the girl at check in and asked why she didn’t say about the fixed menus she appolagised I said that’s no good I payed to come to the hotel to relax not to go back out driving. When we came back at 8.30 and thought could get a drink and start to relax the bar man came over to say bar is closed at 10pm o well must be bed time. Don’t come on Bpxing day. (Think you miss the point). Check in at 3pm pool closed at 5pm no food except fixed 3 course meal and bar closed at 10pm (come to relax) thanks for your response (I know that I can do better next Boxing Day)

Family environment huge and super equipped gym, swimming pool and sauna. Rooms to improve. Returned after six months have renewed a lot, super welcome, very nice pubs, very comfortable rooms.

We were in room 16, very neat and tidy, comfortable and well presented. Spa facilities were fantastic and staff very helpful!

Lively premises friendly staff for dinner and reception. Only flaw was had to wait 20 minutes for a cocktail to be made so was not happy about that good stay though none the less.

Great facilities for families, however should provide childern with more activities. Crechè staff are absolutely fab with the kids. New restruant is lovely and bar too. Would definitely recommend.

Charge £20 per person per night at start of stay plus cost of room for using against 'pre authorisation' method (money held on your bank/credit account to guarantee payment to hotel). This additional charge is to cover any 'extras' which may be used (Lunch, dinner, drinks, etc). Recently they charged £810 in pre-authorisation (570 for room + 240 for 'extras'). All extras were paid by cash daily on each occasion. The reception staff at the end of the stay charged 570. They should have then cancelled the 810. They didn't do procedure correctly (4 attempts over 3, week period) and it still wasn't cancelled. This means 810 couldn't be use in bank account. Hotel tried to say it was the overseas bank causing the problem. The bank stated that Bowfield Hotel did not do the cancellation procedure correctly. No apology given. *Wi-Fi only available in public areas of hotel (apart from room in attic! ). *No land-line or cordless phones in rooms to be able to contact Reception etc. *No safe in room *No fridge in room *Mobile phone signal virtually negligible *Reception staff not any good at explaining per-authorisation method. TIP: Hand over cash in sealed envelope and get back what isn't used. This saves previous problem. *TIP: Ask for room cost to be charged on bank/credit card rather than pre-authorisation charge. *Dining room staff response when any food complaints "I'll let the Chef know". Egg Benedict had sauce missing.

Exceptionally good hotel chain. Constantly trying to improve. Staff are always amazing.

Don't join Spa or gym. They rope the pool off for children's swimming lessons, but nobody watches this. So if you wish to swim for exercise or relaxation you can't, as children and parents just use the entire pool. Staff don't care. Despite having family changing rooms, you get adult males (not using the facilities), using the men's changing room their female childrrn (average ages 8yrz), so adault males feel most uncomfortable. Despite questioning the management, they said nothing the could do. This is despite having a family changing rooms, for this reason. Staff and management don't seem to care. I think it's just money money money for them. Steam room if often out of order. You'd be cheaper and more comfortable in council run leisure centres. A least they keep children and adults apart. I've have big regrets about joining this place. Their £500 of vouchers are actually worthless. Can only be used there. Avoid like the plague.

I went with a friend for the spa day. Everything was fine apart from no slippers provided when clearly advertised. Water bottle in jacuzzi area was very warm and not pleasant. Our treatments were running late and also cut short by 5 minutes each. Everything else was fine and we really enjoyed the afternoon tea.

Decent venue with attentive staff. Attended for a kids party which was well serviced. Prices at bar a little over the top though, particularly soft drinks.

Good facilities, nice staff, lovely rooms. Jacuzzi tub wasn't working in our room unfortunately. Could be doing with a better layout for the restaurant / bar area which is currently a shared area, makes you feel a bit self conscious having drinks when the family at the next table are eating their starters!

Huge family environment and superequipped gym, swimming pool and sauna. Rooms to improve.

Very nice location and facilities. Staff were very helpful also. The place felt like it was miles from anywhere, even though it's not far from Glasgow Airport, which was what we were looking for. Excellent pool and health suite and lovely restaurant with the best fish and chips I've had for a while. Only issue I had was the bed was very firm, so if you don't like that he earned, and there was a green emergency light in the bedroom that lit the room up like a fairground even at night so had difficulty sleeping. Definitely recommend the place though.

Out in the country away from any distractions, making for a peaceful and relaxing area to relax in.

No shower or plunge pool near sauna or steam room to close pores after use. Quite small spa and pool. However the place was clean, staff friendly and food good.

It's an easy place to find, as long astounding know where it is. Secluded, yet friendly, with excellent amenities.

I attended for a spa day and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

A wonderful place, feels like a real members club. It's undergoing a lot of upgrades — the gym and locker rooms are now top notch. There are one or two rough edges (the rooms are a little tired), but this is a real diamond.

I loved the location. The spa, gym, bar and kids play area are all great but the rooms need some work and the staff in the restaurant were useless and very non attentive. The bar also could be better because it is not open most of the week!

My friend and I have been 3 times for lunch and spa treatments. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful, we enjoyed the use of the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool and the massage and facial were superb. We are looking forward to visiting again soon.

Very good atmosphere (feels like a country club! ) Food is excellent, staff are friendly, only complaint is that wireless internet only available in bar/restaurant area.
