I’d suggest Barcaldine Castle, for any special occasion. There are six rooms (which can be booked by one party, thus giving the whole castle). We were lucky enough, to be the only people there. We sat in the great hall, drinking wine. A bloody marvellous experience. The people looking after it, cannot do enough for you (A big thanks again), an if you like a cooked breakfast in the morning, then this is the place to have it. We’ll definitely be back.

It is absolutely beautiful here. An amazing castle, fabulous rooms and excellent hosts.

Everything was perfect, down to the last detail. Our hosts were wonderful. The afternoon tea they prepared was way beyond our expectations, and the breakfast next morning was equally superb (and how many Scottish breakfasts can you say that about? ). The icing on the cake was the unexpected pleasure of meeting the owner of the Castle. His gracious hospitality to us was so kind and he somehow made us feel right at home. Without a doubt, our short stay at Barcaldine was one of the finest experiences we have ever had in Scotland (or perhaps anywhere).

The hosts Abbie and Daniel are the most amazing beautiful caring people. From the moment we arrived as strangers we felt the love they have for their job and making our stay the best. There was nothing that was a problem and I highly recommend staying at Barcaldine Castle. We left as wonderful friends xxx.

Abbie is so sweet! She greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the castle. David the owner asked about our trip and recommended places to see on our way to Inverness. This place is awwwemazing!

We rented the whole castle with a group of friends for 4 nights for a 50th Birthday. Everyone loved it! Sipping whiskey by the fire, afternoon tea fit for a queen and a meat on the bone catered dinner for our Game of Thrones themed dinner! Abbie is an amazing host and helped us create a truly magical experience.

Amazing experience. The caretakers are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. We loved hanging out in the common rooms sipping local whiskeys. The rooms are very eloquent and extremely comfortable. Best nights sleep while traveling in scotland for 2 weeks. I only wish we spent more than one night here!

Dear Abbie! We are so pleased with our stay at the Barcaldine Castle! My mother was delighted with the piper and her room, as were the rest of us. The smalles of details such as the bed linnen and the post cards available in the rooms to the personal and heartfelt welcome and service have left a lasting impression on all of us. Where to start, myself and my husband took my granny and a friend yesterday for afternoon tea at the castle. The service from both Abbie and Daniel was amazing! Super friendly and inviting. The castle itself is stunning the atmosphere and decor are second to none it is opulent without being pretentious and the little details that have been added like the thistle on the tables and the tartan ribbons just set the place that little bit above others. The afternoon tea was beyond expectations it arrived on a towering tiered stand and was brimming with everything you could possibly think of and if you are looking for value for money you have definitely come to the right place! Everything was delicious and presented perfectly. We will certainly be back again. Thanks so much for making us feel so welcome and adding an extra inch to our waistlines.

Such an amazing place. The staff are so friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are really beautiful, we stayed in the caithness room and it was amazing. A lovely tray of complementary snacks in our room on arrival. There is fridge to store your own alcohol as they do not have a licence. The breakfast was amazing and they have lots of choice.

Charming B&B that turned out to be one of the highlights of our Scotland vacation. Built in 1609, it offers an authentic Victorian castle experience complete with hidden passage ways and tales of ghost hauntings. The furnishings are amazing and the staff is first rate. Super fun and really much more than a B&B.
