Dunvegan Castle and Gardens makes for a wonderful day out and we loved every minute of it! We did the seal trips: the guide was extremely informative and we loved seeing the seals up close. The gardens were well maintained and absolutely stunning. The castle itself was a great experience. There is plenty of information about the stately home and the history of the MacLeod clan! Overall, a great trip!

Not my favorite castle experience. This one is more modern in the interior and loses the feel of a historic castle once you step in. The outside and gardens are very cool. It's a 5 star experience to walk around the castle in the outside and visit the gardens.

Not the prettiest or the grandest castle but wow does it make up for this in other ways. Castle tour is so interesting. Gardens are really diverse and beautifully cared for. The greenhouse in the walled garden has a particularly well chosen and looked after plant collection. The boat trip to see the seals is incredible — so close up and the guide was superb — Not to be missed. Overall an excellent great value full day out.

The gardens are really beautiful and the house is wonderfully maintained for such an old piece of architecture. It's private, so NTS membership won't get you free entry of anything, but it's well worth a visit for the historic pieces within the castle and the gorgeous gardens and surroundings. Just bring your midge net! Even if there's a bit of a breeze, there are walls around some of the gardens, which stills the air just enough to let them find any humans.

The gardens and the castle are very pretty. Deserves a visit:)

Beautifull castle. Lovely views. Car park. It is a great time killer if you go round the castle and the garden. Took my dog through the gardens then went back by ourselves to view castle itself.

We were really lucky up in August 2017 the weather was fantastic. We got on a boat trip behind the castle where we found lots of seals. Place is so magical well looked after ❤

He's not the prettiest. It has some interesting things inside.

The castle of the clan of the Mac Leod the most interesting is not the castle but the gardens.

The Internet shows completely false schedules. The castle and its gardens are open only from April to mid-October.

Highly recommend visiting this place, if you're in the area. Very beautiful and quiet. Do the boat tour and see some seals. The gardens are well maintained. I'll definitely be there again.

Situated in a lovely location Dunvegan Castle is a must see if you're on holiday on Skye, the interior of the castle is lovely (no photography in the castle) and the gardens equally spectacular. Lots to see and do.

Worth a visit if you are on the street, very nice gardens to see and discreet Castle. Should close at 17.45.

Nice road leading to the castle. There is a man at the entrance who will brief you about the castle. A lot of interesting stuffs being displayed inside the castle. No photos inside the castle but you are free to take photos outside the castle.

The outer look of the castle not so special, but go inside and the ornamental nature of the place comes into full view. History, old artworks, sculpture are just a few things you will see. There is a 16th century Gaelic claymore sword that caught my eye. Outside there are 3 gardens the water garden was my favourite, it had waterfalls and streams among the flowers. I had a good day.

The impressive ancestral castle of the clan Macleod. Tickets include a visit to the inner chambers, and broken gardens around the castle. Worth a look.

Some of the best gardens we have seen. Views were great of the surrounding area. Cafe food was pretty good too although a bit pricey £7 for a panini?! Castle was really nice and decoration was really ornate however it wasn't all accessible so had to drop a star. Defo worth a visit. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Didnt manage the seal and wildlife trip but looked great!

Visiting Dunvegan Castle Gardens on 13Jun2017 after the exhilarating climb at old man of storr, we decided to drive to neist point…that takes about 1hr 15mins…so we thought to drop by dunvegan castle to vist the gardens also on 13.6.2017. entrance to the gardens was £11each for gardens only (£13 for castle & gardens). Nothing much to see for me non-botantist just consider as donating to the upkeep of the place the gardens have various themes – like water gardens, wooded gardens, round gardens, walled gardens etc. With a variety of water features, plants, flowers & trees…it was a pleasant stroll. not quite the scenery that we would look out for in isle of skye but since it was on the way to neist point, it was a good break stop as well.

Castle of great historical importance to the local, as usual, great visual impact, even if not of the most exposed. The interior is partially open to the public and tells the history of scotland from the middle ages with particular documentation on personalities from the 16th to the 19th. Magnificent gardens in the style of the English botanist, eight-of the twentieth century.

Beautiful castle on the isle of skye and is surrounded by a beautiful flower garden. The inside of the castle can be visited freely or with a guided visit and contains the relics, but not only, of the clan Mcleod, which uses even today the manor house as a residence. Nice boat tour to visit the large colony of seals living at the castle. From the outside the castle is not particularly impressive, indeed. More interesting is the interior and the garden.

Very nice castle, gorgeous furnishings & historic items & art. Gardens are extensive. Formal square layout, circle garden, water garden with waterfalls & streams, & woodland walkway. Would be a 5-star, but as with most castles with expensive art & articles, no photos are allowed inside! Café serving lunches & 2 gift shops. Plenty of parking, even for buses & caravans!

Interesting place if you enjoy clan history. The castle has a number of interesting rooms and details of the clan chiefs through the years. Try pick a dry day and take in the gardens.

Stopped off here on the way to Neist Point. The gardens are a nice little walk, and the castle is good but doesn't allow photography. The main event here was the boat trip to see the seals (an extra £7.50 per adult). The boat is tiny, and the water can be choppy. Depending on how you feel about that you'll either have a brilliant time or 25 minutes running over what you'll do in the event of a capsize. I may have been closer to the latter, but the seals really were brilliant to see. We sailed very close to the them, got some good photos, and gave my daughter her first chance to get so close to seals. "Woof woof, " she said…

The castle is well protected from public view. The photos online seem to be well planned. The castle is underwhelming. It has some good history, but is not on par with many others open to the public at a lesser price of admission. The gardens were wishing for greatness but also fall short of delivering. Save the money and time and keep driving. So many better sites to see on the Isle of Skye. Oh, and the Fairy Flag, time has not been kind and there is little left of the historical artifact.

The castle is old but renovated. Visit the castle and gardens is paid. Only works during working hours, the evening closes.

The castle is average, inside skromnov. But the gardens are good, and the 30 minute boat trip to the seals is worth it to come here!
