We stayed for 2nights. Warm welcome. When we got to our room we found toilet not working properly. We have since found that several people had reported the same problem before. The owner said he would look into it after we left. Dinner was excellent When we left we reported 2lightswere not working to be told that is not my job but Archie’s. There was a notice in the bathroom saying to put towels on the towel rail there was none There were several other small niggles eg the kettle not being able to open it to fill. Television with a line across the screen. The hotel was clean and staff generally pleasant We may have been unfortunate, but we did enjoy our stay on the island.

Amazing hotel… Alison was extremely helpful. She went way beyond in helping us with our concerns by responding to our queries on time… during our stay made it extremely comfortable and after also helped us a lot … the food was excellent… the location was the best…

Would highly recommend the chandlers hotel. The minute we walked threw the door we was greeted with open arms and made very welcomed. We are a family of 5 and We stayed in the Montgomery suite which had more than enough room for us all to stay which had a stunning sea view. I had gone out for a run early door around the island and when I got back to the hotel I was greeted by Archie and Andrew with a morning coffee and a good chat which was a lovely start to the day. When we went down for breakfast we all had different requirements and they fulfilled them to the T. Evening meals were to die for we ate 3 evening meals and we all tried something different every night (I highly recommend the chicken stuffed which haggis wrapped bacon in a creamy sauce. ) Allison was such a lovely host even tho she was so busy with the running of the hotel she still managed to take time out of her busy schedule and sit down for evening meal. We would like to thank all at the chandlers hotel for having us over the weekend we had such an amazing experience and will defiantly be coming back.

Read a few bad reviews before we went and honestly did not reflect the hotel at all room was clean and ideal staff where very helpful and chatty stunning views from the hotel we did not eat here but the food smelt amazing very helpful with places to visit will definitely be back soon.

Never seen much of the proprietor Allison checked us in gave us key and that was that! the food was delicious and Archie the chef was amazing and such a pleasant man to chat with, the views are lovely and the restaurant is first class our room was rather small and at the back of hotel do we only had a tree too view the Mackenzie room toilet took ages too fill up after one flush and think this needs to be sorted overall hotel is a bit overrated and without Archie not really welcoming at all.

Charming family run hotel nestled in a quiet bay, beautifully decorated, food great, very friendly would definitely go back. Love the island.

Just been for morning coffee and cake and I have to say it was lovely. Menu looks lovely and prices very reasonable. Will be back for lunch. View also stunning and look forward to a lovely sunny day to sit out on the veranda.

My wife and I have just spent nine delightful nights at Chandler’s Hotel on the Isle of Bute. Whilst we were there, we were astonished to read the disparaging report sent in by a couple who were there on the first two nights of our stay. It made no sense, because the adverse comments made about the place were totally untrue. The hotel is immaculately clean, the décor is tasteful, and fits exactly the style of this beautiful old building. I asked Alison, who owns the hotel with her husband Andrew, to show me the room referred to by the complainant as a boxroom. It measured at least 3M x 4M, and was nicely furnished. The ensuite was huge, well appointed, and gleaming. It was at the back of the hotel, and had no view – exactly the sort of room you might expect if you are there on a cheap Wowcher deal. Apparently she expected to be upgraded to a premium room, with a sea view, but was not prepared to pay the £20 per night premium for doing so. Perhaps this was the reason for fabricating such a damaging and unjustified review? It makes me very wary about giving credence to such reports, and does a disservice to the whole reviewing process. The complainant also commented about the food, saying that someone there had made disparaging comments about it, so they decided to eat elsewhere. We ate in the hotel for 4 nights, and were sorry that a family bereavement took Andrew, who is the chef, away for some of the time.

Stayed for one night and would definitely stay again. Absolutely beautiful rooms, beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean and the full Scottish breakfast could not have been more perfect! Lovely, friendly and very welcoming. Thank you!

Amazing place! Stayed here with 18 friends for 50th birthday. Had an absolute ball. Fantastic rooms and facilities.

We're staying here just now. Food last night at dinner was superb. Breakfast this morning was a continental affair with the option of cooked… huge choice. Staff are all lovely friendly and attentive. Room is very comfortable. Huge en suite with lovely corner bath. Set outside Rothesay with good bus service to the ferry and town.

We went for my husbands 50th this hotel was not worth the money. We could never find the staff. Water was cold so couldnt shower in the morning and could be cleaner definetly wont be back.

Wummin that runs this place is a nutter — Stay well clear. We stayed 2 nights and left totally dissapointed. Check Tripadvisor reviews shes got form.

A have been trying to call Chandlers for 12hours now no one answering? Is hotel it is Saturday the 15th of July…

Stayed for weekend with family for a 60th. Beautiful house in a beautiful location and value for money. Internally the cleaning of the accommodation could benefit from a little more attention to detail. No one really readily available to complain to. Besides this we had good weekend.

Just had a lovely stay at the Chandlers Hotel. Andrew, Allison and Achie are all so lovely and extremely helpful. The food is out of this world and you must book in for evening meal. Thank you all of you for making us feel so welcome.

Beautiful location, friendly staff. Room is nice and clean and well decorated. Lovely!

Our room was clean but very, very dated! Ensuite shower was not a power shower — more like an attachment for washing hair. This hotel was not cheap but it was grim, in need of a full refurb and a huge disappointment! Staff were v. Nice and it was clean but the price of the room was way to high for what was on offer — would rate it a generous 2 stars! Holiday makers beware and book elsewhere!

Quality room first class service well worth a visit.
