Refusing to refund I’ve been bit loads of bed bugs.
Didn’t realise it was this bad but this is the second room they gave us as the first room was even dirty then the second one they gave us ridiculous.

Beds are like sleeping on the floor and fond over people rubs all over the room.

The Talbot used to be a lovely place, now it needs a very good face lift, ladies toilets smelt, taps need to be replaced.
Poor chap behind the bar (alone) and it was very busy, I collected some classes for him.

Avoid like they have corona virus! Re heating meals, poor management, place needs shutting down!

Rooms are absolutely disgusting, wouldn't put my dog in them if I'm honest.

Stayed here on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th December with my mum and nieces me and my mum had stayed in February this year and got excellent service however this time I am disappointed cost me £250 for the two nights two rooms I was robbed So where to start Friday night stay

The bedroom curtain was hanging off the rail the bed was broken in the bathroom the shower curtain had paint all over it there was no plug for the bath and the shower was over powering to the point I had to use hand towel and bath towel on the floor there was no hot water has we must have used it trying to get the tapes to turn off During the night I was bitten on several accounts on my feet legs neck and head My mums room only issue was ripe in the carpet I even had to go down to the entrantance to ask the member of staff who had been working on the bar to keep the noise down has I had my two nieces on the first floor trying to sleep this was at 12:30pm at night Saturday night we returned to find that our rooms hadn’t been made up after a long day out at Cadbury’s world and we got back we wanted a cuppa but before we could we had to go to the Tesco to but our own has there was no member of staff on the reception They had a disco in the small bar area which was understandable for the time of year However this is where the issue started again In my mums room it was like being in a night club you couldn’t hear the TV and my 2 nieces who are 8 and 13 couldn’t get to

Just had a family party here for my daughters 18th. Staff and buffet were great.

This place is on its last legs. Temporarily amusing to find oneself staying in a hotel worthy of a 70’s sitcom, until you remember you’re paying to be there. Dreadful; never again.

Absolutely disgusting place! Woke up in the middle of the night to find ourselves covered in bed bugs! No one around to assist us so had to find somewhere else to stay. They won’t even return my calls/emails to discuss! All this with an 8 year old in tow. Dont stay here!

Having read other reviews of this hotel on Tripadvisor, I thought I was prepared for what I would find. However everything was far far worse than anticipated. My visit got off to a bad start when there was no parking in the car park. I had to double park and then keep going out the car to check to see if an available parking space had become free. This was surprisingly stressful, and a big waste of time as I didn’t feel able to go off and get on with things.
My room was dilapidated, distressed, dated and unclean. The cleaners could not have pulled any furniture away to clean behind or underneath in living memory. It was filthy in all corners. I had to keep my bathroom door shut to keep the vile smell out of the bedroom. I imagine the offensive odour was coming from the dirty shower curtain, and the damp woodwork. There was no plug for the sink and there was no soap or shampoo. When I queried this at reception, I was told that they had not had a soap delivery for a while and therefore had no supplies.
The single bed was a very old pine, slatted base, with a wafer thin mattress. The single pillow was like a slab of concrete.
Breakfast in the morning was a total disaster. The coffee urn seemed only to contain tepid water, and there were some apologetic Nescafe sachets on the side to add to it. I had arrived for breakfast at 7 am when breakfast service was scheduled to start as I needed to make a quick getaway.

Shocker hotel! Someone needs to shut this place down! Disgusting rooms, can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like if they expect their customers to sleep in this hole! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Had a leak in the bedroom and staff leave at 12 therefore we couldn’t tell anyone. Didn’t sleep for 5 hours cause of the horrendous dripping noise.

Never again this hotel. Dirty and dark room. The whole hotel has probably not been cleaned for years. The dishes in the breakfast room are also not well rinsed. Breakfast was a disaster. Had booked 2 nights but are already checked out after the first night and breakfast.

Just went for early dinner. Although they don't start taking orders until 6.15 they took ours earlier and the chief made an early appearance. Food was generally acceptable but the cream served with the deserts had turned, hence only 4 stars. Staff seemed to be doing three jobs each so service could have been quicker. But they worked hard. Hotel has loads of character so well wo worth a visit.

I am usually pretty forgiving when it comes to hotels, however, this reached a whole new level. Terrible service from staff and they didn't seem to care when I raised issues. The room had burnt extension cable which I handed back but given the staff attitude, wouldn't be surprised if they just put it back in the room after I left. Mouldy shower certain and smelt very musty in the room. Carpet was very dirty. Duvet didn't fit the bedding and was hanging out at the end with stains. Yes it's an old building but really no excuse for the room being so dirty. Got bitten really badly by bed bugs during the night too. My room included free breakfast but I really didn't want to risk eating there considering the state of the room. I would not recommend!

I have stayed at The Talbot hotel twice now, in two different rooms. The building is old as stated by others, this is perfectly acceptable but on both occasions my rooms have been in states of damage and disrepair. There are holes in the ceilings/walls and in the side of the bath tub. It could be a very nice place to stay with a LOT of work.

The Talbot is an old coaching inn with lots of original features and potential. However, the rooms are mouldy and smelly. Strange scratching noises in the roof kept my son awake and I have come away itching. Breakfast was good — lots of choice — and reception was helpful in putting me in a fresher smelling room on arrival. The Spanish waitress was lovely but there was clearly a skeleton staff in at all times. This could be a real gem with lots of care and attention.

The building could be beautiful if the owners cared. The place is filthy. Checking the bed on arrival, the sheet from the previous guest was still being used just pulled tight. When they came to change they used quilt cover. I told housekeeping and they said they had run out of sheets. The bedroom floor had not been vacuumed the decorative pillows were so dirty I didn't want them near my bed and I told housekeeping but they kept putting them back on the breakfast was plentiful but the girl didn't understand English and just walked off. The room could of been beautiful but the failed to repair it from water leak. there was a blocked drain from the kitchen area. The grease travelled down a covered area to reception and no one was doing anything about it. the bar toilets had been badly refurbished using rough wood and painted.

Reasonably priced. The building was prior to victorian age but services were great. Breakfast included, good for a night if planning Westmidland Safari.

Nice place. Yes it's old, well done reviewers lol. Staff were really helpful and nice. Due to a lock fault I was immediately moved to a bigger room facing the previous room. Managed to park at back but it is limited. (Just pass it on your left on it's one way street and turn left and left). You can though park in the main street that the hotel is on if you're sharpish in the morn before the ticket wardens emerge. Would come back anytime near. Cheap clean digs with parking and pubs and food on its own road will do me! I do laugh when reviewers say "tired". It's very old, go pay 150 and stay at the holiday inn then. I'll stay here thanks.

Good coffee at under £2 per cup pleasant staff.

Recent visit was last of many. Will never go again as it has deteoriated so much it is no longer value for money. Dirty rooms, poor service, broken bed. Broken sink in bathroom, blood covered towels. And that was the superior room! When we arrived the room hadn't been serviced so faced with unchanged bed, unwashed cups, dirty towels piled on bathroom floor. Never again.

Won't be staying here again. If it was possible. I would give this place 0 stars. Beds are ridden with bed bugs. (I have photo evidence) On reporting it to one of the hotel staff they explained no other rooms were available. The member of staff then proceeded to say that I was lying to them and that this had never happened before. Could I stay in that room tonight? I answered No. I am not staying with bed bugs. I wanted to be moved rooms. The member of staff then said no other rooms were available. I stood my ground and told them I was NOT sleeping with bed bugs. After telling them this multiple times they said let me check a room. I showed the member of staff the bed bugs and they proceeded to say thanks for the information I will call I have to call pest control. I then got moved to a different room, a room where loud music was being played below my room from another room. I rang the bar and asked for the music to be turned down as it was 10.30pm. The member of staff would say it would be sorted. At 11.15pm the music was still being played but no member of staff could be found or contacted. I could not believe that not only was the hotel staff trying to get me to return to my room to sleep in a bed ridden with bed bugs. But after complaing about noise nothing was also done about this.

Booked a triple room for an overnight stay. Its an old hotel so decor not that good but expected. Room 12. The beds were clean but were creaking and springs gone on all beds. So a bit of a sleepless night. Toilet made awful noise after flushing. I had a cold shower and couldn't turn tap of. Husband finally got it turned of but dripping so no shower for him. Breakfast was warm but mushrooms tasted lime they just came out of fridge. The lack of staff didnt help. On check out it was the waiter who took payment and wasnt bothered about the bad experiences we had. So in a nutshell "Faulty Towers" and dont stay in room 12.

Lovely meal and excellent service. Can't wait 2 go again.

Woke up at 6am to bed bugs crawling all over me. Never in my life had this or even seen one before. First time in Stourbridge, would never go back. Hotel staff where not bothered when I showed them pics of bugs on checking out. Just wanted to get out of there. Never experienced this in all the many places I’ve stayed before. Do not stay here. Or you would be scarred for life! Disgusting.

I would hate to see the state of the other rooms considering I had a superior double room. Bed and mattress was tired and had been poorly repaired. Carpet ripped. TV broken. No central heating… small electric heater too small to heat room. Bathroom — dirty and unusable. Understaffed — no manned reception when I checked in at 5:30pm and no one to contact about the issues.
One to avoid.

Where to begin. Hotel room: beds to a poor quality almost falling apart when shoke. Water and damp marks over walls and ceilings. No heating but a small electric radiator. Other colleagues say no curtains in rooms. Bathroom: perfect hot water. Water pressure is so powerful you have to old the shower head otherwise it becomes a fight to have a shower. Breakfast: waited 30 minutes before I told the waitor what I wanted as he served someone else. No manners from the staff. Water in the hot water dispenser had been sat from night before highly doubt it gets cleaned regularly. Great position for pubs etc and town centre just a rubbish hotel.

Disgusting bed bug ridden hotel! On arrival everything seemed OK, the place needed some TLC and decorating but it appeared clean. On closer inspection in the room it was only surface clean. I then went on trip advisor and found horrific reviews including bed bug complaints. Thought surely this was an exaggeration as I have stayed in many hotels and never ever experienced bed bugs. At 1am both my partner and I were itchy but put it down to paranoia from reading the said reviews. Ended up switching the light on and oh my God saw 5 bed Bugs running over the bed. Jumped up and there was blood splattered over the bottom sheet from where I had been bitten on my back, which was covered in bites. Then noticed more bugs on the wall and more appeared on the bed! Took photos, killed 4 and placed in a cup as evidence and also filmed a video of the bugs. No staff available so had to sleep on the floor. At 6.30am having had no sleep I complained to the manager who apologized and refunded the room cost. Left and on arriving at my son's my back was covered in bites and found a bed bug in my clothes in my case! I went back to the hotel to complain but was told they were aware of the problem and pest control were involved so it wasn't a problem! So knowingly this hotel is selling rooms infested with bugs. I am in contact with environmental health and am in the process of taking legal proceedings against this disgusting establishment. Stay well clear! I have posted the photos on trip advisor.

I have lived in Stourbridge all my life. The hotel is very old so you have to give way. I stayed there last night before moving out of area for good. The food was very good for the money. But the problem now is that they are buIlsington premier Inn around area with just basic rooms. I have seen many weddings there over the many years so it can't be that bad if the booking keep coming in so think on?

Nice old fashioned Hotel restaurant who are found to be very good and at a reasonable price went there with a friend and enjoy the afternoon.

Really bad experience. The staff were rude and the room had not been cleaned before check in. No toilet roll/products left just empty pizza boxes. No central heating, stains on the beds and very unhygienic bathroom, also to top it all off the TV didn't even work! 0 welcome, 0 stars.

OK for a cuppa. Nice and chilled. Was a bit chilly in there but the has burner was on. The carpet looked like a snail had been making tracks after a massive session.

Not impressed, slow service, no craft beers, not even a decent bottled beer. Food nothing to shout home about. A guest stopping the night was not impressed by either the food or his room.

Breakfast is good the rest of the hotel reminds of a "harry potter — house"…

Needs upgrading badly great location no parking great breakfast really hot & fresh & asked if I wanted more from breakfast buffet before they packed it away so good service.

I have fondish memories of the Talbot, spent my first honeymoon there in 1971, sadly on my return from living away for many years, I found the place very, very tired, Wonderful old building, wth great character, but definitely in need of some sympathetic TLC. The Portuguese staff were all very willing, but dead horse springs to mind…?

Nice place but could do with an up date very old windows that dont close properly and floors very uneven food wounderful though.

Unconftable beds, so dated and not in a good way. Not cool, bad presentation of promotional ideas. Ie dirty wedding dresses. No mattress protection etc. I can go on and on. They need help.

I like the Talbot for a quiet drink in the evening, glass of ice cold Guinness and no blasting music it's just the ticket. Heard the rooms are vgood but never tried them myself. It's clean and tidy, good staff and a vpleasant atmosphere.

As always, it is fantasting and has an amazingly awesome turkey! stuffings are unique and tasty but pretty much EVERYTHING is absolutely scrumpsious! There are also set menus and much more.

Nice staff — but language a major problem. Often instructions or messages from 'guests' were misinterpreted or responses totally tangential to what was expected. They were trying their best though. Little things like — Towels for two not served — or The tea bags and milk we're not refilled on the second day of stay — and needed to be asked. Then in the dining room being told at breakfast time that 'Sorry no more pastry as we had a busy week' and that's 5 minutes after opening time. I wish the poor souls were trained to speak basic English before being let loose on unsuspecting zero tolerant British public, some sadly retaliating rather badly too.

We held a surprise party for my mum at the Hotel in the Ballroom.
We we're happy to pay for what we felt was to be a 'premium product'. Unfortunatley, there was no heating on and our guests had to sit with their coats on all night.
There were also lights that didn't work and when I questioned this, I was told that they don't work as the fuse had gone.
There are two chandeliers in the main Ballroom. One had sacking around it and the other seemed open to the elements at the ceiling where an old birds nest and dead bird/bird feathers could be seen.
On the up-side, the food was good (as it should be for the cost). I sent an e-mail to the manager with my concerns, disappointment and embarrassment but this has remained unanswered. What a pity the management doesn't seem at all interested in the customers experience, best avoided.

Small rooms but very homely. No hot water in the morning for showers — we were told this was caused by another guest leaving their tap on all night and draining the tank. Breakfast had a nice variety and we'll cooked hot food. Brilliant location, just a minutes walk from pubs and good restaurants.

We stopped in for lunch after a bank holiday swim. Food was very good, service was excellent.

By far the worst part of moving house was dealing with these cowboys! Avoid them like the plague. Half the time they don't get back to you but more infuriating is they rarely appear to answer there phones.

Went for Christmas dinner. Food and service were both great.

I was supposed to stay here last night. I got back from an evening out with friends at midnight, to an empty reception, and my key locked away (I'd left it there to pick up later, as it is actually 2 keys attached to a huge lump of wood, totally impractical to carry around). After numerous attempts to contact someone with no avail I ended up going to a friends house and sleeping on their settee. At NO point was I told that the reception closed at 11pm, which would have been …extremely helpful when taking someone's key do you not think? When I went back at 6:30am, I sat in reception till 7am when someone finally came down, I was told it was my fault I couldn't get in, and I would be fully liable for the cost of the room. The receptionist Alvero was the rudest person I've met in a long time, completely unhelpful and unapologetic. I've just cancelled the superior room I had booked on Boxing Day for my partner and I. Yes I should have noticed when booking the room that the reception closes at 11pm, I accept that responsibility, but the total lack of compassion and any kind of apology just shows the poor ethos of the hotel staff, and poor customer service training. Aside from this, there was mold all over the bathroom and the whole place is practically falling apart. Dreadful. I urge anyone thinking of staying here to think again.

Responsive, efficient and friendly service. We used this firm on recommendation for the purchase of our house and then returned to them for help with another property purchase, following a perfect service. Highly recommended.

Loved my stay hear the charm of the hotel the politeness of the staff lovely rooms and in the middle surrounded by shopping centers its a welcome brake, the breakfast which is included in price is full englush along with a asortment of other food all in all I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Absolutely perfect. Manager went above and beyond to make our stay a lovely experience. Would recommend very highly. The building has so much character, amazing.

I was looking for a solicitor after short listing. They advertise 15 minutes free advice. Before they would even talk to me they wanted £99 up front.

Lovely place, full of character, and very quiet rooms. Loved it.

Good food excellent service.

They have ruined the experience of the old establishment. The reception area used to have a thriving coffee bar and lounge that was a social hub for the town — the main doors from the high street into the old coffee lounge now remain permanently closed. A reversal of this would fill the place with customers but judging by the attitude of the staff I'm not sure they want customers anyway! — They were extremely unwelcoming with cold personalities and the drinks were expensive. They need to make the right changes and until they do it will keep struggling along. I won't be going in again until the coffee lounge reopens and the main doors open to the people of Stourbridge once again.

We stayed there for one night a couple of months ago, after wanting to stay there since I was in my teens now at 60 plus, my hubby knowing that I had wanted to stay there, booked us in for a suprise for me we stayed in the room with a four poster bed which we found to be lovely, and would stay there again, after reading some of the reviews I, m thinking are they refering to the talbot we stayed at. The staff was mostly foriegn which I personally didn, t find a problem in most hotels we have stayed at they all seem to have foriegn staff, which I agree are hard workers and polite enough, I felt I had to write this as with all the bad reviews for those ungrateful people this lovely old hotel we have here in Stourbridge just might close, maybe this will then make this people happy maybe that is there intensions. Myself and my mother where looking for elegant dining and came across The Talbot Hotel, Having lived in the Stourbridge area for many years and moving away and moving back, I have always found it to be too posh for someone like me, but took a chance last Wednesday 12th June 2013 for their carvery evening. We arrived at the hotel, but was not seated by any staff, although waiters where present. Other diners where seated and orders taken, except I had to order at the bar and pay for my meals before eating, unlike other diners, which was a bit odd. The decor was very outdated, and doesn't match to any of their excellency reviews in the express and star. We found that the carver, didn't ask what meats we wanted we had to just guess for ourselves what the meat products where. What looked like pork was in fact turkey, we found the Yorkshire Puddings had been defrosted and not cooked, as we where eating them. They where displayed on top of serving station with no heat source underneath. The roast and buttered potatoes where cold and rock hard, All vegetables where swimming in murky water, there was no mashed potatoes, and their where Roasted Parsnips that had been been fried like chips instead of roasted, like the name states. We found the staff to be ignorant and unpleasant. After complaining we where given a refund for the food only, although we only brought drinks to go with the food.

Having stayed at the Talbot on many occasions, I simply do not recognise the way in which it is described in some reviews. True, the hotel is old: several hundred years old, and therefore there are sloping floors and wooden beams, which one may need to avoid if you are tall. But this is all lends to the character and old world charm. As far as the staff are concerned, I can truly say I have never had anything but polite, prompt and willing service. Yes many staff are foreign, but they are hard workers, work long hours and go out of their way to give good service. The reception may not be routinely staffed, but there is a phone at reception with instructions for contacting staff who will respond promptly. And as far as the food is concerned, the spread at breakfast is 2nd to few. Many guests at the Talbot to whom I've spoken have made similar remarks about the quality and choice of food. There is one thing I do agree with and that is the rooms can be cold. But again, One only has to ask and either the heating will be put on or portable heaters will be made available. All in all this is a charming Hotel. And when the advertisements say that the rooms have been lovingly restored, that is what they mean. The Hotel seems loved.

I recently used Talbots in order to purchase my new property. I was very impressed and pleased with everyone involved, I really felt I was in capable hands.
