I’ve been staying here every year for the last 20 years. Highly recommend.

Definitely recommend, overlooking the canal, 5 minute walk to shopping mall.
Hotel facilities are good, with a decent swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Book the club rooms and get entry into the club lounge for your complimentary hot/cold drinks and snacks.

Weatherspoons waterfront closed due to”maintenance “ walked 45mins for breakfast. Walked into Faradays at 11.25

Unhelpful is an understatement when trying to book a wedding package with a £10k+ budget, seems like they don’t want custom at all, rude staff and when complained about poor ineffective management response. Best Avoided if don’t want an off the shelf mediocre wedding.

Always have a fantastic Christmas Eve at this wonderful hotel. 2020 may be different I’ve booked as always but it may not happen I’m a nurse working Christmas Day and was sooo looking forward to having breki at the hotel before going into work.

Never had any issue staff always really helpful.

Great hotel for acceptable price clean, professional service, great location — 5 min walk to shopping centre, free car park, good swimming pool, jacuzzi + free tea/coffee highly recommended.

If you book online you have options to upgrade your room when you book in lovely staff very friendly nice rooms. You might not want to have room 320 as sink has not worked in there since at least Feb of this year.

Went for a Christmas party. Although the decor of the function room was very good, and the staff were friendly on arrival, the food was genuinely the worst I have ever experienced at a hotel/restaurant. A cold, below expectations carvery, with cold small potatoes, leathery parsnips, mushy stuffing balls, sprouts tasting like they were bathed in a saucepan with washing up liquid still in it, and mint sauce that was like jelly. Genuinely shocked at the very little choice. For the expensive amount I paid, I was utterly disappointed at the food. Would have probably have paid £5.50, not £35 — not even a drink included in the price. Left all my food, except the meat, and had to go to McDonald's later. Would not return or recommend for food. 1.5/10

4/5 stars. Would give 5* but we could hear a loud strange droning/banging noise which I think was from the hotel heating system. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Sorry but I have to say the worst breakfast I’ve ever had or should I say it was so bad I couldn’t eat it, Bad from start to finish, miserable staff, cold food poor quality ingredients, no hot water for tea, no juice left had to keep hunting for staff asking where’s this & where’s that,
Tried the cooked breakfast but yuk all I ate was one mouthful it was crap, Beans cold & dry, mushrooms soggy, had to wait 10mins for hash browns & 2 mins for a fried egg by which time rest of food on my plate was cold,
Go to Beefeater Kingswinford or Dudley arms they know how to do a great breakfast.

Had afternoon tea there it was really lovely, the sandwiches were very tasty and the cakes were yummy, we found the staff were very polite and made sure everything was ok which it was.

Had a fantastic meal, the boys had roast pork and they even catered for my vegetarian meal (mushroom and brie filo pastry) we have been coming here for years,, it's always calm clean and pleasant but on the 28th of july my grandmother had died the day before so the three of us decided to treat ourselves and have sunday lunch,, so we parked as usual and had a lovely day,, 3rd august today through the post I have a 100 pound parking charge! because we didn't register the car before we went in! I'm utterly devastated…

Friendly staff food looks good must cook everything fresh as wait time is 20. Ins so far don't mind as long as food is good.

Came here today for Sunday lunch/ anniversary meal. It was lovely, the food and service was great. We would like to say a massive thank you to Max who was extremely helpful and couldn’t do enough for us, he’s an asset to the team.

It was lovely inside & out. My first wedding fayre I went to will my mum (maid of honour). Got some lovely leaflet to look though. Very nice people who are very happy to talk to you.

Next to a big shopping centre. A lot of stuff you can do whilst staying at the copthorne. There is a gym with swimming facilities and sauna. Stuff are very friendly. The bar offers a selection of drinks however slightly overpriced but not surprised. Bedroom is cleaned every day, however the mattress on the bed is not so comfortable could be slight firmer. Food is nice at the bar no need to wait around for too long. Suggestion could be to have some more vegetarian options.

Stayed on 21st, one night in family room. Good location and parking. Greeted at reception with a smile, everything was explained very well, the guy was pleasant courtieous and chatty. Our room was large enough, clean and had a nice bathroom fridge and tea coffee. Didn't eat there because grandson is faddy so went over to Wetherspoons across the canal. The hotel bar, dining area had a pleasant view over the canal basin. Good choice for breakfast and everything well cooked. Would stay again if in the area.

Nice hotel a bit pricey while there is high standards I still feel its dated… facilities are great lots of option laundry service same day if sent b4 9… meeting rooms. Loved it.

Very pleasant place although it was very hot in the room window was open and fan on but still roasting. Nice comfortable clean room Breakfast was good. But cutlery was dirty, I changed mine twice!

Had booked an Afternoon Tea for 4 people. We have done this numerous times before and been more than satisfied. Usually pay 15 pounds for 2 people this price had gone up to 25 pounds for 2 making my bill 50 pounds. The quantity of food was about half compared to last year. Just one wooden rack of items not two as previously. Plus the little cakes were very un remarkable. Used to have little pots of desserts. I didnt complain as I had taken my Mother-in-law who is 87 and a dear friend who is 95 and didnt want to spoil their day but felt shortchanged on quantity and quality and staff were not as pleasant.

Afternoon Tea for Two. Lovely staff. Not much food and not that good. Shop bought cakes and scones, squirmy cream instead of clotted and a total of four tiny finger sandwiches — 2 fingers each! We are not greedy people but even we had finished the lot in 20 minutes! Much better places to go for Afternoon Tea.

Another fantastic stay at the copthorne hotel merry hill with the ever smiling Phyllis on duty on arrival. Great rooms and buffet breakfast.

Had a 2nts stay here stayed here quite a few times and loved it but this time was let down massively by the breakfast which was very poor both mornings, no eggs got fed up waiting black pudding so dry you could break teeth on it hot drinks machine not working that was first morning,
Next morning everything was cold scrambled eggs where like curdled milk no change on the black pudding, no hash browns.
How they can charge £10 a head is beyond me,
But can't fault the rooms clean and tidy hope this was just a minor blip as me and wife do stay 3 or 4 times a year.

Very nice staff very helpful food bit expensive but a nice place to stay.

Had our wedding reception here on 18 May 2018, and what a fantastic night! The room was beautiful and all the staff were helpful. We could not have asked for anything more, it was such a perfect day and evening. Just our quick thanks to claire who has helped me and my husband organise our very special day and also big thanks to joe and cameron who made sure the night ran smoothly, nothing was ever too much for these guys so thank you! We opted for the hot fork buffet and wow we are so glad we did. It smelt amazing and tasted even better plenty of food for everyone and all the food was nice and hot. We are overwhemled with how well everything went so thank you to everyone involved! We would highly recommend you guys to anyone who wants and absolutely amazing night! THANL YOU xx.

Copthorne is a lovely hotel, clean and comfortable for stay as long as you plan to stay. The receptionist and the staff are very friendly and professional. My wife and I always enjoy our stay at Copthorne, you should try it.

Very nice, comfortable, friendly staff, always there to help in case you need… The maids though it's another question… They've taken away the half empty bottles of shampoo/body wash and didn't replace them back… Happened twice in 5 nights and other little things…

Myself and my daughter came for a 3 night stay for Easter. We were so happy with everything. The room was great the pool was very nice and all staff friendley. The breakfast was fantastic, lovely fresh fruit and pastries. Only comment was orange juice was room temp so not nice. We even got an Easter egg in our room on the day we arrived. Amazing stay and will be sure to book again. Thanks for making it so good the little touches are great.

Had our wedding here 24/3/18. Absolutely amazing, Claire and Pheobe were brilliant, they couldn’t of been more helpful if they tried, excellent communication throughout 18 months of planning. Our hotel suite and rooms were perfect. Reception staff were brilliant and our master of ceremonies throughout the day gave it that extra touch and kept us to time and guided us through the day. Canapés and our buffet tasted perfect and all our guests danced the night away in a beautiful decorated room. Thank you to everyone at the Copthorne for making our wedding day a dream come true xxx.

Beautiful hotel. Staff extremly friendly. Enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend this hotel. Also security is very tight. Plenty of parking in a secure car park.

Appears to be undergoing some refurbishment. Rooms look a little dated but are functional. Book in advance and you'll get a good deal. Breakfast is good and if you're a big eater well worth the price. Worth booking a Club Room as breakfast is included along with some other benefits. Bar staff very helpful. Excellent for shopping at Merry Hills which is a 5 minute walk along the canal.

Very nice hotel, well situated next to Merry Hill shopping center. Good travel links to the local area. Quite far from nearby train stations into Birmingham, but plenty of buses. Nice big bathroom and large rooms. The breakfast had a good selection.

Very older style Hotel.

The whole family came here for the New Year Ball and I could not fault it. The atmosphere was happy and full of energy. The food was immaculate although they never asked if anyone had requirements for their food. Even though it was New Years Eve all of the staff were professional, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Attended Xmas party here. Decent night food was ok but I did expect it to be a little better. Still went down well though. DJ on the night played a good selection of music. Only real downside was the price of the drinks.

Stopped here a few times now and each time has been great. Clean rooms, friendly staff and good size rooms. Coffee and tea facilities in the room. Highly recommended.

Brilliant hotel, the rooms are stunning, the showers are refreshingly powerful, the staff are helpful, the food is to die for. Me and my partner have stayed here twice now and we can not fault it. I would recommend to anyone.

Lunch — not again. Kitchen couldn't even be bothered to warm up pitta slices (with hummus) or nachos (without melted cheese and salsa from a bottle). Soggy fish cakes. If this is how the kitchen prepares easy food, I wouldn't trust it for a main meal.

Very enjoyable afternoon tea, however, having registered car details with hotel reception, I have received a parking fine for £100 From a private parking company. Told by hotel I have to sort this myself. Very disappointed. This should not be my problem!

Good facilities. Lovely staff. Good value. Rooms get a little too warm. Chicken Kiev was a bit dry.

Just got married here and has been a nightmare I really would stay clear, they didn’t provide enough food even though we paid to cater 100 guests and we only had around 80 guests on the day and there still wasn’t enough food as I had guests tell me they went up to the buffet to find nothing left but chicken drummers that no one would touch as they looked raw the waiter there demolished our cake people was walking around with crumbs in serviettes which was our lovely cake as they offered to cut it and serve it for us that was a big mistake then we paid for 100 bacon rolls to only receive around 25 on a small tray so all our guests left early as they were hungry when there wasn’t enough food and if that didn’t ruin our whole day now I’ve had my guests phone me to inform me they have received a fine for parking there which we were told our guests got free parking as long as they gave there reg plate to reception which they did but have still been fined I honestly wish I had never picked this venue and I feel like crying as my whole wedding experience has been ruined and even my guests are gonna wish they didn’t come now as there being fined.

I really liked this hotel. Very spacious, comfortable room with everything I wanted including plenty of power sockets. My food was very nice at dinner and breakfast, although the lighting in the main part of the restaurant was odd — daylight LEDs on the wall gave a 1970s fluorescent light effect — unpleasant. Nice bathroom with the most powerful shower I have come across in the UK! Up to and beyond American standards — I actually had to turn it down a bit. Friendly and efficient staff, Particularly Phyllis on reception who cheerfully went the extra mile to help me with some things.

Nice room with a view over the water. Excellent breakfast. Access to the pool and gym, makes it extra special. Great location for shopping at Merry Hill, and exploring the local area. Highly recommend the Black Country Living Museum.

Well appointed room. Comfortable bed, but the bathroom smelt awful, like bathing next to raw effulance. Pity because the staff and other amenities were first class.

Nice venue with ample parking. The conference room was lovely and the food provided was tasty. The hotel was clean and staff very friendly.

Horrific place! Went to view for wedding booking. Received a car park fine with no warning or explanation after an agreed appointment with them. Called to advise for help and the reception advised that your meant to tell them your license plate. Well, when we originally arrived we went to reception and they never asked for it or advised needed it. They have not helped or owned this issue for an honest mistake. Left us to worry and try to sort this on our own. Would take 2 minutes to send an email to the 3rd party debt company to advise / revert. BUT They refuse to help. Safe to say we will not be have our evening ceremony here!

The rooms are very specious. The breakfast is great with a lot of choice. The swimming pool is lovely.

The hotel was ok. It didn't feel like a 4star. The function room was nice but the guest rooms needed decorating. Staff were generally nice apart from one at breakfast who didn't want to provide us with clean plates.

Clean, spacious rooms. Decent bath. Good breakfast although setup to actually get breakfast slow and not well organised. Coffee machines seems to not work. Staff friendly and helpful. Be prepared for noise if your at the front of the hotel as this is used for weddings. People shouting loudly till 1:30am in car park for two nights on the trot, likely boozed up. Mentioned to staff and they said they'd mention it to the night staff. This put a pale on the stay as could still hear despite ear plugs. So mixed bag. Would stay again if noise sorted and breakfast better organised.

Nice looking hotel, appears to have had make over recently. Staff have been helpful and friendly. Only one real issue, no water in shower this morning. Arranged new room quickly and efficiently for our second night.

Hotel in good location. Breakfast good but reduced compared to a time. It was a very nice hotel. Expensive in relation to the structure.

The Copthorne is very well located if, like me, you have a business meeting in the offices across the canal. The first room I was given was a double bed with an accompanying single bed. It was clean and the double bed was extremely comfortable but unfortunately I had to request to move room shortly after as the window, that had been left open, would not shut properly as there was a draught and noise. Another bugbear of mine with this room with this room was the moldy bath seals which you would have hoped to have been picked up when the room was cleaned. The member of staff on reception who dealt with this was very helpful having promptly looked at the window and then agreed to move me. I was moved to another, identical room on the second floor and all was well with this so that was fine. Both hotel rooms were tastefully decorated and it was the same with the entrance lobby; it gave the impression of good quality. Disappointly, there was no free Wi-Fi available to guests. The hotel's restaurant was average: service was very friendly but slow, a side item missing from my order and the mixed grill buffet which initially sounded very promising, did not look very appealing in the flesh. Food was good when it arrived and breakfast was pleasant. Would return if I had business in the same place due to its convenient location but would give it a second thought if there was another option to try.

There was an error with my booking which was promptly resolved at checking. My keycard an other documents were already prepared which made check-in quick. Heading up to the room showed that the hotel needs somewhat of a makeover with badly worn carpet and damaged walls in high traffic area. The room however was clean and well presented. It was clean and the carpet looked to be fairly new, just like the new pillows on the bed. I headed down for dinner in the bar and although the menu is quite limited the food came promptly and was of fair to good quality. All the staff in the bar were very friendly and polite. However, staff in the restaurant are not always so hospitable from precious stays. The restaurant manager was actually on come dine with me, won, then had the prize money revoked because it was discovered that he was a restaurant manager. Food in the restaurant also contained undisolved stock cubes during a stay here in November 2014. The manager was quick to assure me it wasn't a stock cube and they didn't use them — this left me wondering what on earth it was! Gym and pool facilities are good although I don't use them much.

Excellent hotel with great staff! Attended quite a few event evenings here and always been very impressed, the food and the entertainment have always need great and the staff are very helpful! I'm a member of the gym and always find the fitness staff approachable and the gym now looks great after a bit of refurbishment! Would love to see the proper digital scales back though!
