Nice cheap holiday — only bad part is no parking-food nice and in very friendly atmosphere xxx.

Disgraceful hotel! My dad has been staying there for 6 months He has tried to book a room tonight for a homeless man as it is freezing outside! He offered to pay, use his own card and if any damage or anything was done he would pay for it and they refused to put the man up for the night because he was homeless! Absolutely disgusting, want to be ashamed of themselves.

This place needs to be gutted. It's seen better days. Breakfast is disgusting the worst I have ever eaten.

Very dated and tatty. Staff friendly very disappointing considering the price of the room! Beds were clean but not enough pillows. The roof had a leak at sometime and ceiling paper coming off. Wouldn’t go again.

The hotel was lovely and the bedroom was great. The staff where lovely and friendly and food was lovely.

No hot water available and no apology from staff because of it. No offer of a refund (not that it made a difference to me as my company paid), but I’ve never experienced a stay in a hotel where there’s no hot water. The room was dirty and the hotel was dated. The bed was comfortable but that was the only plus really in what was n otherwise bad stay.

The reception area, lounge, bar and restaurant on the ground floor were all very nice and well kept. The room was old and worn-out, and quite broken in places. The breakfast was okay. We had previously joked that there would be fried bread and black pudding on offer, to match the age of the room. And, of course, there was!

Went to this hotel with Majestic holidays. An average Hotel. With basic food. Ok for a couple of days stay. The one big problem, was the homeless people outside the hotel entrance.

Basic accomadation and room was clean. Booked best dinner but told we had to be out with in an hour as table needed and breakfast told we had to wait 20 minutes for table but free tables were available, I suggested we cancel and eat else where then a table was soon found. When your diabetic insulin dependent 5 times a day regular meals essential. Booked room with meals however next time. We will eat else where. Unsure what best dinner is. But what was served was well presented.

We found the hotel (although a bit dated) to be clean, the food was good, the staff were efficient and polite, the central location is brilliant with everything on the doorstep like the transport museum, cathedral and the shopping centre. Our only criticism is that the hotel guests are constantly being pestered by the many beggars and homeless that congregate around the beer garden / smoking area, and no one seems to be trying to prevent this, (not very good for business) in our case although we gave the hotel a good rating, I don't think we will be returning any time soon.

Even for a buck, this place is just depressing. Best to save up 10 pounds per night more and stay in an actual cozy place. I gave one star because the room was at least properly cleaned.

It's like stepping back to the 70's. Pleasant enough though. Good location for graduation! Have stayed twice now, so we know that to expect. Reception staff were really helpful.

The location is very good. Really horrible hygiene (smell of urine), room really very basic… short try to avoid.

Reception is impressive but our room is dated and dirty! Drips on bedframe, pink fingerprints all over the bathroom door, brown limescale in sink and tired 80s furniture. Took us 40 minutes to find a car park because the one the hotel recommends only takes coins and none of the local shops would break up our notes.

Lovely three course carvery lunch time at a fantastic price of £6 during the week. Comfortable dining room and friendly service.

Went for a carvery. The starter was lovely although limited choice, main carvery was mixed… meat was good, Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes lovely but the rest very average. I went without a dessert as the choice was awful. Price was very reasonable. The staff were ok but don't go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

It's looking a bit tatty but for the price and welcome received it's a great hotel. Bit of a pain if your a driver but excellent for the city attractions you can't get closer to many. The room we booked was quiet even though your close to the main road. Will stay again.

Cheap and cheerful. Badly in need of a refurb although it is kept clean. Showing its age and tired looking. Good three course buffet for £8.50 per head for guests, book at reception. Breakfast is £7.00. Handy location in the city centre with council run car park a short stroll away. Spacious rooms. The bar closes at 10.30 which is unusual in a hotel. Overall a good stay for the price.

A lot of problems. Heating broke down in dining room and dance room. Only one lift was working. We was told a time to go in for our dinner, then told us and 6 other people that there was no room. So we had to wait 20 minutes. For our breakfast there was about 30 young people who came in from swimming and then they run out of food and again had to wait. But I have to say the bed linen and towels was beautifully clean. The staff in reseption were lovely.

Aside from the hotel being fairly outdated, my room was unsanitary and smelled like smoke. The toilet was filled with an unknown black substance and yellow-green water was left in the water boiler. The beds weren't very cozy and the sheets seemed to not have been washed prior to my stay. However, the hotel served it's purpose and the staff were nice and helpful during our stay.

Nice hotel. Comfortable. The food was excellent. Decent sized bedrooms. Could do with some modernisation in the bedrooms. The building is ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside. I'd go back there again.

Hello Britannia — Team, we have spent our first and last night as a 10-person group with you!
The result was that in our room there was a bloody hand print on the wall, the water tasted like chlorine and everywhere there was dirt on the walls. Moreover, the reception was so low that we had to get to 10. Had to split up into two 4-bed rooms. In case of problems such as lost suitcases, the reception did not ask for help. One person had to spend a night in the bathtub due to dust mites allergy, as they had no air due to the dust masses in the room. The toilet was not flushed, the heating was not working and the insulation was so bad and the noise nuisance at night was so great that you could not sleep but was always woken by noisy people in the hallways at 3 o'clock or outside noises.
We always recommend the food. The breakfast was inedible, it consisted only of old fat-fried and cold pieces of meat and disgusting rubber-like mirror eggs. We found a hair in the food! Absolutely disgusting!
All together: a big catastrophe!

This is a hotel we visit regularly no hairs and graces but the people that run this hotel are really good always willing to help. Any problems solved straight away nothing to much trouble. We'll worth a visit.

It was probably once a nice hotel, however it's now tired and dated. In the room I had all of the decor was reminiscent of the early 90's, although it may well date back further, and you could tell the furniture hadn't been changed. The fronts were hanging off all of the drawers and there was a large water mark (or something like that) in the carpet. The bath was big but the side panel was coming away, and the toilet seat almost fell off in my hand when I lifted it. The hotel doesn't have parking, the nearest pay & display charges £1 overnight which is OK, but a mild inconvenience. You're also located next to Coventry Uni's student halls as well as the bus station, so it can get a bit noisy outside. Once the noise died down I slept well, the bed was quite comfy although the 2 pillows provided were quite thin. Cleanliness was good too.

We originally booked a family room for 3 people and upon arrival we only had 2 single beds and a very hard pull out bed set up. We spoke to the staff on reception who were very accomodating. Changed the bed completely and provided extra pillows and towels for the nights stay. Worth recommending as it is very close to all tourist attractions and the food is very nice from here.

Basic rooms but nice and clean. A very comfortable sleep. Evening meal was standard but edible. Breakfast was good plenty of variety over all a pleasant stay.

This place is so bad. It's what I imagine hell looked like before they found the matches. I was training with two colleagues and we all checked in, went to drop off our bags and go out for a meal. When we met up we all established that we'd each found hairs either on the sheets, in the bath and a "personal" one-in the sink. The toilet handle had come away from the tiling in my room and my colleague didn't have a door on a wardrobe. The breakfast was dire and the lady serving it was banging and crashing plates and looked stressed. I was sat right next to a large fountain that wasn't working and looked decidedly weird plonked in the middle of the room. Upon checking out there were two guests complaining, and the staff just looked beleaguered and resigned to the litany of unhappy guests they must regularly face.

Worst hotel ever! — Room was disgusting, wasn't cleaned — Dried snot on the walls — Pubes and hair in bath and toilet uncleaned — Half a toilet roll — Coffee cup stains on surfaces — One maid burst into our room without knocking on 3 separate occasions, randomly, no apology, — Another male maid also wandered in on his phone, but did apologise — Disgraceful we were waiting for the door to open again any minute — Holes in carpets and unhoovered, bits of litter everywhere — Elevator buttons missing leaving bare wires :o — The landing carpet was covered in litter and coke cans — Noise all night long from teenagers running riot around the place — Floor stunk of weed This experience has put me off Britannia for life and the should be thoroughly ashamed on themselves!

Really enjoyed meal. Plenty hot food. Also have vegetarian food. Service very good. Will book again. Thank you.

A hotel that urgently needs a refurbishment in the rooms. And if you want to put aside the decay and the most conservative of the English style, you should change everything.
The good thing is that it is in the center and if you catch it in time, it is not too expensive.

Good location near busses, taxis, cafes and shops, the staff were efficient and polite but the place just seemed a bit old fashioned and run down a little. The bathroom wasn't overly clean and the toilet seat didn't look like it had been cleaned under, there were stains and a hole in towels. Teaspoons and mugs needed a good clean. Bed was not at all comfortable, it was too hard, rippley and felt like you were rolling off it. The heating was on a timer and didn't come on till 7pm and it got quite cold in the afternoon.

Very convenient location. A shopping mall, Sainsbury's supermarket, car Museum, St. 31 church and bus hub, Coventry University is just a stone's throw away. The restaurant is very beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room facilities are simple, but there is ironing board, hair dryer, Wi-Fi free, but the signal in the room is poor. Breakfast is not very rich, but the typical English breakfast of roasted black sausage, bacon and so on. Breakfast is not as rich as Premier Inn without roasted mushrooms. Toothpaste toothbrush slippers have to bring your own OH.

The hotel has clearly been in the years, but is also relatively inexpensive with about €30 per person per night in a double room.

Reception staff were probably my highlight of my stay! There was homeless people all around the hotel drinking bottles of cider and asking for fags which wasn’t very comfortable for a woman staying alone! My room wasn’t the best, stains on the floor, flush on toilet needs fixing, cold water tap not working in bath, window very hard to close after being left open on my arrival! Tv on a low stand so hard to watch! Overall a very disappointing stay.

Where to start.? OK, staff were fine. Rooms were tatty. Bathroom sink had splits all around the plug hole. Shower very dated and parts missing. Mouldy bathmatt rolled up on the side of bath. Towels cheap and thinning. Bed was tiny, and I’m only 5’8. Pillows were thin and lumpy. TV was on a small chest of drawers in the middle of the room. Weird. Lifts smelled of wet woodland walks? Was that deliberate? Didn’t know you offered sensory lift experiences, very holistic. Had to pay for my crappy roast beef carvery dinner before I ate it. Good idea guys, no one in their right mind would pay for what must have been a roast Zebu if they knew prior to ordering. Having to buy drinks at the bar to take into the Restaurant to have with the Zebu was odd too. I arrived to eat at about half seven and what remained of the help yourself dinner was well dried by the solar flare food re-heating lamp. I went back to my room slightly bemused, and still a bit hungry. Happy to stay again, in Coventry, elsewhere, unless some serious investment is made in what could be a real money maker.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the check in desk looked rather busy nice. The main issue was the little things, such as the rooms and facilities. Two power outlets in the entire room and the matress was lumpy. The condition of the toilet and shower were pretty grim, although this was because of wear and tear rather than bad hygiene. The cost of the hotel wasn't too pricey and I wasn't expecting much, but a little bit more would have been nice.

It's not too bad. There is Wifi and the hotel restaurant is really pretty. There was a leaking tap in the room though and the bathroom looks old but everything else was okay.

The hotel has a great location, a simple short walk to all the amenities. The hotel itself is rather old and dated feeling. I had a twin room which was very warm and load. The furniture in the room was pretty tatty and the room smelt dusty. The bed was comfortable. The staff were OK, felt that they could have been more welcoming and attentive as they ignored me when I arrived and wanted to check in my bag.

Spent 4 nights at this hotel whilst on a coach trip. Right next door to Coventry Cathedral and the Bus Station! The rooms were very clean, spacey and airy, the bathroom was well appointed and we were very pleased. Only downside was the noise, unfortunately our room was over the the porched entrance which actually straddled the road, this meant that every vehicle passing (remember the bus station) echoed as did voices and any other noise. Fortunately the hotel wasn't too busy and we were given another room on the 6th floor which was perfect, we even managed to have the windows open all night. The food was to a very good standard with 2 or three choices each night, same with breakfast. We also found the staff very nice and friendly.

The hotel from the outside looks dated and it's location right opposite the bus station means crossing the road to get to the hotel can be problematic. The foyer area is nice and clean although the staff uniform reminded me of hospital staff. The rooms are large, the bed comfortable. There doesn't appear to be any insulation from the noise outside the hotel meaning a fitful sleep and the curtains are certainly not blackout ones as the room was completely lit by 5am which meant an early rise. This could be a good hotel if a little attention to details was taken.

This hotel is a great stay for budget travelers. Here are the pros: we enjoyed breakfast and the extremely convinient location right in the city centre. The staff was also very helpful. The breakfast costs extra but is buffet style so there was no way we could have gone hungry in the morning. Loved the scrambled eggs. The provisions for guests are a bit minimal but the hotel is overall a great deal for the money and I do not regret the stay. Here are some cons: Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby, so we needed to go down to use it. Lobby seating was often full as other guests were also using the Wi-Fi there. Our room door was difficult to close so we had to slam it a bit too make it close, and given the echoing slams we often heard from down the hall I would reckon that other guests had the same issue. The beds were a little bit uncomfortable (but not extremely so) and the walls are a little thin. Probably not a good place for a honeymoon or romantic stay as the atmosphere is not particularly relaxing. Sometimes the wait to speak with someone at the front desk was long as there was only one staff member manning it at a time. Our tube television also did not work, although that wasn't a big deal and I assume that other rooms wouldn't necessarily have the same issue. Provisions for our room were minimal but definitely enough to get by.

I arrived here at 1am on a flight from Edinburgh. Had it not been so late, and the street as my other option, I would have left as soon as I entered the room. Filthy, bed unmade, dirt on bed, as if someone had slept in it with shoes on. Soaking wet towels on floor. Room stunk of stale cigarettes, with yellow walls to go with it. Furniture sticky to touch, with nicotine. Toilet wouldn't flush, (which explained why it had been used, and not flushed). I slept on a chair. Fire alarm kept letting out a beep every nown again. I was booked in for three nights, but left early next morning after first night. I hope people read this and save themselves the experience I had. Do not book this hotel. It's the worst I have ever been in. It doesn't even merit the one star rating, but can't give any less.

One of the most disappointing hotels I have stayed in considering the price. I booked myself in for a weekend and had it been any longer I would have had to leave. Where should I start… I will just mention the main issues I had during my stay. For one the room furnishings looked ancient, a decade old TV with almost no channels and no sign of any drinkable water or a minibar. I have honestly stayed at 3 star hotels in developing countries with better amenities. I was told the Wi-Fi would not reach my room on the 6th floor and for some reason the hotel seemed inexplicably understaffed each time I sought help. The staff themselves were clearly unaware of the meaning of hospitality and made little effort to be helpful. I was asked by the front desk if I was staying with them multiple times upon entering as if I was an intruder. On my second night I overheard a commotion on my floor and discovered one of the staff demanding a man leave his room or the police would be notified. Both these incidents seemed indicative of the type of guest this hotel usually attracts. What baffles me most is how the owners of the chain can allow this hotel to be run so poorly, it is at best deserving of 2 stars. My experience here has put me off staying at any Britannia owned hotel again. Some minor investment and better management could easily make this hotel competitive and the owners would know that if they'd ever actually set foot in the place or bothered reading the reviews.

Hotel is ideal just for a place to put your head down. Not the cleanist of places however is standard. Could do with an update to modern rooms with newer tvs and more channels. As for free Wi-Fi…! Its only in the lobby area! Staff are great though happy to help and cheery. Not the worse I would say but yeah ideal to crash out and get on with it.

Nice bar with a good selection of drinks. Service was fast and friendly. TV's weren't too intrusive which is always good.

Never ever again. 2 rooms booked for myself and 3 children. 17 12 and 8. Given a twin and double. Same floor but completely different areas. Double room stank of cigarettes and found a cup with dig ends on the window ledge. Non smoking room too! So asked to have that room changed to be closer to other room. None available apparently. Knock on door later to say they would bring a bed in for us to all be together. Bed arrived 30 mins later. A single! That's all that was available apparently! Our other room was re booked out in the meantime so I was left to SLEEP ON THE FLOOR. Hotel smelt of Hash. Drugs raid before breakfast on the corridor my children would have been on. Ohh I could go on and on.

Reception staff were ok as we arrived, informative and friendly, maybe some people just need to talk nicely to those who are serving them? Stayed in a lot worse for £46 but also stayed in better. Good location but definitely in need of a revamp plus the cleaners need a kick up the arse as I found a number of long black hairs on the bathroom floor plus wanted a bath but it looks like its not been cleaned in a long time. Beds not fab but acceptable for a couple of nights. TV is from 1990 something and windows need a good scrub. Other than that, not bad. Parking across the street only 50p 6pm to 8am which suits contractors like me.

This incompetent hotel cannot be rated. There is no competent person at the reception who can actually confirm and cancel your booking efficiently, and the management is extremely bad. The check people into your room after you have cancelled it and charge you for it and when you try and get the refund, they do not give you the full amount. This hotel is a sorry excuse for a hotel and your money is better spent in a shack.

Couple on National Holidays Tour. Dirty windows, curtains, cracked sink, toilet flush handle hanging off wall (reported to reception 1st day) still same after 4 days. Senior manager? in dining room very rude to my wife and I, accusing us of ignoring a member of staff, when we hadn't even seen them behind the serving bar, we apologised to her but he kept on about loudly it in front of other guests and our friends, and made us feel very small and embarrassed. Would we stay there again — NO NOT EVER.

We have just left this hotel a day early as we just could not stay another night. Yes the bedding and towels were clean but the rest is in dire need of a thorough clean. The bathroom floor was dirty, as was the bath side panel. The basin had several cracks, harbouring germs. The windows were filthy inside and out. Near 1 of the bedside cabinets something had been splilt, some time ago, but never cleaned. There was no hot water. We did report this, but it did not improve. We had an evening meal in the restaurant the 1st night, big mistake. The table was sticky and the floor dirty. Having the name Brittania is a complete insult and certainly not worthy of this hotel.
