Delicious food with vegan options. Great staff too.

Great facilities for a Conference.

The bathroom door handle was loose.
The bath plug was broken.
Had to repeat my options for room service 3 times as the lady on the phone kept getting it wrong.
The Wi-Fi didn’t work on my phone or tablet — not what I needed when I had an exam the next day.
Breakfast; no staff around to say good morning, to book me in or tell me where anything was.
Apparently there’s a gym and swimming pool; wasn’t advised where these were.
The cleaning lady stole one of my chocolate cake slices Had 6 slices left came back and there was 5.
For a conference hotel I was expecting it to be a lot more modern with plenty of plug sockets and staff on hand.
Overall a very poor stay and not worth the money I paid.

A fantastic venue and the service, professionalism and hospitality are outstanding. A huge thanks to everyone at Conference Aston for giving us such an amazing day.

Ideal for conference. Clean rooms and hotel, polite and very helpful staff. Car park not easy to find and not given the code to get into it until I rang the hotel twice.

Amazing place to be for seminar. Centrally located. Neat and tidy interior.

I'm staying here right now, it's quite nice downstairs where the bar/restaurant/reception. There is a nice area to sit in a courtyard. The downside is where the rooms are. The corridors looks old and rickety, but the rooms are too small. 1 night should be ok, but anything more and you'll be feeling a bit cramped. The other weird thing is the bathroom… the bathroom door is made of glass and the toilet right behind it so you can sit on the toilet and see the bed/rest of the room. So if there is more than one person in the room you will get to know each other very intimately indeed! The last thing… the pillows! Buy some new ones! These are too thin and hard, I think they have been used a bit too much now.

An odd place within the heart of Aston University, about a mile out of the city centre. It really doesn't feel that much like a hotel, perhaps because it's more of a conference venue than anything else. Drove round and round trying to find where the car park was. Gave up and went to hotel reception after phoning up to no avail, only to be told I needed to drive round to an underground car park which was both difficult to find and difficult to get into (I needed a code which I hadn't been given). Thought the room was absolutely fine, but worked out quite expensive once you'd added on the cost of parking and the very expensive breakfast (oddly priced at £13.13). Also the Wi-Fi didn't work during my stay. Staff were friendly enough but wouldn't recommend, unless you are attending a conference there or need to be at Aston University.

I am a Trustee for Lynch Syndrome UK. Each year we hold a conference for our members to get the latest information from specialists in Lynch Syndrome. This was our 4th Conference and by far the best in terms of organising and holding the event. Everyone loved the venue and the food was well commented on. Everyone from our room porters, reception, restaurant, bar and event planner were excellent and so friendly. We also had rooms at the hotel and they were well stocked and clean. Only down to them was how hot they were. It was great for those arriving by train, just a short walk away. Feedback on car parking was hit and miss with some struggling to find them. All in all a fantastic venue and fabulous staff.

Lynch Syndrome UK National Conference The Aston offers appreciable corporate style hospitality, this is our fourth conference, the first time we have been to the Aston and I can honestly say — the best so far, wonderful relaxed atmosphere, the staff are friendly, engaging and helpful, we were made to feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. A buffet lunch was provided for delegates, the food was exceptional, way beyond our expectations, the grazing station with drinks, nibbles and sweets went down well and was constantly topped up. This venue cannot be faulted and we will be back. Thank you.

Attended a training course this week. Facilities great, food plentiful and excellent in quality. Generally great place. All staff were friendly and smart. All areas were clean and well presented. Well done.

I’m staying here with work at the moment. Rooms are very, very small. Fixtures are good but linens and dressings not so much. Food is good but not 5 star. But what has really impressed are the staff. Restaurant, reception and night porter — every single member of staff I’ve met, talked to or needed help from has been absolutely impeccable. Genuinely friendly, wanting to help and knowledgeable enough to be able to fix what needs fixing. Honestly, I have never had such consistently good service at a hotel, or anywhere! Thank you so much for everything :-)

Very nice room, good price and good service, cannot fault.

The hotel was very nice and the staff were absolutely lovely. We went for the breakfast option and it didn't disappoint. If were to have any complaints it would be that the rooms are a little small and the walls are paper thin. But all in all I really enjoyed my stay, the location is great and quite peaceful of an evening.

The hotel looks nice and impressive from the outside and downstairs where you can help yourself to free coffee and tea. However, when you leave the ground floor and make your way to the room the hallway is incredibly narrow making it hard to carry a lot of baggage. The room (double room) was small and once inside the room there appeared to be no insulation?! You could very clearly hear people in the rooms above and either side having conversations. The hotel was incredibly loud at night with what sounded like people running up and down corridor, which constantly woke me up. If anyone stopped to have a conversation they sounded like they were in your room. The hotel seemed to resemble the perfect place for a dirty night away as I was constantly woke up by the sound of people having sex in the room next to and above me. Don't get me wrong we all like a bit of love making but this was excessive with loud shrieking from one woman occurring several times throughout one of the nights. Very disappointed and let down. Couldn't wait to leave to give my ear drums a rest!

Ooooh amazing hotel. I really enjoyed being in this clean, quite and well organised hotel. The staff is very respectful and helpful. The room is being cleaned and supplied with shower soap, coffee and delicious biscuits everyday. I have visited many hotels in Birmingham, and so far this is one of the best. It is even better than Holiday Inn Express and the price, in addition, is cheaper.

Great location being very close to the city center, and the hotel is extremely clean. Staff are excellent: helpful and friendly. The room however was extremely tiny, and had a transparent bathroom door. Like… why would anyone have a transparent bathroom door? The Wi-Fi was the slowest I have used in 10 years. The bathroom had no soap tray which was extremely odd. The bathroom sink was tiny. The table in the room was very small, so I could barely fit my standard laptop on it along with the kettle and other things already on the table. Overall, not very good value for money.

Good affordable place to stay nice facilities good to stay with work, parking a little tricky if you follow satnav so check before. Breakfast a disappointment. Left standing waiting to be seated for 5 min then just told to find a seat which was hard as none we're prepped from previous guests. No tables we're cleared throughout the whole of the time I was there had to sit at a half uncleared table. Shame as food was nice and choice was great … just grimy.

Great facilities, comfortable room and excellent food. A particular mention for the catering/waiting staff who were so friendly and helpful.
Rooms could do with better lighting and the venue needs better signage outside but apart from that all round very good.

My and my partner stayed couple weeks back only for one night. Definitely would recommend for short stay. Good room and facilities. Quite tricky found the parking plus you have to pay extra for that, otherwise all good. Friendly & helpful staff — old-ish lady on reception helped and showed us on the map where to go etc which was very nice of her. Highly recommend place to stay!

Good room and facilities. Found parking tricky. There is a 20 min on the main road outside which I found at the second attempt. Left just enough time to get to reception and sort out a permit for parking in hotel car park.

Great facilities that are fairly well priced in the centre of Birmingham more open access to the sports and swimming facilities would be nice and being more upfront about them being shared with the student cohort would be equally nice but for the price location and facilities on offer it's a great option.

A little awkward for the city centre. However excellent staff and nice breakfast. Parking a bit confusing.

Good conference venue. Room is fine for purpose of charging things and sleeping and even watching a bit of telly. Nice apples were available if you like fresh fruit. Good range of hot drinks. Added bonus was access to the gym and swimming pool just around the corner (remember to take a towel though).

Surprisingly nice hotel. Rooms are very spacious and well appointed. Great location close to New Street station. 10min walk. Superb breakfast and the bar area looks comfortable too. The only letdown is the small size of the beds; a double at best. Cozy if sharing. An unexpected bonus if you could call it that, was overhearing insightful coversations through the air vent system. Less nice was overhearing other guests vigorously enjoying each other carnally at 4am. We were tempted to aid their completion by giving encouraging commentary through the same air vents.

In comparison to similar price alternatives, even three star hotels in Birmingham, this place really wasn't all that great. We got told our room was executive, but it was more like a student dormitory, felt small and stuffy. For such a modern building you'd expect some air con facilities or temperature control but there was nothing, the windows open a tiny amount. All that was provided was a little fan, that was very Loud when you're trying to sleep. I could feel it's air but naturally my partner couldn't on the other side of the bed. Bed wasn't very comfortable, mattress felt cheap. There was 2 ladies on reception, one of them was new and was nervous about serving and charging us correctly, the other lady a lot younger with brunette help then served us instead, compeletly disregarding the older new lady's efforts. Clearly making her feel small and incompetent in front of us as customers. Really unpleasant awkward situation. She was new… no need to be so harsh on her.

Okay staff, could smile and be cheery a bit more as it gives a more welcoming environment. Food is pretty good and not too costly. Location good and plenty of different places to park.

I would like to give a big shout out to Mark. He is the head House keeper. I left Amercan candy in the fridge which was a gift and forgot to take it with me. I went back for it and it had not been handed in. Mark fixed the problem. Thank you so much for making it right Mark! You are awesome!

Had an awful night. There's a night club nearby and if you are unfortunate enough to get a room on that side of the hotel then you aren't getting any sleep until dawn! The automatic light system in the corridors is rather loud too.
Rave music thumping away all night long. The staff aren't too friendly either.
The rooms are comfy enough but the bathroom door was glass so if you're sharing with a partner, no intimacy there! Also some rooms are very far from the lift! A good long walk through the corridors, which have locks on the doors, making it quite a mission to see other guests on different floors.

Although I only had a single room it was clean and comfortable. The food was generally ok but dinner one evening they had run out of lots of things despite only coming down ten minutes after it started. The staff were always helpful and friendly.

Great location (about 15 mins from Birmingham New Street station). Perfect for conferences with decent food served too. Pity the bar closes so early though. Rooms are standard business affair. But clean and had everything you need (including iron and ironing board). TV is great also!

Attended an overnight conference. Very well organised. Hotel was very good; clean room, comfortable bed, enormous TV, good bathroom, good meals, excellent breakfast. No issues or complaints. Would be happy to stay again.

The conference area is fantastic. Perfect size for our company and the staff is very professional and accommodating. The hotel itself is not the best. No AC or Heat on the rooms (they provide a fan! ) so my room got quite warm. I'm 6'7 and I had a twin bed to sleep in… Ugh.

Rooms comfortable but fairly basic, walls quite thin. Public areas much better, good bar and restaurant and helpful and friendly staff throughout.

Apart from being quite hard to find among the buildings of the university, the hotel is really lovely, the room was nice and quite large bed comfortable. The food was excellent and you can use the swimming pool on campus. Would go back no problem.

Attended an event organised by the local council, the venue is well presented, clean an professional.

This Hotel is reasonably priced, has a good modern look and friendly staff.

Great place, great process, great swimming pool, great location.
