An absolute disgrace. My dogs are staying in better accomodation in their kennels than this. I wouldn’t give it 1 star but had to to write a review. The “family room” we booked was damp, peeling, absolutely stinking and frankly revolting. We moved to 2 double rooms which aren’t much better. The window is falling off literally and can’t shut, it is filthy, the sheets are not clean, it smells, the furniture wouldn’t be acceptable in a hostel… I could go on! Only been here an hour but there seem to be no redeeming features. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. At nearly £100 a night it’s a complete rip off.

Poor quality and dirty rooms. I was told the other rooms are of a similar standard by the staff. Reasonably close to the high street if driving. About a 20 minute walk away. Has a nice quiet gym. Probably the best thing about the hotel along with a decent breakfast selection.

A really nice hotel. We had a fabulous room overlooking the river, and the staff were incredibly friendly and courteous. A great breakfast was provided, and cups were available to take away a hot drink if you would prefer.

Room was clean and functional but the whole place is in need of a bit of a refurb to be honest. A few too many carpets held together with duct tape and wobbly tiles on the bathroom floor. However, having stayed in many of these types of establishments for business, the setting is lovely! I can't hear any traffic, there is a small lake outside my window and I've slept every night with the window open without any distracting noise. Given the location I'd say that's a bonus and I've enjoyed my few days here. Swimming pool and sauna both closed for maintenance during my stay, May 2018.

My sister booked birthday party for her one year old in Penns quay room yesterday. The service was brilliant from the young lady who was in charge. She put in a lot of hard work in to make everything as we wanted and it's much appreciated and also the two gentlemen helped her. Thank you for a great service.

Rooms and shared areas of the hotel were fine. Food was good and the dining room is lovely. However there were some issues with customer service — room keys for my party and several others repeatedly failed for no reason. Despite having booked around a year in advance my party of three were given a double room and as the hotel was full two people had a share a double level bed with the third on a put-up which was obviously not ideal. The construction of the hotel means that doorways and corridors are narrow, and there lots of sets of steps, which means accessibility can be an issue, so not overly friendly to the mobility impaired. Bar closing times appeared to be a bit random and as far as I can see, based on whether staff wanted to be there or not.

Went for afternoon tea with friends. Warm friendly staff at reception and the bar. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely fresh sandwiches and choice of cakes. Freshest scones we have had for a long time and excellent pot of tea. Well done.

Filthy, absolutely filthy. The room stunk of dirty hair and cigarettes. And she. We complained about it we were offered a "discount" as if it were a favour! Like we were complaining to save money and not because we have very little time off and planned a trip around a place that was too repulsive to spend a second night in (we only spent the first because it was evening when we arrived and it took an hour to be allocated our room and by that time my autistic son would not have understood why we were not going to go to the swimming pool. ) The swimming pool is lovely and warm and the change rooms were clean. So maybe try the health club but avoid the hotel!

Had a great stay here. Stayed for two nights as we went to the Gardener's World live at the NEC. Staff were helpful and friendly. Ate in the restaurant on the first night. Had a lovely breakfast as well. Would use it again.

Positives — Room had recently been refurbished, Leisure facilities were lovely Negatives — The hot water for the shower had no pressure at ANY point in the day, you had to sit down to get the head low enough for it to run. My wife asked 3 times for a hairdryer (as there wasn't one in the room) but it never showed. On the last day the breakfast gave me food poisoning, my doctor confirmed the timings.

Really tired hotel in need of renovation. We got a reasonably cheap deal on a room, so the value was good, but the decor is very old fashioned, the service a bit too casual, and the bed not very comfortable. The bar and breakfast was too expensive for what was provided, not good value for me.

Great weekend overnight stay. Wowcher deal b&b with access to the spar and afternoon tea. Great spot for access to central Birmingham. I would definitely go again for the river setting and the comfy rooms. Breakfast buffet was very good.

I fined myself struggling to write this review, because this hotel does all things you expect from a hotel and what you expect from a room, it had four walls a ceiling and even a little bathroom, also a bed. The room was an executive suit but I wasn't blown away by the size or quality of the room for paying that bit more. The room needed some maintenance and had some ruff edges like brown tape on the window to stop a draft, or a new rubber along the shower screen to stop the water from running over onto the floor. It was nice to stop for one night, we was greeted and then given long directions to the room "go up the stairs here then turn left walk forward till you pass room 101 then take a right at the double doors but don't go through them, look to your right at a wardrobe, go through to Narnia, go passed the ice place and then take a long swim back to England and your room will be the third door passed the fourth" yes we got lost, but the view from the room was nice, not over looked or looking out into a road. Breakfast at extra cost wasn't happy about, would have thought it would come with the room for the price.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The awfulness of this place is probably why every other hotel nearby we wanted to stay in was booked up. £100 for bed and breakfast! Disinterested and aloof receptionist. The room we got would have been dated in the 1970's. TV had about 6 working channels. No heating control in room. Rust in bath, mould in bathroom. The list could go on but I am boring myself!   As a positive it did have a Corby trouser press. No self respecting hotel room should be without one!

Room was old and in need or renovation. Toilet seat was broken although it was fixed fairly quickly. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Shower was old and low pressure. Bar area was good with good beer prices. I had the burger from the bar menu which was average. Friends had the curry in the restaurant and said it was very good. Overall the public areas were fairly good but the rooms were less than a 3* standard. If I was back in the area I would go to an Ibis or similar.

Some staff are distinctly less than polite. At two points I was made to feel a nuisance for asking questions. Others were charming. Breakfast very good. Executive room not so good with mould in bathroom. The room was quite reasonably priced so I suppose you get what you pay for.

The hotel is in need of a refurbishment as looks tired. The room was OK but the bathroom was very poor. Was there for a conference. The staff were friendly and helpful. The layout is a, bit of a labyrinth. Bar small bit OK.

Smart hotel. Good sized room, clean and with all expected amenities. Bathroom was actually fab! Fantastic shower and the most amazing mirror for doing make up. Want one at home! Staff were very helpful. There is a bar and restaurant and breakfast was buffet style and very good indeed.

Quite rundown room facilities. Dirty walls and mildew in the bathroom.

Nice location, set in a park, reception not too friendly, arrival to the rooms not very easy, restaurant with menu too Indian…

Got a little lost when I first got there. The young lady I saw showed me exactly where to go. Friendly and helpful. The room we were in was well heated and the patio doors opened out onto the bridge across the lake. If you wanted to be distracted you were in the right place for a stunning view. Excellent venue for our training.

Really mixed impression of this place. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby, restaurant and bar were comfortable and clean. The food was hit and miss, some dishes were really delicious and proper nice but others seemed to be microwave from frozen! The rooms are approx ten miles away from anywhere else. Mine was simple yet comfortable and the bathroom was newly refurbished but my friends next door had holes in walls and a bathroom from 1950 east Berlin. My personal experience was 4/5 but I think the hotel overall is a 3/5.

Visited here on tea and spa day voucher. The tea wasn't all that good and we were placed at the back end of their small pub like room. Their sauna and steam rooms have been newly renovated and they were great. The pool is small but nice. Friendly staff too.

Location is lovely, but occasionally noisey due to events. The room was clean and we were provided with a bath and shower which was handy, although no hair dryer (I'm sure it would of been provided had we of asked). All together a nice weekend.

Stayed here for just one night but it was lovely. Gym and leisure facilities were great and the breakfast was incredible. Would love to find an excuse to come back!

One of the worst hotel stays I've ever had. Giant moth when I arrived, no soap or shampoo, etc when other rooms did have, towels we're never replaced and they rolled them up wet. Rooms were not nice. Key cards never worked past 24hours and room was miles from reception. Reception didn't pick up when called from room. Pool staff were rude and closed the facilities early. Hot tub wasn't hot.

The hotel is relatively clean and tidy. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The food is top notch with a great selection covering all needs. Only thing letting it down is the room would benefit greatly from modernisation. Nicely located and quiet with on-site health club and a woodland walk.
