Very nice, clean, pleasant staff and lovely food, we will return, great place.

It’s big enough to put families with Small children in a family area. And adults and older people in another area. Service was very good wine Pinot Grigio was good also. Total score 7 out of 10.

Stayed for one night while visiting family. Food was excellent, staff extremely helpful. Caitlin who served our breakfast was a ray of sunshine. We would definitely recommend.

Very friendly helpful staff, the food is excellent and we stayed in 2 family rooms and a double room which were very comfortable and decorated nice.

Visited Bowes Incline for lunch, food was great value and service was excellent. I’m vegan and I was very impressed that staff proactively gave information about veggie and vegan ingredients in food.

Just been for lunch at the bows incline with dine in deal. First off lovely staff no complaints at all with the staff. Starter had chicken wings and they were fried but came out still white and not crispy at all, really inedible. Mains we had burgers which were ok, nothing special at all actually quite dry, but fire alarm went off then when we came back in mine was Luke warm and couldn’t eat it, luckily for my son he grabbed his and took it outside with home but the chips were not great either, too fat and we had to leave them too, obviously the fire alarm was no ones fault but we left feeling hungry still and just glad it was only £17 and not £34

Good food choices at a reasonable price. The venue is comfortable and nicely set out. The garden seating is very attractive too! Staff were friendly and efficient.
The toilets look like they have just been refurbished. Will go back!

We’ve been visiting here for the past 7 years. We’ve yet to have a mediocre meal. The staff are attentive but not overbearing, the menu is extensive and the weekly specials are fabulous. The portions are generous for both the daytime and the standard menu. If you have a second compartment for one their homemade desserts (if you can manage one) they are very tasty, my favourite is the cheesecake which is changes daily. The younger dining menu is fantastic and has a good range to choose from. It’s certainly not the cheapest option out there but if you enjoy tasty, home cooked fresh food and a nice atmosphere you can’t go wrong here.

Lovely hotel/pub. Great food reasonably priced, portions are huge, staff are lovely and friendly. Good atmosphere, clean and tidy, outside also, very welcoming. Will definately be back, enjoyed it very much. Well done to all concerned.

Superb food very reasonably priced, very friendly staff who make you feel welcome but the downside was that at 4:25 it took them 20 minutes to tell me they had run out of "home made" steak and kidney pudding.

Rooms were very smart, clean and tidy. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was large and tasty. Excellent value for money.

I got a pork dinner and it was the driest food I've ever tasted there was a splash of gravy on and the meat was like card and tasted like prossest and it was cold. For the price I payed for it it was a desvrace last time I was in here I walked out coz of the wait for food this time is Deffo my last massive rip off.

Great Sunday lunch, fabulous service, the waitresses are just lovely, efficient and very friendly, the restaurant has a very relaxing ambience and we will definitely be going back, thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon, they serve a nice Pino as well, which, for us is always an added bonus!

This is a very nice place to relax with family and friends reasonably priced with very well prepared food politely served I for one will be coming back.

I was only passing through and stopped for one drink, It was very welcoming and one of the most relaxed atmosphere for a bar in the area. Didn't try the food but the menu looks good to consider in going back. Only issue is if you are not aware of the location it's presence you may not find it (but Google maps will be sure to direct you).

Had a lovely time at the bowes incline. Food was great and a good vegetarian menu. I It did not get 5 stars as staffing was a problem and it seemed 1 person doing reservations and bar work. Slow.

Access is along a long windy bumpy pot holed road. Needs updating. Staff were friendly. Had to take picture of menu boards as with hip problems I couldn’t stand long enough to read them and loads to choose from. Only menus on table were for lite bites. 5 of us at table. Opted for salads. Served with a side of bread and boiled potatoes. No side plate to use to butter bread on. First time I’d tried crab … not impressed. Knickerbocker glory was anything but. Served in a small glass ice cream dish. No more than fruit and ice cream with a dollop of cream on top. Overall passable. Doubt we’ll be back.

First time out after a knee replacement we Sat down, there was no menu on the table what we had to do was to stand in front of a blackboard to chose our meal not being able to stand very long I found it not the best thing to do we Left to find a pub that was more in touch with it's customers would not recommend it for people who have difficult in walking.

Wonderful Hotel. I stayed in room 12. Beds are extremely comfortable, didn't want to get out lol They are having room refurbishment, mine was to be done, but saying that it was still very good. The food menu was great lots of choice, would say definitely something for everyone. Will come back again.

Always love this place. The rooms are a good standard and clean. The food is great and plentiful, the highlight being the breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would always recommend.

First time here but wont be the last lovely settings and vast menu to view had a lovely meal with my partner and my son and girlfriend give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Pleasantly surprised tonight at a place I must of past 100's of times but never visited. Busy and bigger than I expected. A little wait to be fed with due to the busy atmosphere. Had the fish and chips which was a large potion and very nice. Her thats always hungry had the chicken stuffed with haggis and that got the tumbs up too! Staff were all friendly & attentive. Worth a visit.

Definitely worth a visit if you live in the area or your in the area or you just want to try some were different. Tried several different meals and each one has been perfect, we have never waited long to order or for meals coming.

Food is consistently tasty and good value for money. Finding a seat has never been an issue, and a quiet one at that. Service is prompt once youve ordered at the bar. This is NOT one of those pubs where you go in finding 99% of tables are reserved yet empy for the duration of your visit.

I visited with looking forward to a good meal what I got was as far away from that as could be. There was five adults and two of the meals were left could not eat the others left all the chips on their plates. No one came over during the meal. Eventually I was asked about the meals and offered free afters. We should have been refunded for two meals. Never go again and could not recommend anyone go.

Nice rooms and shower. Lovely quaint bar area. Staff nice and helpful. Quite difficult to find, it is down a narrow country lane which is in very poor condition. Don't use postcode or you end up in a housing estate looking at the hotel through people's private gardens. I found it eventually using the direction link on the Google directory page for the hotel. It did try to take me through a fishery but drive past that for the next left which is sign posted.

Went here for food, not to stay in the hotel. Food is very nice and get big portions. Staff were friendly. The place has a old cosy cottage feel.

My stay at the bowes incline hotel was fantastic. A very warm welcome awaited me on arrival, rooms were very clean comfortable and well worth the money. The food was absolutely excellent with a massive menu to choose from. All the staff were very polite and efficient I can highly recommend the bowes incline to anyone.

As always a very warm welcome from the staff and once again first class food. Been here many times now and never been disappointed.

Food was really nice and good portions. However, inside could do with a renovation and its also a bit annoying that drinks do not get served to tables… only food : (Service was ok but the staff seemed a bit stressed, understaffed I gathered. Do the place up with no expense spared, get some good management and a modern marketing team… bobs your uncle.

Our first visit was a delight. The pub has a warm cozy rustic feel to it and was somewhere I felt I could visit casually with friends and family or could go a bit dressy on a special occasion and have a romantic meal. The food was freshly cooked to order with plenty of choice plus specials with the portion size being very generous for the reasonable prices. We will definitely be visiting again.

Had another lovely meal at the Bowes on Christmas Eve Eve! We always end up here when we have a craving for real homemade chips. Mixed grill for me and mussels for Mrs F. We've never had anything other than a lovely meal here. See you all soon!

Excellent food just a bit strange that food orders were taken at different times (this may have been due to some of our party pre-ordering from the festive menu) however all staff were brilliant and looked after is very well.

Nice pub, but ordered the cheese, onion and potato pie and it was actually just mashed potato in pastry. It was so dry my mouth almost stuck together. It didn't come with gravy or any kind of sauce either. Eventually asked for some gravy, but had to wait ages for them to make it. Also my partner had mushroom stroganoff which had a funny taste.

Been a few times and I have always enjoyed the food. The staff are always willing to be helpful and are up for a giggle!

To be totally honest if I could give 0 stars for this place I would! Right from the start we walked in and was waiting 5 minutes to be seated. The staff were very rude and never smiled once. We all got the carvery and every thing was dry and just generally not nice. We then decided to try the desert. Two of us got the sundae which turned out to be nothing but chocolate ice which isn't what I wanted at all. When brought to the attention of the waiting staff we got even more attitude and more fowl looks from them which only pissed us off even more. It was £54 for the total bill for 3 of us and was definitely not worth the money we paid!

Eat here once a month. Very consistent Very good food. Good value FOR money. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Food was good, if a little pricey. Stellar meals for £10-20 quid. Hot sharer for £15 was enough for two so good value compared to other meals.

I travel to Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham at least 6 times a year and have always stayed here. The food it always 1st class and value for money. The rooms are always clean fresh and welcoming. I have no hesitation in recommending the Bowes and giving it 5 stars.

Good food. Nice atmosphere, staff very welcoming. First time visitor with a table for nine. If you're not from the area it's a little difficult to find in the dark but overall well worth a visit.

Excellent 4 night stay — room & bathroom pristine, and the staff were extremely helpful at all times. Food was generous in size and generally well cooked, in fact quite difficult to ask for and get a "small" portion of anything! Had a fantastic beef & ale pie, which was delicious, but was disappointed with the vegetables that came with it — they were barely cooked, more a "shade off raw", but the pie did offset that small criticism. I would certainly recommend the Bowes Incline Hotel as a good value for money stay — and would most certainly come again.

Food very disappointing for the price. £15 for a main course and it's standard fair. The Mill House is one mile down the road with better food and a better prices. I've never seen a menu so big. It makes me think there is no way that a chef can cook all these types of meal with care and attention. Strip back the menu and drop the prices a little. That said, the staff are good and it's a lovely atmosphere.

Nothing on the menu for less than £10 aside from kids meals and starter's. Wasn't even high quality ingredients to justify the price, just a standard pub meal for double the usual price.

Came with a coach. Staff were great and helpful when I needed things for coach. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Meals were excellent. Value for money and easy to find. Keep up the good work. Would use again.
