The reception is beautiful. And I was excited to go to our room. It fell right down hill from there. Was disappointed we were out in the chalet area and not the main part of the hotel as didnt feel a part of it as much but it wasnt a problem… BUT the room was grubby dread to think what the stains are on the bottom bed panel. Dead insect marks from previous people we assume as had to share the bathroom a few times with the bugs! Dirty shower curtain. Dirty bathroom floor. We didnt use the bath or shower. Stains on headboard quite noticable from previous people. Cleaner did come in as we saw the pizza boxes had been taken but didnt clear the bins, make the bed or do anything else. Strange. Didnt feel clean being in there, then to top it off we noticed the chalet door was open all night and saw all the bedsheets dumped on the floor where bugs go in and around the toilet. Not very pleasant to know that.

We’ve just eaten here in the restaurant and the food and service was genuinely great. I have heard such bad reports about the food but it was honestly stunning.

The room was very spacious but rather dated and looked tired, few little issues but it was clean and knowing they are in the process of updating rooms we could overlook the above.
Spa area was very clean and we very much enjoyed the facilities, though the shower area could do with updating.
The garden areas are lovely and secluded but again when we visited, certainly needed a gardeners touch.
Finally all the staff we met were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Good luck to the manager and his team and I hope to be able to visit again.

Refurb the refurbed rooms, Fix smashed broken glass windows and doors and patio doors, Keep the Bar open not go home at 10 o clock because of only 2 people in the bar, Have some bottles of water as there was NO drinks once the bar shut early and make sure all rooms have enough Toilet rolls.

Amazing place and staff, would highly recommend it!

Have been here many times, very relaxing and great food. We are very fussy and they do accommodate for us.
Great nights sleep in very comfy beds.
Staff very nice.
Massages are great, makes you so relaxed.
Facilities are great, nice pool and jacuzzi.

A bit old and tired, especially in the rooms. The health club is much better. Nice big pool, sauna, steam room. Treatments available as well, I had a pedicure and the staff were excellent. Reasonably priced as well. The food was alright in the evening, but there was only one veggie option and two fish out of seven options. Completely different food to that on the website. Breakfast was much better and the staff superb. Wouldn't stay again.

We've been visiting Belstead Brook Hotel between Christmas and New Year for the last 6 years. It used to be a real delight with superb fine dining and a welcoming reception area with furniture in-keeping with the period of the property and friendly, attentive, local staff. Since Muthu have taken this hotel over, standards have dropped massively, particularly in the restaurant, the food is of a very poor standard. The reception furnishings have to be seen to be believed! Garish blinged ornate pseudo Raj — utterly at odds with the building. Receptionist Nadia was utterly unprofessional, disaffected, disinterested and down right rude — she sets the scene for your stay at Belstead Brook perfectly! It's such a shame that this promising hotel has plunged to such depths.

Please for the love of God teach the cook what a blue steak is. I'm here every week and he burns it dry no matter how much I return it or beg the staff. My TV worked for once this week which was nice. Next time I'm hoping for batteries in the remote. Optimistically awaiting the day they include me in the breakfast list I'm supposed to be on daily. I live in hope.

Never stay here again! Absolutely appalling attitude from reception staff. When reception wouldn't deal with my complaint after waiting an hour, I asked to see the manager at 10pm and was told he was sleeping and couldn't be disturbed! He should be so lucky. Stood my ground and saw the manager. Issue finally resolved by him 1hr and 50 minutes after my complaint. However, should not have happened and now so stressed out, it's unlikely I'll be able to get any sleep at all.

Some lovely antique furniture dotted around. Brilliant Jacuzzi. Rooms are bit dated and could do with an update for the price. We had a good view and small balcony but had to pay extra for it. Rooms quite stuffy and no air con. Which for a so called boutique hotel should be unheard of! Lovely but fattening breakfast in the morning! Staff pleasant and helpful.

Fantastic value for money. Great facilities, very clean and staff were great. Pool and steam room and jacuzzi were fabulous. Restaurant service and food both excellent. Make sure you ask for a refurbished room as older ones not in great condition.

On arrival to this lovely hotel was greeted by a not so lovely receptionist who couldn’t even be bothered to smile, its a shame really because receptionist set the scene. On receiving our room key we found we had a lovely room but very hot and stuffy. The room had no air con but did provide a fan which we had to leave on constantly, it only made a slight difference the room was still so unbearably hot. The room however did have tea/coffee facilities a hairdryer and a safe which was very handy. The Restaurant was very nicely set out and decor lovely, food was nice and service in the first night was excellent, the second night not so good and we waited along time for our food. We were told only 3 staff on and you could see they were rushed off their feet. Breakfast was buffet style and was very nice.
The spa was lovely and even had sun chairs outside to lay on which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel was set in beautiful surroundings and it was lovely to sit outside in the sun but nothing to walk to nearby. We walked into Ipswich which took about and hour and really wasn’t worth it as a lot of shops were shut on Sunday. All in all a pleasant stay.

On first impressions it looks like a reasonably nice looking hotel. Once you get past reception you start to notice how tired and run down it is. Our room was really bad. We had a family room where there was a shower room and a bathroom. The shower was disgusting, mouldly black grout, grime in every corner, dirty looking shower curtain and no shower gel! … What sort of hotel doesn't provide shower gel! A cheap bit of soap is all u get! The main room lights didn't work and the beds need replacing. Ours dipped on one side and the kids bed felt cheap and lumpy The bathroom was the worst part, dirt in every corner, thick dust on the dated dado rail, mould all over the grout on the wall and floor tiles, peeling paint and wall paper… This room was supposed to be £100 a night! I have stayed in cleaner, better kept hostels! I refused to pay the full charge I paid half as breakfast was quite nice! Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

One night weekend spa break with friends. Excellent value for money. Delicious food, clean and spacious room, friendly and helpful staff and everything you would need for a relaxing weekend. Would definitely recommend and plan to visit again.

Overly impressed. Booked through groupon for a 1 night stay, 3 course meal, breakfast and spa access. Food was literally some of the best I’ve ever eaten, spa has everything you need and the bar catered for all my and my partners needs. The staff are so nice, polite and helpful. Very happy indeed.

This hotel is amazing for the price. I loved all the completely over the top Indian Raj style furnishings which fill the hotel. My bedroom and bathroom were clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The decor was dated but charming nevertheless. The breakfast was very tasty though the staff were over familiar and quite noisy. Still, a great experience overall and I would definitely come back.

Excellent value. We just stayed here for two days and couldn't understand why this place is only a 3 star hotel, it was far better than many 4 star hotels I have stayed in. The facilities are excellent especially the swimming pool and the catering as well as the hospitality was outstanding. The catering staff went out of their way to meet specific dietary requirements. We booked directly with the hotel to take advantage of one of their offers, which turned out to be excellent value. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice place, peaceful but quirky, strange furniture. Terence as usual put the buffffff into buffet breakfast, stuffed now. Not sure the waitress should be calling me darling though, probably impressed by my capacity.

It is getting a bit shabby and the maintenance budget looks non existent. The decor is out of keeping with the hotel with plastic statues and the most ghastly reception area you will ever see. However I absolutely love staying there, I must as I have stayed 15 times over the years. It is down to the staff and spa. If you are narrow minded then stay away. If you can see passed the decor, you can relax here. PS it has the best Spa bath you will find anywhere.

OK visit. Some staff superb. Some actually quite rude. Waiters had a row in kitchen for all to hear. Forgot to put half the items on the main course plate. Steam room not working and spa quite cold. Wouldn't visit again.

Excellent staff and centre service with a very clean appearance at the front. The pool facilities were well kept. I like the classic decor of the main hotel area that gives it a grand feeling. Rooms spacious and well equipped with all the expected details (TV, lamps Bath and shower available). The morning breakfast was a combination of a buffet for a full English breakfast and a smaller array of Continental and cereals too. Nice coffee and attentive staff in the restaurant. Close to Ipswich for a night out or in depending on requirements. Well recommended.

Lovely old hotel with excellent pool. Parts of it date back to the Tudor period, including the restaurant. The food and service were good, especially the breakfast. The room was large and very comfortable. The hotel is being revamped, the new parts are a bit too rococo. Stunning price of only £54, so no-brainer recommended.

We visited over Christmas 2017, so that's probably why they seemed understaffed, but it's not a great excuse. Breakfast is served until 0930, but they were out of coffee by 0900 and had to be asked to refill it. Similarly the breakfast buffet was low and had people waiting for particular items. Also, that seems really early to end breakfast service over the holidays. Our room was comfortable but dated, with a shower that was only OK. We apparently missed the one chance for room cleaning for the day by using the DND sign until 1030. I don't think anyone checked it has been done for the rest of the day. This isn't the luxury hotel it portrays itself as, but it isn't awful. You do get a hilariously tacky portrait of the owner over the front desk, so it's worth a peek.

Very nice hotel. We had a garden Room which is in need of modernisation but was very comfortable. They are in the process of renovating the rooms. The food served in the bar and restaurant was very good. The leisure facilities are very good. Towels are provided for the pool. There are spa services available for an extra cost.

Went to a wedding there. The function rooms are very nice. Good selection of food. Wonderful grounds. The room we stayed in was nice. Spacious and a comfortable bed.

Brilliant place, staff nice and friendly. Just needs some love and care but is a big place (Will take ages to redecorate). Loved our stay.

I have never left a review before but feel I need to. I walked up to the hotel from parking and instantly knew I was in luxury. The main reception area is stunning. The staff were helpful from the off. The room was more than adequate for a 3* hotel, the restaurant was so welcoming and the waiters and waitresses were always on hand. The food was reasonably priced, but the quality and quantity made it worth it. The buffet breakfast was equally as good. We had bar food the second night and it was almost as if we was eating restaurant quality food off a bar menu. The drinks were a bit expensive but what do you expect in any hotel, the bar area was very spacious. The pool area was something else. It felt like I was abroad with the steam room, sauna, spa and the loungers to relax. It is a nice quiet resort, beautiful scenery. Although they cater for kids I think its more adult friendly which is why I chose there. I think for the price I paid I got double the service. Great place and I will be going back. Well done all the staff. 5

I was here to use the gym and spa for the afternoon. It was clean and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The gym are was a little small, only having two treadmills and one bike. The pool is a good size and there is a sauna, jacuzzi and a steam room.

Impressive reception desk. Leisure area has a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms. Our romm was quite cramped but that is only a frivolous point. Would definitely recommend for parties and events.

The Hotel was chosen as the venue for my Daughters Wedding in September this year. The planning of the wedding was assisted by the very talented Vicky. The layout of the venue was great with gentle lighting included. The planned Bar-B-Q on the lawn had to be turned into an inside feature as the weather decided to change late in the afternoon, however, this was managed exceptionally well by the catering team at the Hotel. The house disco was used for the night celebration and this was first class. The event was managed throughout with great professionalism by the whole team. All in all we could not fault the whole days celebration from the Marriage in the afternoon to the Last Dance in the evening.

Very dated hotel. The room was clean but the shower was hanging off the wall! The staff was pleasant, and the gym well stocked. Not bad for a single night don't think I could have stayed longer.

This may be a 3 star hotel but it has the feel of 4 or even 5. Last night we enjoyed the indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and spa all included in room price. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly without losing their professionalism. Laolla gave me a lovely manicure and Adam who arranged it all was really lovely. Thank you so much we left after 8 nights feeling very relaxed and happy. Good value for money.

We had our wedding at the Belstead and it was amazing. Perfect settting, the staff were brilliant and attended to everything. Vicki, Angela and their team did a really good job of organising and making everything run smoothly throughout the day, we can't thank them enough. The food was delicious and the buffet breakfast the next day was spot on. Drinks and pub grub was also reasonably priced and tasty. Jacuzzi / Steam Room and Pool were lovely and much needed after the wedding. Overall had a perfect wedding at a reasonable price! Highly recommended and will visit again soon. Thank you! Weekend spa break celebrating a 40th birthday. A fantastic weekend was had by all (14 girls). Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were excellent (even though the sauna was out of action). Food was delicious and plentiful. Great value for money and I would definitely recommend this hotel break.

I stayed at this hotel as an overnight guest. There were renovations going on in the lobby, but these did not affect my stay very much. The local area is nice enough, and the rooms were sizable, if a little dated. Breakfast was about average, but reasonably priced.

Attended a wedding. Very nice venue, the groom's loved the day and the location and aesthetics were great.

Fantastic room, very unusual shape but it added to the charm. Only complaint is that we left in the morning of our first night and forgot to turn the radiator down from full as it was a cold morning. Returned in the evening and the radiator was still on full. A little bit of common sense would have been nice from the maids service.

Room is acceptable. Paint is peeling in lots of places, radiator is very noisy. Lots of things laid out in very odd way. Table has split at the edges. Window is very small. Effectively no daylight. Decor is very old theme. Bathroom is functional but not very nice. Overall, very unimpressed with the room. Will not be staying here again.

Plenty of parking, well sign posted. Well decorated and good conference facilities. Lack of espresso machine.

Went to event about two years ago, all went well. l must agree with other reviews, decor could do with a update. also enjoyed a coffee in bar. pleasant location, would go as far to say idyllic.

I booked this hotel expecting a country retreat spa hotel… Should have done my research! It's in the middle of a housing estate and decorated like an elderly persons care home. I felt awful that I had booked this as a quick getaway for the night for my partner and I so we made our excuses and didn't even stay the night. Nice pool with jacuzzi, but the rest of the place had ZERO atmosphere.

Great venue for events and training, friendly team who go out of their way to help.
