We had afternoon tea which was beautiful. Really enjoyed it and took a doggie bag home. The lady that served our tea was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend it.

We recently stayed here for 2x nights with our Akita Bear. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and made us feel so welcome (especially Bear). Breakfast was lovely — even Bear got sausages! The rooms are spacious and the location is perfect, right on the trail, we will definitely be back again.

My wife and I arrived around 5:30, Fri 30th Aug. Ian on reception booked us in no problem, to a spacious, lovely room.
Had a great evening meal, cooked by their amazing top chef, Baz whose attention to detail is unparalled with any other restaurant I've been in. His meal was a work of art and tasted fantastic. The hotel itself is right on the Tissington trail, set in the Derbyshire countryside between Ashbourne and Bakewell.
Breakfast equally good, plenty of choice then a full English served up by the lovely Karen.
Well recommended.

Myself, my fiancé and dog stayed for 1 night and was pleasantly surprised by being given an apartment, for the price we paid too the service was amazing too, for breakfast they even offered my dog sausages!
If we return to the peak district we will definitely return here! Thank you.

Superb location. We had a lovely walk on the Tissington Trail (just outside the hotel gate), followed by a wonderful afternoon tea. Excellent setvice and food, and yummy goodies to bring home too. Thank you Newton House.

Fantastic service and quality bedrooms I had no problems with anything and the garden was beautiful.

We have just had a weekend here with my mum, the first since my dad passed away recently.
She is disabled so needed disabled facilities.
This place was amazing! She had everything she needed. Was warm and comfortable.
The food is amazing and staff friendly. And the hotel is clean and spacious.
I would recommend Newton House to anyone and will definitely be back.

I'm giving this 3* because it has the potential of being a really cracking venue. On our visit however it fell short. A party of 3 we were cycling the nearby Tissington Trail and we called in mid-Saturday afternoon. The service wasn't over friendly and the teacake & scones that we ordered could have been better. A shame, this could be a goldmine.

This B&B was pretty good. There are tons of trails around the area to walk or ride a bicycle. The location is decent, but its location is a little precarious. If you are driving a car be careful. The road coming out of the location is a pain. Also, because of the location, you will hear all of the traffic. Both nights I stayed there I was woken up by loud vehicles driving down the road. The rooms are Farley large, especially for the area. The downside is that the rooms are warm… really really warm. And the rooms don’t have fans. The beds were decent sized as well, so that’s a bonus. There was room service and it was really good. They took are trash and remade the bed and put our stuff in the same place they found it. The breakfast options were amazing. A full area for toast and coffee and you could order a full English breakfast. The best part was that it was included. If you are looking to get outside of the cities, then I would recommend this location. Otherwise, I would find something in town.

Pleasant hotel, room was OK and comfortable. Right on the Tissington Trail and only a 1 mile walk to the top of Dovedale and the dales above, which are well worth a visit. They were not doing evening meals when we were there as the chef was ill — which was disapointing. Would have thought they could have put something on, such as a cold buffet, to save guests having to drive elswhere. Hence the loss of a star.

Lovely cosy hotel, the staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were great! Only small issue we had was that a few of the doorways were only about 5' 6" high and my partner being 6'4" did knock his head a couple of times despite reminders. But when you're tired…

Had a 2 night stay at Newton House Hotel. We had a very large, clean and comfy room overlooking the garden. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there was a good selection of food at breakfast. What’s not to like. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Had a lovely 2 night stay here. The room was massive for a double. They gutted an extra bed and a cot in for our children and there was still room in there. Having read other reviews before was worried about the hotel. The hotel is nice and the service from the staff was excellent and friendly. It is not a 5 star hotel but you are not paying for that! Lovely location in a nice part of the country. Would stay here again.

Nice place to relax. Good ambience. The building is old built — creaking floors and low ceilings. Good for spring-summer break for couple of days. Great drives around. Hotel itself is in secluded place — not much options to eat out other than Restaurant within the hotel — which are good. They serve typical British afternoon tea as well — with quite variety of choices. Bathrooms are very small. There is parking space. The photo given is the outside view from the room!

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights with dinner on the first night and breakfast each morning. The staff were friendly and customer focussed. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We enjoyed the food which was served promptly, but it was nothing special! The hotel is in a great location with scenic views and a bonus of actually being on the Tissington Trail.

A great place to say with our dog. We enjoyed the evening meal and were delighted to find the hotel was actually on the Tissington trail and we had a lovely walk, leaving our car in the hotel car park.

Lovely, straight forward, clean rooms. The breakfasts were pretty good too, served by lovely staff, and with a decent bar, too. Overall, a comfortable, affordable stay.

Nice place and staff. Our room was very comfortable, only complaint would be no hot or even warm water in the morning for a shower. The breakfast was good. Overall good value.

Lovely stay. Food 1st class. Room very good unfortunately very cold but a small heater available by request.

We have stayed here on several occasions. Great facilities and good food and service for a reasonable price. Great location too.

November '17 Nice overnight stay here on a cold November night. Hotel not very busy, although 'full'. Not the warmest place we've stayed at! Nice dining room, although a bit of a limited menu. Food OK. Fantastic scenery.

Very nice Hotel in the Peak District. I met up with a group of Ramblers. The hotel staff were VERY helpful. The food was, my opinion very good. I felt full just to look at the amount you received.! It's well worth a visit in MY OPINION. Go on, Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Friendly welcome big rooms comfy bed. Nice evening meal with reasonable price bottle of wine. Great choice for breakfast at our pace. Would definitely recommend.

We were driving around looking for food but everywhere was full. We then drove past Newton House and decided to take a look at the menu. We would not usually do this as Hotel prices are inflated but to our surprise the price was no different to a pub meal. The place was not very busy when we went in but more did come. The staff were very nice and then the food come and we were very impressed. Its not very often I feel I have had value for money when I have eaten out but on this occasion I was very happy to pay and with be returning with family and friends. I hope the next time is as good as the first!

Birthday treat for me. Room with a four poster bed. Bed really comfortable and the room is cosy. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Going to explore Castleton tomorrow. We found this hotel ideally located for our stay in the white peaks. It is only a short step from the awesome scenery of the Dove, Mildale and the Tissington trail runs close by the rear of the premises. We found the accommodation adequate but not outstanding. The building provides quiet accommodation and we found that we were able to come and go as we chose. The staff was accommodating and cheerful. They are clearly employed from the local community and this gives the impression of 'rootedness' in the environment. You get what you need which more standardised premises may not provide. We had to wait for the hot water to arrive at the tap and the electric shower unit noisy but these are niggles, not the product of complaint.

Was a lovely experience forgot what the peak District was like will go back wan weathers better. Good accommodation clean and all the staff were excellent many thanks. X my rating for this guest house 8/10

Booked an afternoon tea, belated Mothers Day treat for my lovely Mum in law. This went beyond expectation for the price! Food was delicious, service fab and a lovely view of the gardens to boot! Will definitely book again!

Awesome room four-poster bed was a bonus staff friendly and helpful. Shame only five stars would have given more.

Warm and pleasant stop on the Tissington Trail with a hotel and Tea Room but be aware Tea room only open Wednesday to Sunday. Not much outdoor seating. Chickens in the garden. Can access the back of Newton House straight from the Trail. Looked a bit unimpressed with my dishevelled appearance and signs about not bringing mud inside, so maybe avoid if it's been a hard wet ride.

Hotel is comfortable staff friendly, rooms good. The down side is NO FOOD on Sunday evening, which we were not aware of until we had had a drink, i. E. Could not drive to get a meal elsewhere. Not to be caught out again we had cooked lunch on Monday in Leek and hoped for light snack back at hotel in evening, only to find they don t do bar food or snacks in evening. Breakfast good which is just as well cos we were ready for it.

Hotel location was in the country, about 3 miles out if Ashbourne. Would need to drive if wanting to go into Ashbourne in an evening. We unfortunately had no hot water for a shower which was a shame. Basic hotel but did the job.

Room was very dated, wall paper hanging off the wall under window, shower broken tiles and black spots around shower tray. Cheap mattress. Writing table but no chair.

In my mind the receptionist was very rude. I gave her my name. She told us we still owed money. Even though we had already paid 2 weeks before. When I booked I told her 2 of my party where Glutain free. She said I only booked 1 Glutain free person. Then she said I'm not going to argue with you. I'll tell the chef and see what we can do. What they did was gave my 2 Glutain free party was half as much tea.

Very warm welcome and lovely staff. We stayed in room 10 and the view was lovely. Admittedly the hair dryer was a bit dated but still worked fine never the less. We unfortunately heard stomping from upstairs but it wasn't throughout the night and my god I had the best night sleep ever after the walk through the garden to the nature trail walk. Thank you for a lovely stay and the super breakfast! 10 stars for the staff.

Stayed 2 nights was a lovely B&B staff were fantastic very welcoming. Rooms are basic but clean. Needs abit of tlc but over all very nice stay.

Great B&B in the heart of the Peak District.

Basically a was walking aroond the corner with worlass and a saw this mansion and a thought to meself wellaye therell be plenty of rich mutha****** there, so a thought might aswell bounce in and gan on a mission. A thought might aswell chill here and grab meself a beef sarnie while am figuring out how to rob these generous people. On my stay here me and worlass saw sheeps on roids and horses mysteriously standing on 2 legs behind cows. The rooms were spacious and me and worlass were vucking away without making too much noise and wen we woke up we watched a bit of eastenders. They had Wi-Fi so a cud talk to the lads back in scotchy my lovely residential area. The receptionist was very kind and helped me by allowing me to hide round the corner and wait for some gadgey to walk oast and jump him and take his money. All in all me and worlass had a wicked experience.

Never stay again. Looked like an old peoples home, needs updating. Room 20 shower about to explode. Someone watches while you are getting breakfast. Property needs updating, No bar, no restaurant. Clean sheets, but not cleaned/tidied in the day. Looks nothing like the photo. Grumpy receptionist. Non communicative. No room service, no shower gel etc. Depressing cold, smells of manure from farm next door. Couldnt wait to leave.

We stayed Friday to Sunday and had a great time. A different kind of break as there are no two the same. We had room 34 in the barn and it was spacious, warm and confortable just what you need. The continental breakfast was ideal to start the day. Right on the Tissington Trail at Allsop, a good base and had a nice walk to Milldale. Would recommend the Bluebell pub just down the road for a great meal and really enjoyed the Tissington Pie :) Just try it.

Excellent location for the Tissington Trail — good for walking and bikes. Some great local pubs — not cheap but good food and real ales — dont think Newton House does it's own food apart from breakfast which was help yourself to as much as you want. Facilities very good — nice big room, clean and comfortable, everything worked! Will definately return…
