@monksmotorhomeshire stumbled across the halfway house inn, what an idilic place, such a warm welcome from the owners really friendly. You guys are doing something amazing here offering FREE over night parking for motorhome owners! With a small charge for Electric. The pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and dog friendly Monk the Great Dane got a treat from behind the bar we will definitely be stopping here again. If your ever in the area of chilthorne Nr Yeovil please call in and say hi to these lovely people.

Hi I took 50 people on a weekend to Weymouth we stop at the halfway house for lunch and for there lunch on Sunday both times the management and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Menu is fantastic some real one of creations that tasted amazing, all served by a great team of friendly people, would recommend coming here, I’ll certainly be returning.

Very good breakfast. Ideal set up for your pet dog. Had a garden overlooking the fishing lake. Great views. Second time there will go again. Coco dog loves Ang. She’s her favourite lady as she saves the odd sausage for her.

Had the most fantastic afternoon here today. Meant to stop for a quick drink and see if we could spot an odd plane as it’s Yeovilton Air Day. Ended up staying three hours with the best view from the garden.
The garden around the lake is stunning, lovely little flock of Canada Geese living on it and other birds and insects too. There’s a few water lilies which we will come back and photograph or maybe paint.
We ended up having lunch too, and it was splendid honest pub grub. Generous portions, reasonable prices, and good quality ingredients. We can most highly recommend the cod and chips, and the ham/egg/chips came with two huge slabs of proper farmhouse style meat. The chips were tops, my son adored them because they were extra chunky — like railway sleepers!
Can’t believe we live so close and never came before, definitely going to be back!

Had my mums suprise 60th birthday party hear and it was amazing lovely food, amazing staff, lovely surroundings and good value for money!

Stayed here for two days in a dog friendly room with my partner and dog came down to visit my grandad in hospital and we were surprised at how nice the room was when we got shown in by a member of staff small but spacious garden to the rear with a gate leading out to the lake which was ideal to walk my dog around lovely at night to sit out and have a few drinks in the garden beautiful views and the food is very nice and staff are lovely dogs are also welcome in the pub and whilst having our breakfast they were kind enough to cook a sausage for my dog whilst we eat our breakfast will definitely be staying here again in the near future!

Stayed here for work, fantastic little place, staff are friendly, hotel is clean and tidy, with a beautiful view to the rear… Really considering coming back with my wife and son. It's a little gem…

Quirky place good value ideal for families and dog friendly.

So pleased with our one night booking. Totally dog friendly in both the accommodation and the bar. A stunning lake to walk around and the food is just fantastic. Staff very helpful and friendly. The room could do with a little refurbishment but for £72 a night including breakfast you really cannot complain.

Great place, near Yeovil. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and excellent food. Sunday carvery is not to be missed. Their chef is amazing. Give the place a try.

Ok if you want to eat but don't bother staying! New rooms but complete lack of maintenance. Had to change rooms cos of leaking bath. Flòor rotten and uneven. Moved to a room with no grout in the tiles and a hot tap that wasn't fixed. Owners put tape over the floor and let the room to someone else.

Staff are friendly the rooms are clean and tidy with TV and tea making things breakfast is very good food is good and reasonably priced I enjoyed my stay will go back again.

This place has the potential to be lovely, but feels and looks neglected. Our room, rooms where hit and miss while the bathroom and bedroom areas where fine the lounge needed to be rethought as well as replacing the very uncomfortable bed settee? And the one wicker chair plus what was going on with the totally empty, unfurnished conservatory? Except for the woodlice who seemed to like it. As for the food breakfast was great, evening bad experience. Staff very welcoming and friendly.

Good location staff very friendly good beers and wines food is good and you get plenty on the plate and reasonably priced the rooms are tidy and clean with with TV and tea making things breakfast is very good with a variety of choices all in all good value.

Lovely views, lovely building and nice staff.
However they clearly hadn't cleaned thoroughly the bed was made but filthy, towels were filthy, the shower didnt work and the chipboard floor in the bathroom and main room had rotten and sunk through. There was also, dispite the loo seat having a "freshly cleaned" sash around it to show the room had been cleaned; sombody else before me's hair and half used shower gel in the bath. … I didnt want to give the complimentary breakfast a go after the state of the room. Thankfully it was just the one night and I can claim the price back with work.

Great place to stay when visiting the west country very well priced and includes cooked breakfast which is excellent will defiantly be back.

We booked online and noticed that we will be late and when we arrived nobody was there. And they didn't email us that we couldn't sleep there. Shame on them.

Couldn't fault the friendly bar staff and a great buffet. The venue is clean and tidy but it lacks a bit of character.

Appartments out back look nice from outside but once your inside you'll wish you should have booked somewhere else. Really disappointed with this wooden floor is all split paint on the ceiling is peeling off and beds and bedding looks like something from a prison. And spider webs in the ventilation.

Fairly stereotypical "Inn", or "pub with some rooms", but with a few distinctive features such as chalet/cottage style family rooms (we were in room 8 which had an upstairs bedroom and conservatory! ), a large pond at the back of the car park etc. Water pressure was decent, food was average, staff were helpful but disorganised. Would probably stay again if in yeovil and looking for somewhere cheap.

We stopped off at the Halfway House Hotel with 100 other Solihull Moors supporters en route to our FA Cup game with Yeovil Town. Our pints, preordered, were ready and topped up upon our arrival and we enjoyed a lovely lunch of sausage and chips laid on by the staff. A lovely spot with some great beers, coders and a lovely cup of tea! Highly recommended!

Went to a relative's birthday held here. Nice pub with a bit if character, not a great selection of beer, however. Only one ale on tap.

Prior to check-in we had requested a travel cot. When we arrived they had obviously forgotten. We did get one but we had to wait a while… Our room was u controllably too hot. We turned both radiators off and opened the windows but to no avail. Consequently we were up all night because our baby was too hot and wouldnt settle. In the morning we had no hot water followed by no water at all because Wessex water turned off the water to the hotel and surrounding buildings. We had no warning and nobody could tell us why on check-out. The cooked breakfast was very limited. No ceral bowls were put out, bread and orange juice were not replentished. As for the cooked breakfast the sausages were blatently re-heated and were puny. I asked for no mushrooms on my cooked breakfast but I got them anyway… On check-out we were overcharged but we got that sorted promptly. On the positive the staff were friendly and the beds were very comfy.

We stayed there for two nights and it was an amazing stay. The lady at the reception was very welcoming and Angus was very helpful in sorting our trip to Durdle Door, and not to mention, the breakfast was very filling and amazing. Will definitely visit again.

Is a very good pub for skittle him fishing and family meals.

On my last visit — on the good side the Old Hooky (the only ale) was 10/10, as were the staff. The ambience was good, with a nice seating area with comfortable leather chairs — spoiled only by the seriously chav clientele complete with their own acrid smell of smoke. We had been led to believe that the food portions here were very large and, judging by the very high cost they should have been. My curry, listed as medium hot, was seriously bland and the portion was seriously small. We eat out two or three times every week and this is the only time I've gone home and had a pasty and half a packet of biscuits because I was still so hungry! All in all — 3/10 if only for the Old Hooky and the staff. Will we be back? — certainly not. Well below average.
