Sunday lunch, three courses, food absolutely first class, some of the best roast beef I've ever eaten, well done to all concerned especially Chef Adam Gerrish.

Such a great, friendly pub. They went out of their way to satisfy our ploughman’s craving, even though it wasn’t on the lunch menu. It was delicious, and when we next travel up from Southampton we will definitely call in again.

They have removed my friends review so I'll paste it here.
Also just to say that I'm the friend she's on about. Their attitude towards customers is disgusting. They have no respect for people who are grieving and to physically call the funeral directors the day after a funeral instead of emailing me yourself or calling me is absolutely bloody vile. You really should be ashamed. my friends review which you so callously removed: Absolutely appalling place. A friend of mine contacted them regarding a wake. They called her up and said they didn't have availability and then proceeded to reply to an email that was also sent saying they did have availability. They obviously didn't realise it was the same person and wanted more money from her as my friends email stated she wanted it for 30 guests and my friends sister said for around 20 when she called them as they hadn't worked out how many guests would be there at that point. They also told her that a basic buffet was £15 per head! After reducing the amount of food we wanted from the buffet menu,, it totalled at £9 a head which we didn't mind. So after confirming they did actually have availability after lying over the phone because they thought I was someone else, they ignored my email confirming the time of the wake and did not contact her regarding payment so by this point, my friend emailed and cancelled.

They went above & beyond & served us a fabulous breakfast this morning as my friend & I were on our way to a Spa day & wanted a breakfast on route.

Amazing place, driven past soooo many times but this was our first visit. Lovely tasty food, well priced and beautifully presented. Would recommend to everyone! Ken keep up the hard work you are doing a grand job!

Just enjoyed our festive Sunday lunch! Food was lovely and the staff are always so friendly! We really enjoy coming here after moving to the area last year! New fave local for sure xx.

We have just squeezed a great mini break at Thatched Cottage for 4 nights. Despite the dreaded COVID19 we always felt safe & the staff were great — super helpful & friendly. We will be back.

We’ve been twice whilst on holiday, great staff lovely food, and would recommend the Mackerel Terrine, so tasty.

Stopped in with a friend for some food this afternoon, never been in before but my god it was amazing! Quick service and the food was to die for.

Weekend stay, staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was great!. Rooms are a little tired, but it's an old building. Overall clean, friendly, good price, great base for a weekend getaway or short break.

Such a shame as used to enjoy coming here but slow service for a second time this weekend has put us off wanting to go back. Sadly very slow with food coming out and wasn't that busy inside, others were complaining also. Food also wasn't up to normal standard.

We have just returned from a wonderful mini break at The Thatched Cottage Inn. The room was clean, tidy, extremely spacious and comfortable. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant with generous portions and everything was freshly cooked. To round off the evening there was a live band playing (The Magic Badgers) who were amazing. Thank you to all of the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We would highly recommended it.

Just had lunch today at The Thatch, food and service excellent, welcoming staff and roaring log fire. I have had bad experiences in the past but on the recommendation of a friend thought I would try again and I am very glad I did. Will definitely be going back.

Clean, tidy and nice welcome. Went in for a drink for the first time. Although there was a private function taking up most of the pub, staff were friendly and made us welcome in the bar.

I use this as a coffee break place whilst journeying. It has a great atmosphere and really friendly staff.

Just called in on the off chance for a Sunday lunch and I must admit it was one of the best I've had from eating out in a long time … well done and reasonably priced.

Love the outdoor space at the back of the pub. Perfect for alfresco dining and drinking in this lovely weather. Staff friendly on two recent visits.

The staff were really really nice, but the food was very greasy, and the seat I sat in was dirty enough that the cushion stuck to my jeans.

Great bar and beautiful surroundings but near a busy crossroads and quite the way out of Shepton. Good for a quiet drink or food.

Generous servings of quite nice food served by friendly staff in a nice venue. The building has interesting features; impressive fireplaces and curious windows and some beams and is dressed out quite tastefully.

Just had a lovely meal at the Thatched cottage, the decor is so lovely in this lovely county pub! Food was fab, we had two roasts, veg lasagne & chicken burger. We were greeted by the lovely Martha, she was so lovely! Happy and bubbly! Also when ordering the chicken burger, my partner asked about the cheese sauce, our waitress Jeanie was so accommodating, she went and got a little for him to try. … Lovely pub, good price too! We will be back again! Martha was 5*!

Had a lovely meal here with my Husband & our friends, food was hot & plenty on the plate, I struggled to finish it all, also the puddings were to die for! We did have to wait about 3/4 for our meal, but we were told this when ordering, as there was a large party there eating too, but this wasn't to much of an issue. Service was good & the staff very helpful. All in all a great night.

Was really looking forward to having a nice meal so decided we would give it a go for Sunday lunch with some friends. Unfortunately we did not enjoy it at all. Firstly we were sat not in the main restaurant but a dark room with about 4 other tables in it which absolutely smelt of damp! It was awful! The service was awful… we were almost forgotten about and had to ask if we could order our food! The waitress seemed like she had her head in the clouds… very not with it. When ordering dessert there was lots to choose from on the menu although the waitress said there was only 2 things we could have as there was hardly anything left… then when we did order we were told they didn't have it! Very strange! All in all a very disappointing visit and we certainly wouldn't return again. After coming home and reading Trip Advisor our experience seemed to mirror those which have already posted on there!

Had an amazing meal with family last night, service, food was brilliant and we didn't break the bank couldn't believe how reasonable it was for a party of seven. Thank you.

My wife and I have eaten here lots of times and the food is always excellent and great value for money. We had a meal for 34 friends and family and it was enjoyed by all.

It took 35 mins to serve the starter which was cold mashed potato on smoked salmon ok it looked fancy, then had gourmet burger which was tasteless and served on a wooden board, cucumber was dry and overall not impressed. The dining area was comfortable and the staff seemed rushed and the place wasn't full.

Very big portions — food was really good! staff are extremely friendly. Venue is great. Would recommend this place.
