Spa side of things very shabby and needs a facelift! Very noisy other side of massage room not a very relaxing experience. Been to better spas.

Rather slow and inattentive service this afternoon!

Had a christmas meal here with my family. And it was the worst service ive ever received. We had to wait 2 hours between starter and main!? The main waitress was very very rude and dismissing when we asked what was happening. Even though the food was good it came cold. It cost £1100 for us but we had to clear our own table!?!?!? One of our party members had food poisoning from the fish too. Absolutely appalled with the whole experience. Do not go here for a meal!

The whole day was so relaxing, the spa is beautiful especially when it’s gets dark and the treatments were completely amazing. Absolutely fantastic day out.

Lovely welcoming staff & surroundings. Went for a friend’s birthday, & we had a treatment at the spa. Also went for a swim & a drink at the bar. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Will never go again! Pool shut, dirty room, slow food service, bad communications, over charged on book out and treatment cancelled on the day. Really excited to stay with my daughter and what a disappointment! Tried to make a complaint, would not answer Facebook messages or emails to the manager. Did not call or email back on feedback form had to chase customer services. Was not happy with their response of a spa day and 25 quid as I paid nearly 300 pound, all I asked for was another £25 voucher as there was two of us and they would not budge. So disappointed… this is a 5 star hotel. Once they have taken your money you will not hear off them.
You will not be able to get hold of anyone if you have any problems. On checkout they had a lots of customers complaining about the poor customer service and dirty rooms but did not seem to care. Go to a hotel which really vaules their customers. I bet Duncan would not put up with such bad value for money.

Lovely welcoming staff. Food was amazing. Very tasty evening meal and full english breakfast. Our room was in the attic and so lovely. Even though it is a very old place the furniture. Curtains could really do with a bit of TLC loved but very worn. This didn't spoil our stay but would gave improved it.
The spa was amazing we both had a back massage and facial it was by far the best we have had.

Had a lovely time, we stayed in room 18 the hotel is very nice and staff are very friendly and helpful, the only problem is the hotel and rooms need a bit of tlc, lights broken and not working, mismatched cups, DVD player but no dvd, the rooms are for two people but you only get water and biscuits for one person, our room had its own hot tub, flip flops would be a good nice to use when walking from our room to the hot tub not slippers and our room had its own entrance and outside access into the hotel. It rained the hole time we was there so we got socked a umbrella in the room would be great, it was lovely having our own private hot tub and Garden, but I don’t feel it was private enough as we could see the bin man and staff coming and going and there could see us when we was relaxing in the hot tub, I don’t like feather pillows so I didn’t sleep well different types of pillows options would be a good idea, you don’t get a welcome pack or a little note about the hotel, room you are in a meal and how to call room service or even given the number from room service, it would be very nice it you did please overnight we had a lovely stay and definitely we be coming back and staying again.

We have just returned from a wonderful overnight stay. We had Elemis spa treatments, which were excellent. Our room was fabulous with a 4-poster bed — such a treat. We had fillet steak which was sublime and the cocktails were brilliant. The staff were excellent and very attentive throughout and the icing in the cake was how Hannah contacted us to let us know we had left some airpods in the room. She has popped them in the post for us and they should be with us soon. We’d highly recommend staying here ⭐️

We stayed here for the night as a last minute getaway, blown away with the service we received from the moment we walked through the doors. Started with a bite to eat around lunchtime in the bar area. Welcoming staff and lovely food. We then had a few treatments which were amazing and nothing was to much trouble for any of the spa staff. Felt absolutely amazing after. Dinner was on another level. Fillet steak to die for and again amazing service. Massive thanks to Martin the chef for feeding our appetite and to Beni the food and beverage manager for making us feel so welcome from the moment we got there to the minute we left. We shall definitely be returning very soon. Rick and Kailem.

The meal options for vegans is a disgrace. They think unseasoned lightly fried lettuce with mushrooms is a £20 main meal, there wasn’t even any accompanying sauce. Bland tasteless unimaginative and overpriced.

My wife and I got married in the Orangery room at Charlton House. Absolutely amazing day and went far too quick! The manager and Wedding organiser we're great from start to finish! The grounds are beautiful and we loved the bridal suite. Charlton House has it's own Chef and team and you can tell as the food is beautiful. There is also a spa available too, we didn't try it but wish we did! Whether it's a short break your after or looking to get married we highly recommend choosing Charlton House!

Lovely relaxing time, lovely feel to the hotel and the spa was perfect and just what we needed, only thing was it was absolutely boiling in the hotel and we only had a small fan in our room but they very kindly gave us another one. Our room was beautiful with a big four poster, great stay!

We only used the spa and restaurant, so can't comment on the rooms, but even so, loved the place. Right from our arrival, any staff that we met, to speak to or just pass by, were very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, and we felt comfortable and welcomed. The spa is a medium size, with a small gym (we only glanced through the door, this visit was about relaxation! ), steam room, sauna and lanconium, plunge and hydrotherapy pool and outdoor hot tub. There were other people around but it was not busy, so we were able to stay in our chosen spot as long as we liked. You can have drinks served at the outdoor tables and loungers, which is an area enclosed on 3 sides by 2 storey buildings, but with screening so you don't feel over looked. There a a wide variety of treatments available, and professionally carried out by knowledgeable staff.

This is one of my favourite haunts… The food is always of an exceptional quality and good value for money. The toilets are lovely and are inspected frequently. The staff are very polite helpful and usually attentive. Ive never been disappointed here.

It's ok. For what it is and the price it could of been a lot better. I went for my 30th birthday and there was confusion on what we were having as a massage firstly then while one was having a massage we weren't offered a drink we had to go get it ourselves which is a different area from the spa. Also you have to pay extra to use pool and other facilities, disappointing as most spas you get use of facilities included in a massage especially at Charlton house costs. They could make the spa alot more appealing and I would of returned had they bothered a bit more with us.

Had a lovely one night stay here, the facilities were great and all the staff were friendly and helpful :) oh and the food was amazing!

My wife and I have stayed at Charlton House twice. Once in the main hotel, and once in the Garden Lodge. We thoroughly recommend the hotel and spa. The hotel rooms are decorated in the style of and aesthetic of an old English country manor, with rustic wooden beds and accessories. The bathroom — especially in the garden lodge, was beautiful and includes large baths and showers. The hotel staff were extremely courteous, and responded with helpful and quick answers to questions. Particular thanks go to the General Manager Guillaume, who ensured our every need was met. The breakfast was also excellent — thoroughly enjoyed!

Beautiful hotel and fantastic staff but managed by idiots which ruins the feel of the location and stop you having full enjoyment of the facilities. Duncan Bannatyne has turned this boutique hotel into a cheap and understaffed hotel.

We had an amazing time here. We had a spa & stay package complete with back massage and meal. The massage is highly recommended! And there was so much choice for dinner too. We will return!

Charlton House was our wedding venue, we have also visited a number of times in recent years as overnight guests, or to use the superb spa facilities. A special thanks to Julian who really looked after us throughout our special day.

This hotel has a great gym. It's small but has everything you need need before heading to the sumptuous spa to relax. The facilities are great but a little tired.

Loved it! Beautiful property, my husband and I booked in for a Spa day, which included a Swedish massage — after which we could use the facilities for the rest of day. I'd book again in an instant.

Went there as a big group for lunch. Staff were very helpful and friendly and service was very good. However, food was lacking. Very overpriced for the small portion sizes especially as with some of the meals you would have to add a side as well. I personally had a blue cheese and leek puff pastry with vegetables. This tasted like an overpriced cheese and onion pasty, vegetables were good but the ratio of potatoes, greens and pasty were off leaving with too many potatoes. Despite having had hummus starter and the charlotte for dessert left still feeling hungry. My sister also found a caterpillar in her steak and a hair in her dessert. They attended to the caterpillar issue very well but my sister chose not to mention the hair. Grounds are very pleasant if a bit outdated. Whole visit was pleasant but would not choose to visit again as there was nothing that really impressed me about this place.

Stayed here for a night with a spa day and dinner. The room was beautiful with a four poster bed and dinner was lovely. The spa is great with different things to try and my hours massage was perfect. Came home feeling very relaxed.

Excellent, high quality hotel with lovely gardens, cleverly combining the best of old and new in its design and facilities. Fabulous spa: some rooms adjoining spa facilities. Elegant, sunny restaurant with conservatory extension goes out of its way to cater for all dietary requirements including vegan. Reasonable prices in restaurant, food beautifully presented. Recommended.

I was booked in yesterday for a full body massage with Meagan, and after being a bit apprehensive about it and whether I'd enjoy it, Meagan was so professional. She was helpful and it was a really nice birthday treat, I have recommended it to all of my family and friends. Thank you Meagan.

We stayed in a lovely large room, bed was comfortable. The hotel was 20 minutes walk from shepton mallet or a short taxi journey. The hotel had a very unique special feel with lovely surrounding gardens.

A beautiful, old, building, full of character, lots of history, really cosy and friendly, with a great spa. All the rooms are different and all really well decorated, the grounds are beautiful, there is a brand new gym. The staff are really helpful. I would really recommend the place.

What a charming spa hotel, beautifully situated with wonderful grounds. The food and wine is splendid, and the spa facilities some of the best we have visited. Excellent staff, excellent service. Highly recommended.

Our room was on the top floor of the main house. Although small it was very cosy and romantic. The spa was a little on the small side too, but perfectly fine. The breakfast was well above average cooked to order. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Odd mix of very good and strangely poor. The restaurant exceeded expectations in terms of food but the ambience was spoiled by highly-intrusive music which seems incongruent with all other (largely successful) attempts to create a pleasant, upmarket ambience. Seems like people of taste have created the decor and the food, while some utter chav has picked the music and the volume is set by someone who has already gone deaf from the noise. Also rather oddly was charged £1 for a toothbrush. First time I've been charged anywhere in the world, even in a Holiday Inn Express let alone at these room rates. Nul points for effort in impressing customers. Do they even consider that repeat business might be something worth trying for? On top that a dripping loo in the room wasn't fixed despite asking twice, and breakfast on the Sunday took an age (half an hour between order and arrival). Save your money and go elsewhere. Hard to believe some of the other reviews either some folk are easily pleased or it's all a bit fishy.

We have stayed several times at Charlton House and have never failed to be impressed with the facilities and the helpfulness of the staff. All the rooms are of a very high standard (many of which have been refurbished), the spa is small but never overly busy; and the surrounding grounds are stunning.

The place was great. The Staff were helpful and the spa products were brilliant. Was very impressed with the Bannatyne products as I usually have dull skin. The products that were used were so good I didn't need to wear make up. Many thanks to the guys that run the hotel and spa. They do a great job!

Probably the best hotel I have stayed in! great staff, spa, food and massage! Superior rooms are amazing! Highly recommend!
