Excellent hotel with fantastic rooms and wonderful staff. The only down point was we had an evening meal on Saturday night and found the food to be slightly below par. My wife ordered the steak and vegetables but the meal was served with only two halves of tomato.

Terrible! No serviced rooms. Wet bath towels still on floor. Poor to no Internet service. Unacceptable breakfast. Noisy rooms upstairs to ground floor rooms. Insisted on payment up front. 3 day stay, pre — booked when it was a Lodge. Now a poor service B &B. Grossly overpriced with very poor value. Please book elsewhere. We're Australian. Four of us. Two rooms. Unacceptable standard.

Lovely B&B with well appointed rooms, friendly staff (contrary to the experience some other reviewers had). Conveniently located, only drawback is the proximity to a busy road, but we didn't hear it during the night since our rooms we're in the back side. Of the castle. Kids we're thrilled with the reality of staying in a castle.

I stayed here six months ago with my wife and to be honest we won't go back. On arrival we where greeted by the lady of the house, but she dropped her posh accent twice over. She is definitely not of high stock! No one helped us with our bags we had to carry them ourselfs. The room was OK however for the price we where expecting better quality. I'm not sure if the owners are aware of the stained carpet by the bathroom. The bed was hard and uncomfy but the pillows where lovely. Some of the furniture has seen better days and need a good clean. On arrival we found that there was a floater down the toilet ! When we had breakfast myself and my wife could hear someone arguing in the kitchen. It was the owner again and this time her accent was that of a of east end of London cafe owner not such as a place like this. She was very rude to her member of staff and really needs to stop such behaviour. Her husband was not there he went out shopping in town because on his return his SUV was full of food and drink. I spoke to the owner on his return and told him what happened earlier on in the kitchen with his wife and the cook, but he was not interested his reply was his wife was a very polite person? Anyway parking was OK the views OK and in all honesty for the price we paid it certainly was NOT up to standard. I would have preferred to pay a lot less. As for the extras like the Jacuzzi forget it, when we where there it was broken as was the shower.

Read some reviews on here of the owners apparent rudeness and disdain and complete lack of customer service or common sense and now having just seen these 2 on "four in a bed" it is completely apparent that they are undeniably delusional and stuck up their own a***s. From what I saw their castle is in no way up to 5* standards and they are the most abhorrently ignorant couple I have seen on "four in a bed". Would never waste money to stay here!

Never stayed here. Never would. It amazes me that people would so candidly expose they're business to the general public via a show like Four in a Bed and then proceed to be dreadful, self opinionated, rude ten bob millionaires? To quote Mike Hepker you and your wife are as the French say enculé.

Horrible experience. Very snobby people and not a relaxed visit. They just want your money. No wonder they drive around in a Rolls Royce! Avoid! You can get a better experience at a premier inn! Plus a better breakfast!

Lots of character, friendly staff, nice food, great place to relax. A bit pricey for two people, hot tub not in operation.

Lovely location, Lovely hotel, Lovely hosts, Lovely meals. Have passed this hotel on or back from Bristol for 30+ years and finally got to stay there. We were not disappointed. We were treated to a fabulous stay.

Dirty bathroom, badly stained lavatory and no handle on the chain. Wash basin had huge black crack all down one side. Castle may be old but sanitary ware shouldn't be. Waste bin not emptied. Bad food. Mean buffet breakfast, spillage from cereal dispensers not cleaned for days, still there when we left. Too many issues to put in review. Whole place needs a good clean.

A fantastic looking little castle hotel with very friendly staff and a clean lovely room. Has great facilities too. Definitely thumbs up!

Excellent stay over Friday and Saturday, food was very good and cooked to order. The manager Mike was very hospitable and could not do enough for you. Would highly recommend this place. The hot tub and sauna could do with a bit of TLC. Stayed in the Stirling room in the castle, absolutely stunning with a large balcony.

Lovely place to stay. Wonderful food and really friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only small grudge was the shower was a bit weak. Highly recommended accommodation.

Very homely friendly atmosphere to a beautiful setting. With its Garden retreat a real bit of England. Fantastic food! Quality bedroom too! We'll be back!

Snobbery at its finest which is astonishing. The fittings were dusty and dated, there is clearly not enough money to go around to keep things tip top and the only difference between my stay and my mother's (they were fawning over her) was that I sign in without my title and she uses hers (Lady) which is always a gauge of the type of people you're dealing with. The woman is especially funny and her accent is very amusing, although her mood appears to be somewhat lacking in Serotonin.

Excellent service, staff have been excellent. Rooms are nice, if sometimes a little eccentric — quite heavy on the castle theme, but my daughter loved that. Decor on the corridors a little too rustic for me. Beds are very comfortable slept very well.

We had an absolutely lovely stay here. The staff were extremely polite and friendly and the castle, rooms and location were beautiful. Breakfast was very tasty and although there was only a couple of members of staff they attended to everyone efficiently and kept everyone happy — hats off to the two girls whose names I sadly forgot to get. Don't forget to use the free hot tub at the bottom of the garden! Would love to stay here again and will definitely consider it for our wedding!

Not given a welcome feeling. Made to feel inferior by owners. They need to remember that they are working for guests not vice versa. I got the feeling that the woman was very lower class by the way she dropped her accent at times. Rooms were adequate but not worth the price paid. A little less class boasting and a little more sincerity would make the world of difference. Will not be returning. Have stayed in better Premier Inns.

Beautiful castle. The staff were very friendly and couldn't fault much with the place. The bed was quite hard. Not as comfortable as I'd like but I suppose it's up to to personal taste. Not too far from bath either need to drive or get a cab. You cannot walk to bath or anywhere else really as it on a main road. Beautiful setting and scenery. Really cannot fault the look and feel of the castle and it's surrounding. Bath is a brilliant little city. Loved staying there would definitely return.

I am a disabled American with an assistance dog. They ruined my stay by constantly attacking my decision to stay there and have my canine helper with me. They ruined the atmosphere by targeting me in front of the other guests. They took my room key and used it to steal things from my room and then called the police. I gave back my key and told them I would never go back on account of their treatment of my disability. They reserved all of the tables in the dining room and told us we couldn't visit with the other customers then they took the towels out of our room and tried to charge me for them. Their hot tub stank like muddy water and the sauna would not turn on. They are a disgrace to the name of hospitality and I would not recommend them to a colony of ants. Filthy attitude, disgusting behaviour, vicious treatment of the dog.

Service was poor, felt like second rate customers because we had groupon tickets sadly. But place was lovely.

I never stayed here but I have just seen these hosts on 4 in a bed well he was very rude to the other competeters if you can't take criticism then give up ur business your water pressure it ridiculous rain comes from the sky quicker than the water from your showers.

Authentic 1800s castle that looks like a castle but has the modern amenities. The grounds are pretty and if staying here, take 20 minutes to walk the well manicured paths. Hot tub area looks clean and new but I did not use it. Dinner is below one of the towers and the food was reasonably priced and very high quality/delicious. Pace was leisurely, but not slow and the staff was fast to help. The down side was the Wi-Fi was not working but I didn't go there for Internet and the little I did use I received over a mobile signal.

I am indebted to the television programme "Four in a Bed" for settling an argument between my wife and I after staying at this establishment last summer. Until watching the programme we were both at a loss to explain the presence of a rather dishevelled chap who wandered around the bar area during the evening. He reappeared at breakfast, unshaven and looking rather the worse for wear at a table of his own. It appears that he is actually the establishments resident wit and raconteur. We found this somewhat surprising as when both my wife and I greeted him whilst ordering an aperitif, he completely ignored us. As he announced on the television show that he only engaged in conversation with people who merited this intellectual treat, I feel that my three years reading P. P. E at Cambridge were spent in vain. The staff were pleasant enough and the room was clean. However the attempt to achieve an atmosphere of opulence by having the name of the hotel on every item in the room was adversely affected by the rather cheap bathroom fittings and a shower that was more of a thin trickle. Rather underwhelming but, in retrospect, quite amusing.

Disgusting time. Spiders everywhere. Costumer service was none andm id rather stay in a tent.

Owners & Staff are terribly pretentious. I wouldn't speak to my enemy the way they spoke to our family. Disgusting.

Lovely hotel, awesome. The manager is very friendly and very willing to accommodate our children, even when needed dinner at an awkward time. This is a very family friendly hotel. Furthermore, the atmosphere feels homely, nice fireplace, and the room/bathroom were clean and neat. We will come back here and would recommend this to others.

Awesome hotel, very clean warm and cosy seeing as its a castle it was very homely. First class customer service and delicious food for dinner and breakfast. We had the Stirling room and it was really wonderful. Very spacious and lots of extras including a delicious box of chocolates. Also my partner treated me to a beautiful bouquet of flowers that was a service offered by the hotel. I must say that they were the most beautiful bunch that I have ever seen! So all in all a really wonderful experience!

A beautiful hotel in the country with incredible rooms and staff that are willing to bend over backwards to please you.

Leigh and I had our wedding here. It was a weekend venue and we had the castle lodge all to ourselves. The rooms are amazing! friends and family were so impressed with the decoration of each room, Each room is individual it was so hard deciding where to put people. My parents stayed in the Whitstable, just perfect for elderly people The ground of the Lodge just perfect for photographs, perfectly maintained with flowers, amazing woods with streams bridges and natural settings. You can bring your own DJ or plan just about anything to want, Karen (the owner) its really flexible with any ideas. Wayne is the Manager, well what can I say about him? He's a character! and I feel made our wedding perfect. He's accommodating, helpful and went out of his way to cater for our wedding party. If you are looking for something a little different to have your wedding, look no further!

Wonderful venue, enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea there, great host lots to eat, and a delightful setting.

Loved staying our last night in UK in a CASTLE! It was small and felt so neat. Facilities were great, location-not within walking distance of Bath, duh. It was really cool! Would stay there again, but a bit pricey.
