A beautiful hotel with lots of original Georgian features in beautiful grounds, with genuinely friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend!

Had an amazing smallish party function at The old Rectory, staff were incredible, nothing was too much trouble, and everything was done with a smile. The Orangery room was beautiful and so was the food.

Had a beautiful afternoon tea yesterday with bottomless Prosecco, the food was beautiful and plenty of it. The staff were brilliant, friendly and we never had empty glasses.

We had our wedding here on 02.03.2019. Such a fantastic place to hold our event, with plenty of space and amazing inset decor. The staff are also lovely, attentive and dedicated. Hotels room were also beautiful and spacious. 10/10.

We had our family Christmas meal here now for a few years, Yet again we was made to see welcome, the staff was fantastic and very friendly. The food was delicious. Such a beautiful building and it looked fantastic with all the decorations up.

We had a Christening today at the Rectory. Simply fantastic. Used the Marquee, small bouncy castle, 90 people & wonderful food & drink. Selina & her team made the day and I’m so very grateful.

Booked this hotel for my dad bank holiday weekend as he was attending the steam fair. He could not speak highly enough of the hotel and staff too. He said it was 'spot on' and he had a belting sleep easy to find and great parking too. Thanks for making his weekend a pleasant one x.

A beautiful location, lovely garden and great room. The hotel is everything you would expect from a historic building, so it's not sparkling new but it doesn't need to be. A welcoming and comfortable hotel, good breakfast. Will come again!

Small, but professionally run hotel. Very English in many ways and all the better for it. I stayed for 2 days while in the Wem area. My single room was comfortable (despite the July heatwave) and the views of the gardens and Shropshire surroundings were lovely. The warm weather also allowed me to enjoy a drink on the terrace. There is a nice, family-run, informal feel to the hotel and all the staff were friendly and polite. Full-English breakfasts were freshly prepared and filling :-) There's also a good choice of other items at breakfast and some dietary requirements are also catered for. I wouldn't hesitate to book again when in the area.

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at The Old Rectory on 9th June this year. Friends and family arrived from 3 pm. We were blessed with beautiful weather (which Selina had ordered) and spent time in the stunning garden. This place is a real GEM. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The evening party was amazing, the food was fabulous. Next morning, smiling staff back on duty. Thank you Selina and all at The Old Rectory. The hotel is an old house as the name suggests. The staff are very good and helpful. We rung ahead to see if we could book in early as we had arrived earlier than 2pm, with out any fuss they allowed us to book in 2 hrs earlier.

Very good, nice and quite at night, only meet three of the staff the cleaner, a young girl who checked us in and also served breakfast and a brief meeting of the night receptionist all seemed very friendly but the young girl who served breakfast never stopped smiling nice to see.

We took about 50 Barclays Pensioners there for a lunch time meal. Good service and staff were all excellent. We will return.

Beautiful place to stay. Spotless and the food was delicious, especially the afternoon tea. The staff are so attentive and can't do enough for you. Very relaxing and highly recommend.

This place is a little gem. We were greeted by Kate who showed us to our suite. The room had everything we needed such tea/coffee making facilities and an ensure with jacuzzi bath. We ate in the restaurant and had the fillet steak which came with jenga chips, mushrooms, tomato and creamy peppercorn sauce. It was fantastic. The breakfast the next morning was superb, offering a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, juice, full English, toast and tea and coffee. We had a fantastic stay, everything was catered for and nothing was too much trouble. Kate was polite and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning.

Great hotel, beautiful building, good sized room and nice staff. Would be nice if the heating was left on overnight.

We spent 2 nights here for my partners birthday. This is the second time we have stayed here. It is a beautiful old house in beautiful surroundings. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. The four poster room with Jacuzzi bath tub was amazing and well worth paying a bit extra for. Definitely shall be back again.

We had our wedding here 11th November 2017 from the moment we booked our wedding selina and her team couldn’t do enough for us. Selina took all the stress and worry away from me.
Absolutely stunning venue the grounds are perfect for wedding photos all year round and the marquee was beautiful we were worried with it being a November wedding that it would be cold in the marquee but it wasn’t selina assured us it would be warm and at one point the guests were asking to turn the heating down because it was too warm! The food was out of this world and the staff are truly amazing they work so hard and have always got a smile on there face.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Lovely quiet location and quirky old building with large garden. Plenty of parking on site. Very good value and attentive cheerful staff. Generous breakfast and simple evening menu cooked to a good standard.

The old rectory is a beautiful hotel set in stunning grounds. The food and drinks are delicious. The staff are friendly and accomodating. I personally stayed in the room with 4 poster bed and it was amazing (for my wedding). We held our wedding and receptions there and our day was perfect from start to end. It all ran smoothly. The staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for us. Even the toilets are lovely. All decked out, deodorant/hair spray/hand lotion etc provided.

We got married here on 20.08.16 and truely had the most amazing day. The venue was amazing staff was amazing all the food was scrummy. The day from start to finish was just perfect, the old rectory really is a hidden treasure! a huge thankyou to Selina and Claire for everything we couldnt of asked for more.

The Old Rectory is a lovely building and very pleasant to stay in. The staff on my visit were very friendly and attentive and nothing was too much for them. I would recommend for a stay in the area.

We got married at the old rectory hotel in 2010 which was perfect in every way. We now visit several times a year to celebrate special events such as Christmas, valentines day, mothering Sunday, father's day, our wedding anniversary and any other celebration we have. The location is lovely, the hotel is set amongst some beautiful gardens. The rooms are fully equipped. We had the bridal suite which was fit for a queen. The staff are always friendly yet efficient. I recommend this hotel to all my family, friends and Internet acquaintances. A.

Stayed for two nights. Staff were friendly, the atmosphere was very relaxed. Room was a little on the small side. En suite just ordinary.

We've used the Old Rectory a couple of times for meetings and always had good food and excellent service.
