Had a really disappointing visit here tonight for my partner's 40th birthday. We had 16 in our group and had multiple issues across all the group. Service was very slow and not one staff member looked happy in their work. It took over 1 hour for our mains to come out even though they had been pre booked. This was so long that 2 guests had to go and couldn't have the desert they ordered. The steak that 3 people had was chewy, the kids sausages were dry also and got left. 1 of the children had ordered a gluten free option and on the night there had to be a change to her food that we weren't told about. Most shocking, despite being told multiple times, the staff served a child with a gluten allergy an ice cream with a wafer on… even though a multiple times they and the manager were told about the issue. Some of our group didn't get starters at the same time as everyone else and when they ordered a burger with no cheese, told the staff to make sure there was no cheese… you guessed it… the burger came with cheese. On reporting these issues to Christian. Who is supposedly a manager and the son of the owner we were met with all kinds of excuses such as… it's Friday and were busy… well don't take bookings if you can't get food out in timely fashion that is well prepared. Alarming to me how bad his attitude was when we complained… not a care in the world. Not their fault.

Lovely meal but the young lad on the bar is really miserable and needs some lessons in providing good service.

Afternoon tea absolutely delicious, great selection of sandwiches and cakes and all served in a relaxed but charming and friendly manner, thanks Will. Lunch next time methinks.

Held a Baby Shower at The Sweeney on 9th Jan and it was just lovely. Beautiful setting and the staff were amazing. The food was gorgeous and plenty of it. Thank you so much for your efforts xx.

We married today at the Sweeney. What an utterly outstanding day. We couldn’t be happier. Beautiful venue. Highly Attentive team. Every one of our hopes has been exceeded for our big day and we can’t thank the team enough. 100% recommended for both couples looking for a wedding venue and anyone looking for a relaxed, classy, first rate venue for an overnight stay…. And oh my…. The food is beyond first class. Thank you all for making our big day, the day of our hopes and dreams.

My friend and I had a lovely meal last week. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food delicious. The offer of blankets and hot water bottles were such lovely ideas for outdoor eating! I can't wait to be at the Sweeny again in the future 😊

We ordered Sunday lunch for collection today and it was absolutely fabulous. Delicious hot food collected and ready to eat. Thank You. We can't wait to beable to come and eat in again but for now this was a perfect alternative. Please do this for Xmas (I cant yet trust little ones in a restaurant) xxx.

Thank you for our amazing sunday dinner takeaway. It was beautiful and huge portions! the chocolate oreo cheesecake has to be the best pudding I have ever eaten!

5 * Perfect atmosphere and food in lovely setting. Dining rooms nice and quietly conducive to good conversation across their ample tables set so well with great linen too!

Nice old manor turned into a hotel. Good breakfast and beds. The only complaint was there was a wedding the second night we were there that was very loud and right under our room. Not whats we expected from a quiet country hotel.

Very good position with good views of the countryside in it's own grounds. Inside, fine decor, meals… good quality, staff are very helpful and attentive with good service.

12 bedroom hotel, plus cottage set in the Sweeney estate. Ensuite room had usual ingredients with an attempt at period furniture. Limited space in bar complemented by outdoor area if weather fine. Customer service/ food quality varied.

Family run and every one does every thing possible to make your stay a good one. Wednesday is very busy in the evening. Difficult parking.

We had our wedding here (summer 2017). The service and attention to detail from the staff couldn't have been better. It was the perfect venue, the food was wonderful, and it was clear that Sean and the team really cared about making the day as special as possible for us. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Great building with a history that's quite interesting. The staff are fantastic and go above and beyond to help and make your stay here one to enjoy and remember.

Love this little cottage adjoining Sweeney hall hotel. Stayed New year for 2 nights. Enjoyed a few gins in the bar New yrs eve. Lovely pleasant staff. Shall definitely be paying a return visit.

We went for new years eve. Greeted with projector and very nice canapés. Very good and prompt waiter service and lovely food. That with a super atmosphere made a terrific evening.

Fantastic venue. This really is a rare gem and well worth a visit. The food is excellent and the bar well stocked. The environment is great with a roaring log fire on entry. Very friendly staff. It has a touch of old fashioned class sadly missing from modern hotels. Highly recommended!

Always a great place to stay. A family run business, nothing is too much trouble. Dinner is always excellent. Breakfast relaxed and informal. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms clean and some quite grand. But the highlight is their selection of find.

Lovely experience. Beautiful property with huge lawns. Old style hotel with vintage style rooms. Good food and a nicely stocked Bar. Try the Sweeney English Breakfast.

We always enjoy going to Sweeney Hall for a meal and have recommended it to others. We stayed there overnight for the first time last night and would, again, thoroughly recommend it. Lovely room and beautiful views with all the small details attended to.

My sister in law had her wedding here. We had an afternoon tea and a buffet evening meal and the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Great place.

Not as good as I remembered it, the service while pleasant seemed disorganised as orders were asked for at least twice on each occasion. I think I pick a poor starter, the main course was good.

Attended for a family wedding. Lovely grounds and the building was nice. Staff generally attentive and professional. Parking a bit cramped but access easy.

I have been going to the Sweeney every year since my wedding there 12 years ago and not once have I had a bad meal or anything negative to say about the hall. Staff are always great and welcoming going again today for my wife's birthday meal.

Fantastic staff, excellent rooms (East Wing) was amazing for the wife and kids. Beautiful views, amazing food and plenty of parking. Only little criticism is the narrow entrance when driving, would be nice to have the long road leading up to the hotel to be big enough for two cars, but that's not even a criticism really as it completes the back road Manor feel.

The food is good quality, staff are super friendly, cheeseboars could do with more crackers than they give (had to ask for more). The building itself is absolutely stunning and the rooms are of a good standard.

I went to a wedding at sweeney Hall. It's was nice. Food was good. Lots of gin. Nice decor. Had a great time. Not much more to say really. Great surroundings.

The food was excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful. We were there for 2 nights for a family gathering. They were very attentive and the management were very hands on. It felt like a family run hotel with personal interest in the guests well being and enjoyment of their stay. The grounds are lovely too. Super for children to explore. There are some beautiful old trees within the grounds. Well worth a visit. We would happy return to this hotel in the future.

We attended a 40th anniversary meal at Sweeney Hall, couldn't fault the service, staff were brilliant! Food was great too, although the Apple Pie was a little on the flat side, but it tasted great, not a patch on the Pavlova though!

Charming country house set in pleasant grounds. We had the Sunday set menu which was well thought out and reasonably priced. Great service.

Attended a 30th birthday meal. All 3 courses were very good. The bar is well stocked with gin (45 of them apparently) and the gardens are well tended.

Visited this grade one listed building to attend a wedding. I stayed in the adjoining cottage which was very cosy, tastefully decorated and well equipped. Sweeney Hall itself was very nice, set in sweeping grounds dotted with trees and livestock. The bar area is small but well stocked and there was a Gin festival on during my visit with lots of different varieties of Gin on offer. The bar opens up on to a pleasant terrace and lawn area. I found the majority of the staff I encountered to be friendly and polite.
