Review of Sweeney Hall Hotel 3*

Had a really disappointing visit here tonight for my partner's 40th birthday. We had 16 in our group and had multiple issues across all the group. Service was very slow and not one staff member looked happy in their work. It took over 1 hour for our mains to come out even though they had been pre booked. This was so long that 2 guests had to go and couldn't have the desert they ordered. The steak that 3 people had was chewy, the kids sausages were dry also and got left. 1 of the children had ordered a gluten free option and on the night there had to be a change to her food that we weren't told about. Most shocking, despite being told multiple times, the staff served a child with a gluten allergy an ice cream with a wafer on… even though a multiple times they and the manager were told about the issue. Some of our group didn't get starters at the same time as everyone else and when they ordered a burger with no cheese, told the staff to make sure there was no cheese… you guessed it… the burger came with cheese. On reporting these issues to Christian. Who is supposedly a manager and the son of the owner we were met with all kinds of excuses such as… it's Friday and were busy… well don't take bookings if you can't get food out in timely fashion that is well prepared. Alarming to me how bad his attitude was when we complained… not a care in the world. Not their fault. We had guests with us who even worked at this restaurant and all of us left saying we would never return and vowing to let people know about the poor experience. Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else if you are thinking of visiting here… if you have an allergy then definately don't go here.
