Met a friend for a meal on Fri. Cannot fault the food. Everything cooked to perfection. The chicken with black pudding dauphinoise was amazing. Staff friendly and high level of cleanliness throughout. Will definitely be back after lockdown. Stay safe all.

Excellent meal tonight, staff also clean tables and chairs really well so feels covid safe.

Very limited menu, food were small portions and vegetables consisted of a dish full of mini corn, 4 slices of carrot 2 green beans and some peas. Not enough for 3 people. Pub was very cold and very uninviting.

Great meal and service. Well organized for social distancing. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely staff, made me feel very welcome dining with just my dog and I! Food was lovely also, and decor very comfortable, clean and chic, highly recommended.

Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Food was excellent and didn’t have to wait too long before first course came out. Definitely would recommend a visit to The Salwey Arms.

Looking forward to a family night out, however table was booked for 6.45, we finally ordered our food at 7.10pm, food came out at 7.50pm! that's a long time when you have a 5 year old waiting. Food was good, but believe it was highly priced for what you got.
The biggest disappointment was though when the bill came, my daughter mayonnaise with her meal, they charged 50p for this, and she also had a pudding but I asked them to make it smaller for her, which they did, and said they would charge less, they only charged a £1 less than the full price, full price was £6.50, I would've expected a little bit more off to be honest.

Following many very successful visits in the past, I am sad to say that tonight was dreadful. Having booked as a party of 10, we were looking forward to an evening of good food, company and service but this was not the case. Service was horrendously slow with our main course taking almost an hour to come out. I wouldn't recommend the coconut curry as it was tasteless. After another long wait and some prompting we were asked if we would like anything else — yes please, desserts. The waitress then came and asked for tea and coffee orders which was rather confusing BEFORE dessert. Some of our party ordered tea and coffees and had these before ordering desserts… odd. We then had to chase for the bill TWICE. We like to pride ourselves on being really good tippers but as we hadn't felt we had aY8 service, we paid the bill to the penny (they were lucky to even get that given the poor service). On another note, we had asked for the red room as usual as it is a nice spot for larger parties, away from the main bar. However, it was very cold indeed. One of our party actually went and stoked up the wood burner herself in the hope of gaining a little heat. As we left we shared our disappointment and said that we would probably go elsewhere in future. Awful shame.

My family had a lovely breakfast this morning. Just want to say thank you to the staff who were welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful and the chef who was very accommodating in adapting the breakfast menu to suit my wife and son who are both vegans.
The food was a delight. I thoroughly enjoyed it as did the rest of my family.
Special thank you to Lorna. This lovely lady made us all feel right at ease in this lovely rustic pub. Thank you for a truly wonderful breakfast experience x.

The pub was welcoming and cosy food was lovely and drinks served well and in correct glasses. Staff very efficient of kit slightly lacking as was very busy.

Mixed experience. Very good starter but slow service. Staff are friendly and didn't seem overly busy. Sunday roast beef took 40 mins to arrive and second drink arrived after the meal was finished. Meal barely average… warm, barely cooked broccoli and very crisp veg. Disappointing.

Beautiful venue, stopped off for a drink, and was served my a very friendly lady, had a lovely local sly gin and tonic. Will be back to try the very tasty looking menu!

Food we had was nice, when we called to book (was for a sunday booking) wasn't to worried about having Sunday roast. Wanted something different unfortunately somewhere there was crossed wires… They said they had other options… Only other I or most of our party other than roast was fish and chips that we would eat.

Really nice food, great service and a cracking pint of Gold (I think it was from the local Ludlow brewery). I had the seabass off the Sunday menu with dauphinois potatoes, very nice! The seabass was on point. Lovely place with alot of space both inside and out!

The staff are really good and the meals as well as the deserts I believe are prepared to the best of their abilities… top marks for effort.

A friendly inn/restaurant/hotel (you choose). We stopped for lunch on our journey and were served with generous quantities of delicious food for a reasonable price.

My wife and I visited the Salwey Arm on Sunday 17th June and to say that I was disappointed with the whole experience would be an understatement. The young man who appeared to be in charge was a pompous individual who lacked the ability to engage with his clientele. I will however acknowledge that others in the team where engaging. The food was third rate and no what we had experienced on previous visits, I make allowances for the fact it was farthers day but I still expect to have a level of service that is acceptable. When I challenged the young waitress about our experience she was very apologetic and offered complimentary coffee but alas this was to late and we left. Having travelled and stayed in inns and hostelries all around the world I still find it’s the Uk that tends to be least inviting. Regards from two very disappointed ex-customers.

I booked a table for my Mums 70th Birthday. Being Vegan I checked the menu beforehand and found something I could eat, only to find when we arrived that the weekend menu was limited so my choice was not available. However, the lady serving was so kind, asked me which meal I had chosen from the Spring menu and they made it for me. It was the Chickpee roulade and was btw delicious! Fantastic meal and a lovely place, friendly staff and great play area for children. They were even very gracious towards my elderly Dad who is I'm afraid a moaner! Thank you for a lovely meal. :-)

Called in for breakfast on Bank holiday weekend. The quality of the food was good. Pleasant surroundings nice waitress. Food prices average. X.

Lovely country pub but not off the beaten track — on the A49 a few miles out of Ludlow south bound. Great food. Great ales. Great service.

Delicious food with generous portions. Good selection of local drinks and national brands. The venue is very well presented with a nice relaxed atmosphere for a birthday meal.

Visit to celebrate mom's 80th birthday — varied menu, friendly atmosphere, good service.

My tastes are simple and I like the best, I got a 5 service… Well done.

Whilst the does a mean breakfast, the rest of the food is disappointingly posh. I've had a breakfast here and it was nicely cooked, it was probably too early to ruin. I've had a couple of sunday roasts here, and they are pretty, but uninteresting in the mouth. I've had a few other dishes here, and whilst they are all attractive to look, their taste settings are constantly set to 'dull and uninspiring' The service is OK, although one is constantly behind a wedding party guest who is trying to earnestly impress someone they will never see again. The staff seem resigned to their change in status from semi-vibrant country pub, to wedding venue clone. One simply has to ask for things to appear, albeit one may have to ask a few times, blood does not need to be spilled. Or at least not quite.

Went to meet family who had stayed there for breakfast. Anything we asked for seemed to be done with a lot of trouble and food arrived very slowly. Staff seemed very friendly but not terribly competent. Breakfast was ok at best.

I have been to the Salwey before and was very impressed but this visit was not very impressive. 40 minute wait for main course, cold food delivered, staff under trained and under prepared. No attempt at real resolution. Tonight was the first time I have left a restaurant without leaving a tip in some years. The Salwey is starting to look shabby (not shabby chic) I see this time and time again, you take your eye off the ball and the thing goes down hill.

Venue was nice. Drinks good but pricey. Room for venue was good but not impressed with food that had been put on for the event, seemed little care taken and had to wait for more food to replenish for everyone to eat. Nice garden for kids. A nice day had but not fantastic as expected. Manager was not great either on the day.

Located beside hotel and Starbucks in wooferton, good access from the road. Not much else around. I went for dinner and the food was delicious, big portions and the staff were lovely. Only thing that could have been better was that it was a bit chilly.

Spur of the moment meal out. Delicious and well presented. Excellent Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Staff excellent too!.

Went as a couple. Food was both bland and cold. Very interesting flavours presented beautifully. Ambiance was Ok with large impressive chandlers and hard wood flooring. However chairs as much as they matched the room were rather uncomfortable and I left with awful back ache. Everything was on the menu seemed reasonably priced including drinks for which the had a wide selection to choose from including house wines. Staff in general were polite but we're in no way seemed enthusiastic. Overall not the best of evenings in the Salway arms. But will return to give them another shot in the future.

Great food, buzzing atmosphere… will come back!

The location is perfect for the surrounding area, the rooms are very comfortable and the restaurant is excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

Hosted my 40th birthday lunch on a Saturday lunchtime for about 16 people. We ordered food in advance and it arrived promptly soon after we arrived, in fact it beat the drinks to the table! Food was good quality and the large portions complimented further by the excellent service. Price is relatively high for the area but represents value for money. Irish coffee excellent. Recommended.

Food was ok without being spectacular. Reasonable price. Plenty of space which made it easier since we had kids in our party. Good play area outside.

Went for a Sunday dinner — "it's alright, nothing particularly special. " Food was warm (needed to have been hotter). Bread was chilled (straight out of fridge? ). Couldn't tell what the starter soup was. Mains — fish and chips looked good. Sunday roast beef was lacking (potatoes were barely warm, needed another vegetable. Meat tough) Dessert portions could have been a bit larger. Service was good and efficient. Poor baby changing facilities.

Nice pub only went in for a drink. We sat in the snug a nicely done out room with wingback chairs and a warm electric fire!

The drinks are nice they have a good choice and the staff are friendly. It has a pleasant atmosphere.

Popped in for a coffee. Beautiful place. Very friendly and helpful staff. If I'm ever in the area I will certainly visit again.

Attending a wedding there and the staff, food and premises were to a very high standard. Would defo return.

Called here on our way home to Lancashire, June and 7th July cannot recommend it enough excellent in every way, ladies bathroom, fantastic!

Very friendly staff and very affordable food. The proprietors made a real effort and offered some good suggestions for good walks in the Shropshire hills. A real nice change of pace from the London grind!

Stopped off here on the way back from Cardiff to Wrexham by the off chance of a roast dinner. Beautiful place, beautiful food. Nice peacful location. It was that nice I booked a room for April, quite cheap considering the quality.

Unfortunately on Friday the 14th of February, we came here to the salway, with extremely high expectations as I came here about 2 months prior to our recent visit.
The first time was brilliant, service and food amazing.
But on Friday we came here, we were tended to immediately and a drinks order taken, we waited 22minutes for our drinks to be bought to us, an apology was made and we were promised 'free' ciabatta, we were thankful for this, our food order of 10oz steak and chicken wrapped in bacon was taken, and a short 10 minutes later our wonderfully presented food was bought to us, mine (the chicken) was lovely, but my partner was too polite to complain about the 5oz steak and 5oz gristle/fat that he was presented with, although looking good, the plate was way too small for the amount that was on it.
Personally I also thought that £4.00 for 175ml of 'common' rose was a bit too pricey, but each to their own.
We were offered a dessert, and had to reject as neither of us were keen on sorbet (especially in winter), so we rejected. Finally after paying up we jumped in the car, and the look on my partners face was confused, he double checked the bill and we had been charged for the (free) ciabatta, £2.50. (For 6 small slices of bread and a bit of oil). After this experience, I'm sorry to say that I doubt I will be visiting again. But on the positive, I do recommend for sandwiches. As this is what I had first time.
