It was good enough for Lord Byron and I’m just a knight! This is our second visit to the hotel and so far it has not disappointed. Our room is up in the eaves with beams that could crack my head open if I don’t pay attention. A bath is my luxury item and two sinks in the bathroom is just pure indulgence. An evening meal in the hotel restaurant will be the final test. We will hold our wedding here, thats for sure, we are just trying to work out a date when we can get everyone together. Did I mention the lake with swans and a walk through the woods. I think these Lords had it pretty good.

Beautiful venue but service was not acceptable. We booked my daughter in laws baby shower staff were very friendly on booking We have a very long wait to have our drinks order taken. We waited around 20 mins for the coffee. I drank my coffee and we were still waiting for the tea to arrive. My granddaughter who we paid full price for her afternoon tea was charged for her apple juice very petty. The sandwiches finally arrived we weren’t told what was in them. I’ve had better sandwiches very poor. We didn’t complain on the day as we didn’t want to spoil the occasion. To top it all you have to pay for parking really!

Attended my friends baby shower recently which involved a beautiful afternoon tea. Also attended wedding back in October. Service was great, food has been exceptional on both occasions. Stunning venue and would highly recommend for any event.

We had our wedding here just before Christmas. It was an incredible and magical day. The staff were lovely and helpful, and always had a smile on their faces. The food and drink during our wedding was delicious, and the staff were more than happy to cater for guests with specific dietary requirements. The venue itself is beautiful, and the rooms are lovely, spacious and unique. Breakfast the next morning was also very tasty, hot and there was a good variety. Thank you so much to Naomi and everyone else that helped to make our day so special.

The food was delicious the service ok although more staff would have helped.
My final comment …. Why use works canteen/hospital cups with bone China saucers, madness.
Could do better.

After having spent money and being a paying guest I didn’t like having to pay for parking on exit.
While I was having my meal it felt cold I started eating with my coat on not a good experience.

Went here last night for my partners birthday. We had a fantastic time, nothing was too much trouble. The food, service and ambience was fantastic. A huge thank you to Selva, Sam and the team … Perfection!

We cannot recommend Colwick hall hotel enough! We got married here last Saturday and it was truly the BEST DAY EVER! The staff were amazing making sure everything was perfect and that everything ran on time. The food was DELICIOUS! The whole experience was just great! We stayed in the signature suite and it’s the size of a luxury apartment (perfect for the bridal party getting ready).
Colwick offers such a great wedding package you know exactly what you’re getting and there are no hidden fees or extras you need to add. Naomi, Sam and Vamood do everything in their power to make sure you have the best experience. Thank you so much guys we can’t thank you enough 🥰

Amazing hospitality and charming atmosphere. You know instantly that you are in a picturesque and historic location. The grounds and buildings are well maintained. Amazing architecture of period designs. The interior is totally classy combining the old and the new to full effect. There was a wedding today and you were made to feel like a wedding guest too! The service was 110% with a touch of class. Wanikum.

The venue is really nice and pretty, the staff were so friendly and attentive it was an absolute pleasure.

Lovely click and collect afternoon tea for my sisters 21st Birthday! Food was very tasty and great selection of treats. Really made the day special!

Wouldn't recommend this place for the restaurant or events. Paid a £250 deposit for my brother's 21st birthday which was cancelled due to COVID. They've decided that they're keeping £50 of it for ADMIN. Not sure what price they've put on sending an email but it's criminal either way. Naomi hasn't got a clue what she's doing, makes it up as she goes along. Told us in May that we couldn't have a refund at all and that we'd have to spend it on a reservation in the restaurant. Now apparently we can have a refund but we lose £50

Afternoon tea lockdown style, was such a great experience staff really friendly food was amazing would def recommend.

Enjoyed excellent lunch in safe welcoming space served by attentive staff. Such a beautiful building with gardens, fountains and lily pad covered lake.

The perfect wedding venue, wedding planning early on with Birgit was easy and precise. On the day, pramod or any duty manager ensure everything runs perfectly, I thought I’d worry that things were not done but it all happens behind the scenes just as planned. Gorgeous food, great bar service, stunning grounds. So glad we held our wedding here, it was the best day imaginable.

My wedding was most likely the last wedding before lockdown and what an amazing memory I have of the day. The day itself was truly spectacular. The staff are all amazing and friendly and really do make you feel special. The food in the day, canapés, wedding breakfast and evening buffet was superb, I only wish I had more of an appetite to eat more.
If I am honest I didn't ever consider getting married at Colwick Hall and viewed around 15 venues before I booked a meeting at Colwick Hall, I wish I had saved my time and went to Colwick Hall first. It was all great and I would recommend to anyone.
The bedrooms are over priced for what you get and could definitely do with a spruce up and the breakfast is pretty shocking, for the price I would expect eggs benedict and breakfast made to order, however this didn't ruin my wedding or 2 nights I spent there. Thank you all x.

It was ok there was nothing bad about It but a 4star hotel should be better I've stayed and cheaper and better 3 star hotels the staff was ok but they wasnt amazing
the breakfast was cold and again ok the room wasnt well maintained a great size and nicely decorated
but the bathroom could easier look so much better with a little bit of work.

Excellent customer service booked afternoon tea for baby shower in John Carr suite. I always had a reply with any information I required or requests I had within 24 hours. Naomi was very helpful. Dietary requirements were met without hesitation. On the day room was laid out as requested. Everything was done to perfect timing. Apoovva who was serving us was an absolute angel didn’t need to ask her to do anything just appeared and helped with literally everything.
My daughter, family & friends had a fabulous time.
I would highly recommend for event it’s a beautiful venue set in gorgeous grounds.

My daughter a I loved it. The staff were helpful and friendly nothing was to much trouble the room was so big a quite grand. Would stay there again. Great views of the race course out are window grounds well kept beautiful fountain too loved it.

This hall has so much to offer but if I wouldn't return, I can't recommend. On arrival, it's beautiful, even in the rain! Reception staff were super lovely and it turned out my request for a quiet room had been accommodated, thank you. However. When we got to our room on the second floor, or in the roof, it was absolutely stifling. I appreciate there's limited windows for fresh air but the small desk fan at the side of the bed that was caked in about 12 months worth of thick fluffy dust just wasn't doing a great job. The room was huge, the bed bigger than my whole bedroom at home but on closer looking (and I don't mean scrutinising, I just mean just looking around), it didn't justify the £140 per night price. One chair had wobbly/wonky legs so you couldn't sit on it, the kettle sounded like an airplane coming in to land, the only window (velux) about 20 feet up was dripping on the carpet so we had to shut out the only fresh air and some tiles in the bathroom were cracked and wobbly. The bath was lovely though — nice and deep — and it was great to have some big fluffy bath towels! I'm sure the bathroom products are lovely but all in plastic wrapping so we didn't use these. Upon request for some more coffee (great big sized mugs in the room! ) the ladies on reception provided these with a smile :-).

The staff are amazing. The food in the restaurant is truly first class. The only let down was the room was a little tired. The grounds are beautiful all in all the was a great weekend away.

Spent the night at this lovely hotel after a day at the racecourse which is just across the road. Our room was really nice with a huge bathroom. We didn't dine in the restaurant but spent time with a group of people who did and all 4 of them said that it was the best meal they had ever had, and they each had a different meal. Recommendation indeed. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful grand afternoon tea. Lots of little extras we weren't expecting. The leek and potato soup, mushroom tart and blackcurrant cheesecake were the stars of the show, all of it was wonderful. Really lovely treat for my fiancé's birthday. The service was excellent.

Me and my now wife got married here two weeks ago. We had previously been here for my best mans wedding and loved their day, so when we came to talk about our day, Naomi who helped coordinate and sort our wedding out couldn't have been more accommodating. Nothing and I mean nothing was a problem from the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was in place and ready to go. Pramod who was manager that day made sure we felt at ease and helped to make the whole day run smoothly. The staff who were on that day were absolutely amazing and we had the most memorable day anyone could ask for. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone to have their special day here. Thankyou to everyone involved and a special thankyou again to Naomi and Pramod for helping to make our day the best day of our lives. Thankyou.

Beautiful venue. Lovely rooms. Really good breakfast. No complaints. The grounds are stunning and the drive in is v impressive.

Had sports ball here wasn't allowed outside and drinks are expensive. It's a nice venue if you get to see it but otherwise it was an event in a marquee, nothing special nothing bad.

We had four rooms here for two nights and we all agreed it deserves a 5* review. Fab weather which showed the house and grounds at their best helped but the interior has been really nicely restored and the staff were excellent — receptionist (who seemed to be there almost 24/7) and Hannah (? ) our server in the restaurant were super friendly, welcoming and efficient — without ever being overbearing or snooty. Generally I dont have high expectations for hotel food but we ate in the brasserie both nights and it was REALLY good — as was breakfast. There were big functions on both nights we were there but there was no intrusive noise and they seemed to finish at 11.30. 'Never go back' aside I would happily stay here again :-)

They covered everything from the wedding ceremony, the meal and reception. Excellent service from start to finish and some lovely grounds surrounding the hall for a bit. Of peace, or to let the children play. Only problem is there are no play facilities for children. On a long day, it can be difficult to keep the kids amused.

The bar staff are really friendly. Had awesome time. Even after being smacked in the face by a high speed blade of grass from the gardener I would still recommend.

Went to a themed harry potter tea. Setting it livekt and easy to park. NOT greatly sign posted so make sure you know where you are going. It was done lovely. Sort of place you expect to go to a ball.

Staff superb, and enjoyed the wedding that we attended. Beers not too badly priced considering and overall a nice venue, if you have deep pockets for the pricing. Seems a little old and tired in places.

After living in colwick hall as a young girl it was such an odd feeling walking into the hall I took my two daughters and one of my grandaughters for afternoon tea it was lovely the food great and the staff lovely they even let me have a look round it is lovely now when I lived there there was only one room open to the public that was the Byron room the rest of the place was very run down but as children we did have fun thank you for a lovely afternoon and a walk down memory lane xxx.

Lovely hotel, very clean. Service was very polite. Food was beautiful, very quiet location. Would recommend. Only downside is no lifts and getting luggage to the second floor is a nightmare.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception here and had the perfect day. Everything was great down to the smallest details. We also frequent Byron's Brasserie where the food and service is fantastic. Highly recommend as a venue, hotel and restaurant.

Had afternoon tea at Colwick Hall. A great experience from start to finish, when emailing enquiries about booking the staff were helpful and prompt with responses and were flexible to our dietary needs. The restaurant was lovely and looked out over the fountain at the front. Again the staff in the Byron restaurant were friendly, competent and helpful. The food was great, with a lovely pea & mint soup, mini vegetable quiche and warm scones. The finger sandwiches were good and the cakes, including lemon drizzle, chocolate brownie, cupcake and shortbread. Overall couldn't have asked for better, would highly recommend.

Beautiful settings for a weddings, the attention to detail for the day was great. Bar Staff very friendly and shown great hospitality. The food for the sit down meal was of high standard — however the venue was let down by what can only be described as day light robbery. Wanting to change for children to stay in a family room! That's right addition cost for children to stay in a family room! The beds are not suitable and make shift, you wouldn't ask you dog to sleep on the springs! The reason for the charge I was informed due to breakfast! Well let's talk about breakfast — breakfast cut off is 9.30am, having enjoyed my brothers wedding the night before I Manager to get myself and my 2 children down for 9.05am. I was seated in the restaurant (may I add to a dirty, unset table) some family members already having there breakfast. The member of staff informed me it was a self service breakfast, I asked is there plenty of bacon! yes sir — well what followed can only be described as woeful customer service — the metal containers keeping the food warm were empty! When I asked if they will be re filled the member of staffed huffed and said I will ask. If u like bean and mushroom you could of lived like a king but nothing else to go with it! The member of staff returned to my table with a plate of bacon and a heap of scrambled egg — with a glow in his face he obviously thought this was funny bringing me a plate of bacon and egg! For what should of been a self service.

Lovely food but sadly reception staff didn't seem to know what they were doing when we booked. They originally told us that the menu on Friday 22nd would be very similar to Christmas menu. However when we got there, no sign of this menu. Thankfully the manager was very attentive and put together a Christmas dinner for us. In the end everything turned out okay but would have been nice to have a couple of cocktails on the house due to getting messed around.

The hotel is beautiful. We only attended the Byron dining area. It is market and the attention to detail is great. The ladies who served us where friendly and efficient.

We attended a masked ball on 9 December. It was very well attended and the service overall was acceptable. The bar area however was very crowded and there was an appreciable wait in getting served. This was the only negative point on an otherwise enjoyable evening.

Wedding day bliss. Lovely venue. Staff ever so down to earth and friendly. Food was well done for a large function, buffets and sit down meal. The rooms were to die for! Wow!

Very nice Xmas lunch in Byron's! We have had a works Xmas lunch here for a few years in a row and can't complain at all. As usual the food was great, the decor beautiful, the staff and service very good — if anything WE were a bit awkward this year as we had guests from overseas and the ad-hoc speeches and presentations got in the way of the serving and clearing schedule. There were also some afternoon tea tables next to ours so I hope we didn't impose on the other diners' lunches too much. This is a firm favourite of ours.

Close to the city centre, convenient for the racecourse. Beautiful hotel, stunning building, lovely rooms and fabulous outdoor space overlooking a country park and lakes. Themed events, weddings etcetera are all catered for with a high level of service and attention to detail. Plenty of parking. Great countryside feel considering its proximity to the city.

Had a lovely afternoon tea, almost perfect but few little things let it down. We booked Harry Potter afternoon tea but it was rebranded wizarding afternoon tea but we were not told this prior to attending so all the little Harry Potter names had been changed to more generic ones which was disappointing. Most of the food was delicious and there was plenty but 2 of the cakes were very dry and blend (the frog and snitch cakes) everything else was really yummy. Mostly staff were attentive and helpful but one male staff (who I was told was new) was not very friendly and when I asked for a cocktail was told to get it from the bar which no one else had to do and when I went to the bar was told to take a seat and it was brought to the table. Think he requires some more training as he wasn’t as bubbly and attentive as the rest of the staff. Beautiful surroundings and would still recommend but few little improvements needed to score 5/5

Harry Potter Tea — sandwiches presented well but otherwise poor experience and a complete rip off considering the poor quality of the cakes and poor service. No real attempt to theme it properly. It had the feel of one of those events arranged on the Apprentice but I get the feeling that Lord Sugar would have fired the lot of them for putting on such a poor show.

We got married at Colwick Hall last weekend and overall the whole day went beautifully and the staff were very efficient. I stayed at the venue the night before and there was a very loud function in the marquee till 1am. When I called down to reception to enquire what time the party ended I was told I should have been informed via email that it was booked but I didn't receive any email. I also wish the staff had boxed up my left over wedding cake as a matter of course as I forgot to request it and didn't get it back. But as I said the wedding breakfast and barbecue was gorgeous, the venue was beautiful and the staff consulted me throughout the day over decisions etc. I would recommend this venue for your wedding and I would choose them again if I had my time over.

Great wedding venue, especially for Indian weddings. Two marquees plus hotel is spacious too for guests. Breakfast could be more attentive.

Such a lovely place. Not stayed here but I have been for an afternoon tea which was really lovely. Also have driven a few brides here for weddings. Grounds are beautiful. Fantastic place to get married.

Ive stayed at stacks of places in the UK and overseas with work and on holiday. This was not one that I would go back to. The rooms were fine and reception staff attentive however the bar and brasserie were a very different kettle of fish. The bar menu wont be served in the bar beyond 6pm meaning that if you want a snack you have to have it as room service. I didnt fancy eating in my room so went for the salmon and muscles risotto of the main menu. The salmon was bland and the risotto had lumps of muscle shell in it. Not great and the staff had an 'Oh well… ' attitude…

Great place. You get a great chilling vibe which really does make staying here more entertaining.

Room and restaurant both amazing. Small amount of noise in the early hours due to a wedding happening but can't complain too much! Very large rooms with nice bathrooms. Shower however had only one setting: scalding! Not ideal for the few of us who love a cold shower.

An excellent hotel! The fact that it is independent shines through as the team are friendly and helpful, nothing seems too much trouble. It would be great to see the facilities expand, maybe to include spa/pool facilities. I would certainly visit regularly if that were the case. Weekends are normally filled with events and weddings, we were warned that their may be noise as people leave, however we didn't notice this at all. The rooms are excellent — really spacious and quite opulent with extremely comfortable beds and good linen. Food was equally excellent, a little pricey but certainly worth it for the quality.

Really good for an Indian or English wedding function. Rooms available to stay. Beautiful views. Fun for the kids too!

Beautiful building & gardens. Lots of parking. Inside is dated but its a period building and stunning. Ideal for parties and weddings aswell as a day out to visit a wonderful old property. Customer service fantastic. Small, quaint restaurant/ bar open all day.

We visited Colwick Hall Hotel for afternoon tea that was given to us as a gift and we were very happy with the whole experience. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it, considering there were only two of us! (We didn't quite manage to finish it but the staff were quick to offer a box to take anything left home with us). If the weather is nice the surrounding area offers a really nice walk through the woods and along the river.

My sister got married there very classy beautiful views very well maintained by Steve the groundsman even though we asked him to stop blowing leaves (which he did)

Attended a Christmas party event in the marquee. It was a good night, the food was pretty good and hot (always a task at these large events). Everything seemed very well organised, I've been to other events here before and generally always has been. Only thing I'd say is the entertainment was a bit lacking. It was billed as a moulin rouge theme and they did have a fairly good theme going on but I expected more actually entertainment, a couple of minutes of some showgirls doing the can can but otherwise it was just the extremely cheesy DJ all night. Other events I've been too have had lots of other things going on, even things like bucking broncos, fair ground rides etc. People seemed to leave early due to this in part I think.

Went for company Christmas dinner in the gazebo. Service very pleasant. Food quality good. Food quantity less good. Would go back.

Recently attended a staff party at Colwick. Really enjoyed the location (5 mins away from the city centre), experienced great service. Place itself is really charming, full of character and very enjoyable to explore.

Went for afternoon tea. Had to pay a £1.50 surcharge on top of the £19 for Earl Grey. Thought it was probably going to be the best Earl Grey ever. Nope. Twinings. For £1.50. Ridiculous. Service was fab and food wasn't bad. Very poor value.

A weird start from the waiter which made for an uncomfortable experience. Food was good, setting was good.

Stayed at the hotel on numerous occasions and have always had an excellent impression upon checking out. The rooms are very spacious, the bathrooms regal and the breakfast superb, offering cooked breakfasts as well as continental cuisine. The staff are polite, attentive and well organised. This hotel is streets ahead of city centre venues and amazingly much much cheaper. Overall I scored it 10/10. Fabulous! ;)

Good service, expensive alcohol.

The scenery was very picturesque, with eye catching water fountains. The hotel was spacious which allowed for number of different attracions all within the one venue. The spacious grounds meant that a number of marquees could be erected making the Colwick Hall Hotel a very versatile venue indeed.

We went here to a friend's wedding. The location and building is stunning. The inside décor is beautiful which made the hall a great wedding venue! The food was also really good and the staff were incredible.

Lovely venue and staff. I attended an amazing wedding here. Everything was perfect apart from the gents toilets were filthy and had a disgusting smell of urine like they hasn't been cleaned for weeks. 1 star knocked off for this.

The ambient of hotel was very good. Food was delicious. Staff were very helpful and courteous.

This was a present for my dad's 80th birthday the main meal was under cooked and the dessert was over baked. Supposed to be 1920 theme no evidence of that Service wasn't great. Definitely not worth the money.

Afternoon Tea today for two people. Was delicous and very generous. Both savoury and sweet options were well executed and far too much for two people. So they gave us a box to take the cakes home — excellent.

I haven't actually stayed over, but we have had a meal there. Very clean, well presented, polite organised staff. The Chef cooks well but, seems more into art work than cooking (hence a Mc D on the way home). I like what they've done to the place though. Bear in mind this is only my opinion. I much prefer a nice juicy steak with veg piled around it.

Georgetown Restaurant is a shame to all Malaysians and should not be allowed to operate for the sake of Malaysia's culinary reputation. Although the interior settings and atmosphere was quite impressive, leading to expectations that the food would deliver just as well, it was a massive disappointment to find the food was a far cry from real Malaysian food. I had the fish dish and the fish was very poorly cooked. It was overcooked and the fish was not fresh. This was an extremely amateurish mistake to make, especially for a restaurant charging the prices that Georgetown did. The vegetables on the plate was very untidy and tasted like it came from a frozen bag of mixed vegetables from the nearest convenient store. The Hainanese Chicken Rice dish that my friend ordered was a sham. Being from Malaysia and having tasted real Hainanese Chicken Rice, I felt very offended that the management of Georgetown Restaurant would serve us a dish that was completely different from the real thing. They may have been able to trick most of their clientelle who were not from Malaysia but we were not easily fooled. It was utterly disgraceful and insulting of the restaurant to treat us like we did not know much about Malaysian cuisine. The bad food was made even worst when we had to wait such a long time for it to be served. Furthermore, they were not served in unison, some of us had our dishes served earlier than our friends.
