Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff involved in Scarlett’s communion party on Saturday. All the food was lovely and plentiful, we all had a great day. Massive thanks to all the staff who was around on the day — We was well looked after, everyone was friendly and efficient. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you for further parties an know I will definitely return myself!

Stayed in this hotel this week really enjoyed my stay here, staff was friendly especially a lovely lady called Vicky who was really polite and friendly serving me at the bar. Would stay here again 👍🏼👌🏼

Issue with £50 hold not being returned. Bank told me to ask for a payment recall rang the hotel today. The lady on reception was absolutely horrendous. Speaking over me. Even hanging up the phone. Absolutely poor service when checked out. Also both nights stayed very loud events on. Extremely nosey til late at night.

Took £50 damage security deposit. Told it would be refunded when I check out. It's now been 3 weeks since my stay. Still no refund. Spoke to three different people all saying they sent it. My bank have said they haven't and advised me to ask for proof. Lady meant to be sending proof and still hasn't and hasn't rang me back.

Great place for events, convenient location too.

Just been for afternoon tea was lovely and you got loads also the lady on reception went far beyond to make sure we got everything as she explained there event manager was poorly would definitely recommend lovely food and brilliant staff.

Nice staff, good pool, free car park.

Absolutely brilliant stay, lovely room, facilities great, staff absolutely amazing, friendly and helpfully.

Advertises free parking, but Stayed there and got a parking enforcement £100, when contacted hotel for assistance fobbed off and told to appeal despite me having entered my car reg on the tablet at reception and them being able to view cctv of this to further prove my case. Lost my appeal! Not good for business won’t be staying again.

We book a double room deluxe on checking in we were given double single it took about 30mins to sort out we were given a hot drink and offer a 10% discount for the mix up which we had to claim back via the web No bar or restaurant as the hotel is changing hands.

Great Hotel. A 10 minute or so walk from the centre. Great sized rooms, clean, tidy and fresh, very comfy. The breakfast was fantastic. The staff and check in were very attentive. They didnt have a bar or food menu, but that didnt bother me as I knew in advance as Id read what it said and there were plenty of places to eat an drink around. Good service, lovely quiet sleep — very very happy with this hotel.

I attend a business meeting here once a week with a cooked breakfast always happy with the service coffe machines could do with upgrading but apart from that 5star.

Didn't meet the expectations with regards to services. Short staff at Breakfast. No menu card available. Had limited options to eat. The staff missed my wake up call. Complete Toiletries were not available even upon request. Upon request, Hotel extended my check out time by 5 hours without additional cost.

Just spent 3nights here. The room was spacious, and the biggest bed I have ever seen. The staff were wonderful, we will be back.

Air conditioning wasn't working and being a bride with bridesmaids getting ready it was awful, couldn't open any windows, the food and beverage manager was rude and spoiled my wedding, booked and paid for 6 rooms didn't have 1 room booked even though they'd taken pay for it! The receptionist was abrupt and very rude to guests.

Comfortable room let down by freezing conditions. Staff admitted that heating does not work in some rooms, therefore it's pot luck if you visit in the depths of winter. Probably should have taken advantage of free sauna! Had a meal in the bar, they managed to cook the wrong thing, got what I actually ordered 20 minutes later, they obviously re-fried the original chips so they were a bit crunchy! Breakfast was not as warm as I would have liked (self service) and the coffee was awful. The room was large, bed comfortable, just let down by the lack of heating. If I had to stay in the area again I'd probably opt for a Premier Inn.

Poor hotel. When we arrived the reception area was freezing cold. We checked in and went to the room and found that the heating wasn't working. We decided to go to reception to discuss this and went down the stairs instead of using the lift. There was an overpowering smell of damp and we could see damp on the ceilings, as we walked further down the stairs there was a bucket on the floor catching drips from the leaking ceiling. The receptionist was aware of the problem of heat in the rooms but hadn't told us. They offered to give us a small heater to warm the room up which we accepted. The staff were pleasant but not friendly and the whole hotel had a cold and uninviting atmosphere.

Very professional. Comfortable stay. Very handy for centre of st helens.

Attended a MBS event there. It was cold as heating did not work. Management refuse to attend to jobs required to bring hotel up to acceptable standard. Frontline staff excellent and work hard to cover lack of management support. Mercure should look into this as such a shame as used to be a very decent hotel.

Quite disappointed in fairness, room was cold and the heating didn't work, the unit to control the heating was broke and couldn't read the display. Colleagues who were staying same hotel had the same problem and apparently it had been like that for days with no maintenance team to deal with it. There was no hot water from the sink tap do had to shave over the bath using the shower head… Not good. The king size bed was not a king size bed, it was two singles pushed together which my partner and I could feel so we basically slept in two single beds pushed together. Took over 10 minutes for the reception staff to actually find my booking and was generally disappointed with the whole affair. The only decent thing was the bar staff and how professional and friendly they were.

Christmas Celebration Meal was very poor. The turkey was obviously processed and the vegetables badly cooked. The soup was tasty but barely warm. The sweet was passable. The coffee was served five minutes before the milk was brought round consequently it was almost cold from waiting. The service was so disorganised that some guests had finished their meal before others on the same table had received theirs. All together a total disappointment and would not recommend.

Absolutely freezing, ridiculous that hotel puts on a function in a conservatory on the coldest night this year and fail to provide adequate heating. People sitting eating in coats. Nice one Mercure Management for ruining what could have been a brilliant night.

Great Hotel, attended a big soul event which was well staffed, staff were great very helpful and positive, surprisingly cheaper drink prices than my local pub, rooms were clean, fresh and modern, nice coffee bar in the foyer, looking forward to staying there next time!

St helens centre. Big rooms. Great service. Nice pool.

Dreadful. Charged £150 for a sub standard room. Not clean. Black hairs all over the bathroom floor. There was a footprint on the bed side cabinet. Water pressure in sink too high with the result that every time you turn on the tap you get covered in water. Reception advised us not to have breakfast in the hotel. Would be better value going to the nearby Weatherspoons.

No Restaurant as kitchen was closed after a 5 hour drive, no hot water, lights in the room did not work and phone in room did not work, but breakfast was nice.

I stayed in this hotel last night after flying from Australia to surprise family. I arrived one day early so of course needed a hotel stay. I landed at 7:00am and contacted the hotel at around 10am to ask if it would be possible to arrange early check in and I would be happy to be extra. The lady told me that it would be fine for me to come as early as I like. Upon arrival, everything was very fast and ran smoothly. I was given a key to my room and was surprised to find that they had given me an executive suite even though I paid for a standard room. As you can imagine after traveling for 30 hours — this was exactly what I needed! I was also very pleased about the free Wi-Fi. The next morning I went downstairs for breakfast and found everything was presented nicely and most important — it was fresh and clean. I then explained to a different lady at reception that I wouldn't be able to to surprise my family until 4pm even though I had to check out by 12pm. I was told they would store my luggage for me and I am welcome to continue use of the hotel facilities — pool, gym etc. I have stayed at this hotel many times before although it had previous names/ owners. This by far has been my most pleasant experience. All staff have been very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely recommend!

5 days stay was great. Friendly staff and service. Spacious rooms cleaned daily. Thanks Vicki, Paul and all the other staff for a lovely stay. Home from home.

Had quite a weird experience staying here this weekend. We were checking in when the lady mentioned she knew my brother then started being awkward and ending the conversation quite awkwardly, weird facial expressions etc. Also then both ladies laughing at my email address? Later on went to the restaurant, we were the only ones in there. I ordered sausage and mash, boyfriend ordered pepperoni pizza. While waiting for the food the receptionist came in and was chatting to the waitress and then were both staring at us. Food came, nothing special about the sausage and mash, was just kind of like a microwave meal. Prosecco leaked and quite a bit of it went everywhere. I ordered a "cheese and pickle sandwich with tortillas" to the room, which came with just slabs of cheese, no pickle, no tortillas, just leaves on the plate. Early Sunday morning about 5 o'clock, the fire alarm went off really loudly, and flashing, is there really any need for it And two single beds put together. Not a good experience at all, I have been here once before, which then was pretty nice. Won't be coming again.

Good value option close to McDonald's and lots of other restaurants. Some parts of the hotel could do with Maintenance, but otherwise all ok. Beds not too bad either. Little new kettle in room. Shower fluctuate a small amount. I would stay here again.

A nice hotel. Reasonable rates. The rooms were clean, although there were a few dead light bulbs. Food was OK. Staff were friendly.

Had a makeover since last visit. Room bright & airy, plenty of space. Leisur centre clean, as are all public areas. Staff friendly & welcoming. Good location for town centre, bus&rail stations.

Stayed in 323, no view, an opaque window. The best was good apart from it was two beds pushed together so there was an obvious join. Comfortable though. The shower was very good with only slight heat fluctuation. I didn't try anything else. Would stay here again. Large Clean room and friendly staff.

Amazing place! We stopped here after our wedding as a present in the executive suite it was lovely! Especially the jacuzzi bath! After coming home and looking at other places we could go, and debating the stress of going abroad or traveling far for a few days we decided to come back for another two nights in a double room. And once again everything was great! Oustanding rooms and excellent customer service by all colleagues! Would rate to anyone, even for a short break away from home. Brilliant prices for what you get including breakfast and the leisure facilities! Only thing I could recommend is a large bin for rubbish and quicker working air conditioning but never the less still doesn't change me 5* opinion! New favourite hotel!

Room was ok, but cold and we couldn't get the heater to work. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was Erm. I won't comment on that! Changing rooms for the swimming pool/gym where minging and looked liked they hadn't been cleaned for a while, but pool was nice and relaxing. Staff were friendly.

Great little place near to Langtree Park. A cross between a premiere inn and holiday inn. 10 min walk to stadium and Tesco. Nearby is a McDonalds (if you like that sort of food). KFC and a Papa Johns (they taste better than Dominoes). These places are also available to drive to.

Stayed half board 3 nights complained about cold food every night but on last night walked out of restaurant and went to nandos, rooms very dirty used condom wrapper at side of bed on arrival in my room so decided to leave it to see if cleaners would ever spot it they never did! I rather sleep on the street than stay here again no joking.

Stayed here on my wedding night, just after 9 am the following morning we are still in bed *knock nock* house keeping *door opening * as I get to the door in only my trousers, you'd think they would give the cleaners a list of occupied rooms to leave till later especially as breakfast finishes at 11 and checkout is 12. dissapointing.
