Fantastic food, and a lovely clean place with friendly staff.

We have just returned from the Star after a fantastic Sunday lunch meal for a special birthday.
Our table was decorated for us & the service we received from Millie, Tish & her team was impeccable and attentive 👌🏻
The food was absolutely delicious, we all feasted out and indulged in 3 courses (pictures of starter & dessert but didn’t get one of the Sunday dinner as I couldn’t wait to tuck into it 🙊) every single one was outstanding so much so we asked to see the chef Reece & George to personally thank them.
It was our first time for Sunday lunch and definitely won’t be our last!
We are looking forward to the next time we visit & trying some more of the gorgeous food the star has to offer 🤗 out of 10 I’d give it 12 ⭐️

Just watched on Four in a bed. Think Alistair was fantastic and certainly deserved to win. The way you handled yourself with "Heather Trott" and her minion showed real professionalism. I dont think I could of been so calm. Well done.

Went yesterday evening, had starters, mains & my girlfriend had pudding. Everything was lovely & trisha (? ) was bubbly & friendly which was really nice :) 100% worth the money and drive, such a lovely place.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff at The Star. We went for our first meal out last night after shielding. The measures put in made us feel safe and able to relax with our meal. As usual food and drinks were very good.

Super quiet lovely place to stay. Friendly, very clean and lovely rooms. Staff attentive and friendly. Food sensational even a simple salad was fantastic! Stayed 2 nights as joined my son and daughter in laws wedding party really made our wedding weekend a bonus, lovely. Highly recommended. Beautiful village location to. May be back…?

Need to book, bar gets very busy and crowded because it's mostly seating for eating. Mostly very good food and service.

Really nice place, clean and posh room, great breakfast and friendly staff. Even had a bath! 4 stars because I was in a room that had a whirring noise — sounded like an old electric meter — that kept me up a little bit. But really lovely other than that :)

A good restaurant with a great food choice. My burger buns was slightly over toasted but still delicious and everyone else's was fine.

The most beautiful country pub in a quaint quiet village — perfect. Only had a drink but the menu looked fab and will definitely be returning.

We had an excellent Christmas meal here. We were given small complementary pre-starters which were relish. The real starter, smoked salmon, was fabulous and we were entertained by a magician who was very convincing! The mains, both turkey, were lovely. I really liked how, on the plate, we just had slices of meat (my husband had pigs in blankets but I’m GF) and a few roast potatoes. The greens came in separate dishes which meant you could help yourself to how much you wanted rather than it being piled high on your plate. Unfortunately there were no gf puddings but the cheeses were delicious. Between the starter and main we had a Champaign sorbet to cleanse the palette. And to finish a complementary liquor. Would definitely recommend and if we are here next year, go back again for Christmas lunch.

Atmospheric gastronomic pub with good choice of beers and extensive menu offering good value and great Beef Wellington. Attentive staff and will return.

Full of Wana bes and bar flies Bar staff are on sleeping pills. I imagine a prison cell is more inviting than this place. Only visit this pub if you think you are upwardly mobile and have a substantial overdraft.

All of the family went for Sunday lunch here and there were only 2 or 3 others in the restaurant. However, we still waited for over 45 minutes for any food to be brought out to us. The waitresses sat behind the curtain laughing and tittering. The food was ok. Hardly any gravy though and the veg left a lot to be desired — rock hard carrots and hard baby sweet corn is not ideal for a Sunday roast. Unfortunately 6 out of the 14 of us were all rather ill with sickness during the evening following the meal so not a good time in general. Also very overpriced for the amount & quality of the food. Won't be eating here again.

What a find, how can a small village have a gem of a pub like this. Fantastic food and real friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back here. Food was really presented well like something from Masterchef but better.

We're regulars for drinks at the Star and it's always a great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is always very popular too. The quiz on Sunday evenings is great!

Great village pub. Stayed the night in a large lovely room with a comfortable bed with a awesome shower. Had dinner, which was very good, best steak for a while. The staff were all good & competent. Three ales on tap, which were well kept. Feather pillows would have been nice though.

Great little gastropub in a small village, food is fantastic and staff there are very friendly. Only negative would be that it would be nice to have the normal menu available on the weekends as well, but the a la carte menu during that time is just as good. Highly recommend if you want great English good of a high quality!

The Star Inn has an old country pub feel, but us definitely very modern and not your average "old man's pub". The menu is a bit small, but where lacking in variety they do make up in quality. The food is well made and the sides compliment the mains well. The desserts are pretty nice too. The only thing I wasn't completely impressed with was the espresso, which wasn't bad, but definitely didn't live up to the food.

The staff are very welcoming and the drinks and the food are very good.

Decor lovely, service a little slow. Asked for pink beef but all came brown, over cooked. Overall though, a nice experience.

We found a real gem with this well furnished, well managed and very well priced village Inn. We normally stay in the city and book early to get a competitive price but couldn't this time so we decided to move out of the city and into a county village for a change, we couldn't have found a nicer place. We did read the reviews and like one person that gave his view we thought we would give it a chance and let me say we weren't disappointed, the furnishings were to a standard of a De Vere hotel, we had dinner and the service was second to none and the food was a gourmet cuisine. We were met by the management when we arrived gave a quick fire safety talk and shown to our room with well stocked tea and coffee later a member of staff came and asked if we were OK and gave us a complimentary biscuit and cake, nice touch, we went down late for dinner to a very busy restaurant but we found the management and staff were in sink with each other (which makes a change) found us a table within 10 minutes. I could go on but I will let you find it for yourselves and hope you find it to the same standard as we did. Brilliant.

It's the best pub in the world.

Very disappointed with the service, ignored on arrival and sat in the bar area on a table far too big. Had to order our own drinks from the bar and service slow. No side plates for bread, had to take some from the opposite table. Food was nice, but the price is high for a local village pub, I pay the same in London for better. Shame, as its a gorgeous interior and I love Thrussington village. Wont be back in a hurry I am sorry to say.

Been twice and from my experience it is a bit hit and miss. First time was spot on, all of the food was up to scratch. We had a party of 10 people and we had a brilliant time and were well looked after. Second time the fish batter was too heavy and had no crunch to it and the creme brulee was overcooked. There were also problems with some of the other dishes served. The beer is decent and the atmosphere in the bar is great — but for the price I would say there should be more consistency in the quality of the food. It is also my opinion that if a dish is cooked incorrectly and the staff are in agreement with this fact, then simply removing the dish from the bill is not satisfactory and the customer should really be compensated with a free replacement, or perhaps a complimentary glass of wine. That said, I will definitely go back and give the place another chance, as the bad experience might just have been a one off.

Service was fairly friendly unfortunately though very slow when we visited. The food arrived very quickly and was nice and a good price. I have to say the pub was a bit cold to the point of uncomfort. While Nicely decorated throughout it felt quite hard and could do with some softening features. Would I visit again?. Not sure nothing stood out really either food or atmosphere / surrounding / service enough to drag me back.

I have now been to The Star Inn 1744 Thrussington about 6 times in the last couple of months. I believe it has changed hands in the last 6 months. Great home cooked food at Great prices. I would would recommend the Sunday Lunch especially and they pudding are amazing. Warm and friendly service.
