Just had a 2 night breakaway here and was not disappointed at all. Room was lovely and big, staff were very friendly and the food was to die for, portion sizes were massive and the quality of the food was amazing, would definitely recommend staying here, xx.

Great food, plus 50% off between 17:30-19:30. Rooms, which are at the back of the restaurant, are very comfortable. I was only there for one night due to working in the area. The staff can't do enough for you…

Excellent service by assistant manager… Just turned up as getting tired driving, busy saturday night, had not pre-booked. Was given a room at a more than reasonable price. Rooms spacious, and across car park so not above bar, no noise what so ever. Bathroom and bed both clean, no dust found on surfaces in room. Only 2 recommendations- 1. Larger TV in rooms would be better but not essential as mini TV hard to see from bed. 2. New telephone wire for phone, slightly discoloured.

Stayed for one night when I went go open water diving at Capernwray. Must say the services is excellent and food is very good too. The manager Paul is very helpful and sincere from start. Also thumb up for Anthony serving in the morening, full Lake District English breakfast is tasty.

Great meeting room upstairs set up as a board room for around 15 people. We had some Excel training in there and it was ideally suited for this. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Thank you to Paul for organising and making it run smoothly.

Smartly refurbished as a superb contemporary pub-restaurant. Excellent food and service.

Good food but staff a bit forget full and slow. But the food was worth the wait.

Visited the resturant for lunch and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. I walked in with all my trucker gear on, given how nice it looks I was expecting high prices and snobby staff wondering why I was there, instead what I got was incredibly friendly staff, a very reasonably priced and tasty meal in comfortable surroundings. It's not the biggest resturant but that adds to it's charm. Well worth a visit.

My boyfriend brought me here for dinner on New year's Eve. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were very helpful. I feel the menu was slightly lacking in options, but the food we did have was to a great standard and very affordable.

We've heard good reports so decided to try it out ourselves. The menu is not too big nor too pricey. The mains are very typical but some starters a bit more interesting. We actually had 2 starters and then 2 more as mains… chicken liver parfait was a bit tangy but nicely presented and the ham hock crocquets were very good but the the poached egg should have been runny. Their fish cakes were very nice and pretty with a side salad, whilst the baked camembert was overfaced with garlic studding and a modest 145g portion but again a lovely-looking plate and fun to eat. I'd come again and try the carvery in a Sunday.

Good Venue for big parties. Little bit plain.

Had the carvery this evening choice of three roasts and lots of vegetables to choose from with more if required. Good value for money, pleasant surroundings and good service can highly recommend.

Great location in center of town. The room we stayed in was huge for this kind of accommodation. Rooms could do with a bit of tlc but nothing major. The bar and restaurant look really good, food is good and prices aren't over the top.

Food and service both good had a little bit of a wait but nothing more than expected on a busy Sunday lunch.

Food was good but service was poor. When the mains were cleared I asked for the dessert menu. 20 minutes later we just asked for the bill instead, paid and left.

Ian General Manager who has not long taken over and Sandra … are so nice The County is lovely inside a fabulous dinning room … good food … nice staff … We sat and had food in the bar as we had our dog with us … we could not get a taxi that would take the dog so lan and Sandra came to our rescue and drove us back to Tewitfield Marina where we were staying … We went back the following night and had a lovely meal in the dinning room … well worth a visit.

Nicely done out and potential to be great I don't like giving 4 stars but could definitely improve on portion sizes especially for the kids burgers actually measures at about 4cm food presentation good but meals cold a couple of times.

Excellent visit, lovely room and very accommodating staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, breakfast and the Sunday carvery were of a high standard and morning coffee and cake on £1.75! Great value for money, would definitely recommend and hopefully come back again. Great weekend visit.

Attentive staff, warm welcoming atmosphere and a lovely cooked breakfast. Rooms where well cleaned and provided with basic amenities like tea coffee and ample towels. Would stay again.

Friendly staff, I liked the ploughmans lunch, will stay again.

Awful manager was rude to us refused is a refused as half of our group of 11 order food and then refused other half saying it'll take an hour to cook as of a booking but won't refunded the other half as it was cookin was very rude staff from the start wouldn't recommend to anyone.

We stopped for a bite to eat on Wednesday, lovely starter of king prawns, next I ordered the Thai green curry, I would say this was nothing more than a cup-a-soup with a green chilli sliced into it, there was no flavour or spice to be had. When we gave feed back we were told this was the first attempt at making it.

Dropped in because we wanted somewhere to eat and the parking was easy! Turned out to be a good decision. Good food, well cooked, and very reasonably priced! Good beer too. My reason for not applying 5 stars is only because the decor is in need of a refurb. Sounds picky now I've written it down! So I've changed it to 5 stars. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I stayed on business and found the staff to be very friendly, the food great, the breakfast super and would happily stay again at this hotel. For the price the rooms in the annexe are very roomy, clean and pleasant. I didn't get a chance to see any of the rest of the town, but I'd imagine that it's an ideal base for sightseeing.
