This lovely hotel and the wonderful front-of-house staff are let down by poor catering. Reception staff are charming and helpful and always ready to go the extra mile for you. Could not fault them in any way. The rooms are lovely with wonderful airy bathroom and individual styling (no corporate look here). However. Could do with a fridge in the room as it was sizzling when we were there. Great air-con, though. Huge and very comfortable bed. Lovely. Strange positioning of TV! Service in Zagatos is dreadful — very friendly staff but so slow and making repeated mistakes (asked for hot lobster and got cold lobster. When pointed out it was taken away and brought back ten minutes later. STILL COLD… we put up with it! And how many times should you have to get up out of your seat to find out what's going on. We weren't in a hurry but. Hey! Come on guys! Smallest lobster I have ever seen! Breakfast staff with attitude. Oh my. And when the pastries run out by 8.15am it's pretty poor really. Asked for decaff coffee and was told it's only instant. Really? the regular coffee that my wife had was grey and ghastly. How come you can't get this right when hotels at half the rate do all the time? Asked for a slice of bread and another rack of toast came out. Said that it was "bread" I wanted. Greeted with unbelieving looks and a reluctant trip back to the kitchen. Really, really poor. My brother asked for a Full English with some taken away and I seriously though the waiter was taking the micky he was so rude. I do hope the Spa management read these because a great hotel is being badly let down by the restaurants. It took the edge off our stay.
