A wonderful hotel in a very central position to everything you want to see. Helpful staff, lovely clean rooms, good breakfast. And last but not least delicious cocktails 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Lovely place and great staff.

Had a lovely stay here recently with my husband. We opted for the cosy double and it was plenty big enough for our three night stay. The staff were helpful and the hotel clean and tidy and well equipt, would definitely recommend, especially due to its location, it was just a couple of minutes walk to lovely restaurants and great things to do within seconds of the door.

Very friendly management and staff. One would think their prices are out of reach because it's a hotel. No. My comparison with most gigs in Canterbury shows that one can enjoy quality time at Fallstaff for less. Falilities are clean. So from the staff at the front, inside till you leave, it's just peace of mind all the way. I highly recommend Fallstaff. — Gift.

Just got back after 2 nights away. Had our room upgraded to a lovely junior suite. Room was spacious and clean and and bathroom was lovely. Bed was so big I was lost in it and needed a taxi to find the other half. Free wi fi that worked perfectly, fresh towels on day 2 and given extra toiletries. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The bar had a lovely atmosphere and the cocktails are great, even managed to get one made that wasn't on the menu so I could have banana! Would definitely returned recommend Picture was my very pretty pina colada.

Cocktails are nice but unfortunately the kitchen did not take their cross contamination procedures so seriously as my celiac friend almost ate a wheat based pizza that was placed in front of them, despite ordering a GF pizza. I also observed one of the bar staff shouting at a customer who forgot to wear a face mask whilst walking past the bar. I fully appreciate that law and I fully support it too. I would however question if someone who works in H&M or someone who works in say Pizza Express would have the audacity to shout at a customer ‘WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC’.

Lovely afternoon tea yesterday, really great customer service and a special little cake for my birthday which was a lovely touch.

Enjoyed a couple of cocktails, a little too much lime for what I normally have, but still nice and great presentation by the staff.

Had afternoon tea with my mum partner and son here today and it was amazing the waiter we had went above and beyond with anything we asked was funny and kind and even made my son a special drink to mix together and he thought it was a potion. Would highly recommend.

The staff really can’t be faulted as they bend over backwards to help. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and only a short walk from Canterbury city centre.
The hotel bar offers a wide range of drinks and cocktails along with a fantastic afternoon tea.
If you stay here you really have to try the breakfast as it’s second to none and has something for everyone, from a continental meal to a full on English breakfast.
The Falstaff is the only place I’d stay when I visit Canterbury!

Always a good time at the Falstaff. Great selection of Beers, Wines and Spirits. All of the bar staff are friendly, entertaining and excellent mixologists.

Beautiful olde worldie hotel in the centre of Canterbury. It has an amazing bar with lots of craft beers and a big selection of Gin. And the rooms are stunning x.

First time here and will most definitely be back. Think the guys name was George who looked after us but a true example of what customer service is, thank you for looking after us! Afternoon tea was delicious and the surprise plate was the perfect touch ❤️

Apparently, you can't drink in their reception! No reason given. If I pay £11 for a couple of drinks I'd expect to sit behind reception! No Rose in the menu although not available anymore. Bar staff unaware of customers. Dirty front lamps.

I have just spent the afternoon having afternoon tea which was beautiful! Sat outside in the lovely quiet garden area. Helpful and friendly staff! Highly recommend.

I stayed here back in September. I am a regular visitor at least once a year and use the hotel for business and pleasure. I had previously put a bad review on earlier in the year but since then the changes made have been exceptional. I am very pleased the hotel listened to my feedback and they have improved, even excelled. I recommend the boutique style rooms for a couples stay. The staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast is much better as is the general feel of the place. Well done Falstaff. Top marks!

Nice hotel in the city centre of Canterbury. Everything in walking distance, parking available in the back of the building. Breakfast was good, but you had to wait for some things to be refilled.

Was impressed by it's look initially then again by it's very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in one of the apartments in the out building, which I did not know until we booked in BUT that was ok until we got into the room. It was cold and dark, and may be too chintzy for our taste. Clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast was abit of a gamble. Gamble, if you got what you, had to go and find a waitress, and ask for! Slightly frustrating watching the waitress bring each item individually for a tea I'd asked for, first pot of tea, followed by milk, followed by sugar and finally a spoon. Tho staff were lovely and apologetic for the mayhem. I would most definitely recommend and hopefully return myself for another stay one day. Very much enjoyed Canterbury.

I've stayed at The Falstaff Hotel a few times now as I really like it there and always have a comfortable stay. Check-in is always effortless, and when I got to my room, there was a lovely bar of chocolate waiting for me as a return guest! Nice touch, I thought. The rooms are always well turned down, and the beds comfortable. The staff are really friendly too, but the thing I really like is the hotels cocktail bar. Huge selection if drinks, and a very knowledgeable set of staff, without being overly pretentious. Will definitely come back, again!

Great value for money. Friendly restaurant & bar staff. Recently redecorated public and accommodation areas. Good food. The cocktail bar is also staffed by people who know their trade. This was our third stay and we will without doubt return.

Rooms are cosy and comfortable, however, windows were in need of repair. Very helpful, kind staff! Super location in town center. Great breakfast. Definitely recommended.

Went for afternoon tea with our newborn. Nice place, comfortable decor, quiet. Amazing craft beer selection… even though we weren’t there for that! Cheap afternoon tea at £15. It was average. Basic sandwiches and selection of tray bake cakes (not what you expect at afternoon tea). Scones were billed to be warm, they were not and therefore a little dry too. Overall decent experience, but food could be refined a little.

We had the afternoon tea, was lovely and good value for money. Will definitely be visiting them again. Staff were very friendly.

Booked afternoon tea for my mother in laws birthday today. There was 6 of us. The customer service was disgusting. Every single person that served us was rude! We had 4 pots of tea with one milk between us all and when asked for more they looked bluntly and said there was some on our table and when we said it had run out she rolled her eyes and after a minute she said she would bring some over which seemed like such a effort! This also happened when we asked for more cream and jam because we only had one pot for all of us! There was very little food for the price we paid! I asked for another plate of sandwiches she looked at me for a minute and didn’t really respond! My sister in law asked if they had baby changing then said err no then when my sister questioned her about it she said oh yes we do actually! Everything about our experience there was awful! They wasn’t even busy we were the only people in there! I wouldn’t recommend going here to anyone! I would of rather of paid more and gone somewhere else!

We had a lovely afternoon tea today for my Aunties birthday. The staff made us both feel very special and the tea, cakes and sandwiches were yummy too. The service was very friendly and smiley. We will definitely return. Thank you.

Nice hotel but some convoluted routes to the rooms. Good bar with great bar staff. Breakfast ok nothing special.

All public areas fantastic, the bar is exceptional in style and selection. However, some of the rooms could do with some regeneration works. Staff were all helpful and breakfast had plenty of option with good quality food. Would be first choice for staying in Canterbury.

Very friendly people. Lovely clean room. Free parking, Wi-Fi and breakfast. The only very small downside is not being in the main building and negotiating stairs. But it got me more steps today ☺

Lovely lovely place. The staff were very efficient and friendly with a great atmosphere. The rooms with there four poster beds were as good as any twice there price. Look forward to stopping there again.

Have been going for our anniversary for the last six years. It has been updated yet retains its old world charm. Very handily placed for Canterbury city centre. Parking is very useful. Always enjoy the breakfast.

A really excellent experience. A newly refurbished bar and dining room staffed by very well trained helpful staff. Rooms are comfortable and service generally is top notch.

Lovely quirky but historic hotel. Incredible bar and very special barman Kirk who does special cocktails.

This was our first visit to The Falstaff since it had been refurbished… We loved it the first time and loved it even more this time. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and perfectly situated to explore Canterbury. Breakfast was excellent and the cocktail bar was a nice treat too.

Date night with girlfriend with pre and after dinner cocktails, bar staff were friendly with great conversations to be had. Will definitely be back for more! Good job guys!

Nice interior to lobby and bar but everything else suffers as a result! Room was incredibly shabby; holes in the wall, open ended cables protruding, unfinished plaster work etc. The room (35) was cold and incredibly noisy being on a main road and car park entrance. The emergency information was out of date as it had the room listed as number 34 and in a different location in the building. Breakfast, "guaranteed to be the best in all of Canterbury" was a joke; we waited 10 mins for coffee, which was delivered without cups or milk, and an overall wait of more than a hour for hot food, which when it did arrive was nothing more than tepid baked beans. There was no milk for the cereal and no fresh fruit on offer at all, only tinned fruit cocktail. There was nothing even vaguely average about this breakfast, let alone close to being the "best" of the best. Hugely disappointed with this stay, very surprised at the cost considering the rooms are unfinished and the breakfast can't actually guarantee anything other than having to go elsewhere to eat after checkout.

Very good service, wonderful atmosphere, warm and cosy. Just had a pot of green tea. Good quality tea, nicely presented in a good size tea pot.

Lovely hotel close to the centre of town. Smart cocktail bar. Breakfast first class. Accommodation very comfortable. Not expensive.

Great place to stay. Within walking distance of the entire town. Clean and good service.

Cold room no heating in October. Room smells damp, hidden by a wall plugged in air freshener. The decoration looks tired. Although this is an old building it could be a travel lodge in the bedroom because no beams are showing, such a shame. Nobody seems particularly friendly at the hotel. Over priced I paid £89. Best points Wi-Fi is good and so is the breakfast free parking too. Near town.

Totally disappointing. Avoid Room 32. The room had a Totally rather worrying damp smell and although the bathroom was refurbished, the room itself was tired and jaded. The location of the hotel is excellent for exploring the city but this room is situated on the ground floor on a busy road and next to a very noisy pub. It desperately needs double glazing… we had revellers outside our window until the early hours. The milk jiggers were off and the towels dirty! We managed to get a parking space but it is limited and the sign on the car park tells you you will have to find a public car park. Breakfast was ok but not impressed with tinned fruit cocktail rather than fresh fruit salad. Pastries were stale. When we advised staff at reception of our concern no recompense was offered. We were offered 10 per cent off a future stay… you must be kidding!

Subjected to a vile tirade from bar staff for asking to pay with Amex. The barman clearly thinks he's very clever and witty, but I don't think humiliating customers is ever good business practice. The volume of his rant meant that everyone else in the bar could hear. I know some people are against paying with amex, but I think a polite "I'm sorry, we don't take American Express" would suffice for this situation. Maybe you get so much trade you think you can get away with being so rude to paying customers, but I will certainly never return.

Loud bar and doors slamming until 3 in the morning — which we could hear 2 flights up. Staff apparently oblivious to any problem. Just no.

Trendy, with a great selection of craft beers, whiskey and gin. Decent background music, creating a nice drinking environment. Competing with, and in my opinion better than The Pound.

Booked for afternoon tea. Arrival was a bit confusing as no-one visible so went to reception but that was only for booking in for hotel, so not an easy start however the tea and service was lovely and even though scones were not available this was instantly sorted with free prossecco and extra cakes. Waiter excellent.

I came to the falstaff today for a Mother's Day treat of afternoon tea. We lasted an hour. The bread was stale, we had a hair in one of our cakes and the service was poor. Due to an uneven table my nan unfortunately knocked her full, untouched cocktail over. The waiter explained that he would replace this if we paid £5 even after we had expressed that we found a hair in our food. There was not enough sandwiches for the 5 of us and when we asked for more the waiter brought out 2 quarters of one sandwich, one white and one brown. When we questioned the charge for the replacement drink the waiter said "we didn't charge you for the extra sandwiches" which quite frankly seemed incredibly pathetic considering there would have been 3 quarters of 'the sandwiches' that we didn't receive. Upon receiving the bill there was absolutely no discount or apology after stressing our disappointment. Having previously had afternoon tea here which we did enjoy, this experience was unpleasant and what seemed like a waste of money. The cakes were left untouched. The one star I am leaving in this review was for the tea which I made myself.

Was here briefly for drinks; the service was fine, with a solid beer selection and well made cocktails. Prices and quality overall were decent. Worth visiting.

Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating despite the issues we had with payment (we thought it was prepaid on my mum's card. It wasn't and we didn't have her card with us so couldn't pay like that). Rooms were sweet only problem was the shower kept going cold but never freezing or scaulding temperatures. Breakfast was amazing Lovely place to stay if you're visiting Canterbury.

Excellence location, friendly staff, tasty food, clean and comfy rooms. Comes with parking and only 2 minutes walk to the town centre.

Visited for our annual Christmas get together and wow has it changed since last year! Main building interior has been completely renovated and is now a hip bar that's now very busy compared to the quiet place we were used to! Staff were lovely and accommodating and breakfast was amazing quality. I'd say the only negative I could think of is that as it is now a hip place, there's no lounge area for residents, so it's a first come first served for seating spac, but hats off to The Failsafe, they have done an amazing job in such a short space of time!

Worst service from any hotel I have stayed at. No hot or continental breakfast available. Security of rooms very poor, windows do not shut. Entry to main hotel via fire exit that is left open most of the time. Workmen in hotel working from 6.30am until 2.00am. Refurbishment materials left in hotel were guests have access in a dangerous and unsafe state. No discount for inconvenience.

Clean, cosy and friendly. The only down point is the quality of the mattresses.

This hotel is amazing, the best of all is the Brazilian manager. Hot boy he is! Be careful with bobby the Romanian he bites.

The staff is really friendly, especially the duty managers who are serving in the bar as well in the evening time.
