All the staff were lovely however the hotel is very dated, the room had lots of cracked tiles in the bathroom, damp on the ceiling and missing cupboard handles. The corridors to and from reception were clean but shabby.

Booked for my birthday, 3hour wait for food and after 20mins of us ordering 3 courses that we ordered were unavailable! Only 1 choice of starter left to pick. Staff we very friendly and apologetic but for our first night out since lockdown it was very disappointing. Let’s hope breakfast is available in the morning!

Had a lovely evening at a friend’s do here on Sunday. Great service, food and surroundings.

Excellent accommodation and the room was very clean, we also got a very good deal with the golf and meals included.

Comes highly recommended, our room was large and very clean we had room 405 top floor. V spacious. We got a fantastic deal. Boys played golf while girls used spa. Boys loved the 18 hole course and played two days. We enjoyed spa although not as clean as would have expected. Food menu was stunning, outstanding dinner and good choice buffet breakfast. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only staff member to let team down was the duty manager Dean who really needs to have some customer service training and how to treat staff better. I would give overall 4 stars.

Lovely hotel in great setting. If possible, get the rooms in the old part of the hotel due to the character of them. Breakfast is good, too.

Great Hotel. On the whole the service was good. A few issues. No hot water one night. Hotel blamed the water company. But hotel is in control of water temp. Water company only supplies the water. All room keys were cancelled. But food was great.

A female member of staff that was checking us in had a face like thunder and evidently was not happy to serve. This was around 1:30pm when we arrived. I was one of the many guests that attended a wedding on Thursday 24th August. I was afraid to ask a couple questions since she would have probably bit my head off. I can not say the same for the catering staff. They were totally friendly and smiling, how it should be for all paying guests. Around midnight the same date, I had went to front desk requesting a wake up call at 4:30am due to an international flight I was taking that morning and had to be on time of course. I did not get my alarm call and luckily I by chance got up 10 minutes after 4:30 and hurried out of the room. I did confront the male staff member without being rude saying I did not receive a wake up call at the time requested. He responded with a defensive manner saying he did set the wake up call alarm instead of apologizing. My phone did not ring and I am a light sleeper! Will not recommend my pet rat.

Smart comfortable hotel in quiet parkland/golf course. Ample parking. Rooms are of a good size with huge beds and roomy ensuites. I always stay here when working locally. Swimming pool, gym and spa on site. Food is good, breakfast is excellent. Jean is wonderful and makes you feel at home at breakfast.

The health club and swimming pool are dirty and old and in real need of tlc. I certainly would expect more from a hotel health club. The pool has mould on the tiles. Blown windows. Rust on doors and the steps into the pool are dirty. There is paint peeling off walls and everything looks like it needs a good scrub! Avoid this place. The staff are unhelpful and just want your money.

We had our wedding here in July 2018. The interior of the manor suite is quite shabby. Doors, sockets and switches, bar, ceiling tiles, windows, blinds and walls seem like they haven’t been upgraded since the 90’s. For the price of £10k there are much nicer venues in the area — worth a look before booking this place as your wedding venue. … What really lets this place down is the staff. We paid a deposit for the venue in January 17 (19 months prior to our event). Throughout the wedding build up we were being faced with problems from the “events team” and nobody in the “events team” has a clue on how to manage this place. Their staff turnover is worse than Theresa May’s cabinet and you feel like you’re constantly coming to hurdles with them. Several days before the wedding they called asking me to pay the final balance of £4K which was paid in full 2 months prior to the wedding — something quite wrong with the accounts team! Upon arrival one of our parents was denied a bottle of water in the hotel because they were unable to provide a holding deposit at the time. Bearing in mind we had paid tens of thousands prior to arrival and booked most of the hotel rooms for our guests, they were treated in this. This is a 3 star venue from the 90’s and I would strongly advise those looking to book it as a wedding venue to avoid it. In the end, we used the venue as we didn’t have a choice of booking anywhere else.

A great improvement from the last time we stayed there. This time the staff were smart, friendly, and helpful, plus our room was wonderful. Thank you for our complimentary stay.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. We booked with a gift voucher. They offered us a room in the basement of the modern side of the hotel to begin with, but were happy to give us a room on the first floor when we asked. The pool and changing rooms were being upgraded, but it didn't spoil our swim. Dinner was enjoyable despite a mix up with the drinks, which were then scratched from the bill — thank you. At breakfast, the restaurant was full, so we were directed to join the wedding party in the main part of the hotel. Enjoyed the stay — the classic part of the manor house looked and felt a much nicer place to stay in — do ask for that if there's not a wedding going on.

The venue and location is very nice. We went for a event and had a meal the food was good but dessert was slow to arrive. The DJ and live music was very good.

Nice hotel and pleasant staff. Food was good and great selection. We went to this hotel for a hen spa weekend. This was NOT a spa hotel. Despite the advertising indicating a spa it was in fact a leisure centre. The pool had children's swimming lessons occuring until 5pm and there was no area to relax or loungers. When we raised this with the staff they admitted that there may have been some 'confusion' however I'd argue that this was more a case of false advertising! If I had just been staying here for a function I'd have been very happy unfortunately however, this 'spa hotel' fell somewhat short of expectations.

We stayed a night on a weekday at the manor and had a lovely time. All the staff were very friendly, professional and nothing was a problem for them. We had dinner and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed the meals. The use of the health centre with the gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room was an added bonus. Would readily recommend this hotel.

Rooms are ok, but expensive, however the food is not of a particularly high standard for the price. The bar area is part of the reception and is soulless.

I have been an on and off Member of the Manor of Groves Health Club for many years. The facilities are good, and the Jacuzzi is great… when its working, SO MANY times it is NOT WORKING. The Membership is very expensive as it is, and this is not good enough.!

Stayed as overnight guest, room very comfortable and well presented, lovely location, very picturesque. Staff are very friendly and helpful, gym okay, nice sized with a good selection of equipment but very dated and would benefit from an update. Same with the pool area, excellent sized but in desperate need of a refurbishment. Overall reasonably priced and I would possibly stay again. With a little investment this place could be amazing.

The venue was nice but had trouble with the amount of food. The spa is great. Lots of classes on throughout the day.

Lovely place, friendly staff, and lovely dining. However, the rooms did feel a bit dated as though they need redecorating.

We visited for a family celebration. Our visit was perfect. Function room was set up lovely. Our meal wad served hot and the 3 courses were all delicious. Coffee and tea afterwards was perfect too in the way you were able to go andvget your own when you needed to. All staff were very polite too. A perfect afternoon for a special family celebration.

The location is too remote, the front entrance isn't on Google maps so it's hard to find the right entrance. I am sure it's a great location for a short break or a golf trip. But for a conference it just doesn't make sense. The plus side is that the lunch spread was good and the staff were helpful.

It’s the second time our group of 12 did hard clubbers have had our New Year’s party & it wasn’t as good as 2016/7. I know some of our group didn’t enjoy the music the DJ played but it’s what it is: he kept the floor full. I was surprised at the menu choice, it was a bit spartan & lacking & organisational of the queue too wasn’t great. Two of our group were ill the next day& that’s not down to drink. May have to rethink our next New Years do! … On the plus sides the room was lovely, warm, cosy & spacious! Breakfast was hearty & the gym & poolside facilities were excellent too. We’ve come up just to use these last two facilities especially at least once a month!

The food is excellent. To reach just a little bit difficult when you are without a car there. Friendly, helpful staff.

The hotel is nice. The spa is a disaster though. The men’s sauna was cold, apparently it was broken but they didn’t tell customers before they went in, nor did they seem too bothered about fixing it. Saturday afternoon and it’s full of kids and swimming lessons too. I had a massage, the room was cold and girl giving me the massage had ice cold hands. She needs more training in giving massages, I can’t say anything good about it. Very sloppy massage and facilities. You need to do better.

My daughter crashed her car here last weekend whilst trying to exit the car park. The photographs I have added clearly prove that the hotel is at fault here by having a unkempt hedge bordering the exit point which is on a bend in the drive. Your car has to be half way out of the car park exit before you can see if there is anything coming up the drive way by which time it's to late. The hotel have several options to improve safety at this point but clearly are not interested in customer safety. Option one would be to chop the hedge to a safe height, option two would be to fit a mirror on the opposite side of the road to assist visibility and option three would be to make that exit a entry point only eradicating problems altogether. For a hotel to demonstrate such contempt for customer safety before you even walk through the door is in my opinion extremely poor, fortunately there were no injuries sustained only the inconvenience of car repairs and no claims bonus being lost. Manor of groves you should be ashamed.

Lovely staff and great venue but rooms need updating. Couldn't use the pool as a children's class was taken place. Jacuzzi was out of order. I wouldn't stay here again.

Beautiful location, loved the golf course at our disposal, service was fantastic and room immaculate.

Went here for a Stag golf event with some fellow golfers. After a small issue checking in, the weekend was great. Beautiful course. Good food and hotel nice. Drinks are way over priced. Bishops Stortford 10 mins in taxi.

Needs some love in the gym area, there always seems to be an issue. Could be a couple of broken machines, or a leaking roof.

We had another great cream tea experience, plenty of food in a lovely setting. Unlimited tea / coffee — we had the sun lounge area all to ourselves and also wandered into the garden to sit in the shaded tables. The didn't rush us just left us to it, but popped back enough so that we could get fresh tea. Would definitely recommend and will come again. Might try the spa day experience next time as an add on!

Really surprised, golf course in very good condition and very tricky but rewarding. A round you need to think about not just a long drive on every hole. Greens were in great condition.

Venue is superb for a wedding. The main hall and facilities are great but some of the rooms are quite old, we unfortunately had to stay in one of the older rooms and the creaking from movement in the room above was incredibly loud even to the point of stopping us from sleeping. Discussed this on checking out of the hotel and was provided with an apology. Left name, email address and phone number. Shall see if they contact us to apologise.

I was at a very nice and quaint hotel wedding with very green and a beautiful golf course I stayed overnight good man ac air conditioning the.

Stayed as part of a overnight and unlimited golf deal. Dinner and drinks included in the price of under 90 per person. Cant beat that value and all in a good place to play golf and food a decent quality. Would stay again.

Nice scenery and setting, about all you can say for the place. The double rooms are just two single beds pushed together and nothing to write home about. First room they put us in was near the health club — sounded and felt like a rave was going on above with room vibrating. 3 times speaking to the front desk they finally offer to move us. In new room unable to adjust height of shower head which was stuck at the top, just OK for me at 6ft but useless for 5ft girlfriend. Had breakfast in the room, arrived 20min early while I was in the shower. To be honest it's just been lots of things adding up to a horrible experience. Insult to injury is the price they charge for it.

Came here for a works Party and it was nothing short of breathtaking. Rooms were spot on. Service was great. Food was great. Very impressed.

Ticks all the boxes and then some. Lovely food, rooms and staff. Real bonus is the spa facilities — Pool, Jacuzzi, Steam Room, Saunas and Gym. Some good dinner, bed and breakfast deals throughout the year also.

We are members of the Leisure centre, so today after swimming we went for the xmas Sunday lunch in the Hotel — was fantastic, excellent value for money, kids all got wonderful presents, even my baby got a present. Service, was faultless and with smiles each time they came to our table. Food was outstanding — definitely doing that again.

Staff here are friendly and polite. Shame our room was dirty, have a infestation of flies, shower head was not working properly due to limescale build up and damp marks on the ceiling. when complained with email (including photos) got a blunt reply from general manager which gave the impression this is all acceptable for this hotel. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
