Second stay at the Bedford Arms Hotel as we are visitng family in the neighbouring Rickmansworth area. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the grounds are beautiful, so calm and relaxing, we slept like logs on our first visit and the beds are so comfy. We also ate in their restaurant/bar and had breakfast, which again is second to none tasty and charming settings. Can not recommend enough.

For many Christmases my Son and Daughter in law and Twin Grandsons have come over and stayed from the States and we have caught up with friends. Our special Christmas place. I stayed at The Bedford Arms Hotel for work and what a stay it was❤️ The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating. They made us feel very welcome and couldnt do anymore for us if they tried. The food was amazing quality, all freshly made and simply divine. The gravy was out of this world. I have never tasted anything like it and would buy it by the bottle The prices were more than reasonable, considering how high quality it was. I stayed in the Sir John (I think it was called) room and it was huge, everything was fresh and clean. The bed itself was so comfortable. The period features were really a nice touch, although some could say its outdated, but I quite liked it, more character than an average hotel. The gardens looked stunning at night time especially and the whole place had a very relaxed vibe about it. I loved all the features across the hotel. There was always something for me to look at and be intrigued by. Overall, a really lovely stay and I would most definitely be back to stay. Especially, as they are only a stones throw from Harry Potter Studio Tour & Legoland.

I stayed here for work and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. I stayed in the John Russel which was very spacious, had lovely country views, a bath and overhead shower, TV and free Wi-Fi! Very useful for working from the room. The food was a real surprise. Very tasty, high quality and a very good price… especially for the quality. I had calamari, rump or lamb and chocolate brownie which I later found out was vegan… although I had no idea and it was delicious. The lamp was perfectly cooked and everything in all of the dishes was packed full of flavour but nothing over powered anything else but rather complimented the rest of the dish. The bar is very relaxed but has an air of country chic elegance. The dinning room where breakfast is served over looked the gardens which, even in chilly March, are well maintained. The staff and service could not be faulted. Friendly, professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. I visited for work but would happily drive the 2-3 hours for a break here with my hubby. Highly recommend.

Had our first wedding anniversary meal at the Bedford arms Saturday,, as it was our wedding venue, 26-5-2018 I still got the butterflies and loved it just As much, our meal was beautiful the ribeye steak to die for, all the staff were lovely too, remembered our wedding which was nice, Big Thankyou for a lovely evening, xx.

Always great service, staff always helpful and cheerful, food delicious and good number of choices. One of my favourite places to eat and a great place to stay if you fancy a weekend away treat.

Just dropped in for a pint of cider, which went down very well. There's plenty of outside seating in the extensive garden. Very pleasant indeed.

This is a very lovely place to have a wedding reception. I enjoyed the facilities. I would recommend it.

I am just back from a lunchtime get-together with four retired work colleagues. The place itself has ample parking, but the dining areas and facilities are a bit shabby. Some of us had starters which were ‘OK’. I had whitebait with a spicy mayonnaise which was quite tasty. The main course, however was reminiscent of a ‘school dinner’ — roast pork and crackling, overcooked roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding (you seem to get this with everything these days), nicely cooked vegetables and a “Bisto-like” gravy – nothing special for £16 odd. The staff were friendly but a bit amateurish. All in all just about OK, but unlikely to return in a hurry!

Stopped in for lunch at about 1:15pm in a Friday while doing the Chess Valley walk. Ordered the pie and seared tuna, and both were delicious! Lovely chunks of steak in the pie, while the tuna was full of flavour.

Fantastic hotel with excellent food (the Bedford pie in particular was fantastic) and incredibly helpful, attentive staff. Sorry no photos, but the hotel is tastefully decorated in a traditional style, in keeping with the style of building and area. Very highly recommended.

Good venue, good food, good accommodation and … Good heavens, just go there!

Am local, been twice recently, both times really poor experiences, mainly 'don't care' attitude / service. Delivery truck blocked 8 queued cars from leaving car park yesterday. Politely asked driver if we could get out, just said won't be long and carried on. Made to sit in cars for 15mins. Spoke to staff, then manager. Neither cared. Won't risk it a third time.

The rooms are to a very good standard. And the food was excellent I will hilly recommend.

Used to work there 25 years ago loved how the new owners have updated made the main bar a delightful to eat and drink in.

Called in for lunch on the off chance on 30/03/18 and noticed that most of the tables were reserved and were still able to give us a table.
Although we only had 2 starters of the fish sharing platter and the calamari it arrived promptly, excellent value for money. The portion sizes were more than sufficient and tasted great! Would definitely go back when in the area.

Fantastic food and a warm atmosphere on a cold & rainy Easter evening. Had the pleasure of dining here on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was warm and cosy, with a welcoming buzz due to the number of fellow diners. I had the honey glazed duck, served with dauphinoise potatoes and charred baby gem. The duck was perfectly cooked, remaining slightly pink in the middle, with a crispy skin. The dauphinoise potatoes were creamy and silky. Would reccommend The Bedford Arms for a cosy evening meal with friends. Make sure to reserve in advance as can be very busy, particularly at weekends.

Arrived about 2pm on Sunday and very lucky to get the last table (all the others were booked) Staff very attentive and food of a high standard. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or to recommend.

First impression of my room was good but then, the cobwebs and hairy floor in the bathroom took over which made for an uncomfortable experience.
The pub was cramped and the smell of bear put me off going for an overpriced breakfast.
This is one place that was not value for money. Attention to detail is definitely lacking here.

Lovely clean rooms. They have an all night bar and great selection of drinks. We had the after-party after the wedding.

The room was clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also had some nice views of the countryside from our windows. We stayed here whilst visiting Harry Potter Studios and it was an ideal location nice and close.

Attended a private dining function. We were asked to pre-order from a menu of three choices or course. The waiting staff were attentive and polite. The food was delicious. I had tomato soup, sea bass and pavlova. I can recommend all of these. The restaurant has a cosy warm décor that made for a comfortable dining experience.

A great place to stop for a drink. Best to book if you want food though. Use it regularly as great to sit outside and people watch.

Great atmosphere and surroundings. Food was lovely with good sized portions. Service was a bit slow but they were very busy so it's understandable. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Really poor value for money and food. Paid £7 for a caprese salad that was neither big, fresh or tasty. They use a Nespresso for their coffee as well. Really disappointed as it looks great from the outside. Wouldn't recommend.

This is a lovely place to stay. I spent Sunday afternoon basking in the sun (which I gather remains hidden a lot of the year) while enjoying a drink or three. Lovely clean rooms, with friendly and genuinely helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend it.

Just stopped by after a walk for a drink in the garden and a bowl of wasabi peas. The pub is beautifully kept, inside and out, with friendly staff. A lovely rural spot for a relaxing afternoon. There's also great smelling hand wash in the toilets!

Great room overlooking the fields next door. Great bathroom with spacious shower. Excellent food and service at breakfast time and at reception.

Good 3 star hotel. Breakfast, there was good choice, from full English to just fruit all as much as you like. Rooms good size, large beds and clean. The bars staff were sometimes not in the bar when needed as they were doing other things, but it was a Sunday night and only a few people in. The only down side was that there was a bit of noise that woke me at 5.20 am not sure if it was a delivery or a guest leaving. But I would stay there again as only 3 or 4 miles from the M25 and easy to find.

A comfortable and interesting old inn, with modern contemporary rooms in the old stables and more traditional rooms in the main house, decorated in a variety of historic styles. One of my favourite rooms had, as I recall, flock wallpaper, a four poster bed and cameos of Roman Emperors on the walls. The bar meals and the breakfasts are excellent.

Decor is beautiful and the service was good. My fish and chips were absolutely delicious but husband's pie was disappointing due to not being a traditional pie.

The service and room were fine. The cooked breakfast was a bit small.

I attended a wedding at this Hotel on Saturday 18th of September 2015. I was very Pleased with the reception we got from the Management and Staff, who may I say were excellent. The Band that played at the Wedding kept us all on our feet, which was great. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a little on the early side for people who were attending the wedding. I have no hesitation in Recommending this Hotel to anyone. Keep up the Good work.

Nice location, but the food is awful. Soup tasting like maizena, roast beef that's dark grey and completely overcooked and the cheapest super market ice cream for desert (the one with the intense artificial flavour that comes in 3 colors). Combine that with wines for laying down and avoiding and you've got the worst dinner in years.
