I had my 50th birthday party on Saturday September 11th here it was a great success would recommend the venue. Staff were so efficient on the night — DJ was fab and they even had a singer too. Great atmosphere.

We attended a baking workshop with the_messy. Baker. It was fabulous. I haven’t been to the Hotel since before lockdown and oh my goodness what a transformation. It feels so classy, Luxurious, an art deco twist … navy and gold, retro sofas… its an interior designers dream. If you havent seen the new decor pop in for a drink. Absolutely Beautiful.

Went in to book a Friday night table and then went to the bar and had a few drinks with barman Tik. Excellent cocktails great guy thoroughly enjoyed my evening. Classy inside and great staff.

With a super helpful team made this a birthday to remember. We stayed over in beautiful rooms followed by a breakfast party for my guests. It was all seamless. Loved it.

Great Hotel with excellent staff.

My wife and I always find it an amazing place. The landlady — Wendy always has a truly warm smile, which cascades to everyone working there! We strongly recommend and if you don’t like anything they’re willing to listen and make it all better.

Nice hotel, clean and tidy. The staff helpful and friendly. The hotels becomes a night club on the weekend, so perfect if you are in a mood for drinks and dance, but not so much if looking for a quiet night. The hotel is in the centre of town. Good breakfast and coffees.

Rude staff, all “managers” sit with there noses turned up like the sun shines out there backsides and have coffee while the young ones run around like headless chickens. There is An Italian server call Clenio who is so so rude to staff as well as customers, I used to stay here a lot but the last year it has gone down hill! I stayed a Friday night a few weeks ago and I saw the chef pick up bacon he had dropped on the floor to put on the plate and served straight away! yucky! Avoid at all costs!

Really nice budget hotel. Good service in room. Be careful on weekends DJ stay on till 2 am. Try to book room on top floor. Overall satisfied with price and service.

I attended a 40th birthday party downstairs and it was fantastic. I've hosted my own party down here and found the staff really helpful on the day and leading up to the day. Very relaxed about what you can and can't do, and are on hand to make the venue perfect and all run smoothly. Will use again if I need a venue for anything.

A tiny piece of East London cool in Hertford. If that makes sense, you should visit.

Excellent ambience and a great venue for a meeting. The peppermint tea was very refreshing.

Really good quality food and a good price, but the pancake stack for £6 is a bit of joke for three tiny pancakes.

Had a lovely stay. The room was extremely clean and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed on a Saturday night when the disco was on but knew about it before we booked and were looking forward to it, but it really wasn't our "thing" and the "boom. Boom. Boom" noise virbated through the hotel. We left the disco after an hour but could hear the constant boom. Boom. Boom in our room above till 2am. We will stay there again but not on a Saturday night. It's a shame that the restaurant doesn't serve any English food for an evening meal as my Husband only eats basic English food but the restaurant across the road was lovely. Highly recommend Hertford House, but not on a Saturday and not if you only eat English food. It's in a lovely quaint street and had been newly refurbished.

Good old building with good view to town centre. Slightly noisy cos of the road. Good pub restaurant with nice foods.

Clean and reasonably comfortable but very noisy location. The bed was very firm which may suit some but I'd have preferred something a bit softer. Good shower and good choice at breakfast.

Lunch at the Hertford house. Great service, quick, polite and friendly. 3 of us had the icky sticky sweet and sour chicken with rice, portions were large and very tasty. 1 had pulled pork burger and not a scrap left! All good would highly recommend it.

Nice cozy bar in the basement. Food very good and reasonably priced drinks. Staff were friendly. Receptionist didn't seem to want to be there was wasn't rude or discourteous.

It had very kind staff and good waiters I would recommend it to every it also had lovely food.

Good night out. Takes a while to get going but packed by 10:30pm.

Just spent two nights in the Hertford house. Rooms were very good. Had one breakfast which was excellent. Staff are fantastic. Would recommend to anyone.

Great bar with a lively dance floor that heats up in the late evening. Had a great dinner at Chau's House, which brings some brilliant Asian inspired cooking to the area. The kimchi lamb chops are a must try, as are the salt and pepper squid and udon noodles. Great food, good cocktails and solid tunes to end your evening.

Recently refurbished. Friendly staff. Freshly cooked breakfast. Do a lot of business travel and this was a refreshing change from the usual.

We had a fantastic stay at Hertford House. The rooms were immaculate, beautifully furnished and we had a great night's sleep. I have read other people mention the fact that the rooms are above the bar/club but I can honestly say we had no problem with noise and slept very well. The staff are friendly and helpful and we had a fantastic meal in the new restaurant Chau's downstairs. Highly recommend.

Very nice building, helpful friendly staff, rooms were clean and a good size. We didn't stay long so didn't get to experience the bar or restaurant, but would definitely consider coming back.

Excellent clean rooms with very friendly staff. Very comfortable beds I had a vary good sleep in the evening. Excellent breakfast menu with vast variety to choose from.

Big thanks to everyone at HHH that was involved in organising and working on Sat 3rd September for our wedding party. We had such a great night & the venue was perfect!
The bar stuff were on point; and we had so many people saying how good they were.
I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to hold a party.

I stayed overnight in the hotel in a lovely room and enjoyed their breakfast the next morning!
I cannot recommend Hertford House Hotel enough to hold a party!

One of the best hotel function rooms I've been to!

It was ok. Slept really but rooms are not soundproof. Expected more from a Deluxe room.

Friendly staff, great bar and range of drinks. Even a piano player that takes requests!

It was a private event, great music, great people and a great venue.

Great hotel. Room decorated to a great standard and for me had multiple plugs by bed was a massive positive. Inner city so parking is a short walk away and no gym and wasnt great but otherwise a good option.

Had breakfast with family, service was quick and friendly. Food was good.

We recently stayed at the Hertford House and were really happy with both the room, and the service. My partner was in a wedding at the castle, so we asked if we could check in early in order to make it to the ceremony without carrying our things around. Staff were very prompt to replying to my email, and upon arrival were nothing more than friendly and accommodating. The room itself was great; big, lovely bathroom, comfortable bed. We were really happy with our stay!

Went there this Sunday, they had run out of my first or second choice by 1pm and my 3rd was an expensive pulled pork sandwich that tasted more like tuna with a strong taste of lemon for some unknown reason. Wish I had gone elsewhere.

Had 23 people stay for 4 days , all ages could not do enough for everyone, Will allbe be back soon. Please thank all the staff for their help making our stay so lovelly.

If the review was for the bar on a Thurs / Fri / Sat night I'd give this almost 5 stars. The restaurant during the day however is scraping a 2 star. The service is very friendly and polite. The menu sticks to the tried and trusted options which is totally understandable but the food itself is very bland and nothing special at all. Add a glass of wine and a beer to the food and you're looking at a hefty price for a very uninspiring meal.

Great hotel all round and the Carl Clarke food is amazing.

New restaurant is fabulous. Authentic american bbq with a UK twist, via the trendier parts of the east end. Very family friendly which is a real find for hertford, great kids menu. Will visit again soon.

Our daughter and son in law held their wedding reception at the hotel. Everything was done to transform the restaurant to look lovely for the occasion. The wedding meal was soup, followed by spit roast pork with poor man's potatoes and vegetables (very nicely cooked) and a pleasant sweet. We had the use of the marquee at the rear which had been erected for Christmas and this made a nice quiet area for chatting and cutting the wedding cake. In the evening, the spacious bar was used for the disco. And there was a very good evening buffet. We stayed the night and had a very pleasant room (which did have tea and coffee making facililties). There was a wonderful choice of breakfast in the morning. The main drawback to the hotel is that there is no parking belonging to the hotel. It is on a busy road which makes loading and unloading difficult. There is public parking very close by.

Can't vouch for the hotel, but the "House Kitchen" restaurant is fantastic. I had tomato and mozzarella salad to start, followed by spit roast pork on a bed of roast veg which was delicious. Partner had soup followed by the chilli which was apparently very nice too. Will definitely go again.

I arrived after driving around for 20 minutes looking for their car parking. No one advised me that I would have to pay to park in a multistorey 5 mins away when I booked. Added to this the receptionist didn't get anyone to help with my luggage and was not helpful. But hey I was paying £125 per night so surely I couldn't expect service! Next, no lamps working in the room — no one on reception for 10 minutes so had to wait. Eventually receptionist gave me lecture on how to work lights until I told her that none of them had bulbs in. Said she would sort it out and disappeared. When she came back she handed me 2 light bulbs and said "try these". I was too shocked to say anything. Next no remote for tv, windows didn't close and room subject to noise of dj in the bar below. Kitchen closed at 9pm so nothing to eat. Next morning went for breakfast only to be told coulnt have 3 dishes on the menu as didn't have any smoked salmon left. Breakfast cold. Rooms tiny, dirty and I'll equipped. What a complete rip off. Been shown more care and had better facilities in a premier lodge for £49. Diabolical at half the price.

The hotel is clean and new, but it is most definitely not a luxury (or even good quality) hotel. There are no tea/coffee facilities in room and there is no room service. This needs to be addressed in order for paying guests to feel that their money is gratefully received and that the management have anything other than contempt for their customers. Good points: I had a lovely breakfast of Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs. I wanted Kippers, but they were "off". Comfortable bed. Clean. Bad Points: Attention to customers needs. Shower was just a trickle. Delusions of grandeur.
