Really? No hand towel, no bathmat. Fortunately they DO provide a bathtowel. Young lady on reception far more interested in her phone. Redeemed slightly by good service from waiter Mark and gentleman on front desk.

Idea for a one night stop over when going on a cruise. Have used Ibis Southampton 3 times now and never had a problem. Breakfast is ample. The best thing is 12 noon check out and being able to wait in the lounge until embarkation.

Always have a great weekend when we stay there. Lovely buffet breakfast! Near to all the things to do like shops, restaurants, museum and there are some lovely historical walks.

Chain of good hotels. This is close to Southampton city centre, large parking lot but for a fee. Clean and well furnished rooms simply and modern. Buffet service x breakfast and dinner.

Standard Ibis hotel. Decent size rooms, good beds. Good location. Nothing too luxurious, but exactly what I expected of it. Good hotel.

A pleasant, clean hotel, at a reasonable price. However, it would have got more stars, but we noticed in the morning, of our one night stay that the security device preventing the room window opening fully on our 3rd floor room was disconnected allowing it to fully open! The window is easily accessible to a young child with a low shelf / platform to climb on. I was with my 7 year old son and deem this a very serious safety issue! I raised it with the staff at checkout who waived our £7 parking charge as a good will gesture. Due to the potential seriousness, I e-mail IBIS / Accor Hotels on 2 occasions to help insure this was included on the room check in all their hotels, but nobody has had the courtesy to reply to me! Hence 1 star as child safety is clearly not very important to them!

Hotel ibis Southampton. It is a nice comfortable room with a bath. It has a bar and food. But there is also a turtle bay a few minutes walk. And a TGI Friday's practically on the doorstep. And a MacDonalds.

You get what you paid for. Very easy access. Near the port terminals, if you're in transit, it's great location for you. Staff very friendly and helpful. Clean and tidy rooms.

Good reliable pleasant low cost hotel, if you're driving they charge extra £7 per night…

Food was nice and not expensive. Basic facilities but good value.

I was impressed by how friendly and helpful every member of staff was throughout my stay. Food was good — especially liked that I could request porridge for breakfast. My room had everything that I needed, was clean and I appreciated the comfy bed. 4 stars as it was a little overpriced for a basic room with slightly tired decor.

Perfect place to stay in Southampton We booked two rooms for the weekend. Location is really central and walking distance to everywhere. The hotel is clean, quiet and professionally run by some of the best people I met at front desk. Very courteous Parking is ample and well worth the 6 pounds daily rate.

You can check in around the CLOCK. The room was clean and comfortable. Minus that breakfast is paid separately and costs 9 GBP per person.

Quite a nice hotel, good atmosphere and friendly staff. The single beds were Disappointing we were expecting normal size beds but these were very narrow and also quite hard. We only had 3 pillows and as we arrived late one of us only had 1 pillow for the first night, I think all guest should be provided with 2 pillows each. Breakfast was adequate, the bacon was a bit strange and not very pleasant but the rest was OK.

The staff were friendly but after a long journey to find that the room I had booked had been overbooked and as a result couldn’t have a shower as I have mobility problems and couldn’t get into the bath. The extra stress was upsetting.

Modern reception, comfortable and quiet room, very close to the harbor and ideal in pre or post cruise. Missing the restaurant in week end.

Quite clean, friendly staff; however, too expensive! Breakfast must be paid extra, flexibility is a foreign word for these people — we had to 14:00 on time! Wait until we were finally allowed to check in and not a minute earlier…

Absolutely fine. No frills but okay for a comfortable night's sleep. Quite expensive but all hotels in the area were similar or more.

Arrived by 2pm and our room was ready and we were speedily checked in. The room was clean and comfortable for an overnight stay. Not that big but not a problem for our stay for one night. We booked breakfast and again this was more than adequate and plentiful. The staff extremely efficient and helpful. We pre-booked a taxi for the next morning via the hotel taxi line and this was an hour late but of course your cannot blame the hotel for that — just the fact there was apparently 4 cruise ships leaving that day!

Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the room itself was basic but as expected for the cost. Bar staff appallingly rude though — he seemed to begrudge serving me as it meant he had to stop chatting with his mate and made me wait, and wasn't able to make me a hot chocolate despite hot drinks being on the "bar menu". I asked where I could order a hot drink and was waved towards the drinks machine in the restaurant — where of course there were no mugs as the machine was for breakfast customers and it was 9pm. All the while he was complaining to his mate sat at the bar about my apparently absurd and unreasonable request! Will not be visiting again.

Arrived 3.45 pm and room wasn't ready. Asked to wait in the bar. Had a drink in the bar and was charged for our drinks despite only being in there because room wasn't ready. Waited until 4.30 then had to go and Chase to find out what was happening as nobody informed us. Check in was supposed to be from 2pm. Won't stay here again.

Check-in was poor, we thought the guy who gave us our keycard was actually a guest just sat on the customer side of the desk! No uniform and looked like he was in his pyjamas. The room was absolutely fine with comfortable beds and pillows so we had a good nights sleep. Check-out was even worse, when I said that I had a car in the car park, he decided he wanted to check out another guest and make us wait to pay for the parking. When the next guest advised he wanted an invoice (and was in a rush to catch a ferry), he decided to check us out first while waving a colleague over. Absolutely farce, it was like a scene from Faulty Towers.

Immediately we unpacked we noticed there were only 3 pillows between us, one hand towel, 2 teabags and 2 sugars. We do not drink coffee. No one answered the phone when I rang Reception. Consequently I had to go down to Reception to ask for the extras above. In the morning at breakfast there was no marmalade, and when I asked it was produced from a jar in the, cupboard with the comment that it was in 'reserved'. Obviously your super heroes did not perform to ou satisfaction, and consequently felt a full refund should be given as you so proudly advertise in your brochure. We paid £146 for bed. & breakfast for one night. I would like to add that we stayed at three Premier Inns on this trip which did not cost as much, and the service was better.

Excellent location for the train and bus station (National Express). Also close to port area for cruise boarding and ferries.

No air conditioning that works in my room.

We have stayed many times over the years. The location is excellent. This time it was disappointing not to have the usual smiling and helpful desk staff. The breakfasts were very poor, understanding that the service is not that well used by most guests. Having said that, we are also concerned that the price keeps creeping up (we know that it is a competitive business) and we may well need to see if other locations offer a better deal for the money. We like the Ibis, but you need to give us good resaon to return.

Clean, nice staff, close to shops and city center.

Simply the noisiest place I've ever stayed in. And no AC. It's hell. Look elsewhere. Only reason I'm giving it one star is because Google won't let me give it a zero. Staff told me the AC was old and just didn't work. And opening a window allows me to hear the very much working AND LOUD! AC systems from the two hotels next door. Don't bother with this place The only redeeming feature of this establishment is its proximity to the train station, which I intend on using promptly tomorrow.

The hotel is fairly central in Southampton and gives good walking access to the city centre. Rooms are basic, but en-suite with free Wi-Fi and a TV. In my room there was a deal and chair too, which made catching up with work and easy prospect. The staff were friendly and helpful and provided a nice cooked breakfast in the morning, with excellent coffee and a TV for the news and weather. A very pleasurable few days in all.

Excellent value budget hotel with pod like rooms which are both clean and simple. Very minimal in design and for short overnight stays or business trips are perfect.

Ok. Rooms ok but small. Nothing special generally. Bar downstairs is very expensive, breakfast is extra, parking is extra. At least a TGI is nearby.

The rooms were plenty big enough and we'll equipped. Everything in the room worked fine and we had a sea view!

I was rather pleased with the friendly welcome smile and helpful receptionist during our stay. The only reason I gave 2 star it was due to the noise the housekeeping staff made in the morning. I was expecting a peaceful sleep (hubby and I get away weekend from kids) but got woken up by the housekeeping staff banging the skirting board while vacuuming the next door room and slamming the toilet seat after cleaning it (this was around 8.30am). We did put a 'do not disturb' sign hang outside our door! We can tolerate a noise and understands that they need to get the rooms done — but a little consideration to the other guest will be much appreciated as we've been told by receptionist over the weekend we don't have to check out until 12. Everything else is up to standard. Wouldn't recommend it to someone who loves a bit of lie-in for the weekend.

Modern looking hotel. Large car park. Friendly professional staff. Good range of meals in the bar. Disabled parking. Disabled access with disabled rooms available.

Room like room but for 64£ you get tiny peace of soap and day before I had small bottle of shower gel. Once I asked I need shower gel instead of soap, receptionist told me that it was mistake that there was shower gel and if I want one I need to buy for 1, 50£.! Better of to local b&b.

Rooms are ok, as you would expect for a Hotel Ibis. Not too bad for the price, but after staying here once I've since chosen other hotels for my needs. If you just need a bed for the night and are not fussy, then choose the cheaper Etap next door. If you want a bit more luxury for what may be a similar price try the Mecure, much much nicer! Or if you like Hotel Ibis, stay here! :-) All hotels mentioned are part of the same chain — Accor.
