Very nice afternoon tea, lovely surroundings, nice and quiet teaxing atmosphere.

Had burger and could not eat it so spicy, had to tell them this as did not mention on menu about that it had a big kick. Never had bad meal not put me off going back.

Very nice food excellent but I think you should take money as well as cards as your card machine did not work.

Came in for a quick coffee and a light bite, waiter was so attentive and friendly, coffee well made and food was yummy, nice treat for a damp flat day.

Awful food! Make themselves posh but clearly the chef is not up to it! Don’t go! Rooms are ok but old style.

Had a lovely stay at the hotel. Very nice room. Breakfast was good & gluten free food provided.

Gorgeous vintage hotel but complimentary modernised. Our room was 209 a spacious family friendly room with a desk, wardrobe, sofa bed, TV and upstairs has another double bed with tv! Finished beautifully with oak flooring! Dinner was delicious, I had the set menu which was stunning and tasted great. Other guests had filet steak cooked to perfection and our girls had the children’s menu topped of with incredible homemade ice cream 🍨 such a treat. I can’t wait to explore the village and abbey tomorrow (father day) and look forward to breakfast x.

Spur of moment visit with a friend. Tea and scones were lovely in a totally comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Efficient and friendly staff. Will definately be back.

Had a great stay there. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The lady at the reception is very helpful and friendly. The overall atmosphere is great.

Staff who are welcoming and know what they are doing (including knowing the grapes in a wine) and value for money, but excellent quality food. You deserve to do well! Rooms very comfortable and well appointed — a ge! Sad to have a rushed stay, would love to linger!

One of my favourite places to drink and eat in Romsey. Lovely venue and the customer service is brilliant.

Went for a pot of tea and tea cake at the hotel today, very disappointed. We were told we had to pay for extra tea bag if we wanted a stronger pot of tea and we had to pay for extra butter for our tea cake. We were told that if we wanted stronger tea we should of asked, such a shame as we visit the hotel quite often.

Amazing hotel, room was fab and staff polite and helpful. Breakfast was a bit chaotic with tea not arriving and the coffee machine in the room didn't work, but so minor compared to the rest.

We enjoy both coffee breaks and lunch at this establishment when we visit Romsey. It's coffee is great while the menu always encourages me to return. The service is outstanding and the staff helpful and polite.

We just had our Wedding here on Saturday 30th June 2018. It was a perfect day, the hotel is lovely, the food is exceptional and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this venue for Weddings, second to none with the Coordinator Sarah leading the way. It is a really special place and everyone agreed, all the guests had a fabulous time, we couldn't have asked for more! Thank you The White Horse Hotel. Alex & Sarah.

Very comfortable hotel in a lovely, well kept, town. Rooms a. Good size, large double bed. Tasty breakfast served the following day. Staff helpful and friendly.

We was not impressed. Party of 15 booked for 3.30. We didn't get tea brought out until 4.20 sandwiches came about 4.50 there was only enough for 12 people. We complained and they then brought out another tray for the group who didn't have any. The butter was so thick in the finger sandwiches it was cut in thick slices not spread. When eventually cakes arrived felt a bit sick from The butter so was only able to eat half scone. Not enough jam or cream to go around so they was very dry. We took home the cakes that didn't get eaten but as it was a hot day they all melted so was thrown in bin. A very expensive experience for very poor service. Would not go back again.

Our room had a configuration where the bedroom was on a level above the lounge area, nice but the room was hot and the aircon did not work and being in the roof there was no window to open! Shame really as everything else was good. They did acknowledge and gave a small discount off room, rather pay full price and have a solid night sleep.

When we checked into hotel they put a hold on monies from our credit card (over $400.00) and then we checked out were charged over $600.00. Which we paid off our credit card. We checked in on the 13th of May and checked out on the 16th May. We still have the hold on the over four hundred dollars on our credit card. Have sent several emails trying to get them to have this taken off our card and now they are ignoring our emails. We actually have a credit on our credit card, which should get used by things that we charge. Not holds that should of dropped off. The merchant is the only one that can take it off. Is this how they treat their customers. Stick it to them. They tried to blame my bank, but my bank per my bank, can't take off a pending charge.

Individual staff were lovely and helpful, and the rooms were spacious and clean. We were there for a wedding, and I ate there the night before with the wedding party as well as having the wedding breakfast there. I'm vegetarian, and there was a severly limited choice. Both meals it was cheesy risotto, albeit with different grains, so not the most inspiring, the staff did however remember I was veggie from meal to meal, which was nice. There was also a mixup with rooms for the mother of the bride, which unfortunately the hotel were unable to sort. It was a hot weekend, and the rooms were accordingly hot and stuffy, and difficult to get a breeze through (no AC, which is understandable for a hotel of that age). The hotel also added a discretionary 10% service charge to all drinks purchased at the bar on the night of the wedding (not mentioned to anyone, no signs, only noted in small lettering at the bottom of the receipt). All in all pleasant enough, but room for improvement.

Good hotel in the heart of Romsey great for morning coffee or afternoon tea also has plenty of seating area outside for a nice lunch or a warm summer evening meal. Highly recommend a visit to The White Horse Romsey.

Nice place in centre of Romsey. Went for a fairly large group meal. Service a bit slow but pleasant. Nice touch with the white gloves! Still reeling from £10.20 charge for a large glass of NZ Sauvi though! Plenty of outside seating in the sun.

Had a fabulous relaxing time. Afternoon tea for a baby shower, the tea was delicious and there was plenty of it.

I've stayed at the hotel multiple times now and it's always a nice stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the breakfast buffet is nice and not expensive as well.

Was invited to a private party to celebrate a friend's 90 the birthday. The function room was very nicely decorated and with a man at the piano to add atmosphere. The waiting staff were very attentive, making sure all were looked after. The food was delicious and set out so that you could help yourself, a nice touch with bone china and linen. Have attended several wakes so a pleasure for a change.

Great food. A beautiful old building with original Tudor features. A lovely central location in a nice town. Recommended.

The best place in Romsey to eat and drink. The staff are very efficient and helpful. The food, both snacks and in the restaurant, is first class. Drinks are a little expensive but worth it for the quality and range. Afternoon tea is excellent and they can easily accommodate allergies. Highly recommended!

Afternoon Tea for 7 did not live up to previous experiences. Service was very slow, tables weren't cleared and on several occasions we had to remind the reception that we were still awaiting orders. Some of the sandwiches were some what dry and the eclair pastry tasted burnt. Overall, it was very underwhelming and rather disappointing. I have emailed and am yet to receive a response. Due to this I'm unlikely to return or recommend anymore. I hope you take note and make afternoon tea a perfect experience once again.

Very nice. Lovely outdoor area and a nice indoor bar. You'll feel far from everything. Very nice bathrooms.

Had an excellent dinner here with interesting choices available. Not inexpensive but we still enjoyed the whole meal. Not very busy on a Wednesday night and perhaps consequently the level of service was very good, and pleasant staff. Would look forward to going back.

Absolutely appalled with the white Horse. My family are from Romsey and is always a tradition after Remembrance Sunday to pop in for coffee. Oh no not this time, everywhere was laid up for 'afternoon tea'. Which at the time we got there was way before 12, then we were evicted from the front room being told " hadn't we read the sign on the door"… Staff were very rude and couldn't be bothered to find us anywhere to sit. Think a little customer service training is needed. I used to work at the white horse and I would never ever treat customers that way. It seems it is more important to the white horse in people having afternoon tea than anything else. I also had cousins visiting from London, who have stayed there many times before. My husband and I even stayed on our first night of our honeymoon, so we have always regarded the White horse as a special place But after Sunday never again, nor will anyone of my family or friends. So very disappointed.

Lovely afternoon tea at the White Horse. Great service and fantastic choice of teas and infusions. My only criticism would be that more clotted cream is needed for the scones and it's tricky to get it out if the little jar — a dish would be better.

It's not cheap to eat here but it is brilliant! I recently went for a birthday celebration meal and was amazed by the high quality of the food and the care and attention that had gone into cooking and presenting it.

Had a wonderful meal at their brasserie. The pineapple tarte tatin is so absolutely delicious!

Lovely venue. The building itself is quite old and exudes character however the inside has been done up to a very high standard, especially The Stables which is essentially brand new inside. Staff are very professional and friendly and the place was very comfortable to attend.

Came here for a wedding, very nice friendly staff, the building itself is historically amazing and has loads of character. The food was delicious and we'll presented and with a party of us the size that we were, all getting served at the same time the meal quality didn't suffer which is good to see that standards can be maintained. Only criticism is the cost of drinks.

Lovely location, and perfectly cosy to sit for a long-term use catch up with friends. Our afternoon tea was yummy and there was plenty to go around. Definitely worth the money! Waiting staff were attentive and friendly. The only, rather minor point was that the room was slightly dark and some atmospheric lighting would really lift it. But, that's the only reason I wouldn't award 5 stars!

We stayed as guests of a birthday party held at the hotel. When we arrived, the staff were so friendly and helpful and our rooms were just gorgeous. So homely, and the kids were ecstatic to have their very own room adjoining ours! Oh, the excitement… Their own T. V (the fruit ninja game on it went down an absolute treat! ) AND their own bathroom too! We were literally steps away from the fantastic function room, so could actually just crawl to bed at the end of a very fun party. The breakfast in the morning was heavenly and indeed very welcome after the previous evening! Beautifully displayed and as tasty as it looked, with a great selection on both the menu and the buffet. There is no doubt we will come for another stay soon :) x.

Visited for cream tea on a very quiet afternoon. Service was spot on, and the scones were probably the best I've had in a long while… Warm and freshly made. Perfect.

Attractive, well furnished and the service was polite and speedy. Also the room was charming and good value (£120 B and B). Food in the restaurant was good too and nothing seemed too much trouble. all spoiled by the dreadful woman at the reception desk! who was rood and unhelpful. She was on the phone when we arrived to check in having what sounded like a private conversation which went on for sooo long that we wandered off to find another member of staff to help us! All we wanted to to leave our luggage and park our car. She then refused to look at me and only addressed my wife. (Honestly, I was totally courteous) When we returned to check in formally the desk was unmanned and we, and others, waited for ten minutes for her to return whereupon there was no apology! Sorry White horse. Not again.

My wife and I have visited the White Horse on three occasions. Twice in the winter and once in the summer. Summer was busy with weddings and holidaymakers, although perfectly nice to sit outside and enjoy an alfresco meal on a balmy night. Winter it is cosy, fewer residents and the perfect place to unwind. Food and service is exceptional for the price. Delightful.

Expensive formulaic and foyer-ised. Totally lacking in atmosphere. If you like first class departure lounges.
